| 1 | Coalbed methane genesis, occurrence and accumulation in China显示文摘Coalbed methane (CBM) is an important type of unconventional gas. Commercial development of CBM in America has been very successful since the 1980s. The CBM industry in Australia and Canada has developed rapidly during the last decade. Commercial development of CBM in China started in the 1990s, and has made great progress. The geological theory of CBM in China has achieved great advancement in genesis, occurrence and accumulation. On the aspect of CBM genesis, five CBM genetic types (primary biogenic gas, secondary biogenic gas, thermal degradation gas, pyrolysis gas and mixed gas) are identified by studying the geochemical characteristics of CBM, and a tracing indicator system is established. The discovery of secondary biogenic gas in medium-high rank coal reservoirs has widened the potential of CBM resources. On the aspect of CBM occurrence, the gas adsorption regulation under combined action of temperature and pressure is revealed by conducting adsorption experiments of different coal ranks under varying temperature and pressure conditions. Besides, by applying the adsorption potential theory in CBM research, the adsorption model under combined action of temperature and pressure is established. The new model can predict CBM resources accurately, and overcome the limitation of the traditional Langmuir model which uses just a single factor to describe the adsorption characteristics of deep buried coal. On the aspect of CBM accumulation, it is proposed that there are three evolutionary stages during CBM accumulation, including gas generation and adsorption, unsaturated gas adsorption, gas desorption-diffusion and preservation. Controlled by tectonic evolution, hydrodynamics and sealing conditions, CBM tends to be regionally enriched in synclines. | 12 | Esophagojejunostomy after laparoscopic total gastrectomy by Or VilTM or hemi-double stapling technique显示文摘AIM: To investigate the feasibility, advantages and disadvantages of two types of anvil insertion techniques for esophagojejunostomy after laparoscopic total gastrectomy.METHODS: This was an open-label prospective cohort study. Laparoscopy-assisted radical total gastrectomy with D2 lymph node dissection was performed in 84 patients with primary non-metastatic gastric cancer confirmed by pre-operative histological examination. Overweight patients were excluded, as well as patients with peritoneal dissemination and invasion of adjacent organs. After total gastrectomy, all patients were randomized into two groups. Patients in Group Ⅰ underwent esophagojejunostomy using a transorally-inserted anvil(Or VilTM), while patients in Group Ⅱ underwent esophagojejunostomy using the hemi-double stapling technique(HDST). Both types of esophagojejunostomy were performed under laparoscopy. Patients' baseline characteristics, preoperative characteristics, perioperative characteristics, short-term postoperative outcomes and operation cost were comparedbetween the two groups. The primary endpoint was evaluation of the surgical outcome(operating time, time of digestive tract reconstruction and time of anvil insertion) and the medical cost of each operation(operation cost and total cost of hospitalization). The secondary endpoints were time to solid diet, post-surgical hospitalization time, time to defecation, time to ambulation and intra-operative blood loss. In addition, complications were assessed and compared. RESULTS: Laparoscopic total gastrectomy and esophagojejunostomy were successfully performed in all 84 patients, without conversion to laparotomy. There were no significant differences in the operative time and time for total gastrectomy between the two groups(287.8 ± 38.4 min vs 271.8 ± 46.1 min, P = 0.09, and 147.7 ± 31.6 min vs 159.8 ± 33.8 min, P = 0.09, respectively). The time for digestive tract reconstruction and for anvil insertion were significantly decreased in Group Ⅱ compared with Group I(47.8 ± 12.1 min vs 55.4 ± 15.7 min, P = 0.01, and 12.6 ± 4.7 min vs 18.7 ± 7.5 min, P = 0.001, respectively). Intraoperative blood loss(96.4 ± 32.7 m L vs 88.2 ± 36.9 m L, P = 0.28), time to defecation(3.5 ± 0.9 d vs 3.2 ± 1.1 d, P = 0.12), time to ambulation(3.9 ± 0.7 d vs 3.6 ± 1.1 d, P = 0.12), time to solid diet(7.6 ± 1.4 d vs 8.0 ± 2.7 d, P = 0.31) and total hospitalization(10.6 ± 2.6 d vs 10.8 ± 3.5 d, P = 0.80) were similar between the two groups. Eddy covariance measurement and the meteorological profile observation data were used to analyze characteristics of these parameters on the diurnal, seasonal, and annual scales. Significant seasonal and annual variations of the aerodynamic roughness length are observed over the two surfaces. A large variation of kB-1 is measured during the day. Both kB-1 and the bulk transfer coefficients exhibit significant seasonal and annual variations. During the growing season (May to October), average Cd and Ch are 3.1×10-3 and 2.5×10-3 over the degrade grassland surface, and 4.7×10-3 and 3.1×10-3 over the cropland surface respectively. | 18 | Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. | 19 | CIVB flashback analysis of hydrogen flame based on azimuthal vorticity at mixing zone exit显示文摘Swirl-premixed combustion systems exhibit potential to meet future regulations on pollution emissions. However, combustion induced vortex breakdown(CIVB) flashback is frequently observed in these systems, especially for high hydrogen content fuel. In this study, a swirl-premixed burner with diverging centerbody was used to investigate CIVB flashback based on azimuthal vorticity at mixing zone exit. Through 2D axisymmetric model, it was found that there was a maximal azimuthal vorticity at mixing zone exit for each equivalence ratio. The physical meaning of these maximal azimuthal vorticity values was the minimally required azimuthal vorticity to trigger CIVB flashback. At the same time, the required azimuthal vorticity declined with the increase of equivalence ratio since turbulent burning velocity started to control flashback. | 20 | Carbon dioxide exchange processes over the grassland ecosystems in semiarid areas of China显示文摘Based on the carbon fluxes measured over the grassland ecosystems in Inner Mongolia(UG79 site),Loess Plateau(SACOL site),and Tongyu,Jilin Province(TY site) in the semiarid areas from 2007 to 2008 with the eddy covariance method,we have investigated the carbon exchange processes over semiarid grassland ecosystem and its main affecting environmental variables.The precipitations at UG79 and TY sites in 2007 were below the historical average,especially for TY site,which was 50% below the historical average annual precipitation.The precipitation in SACOL site was close to average in 2007 but below average in 2008.The variation of monthly diurnal average NEE showed that the diurnal mean NEE decreased in the order of TY site,UG79 site,and SACOL site.However,a longer net carbon uptake period was observed at SACOL site.The diurnal course of NEE at UG79 site was similar between 2007 and 2008.The diurnal average NEE remained large during July and August in growing season(May to September) at UG79 site,with maximum values approaching 0.08 mg C m-2 s-1 in August of 2008.The diurnal average NEE of 2007 was larger than 2008 at SACOL site,with maximum values of 0.07 mg C m-2 s-1 in September of 2007.A shorter carbon uptake period was recorded in 2007 at TY site,lasting from July to August.A larger diurnal average NEE occurred in 2008 at TY site,with maximum values of 0.12 mg C m-2 s-1.The ecosystem respirations of three sites were controlled by both soil temperature and soil volumetric water content(at a depth of 5 cm below the land surface).Both UG79 site and SACOL site acted as a carbon sink during the growing periods of 2007 and 2008.Annual NEE in the growing seasons of 2007 and 2008 ranged from-68 to-50 g C m-2 at UG79 site and from-109 to-55 g C m-2 at SACOL site.Alternation between carbon source and carbon sink was found at TY site,with respective values of annual NEE in the growing seasons of 0.32 g C m-2 and-73 g C m-2 in 2007 and 2008.The magnitude and duration of carbon uptake depended mainly on the amount and timing of precipitation and the timing of the first effective rainfall during the growing season in semiarid grassland ecosystems. | DU Qun LIU HuiZhi WANG Lei HUANG JianPing ZHANG Wu Christian BERNHOFER | 2012 | Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,4: | 6 |
