| 7 | Long-term follow-up of auditory performance and speech perception and effects of age on cochlear implantation in children with pre-lingual deafness显示文摘Background: The development of auditory and speech perception ability of children with hearing loss is affected by many factors after they undergo cochlear implantation (CI). Age at CI (CI age) appears to play an important role among these factors. This study aimed to evaluate the development of auditory and speech perception ability and explore the impact of CI age on children with pre-lingual deafness present before 3 years of age. Methods: Two hundred and seventy-eight children with pre-lingual deafness (176 boys and 102 girls) were included in this study, and the CI age ranged from 6 to 36 months (mean age, 19 months). Categorical auditory performance (CAP) was assessed to evaluate auditory ability, and the speech intelligibility rating was used to evaluate speech intelligibility. The evaluations were performed before CI and 1, 3, 6, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48, and 60 months after CI. Results: The auditory ability of the pre-lingually hearing-impaired children showed the fastest development within 6 months after CI (k = 0.524, t = 30.992, P < 0.05);then, the progress started to decelerate (k = 0.14, t = 3.704, P < 0.05) and entered a plateau at the 24th month (k = 0.03, t = 1.908, P < 0.05). Speech intelligibility showed the fastest improvement between the 12th and 24th months after CI (k = 0.138, t = 5.365, P < 0.05);then, the progress started to decelerate (k = 0.026, t = 1.465, P < 0.05) and entered a plateau at the 48th month (k = 0.012, t = 1.542, P < 0.05). The CI age had no statistical significant effect on the auditory and speech abilities starting at 2 years after CI (P > 0.05). The optimal cutoff age for CI was 15 months. Conclusions: Within 5 years after CI, the auditory and speech ability of young hearing-impaired children continuously improved, although speech development lagged behind that of hearing. | 8 | Psychophysiological Effects of Bamboo Plants on Adults显示文摘The present study was conducted to clarify the psychophysiological relaxation effects of viewing bamboo on university students. Forty healthy Chinese participants enrolled in this study to clarify the psychophysiological relaxation effects of viewing bamboo. The effects of visual stimulation using a pot both with and without a bamboo were recorded by measuring the student's blood pressure, EEG and STAI. We observed that viewing bamboo plants resulted in significantly lower systolic(female, P < 0.001; male, P < 0.001; P < 0.05) and diastolic(female,P < 0.001; male, P < 0.001; P < 0.05) blood pressures, but no changes in the pulse rate(female, P = 0.09; male, P = 0.07; P > 0.05) were observed. The results of the EEG analysis indicated brainwave variation(all P < 0.05) and lower anxiety scores(P < 0.01) after 3 min of viewing bamboo compared with the control. | 11 | Effect of Weight Loss on Survival in Esophageal Cancer Patients undergoing Neoadjuvant Chemoradiotherapy and Surgery显示文摘Objective This study aimed to determine the impact of weight loss during neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy on the survival of patients with esophageal carcinoma.Methods We retrospectively examined 102 consecutive patients with esophageal carcinoma who underwent neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy followed by radical resection at Sichuan Cancer Hospital&Institute between 2003 and 2017.The patients were divided into three groups based on the amount of body weight lost during neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy:severe weight loss(>10%),high weight loss(5%~10%),and low weight loss(<5%).The correlations of weight loss with toxicity,progressionfree survival,and overall survival were investigated.Results The median overall survival was 49.7 months in the low weight loss group compared with 35.4 and 25.1 months in the high and severe weight loss groups(P=0.041).The 1-year overall survival rates in the severe,high,and low weight loss groups were 62.5%,85.0%,and 90.7%,respectively;the corresponding 3-year overall survival rates were 21.9%,47.3%,and 68.8%,respectively,and the corresponding 5-year overall survival rates were 21.9%,31.0%,and 44.4%,respectively.The multivariate analysis indicated that a pathological complete response and severe weight loss were independent prognostic factors for overall survival.Any leukopenia(P=0.024),leukopenia of at least grade 3(P=0.021),and anemia(P=0.042)occurred more frequently in the severe weight loss group.Conclusions Weight loss during neoadjuvant CRT is an independent and adverse prognostic factor in esophageal carcinoma patients,whereas a stable weight confers a better prognosis. | Jia Hua Lyu Tao Li Yong Tao Han Lei Wu Lin Peng Qi Feng Wang Long Liang | 2020 | Journal of Nutritional Oncology2020,5,3: | 6 |

| 14 | Plasma RANTES level is correlated with cardio-cerebral atherosclerosis burden in patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease显示文摘Background::Regulated upon activation, normal T-cell expressed, and secreted (RANTES) is a chemokine actively involved in the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis (AS), which is the major cause of ischemic cerebrovascular disease (ICVD). This study aimed to determine the associations between circulating RANTES level and overall AS conditions of cardiac and cerebral vessel beds in patients with ICVD.Methods::Patients with ICVD admitted to the department of neurology of Xuanwu Hospital from April 1, 2019 to June 30, 2019 were prospectively enrolled in the study. Plasma RANTES level was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay to represent the circulating RANTES level. The integrated AS burden of the cervicocephalic and coronary arteries was examined using computed tomography angiography and reflected by 'cardio-cerebral AS burden (CCAB)' as a continuous variable. Then, the relationship of plasma RANTES level and CCAB in patients with ICVD was analyzed by correlation analyses and general linear models.Results::A total of 40 patients with ICVD were included in the study. There was a significant positive correlation between CCAB and plasma RANTES level in ICVD ( r = 0.786, P < 0.001), independent of age, sex, acute or chronic phase of ICVD, and mono or dual antiplatelet therapy (adjusted B for ln RANTES, 12.063;95% confidence interval, 7.572-16.533). The association of plasma RANTES level with AS conditions (burden, severity, and extent) in single cardiac or cerebral vessel bed was similar to that with CCAB, but the correlation coefficient for CCAB was higher (increment ranged from 0.126 to 0.397). Conclusions::Plasma RANTES level was an independent indicator for the integrated AS burden of the cervicocephalic and coronary arteries in ICVD. | 15 | TCP7 functions redundantly with several Class Ⅰ TCPs and regulates endoreplication in Arabidopsis显示文摘TCP(TEOSINTE BRANCHED1/CYCLOIDEA/PROLIFERATING CELL FACTOR) proteins, a family of plantspecific transcription factors, play important roles in many developmental processes. However, genetic and functional redundancy among class I TCP limits the analysis of their biological roles. Here, we identified a dominantnegative mutant of Arabidopsis thaliana TCP7 named leaf curling-upward(lcu), which exhibits smaller leaf cells and shorter hypocotyls than the wild type, due to defective endoreplication. A septuple loss-of-function mutant of TCP7, TCP8, TCP14, TCP15, TCP21, TCP22, and TCP23 displayed similar developmental defects to those of lcu.Genome-wide RNA-sequencing showed that lcu and the septuple mutant share many misexpressed genes.Intriguingly, TCP7 directly targets the CYCLIN D1;1 (CYCD1;1) locus and activates its transcription. We determined that the C-terminus of TCP7 accounts for its transcriptional activation activity. Furthermore, the mutant protein LCU exhibited reduced transcriptional activation activity due to the introduction of an EAR-like repressive domain at its C-terminus. | 17 | Plant Diversity Performance After Natural Restoration in Reclaimed Deyeuxia angustifolia Wetland显示文摘Deyeuxia angustifolia wetlands were widely distributed in the Sanjiang Plain in Northeast China. Due to strong demand for food production, large-area wetlands were reclaimed to farmlands, which threatened regional ecological security greatly. Since the 21 th century, returning farmlands to wetlands was widely adopted for natural restoration in the Sangjiang Plain. As the first reflection of wetland restoration, vegetation succession of restored D. angustifolia wetlands should be fully assessed. In this study, vegetation investigation was carried out in three restored D. angustifolia wetlands with 5, 8 and 12 yr restoration, respectively. Meanwhile, a natural D. angustifolia wetland was selected as reference wetland. Results showed that community composition changed greatly and there was visible community succession. Community dominant species changed from composite to gramineae as restoration time increasing.At first, weeds community appeared in the restored wetlands, especially the xerophytes developed to the pioneer species rapidly. And then, mesophytes and wetland species became the dominant species in the restored wetlands. Finally, wetland species, especially D. angustifolia, occupied the dominant position of restored community. Shannon-wiener index(H) and Simpson index(D) both decreased to close to natural D. angustifolia wetlands. Compared with natural D. angustifolia wetland, species composition and diversity in restored wetlands were more complex and higher. As restoration time increasing, there were not significant differences between community characteristics of restored wetlands and natural wetland. All these suggested that vegetation in reclaimed D. angustifolia wetland could be restored naturally, but its restored period is 10 yr at least. | 19 | Effect of high temperature on compression property and deformation recovery of ceramic fiber reinforced silica aerogel composites显示文摘Ceramic fiber reinforced silica aerogel composites are novel insulation materials in the thermal protection field for hypersonic vehicles. Before the aerogel composites are applied in load-bearing structures, it is necessary to investigate their mechanical properties including load-bearing and deformation recovery capabilities. High temperature from service conditions will have important effects on the mechanical properties of thermal protection materials. In this paper, compression tests including loading and unloading stages were conducted for ceramic fiber reinforced silica aerogel composites at room temperature and elevated temperatures(300℃, 600℃ and 900℃). Influences of thermal exposure to high temperature and high temperature service environment on the compression property and deformation recovery were both investigated. Scanning electron microscopy(SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) and X-ray diffraction(XRD) were applied to help understand the mechanisms of mechanical property variations. The experimental results show that the compression modulus and strength both increase with the increasing thermal exposure temperature and testing temperature,but the deformation recovery capability decreases. The micro structure changes caused by thermal sintering are considered as the main reason for the property variations.Viscous flow and matter transport due to high temperature resulted in the fusion of aerogel particles. This made the particle skeleton thicker and stronger, which led to higher stiffness and strength of the composites. However, matrix cracks induced by the formation and fracture of larger pores made unrecoverable deformation more serious. In the tests at elevated temperatures,the aggregation of aerogel particles in a fused state got more severe because of the addition of mechanical load.
