Correlation between lower gastrointestinal tract symptoms and quality of life in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To explore correlations between the symptoms of constipation and abdominal distention and severity of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)in patients with stable disease.METHODS:We studied 191 patients with stable COPD(according to defined criteria)in this cross-sectional study from four three-level class A Chinese medicine hospitals in China. We built an Epidata 3.0 database and performed statistical analysis with SPSS,version 17.0.We analyzed correlations between the frequency of lower gastrointestinal tract symptoms(constipation and abdominal distention)and scores for major pulmonary symptoms(cough, sputum and wheezing)based on the St.George's Respiratory Questionnaire(SGRQ),6-minute walking distance(6MWD)and frequency of acute exacerbations of COPD(AECOPD).RESULTS:In addition to their pulmonary symptoms,39.79%and 40.31%of study patients withstable COPD reported constipation and abdominal distention, respectively.Scores for major pulmonary symptoms(cough, sputum and wheezing),AECOPD and SGRQ values in patients with constipation and abdominal distention were significantly greater, and the 6MWD markedly shorter, than in those without them.According to Pearson's correlation analysis, there were strong correlations between these lower gastrointestinal tract symptoms and scores for pulmonary symptoms,SGRQ,6MWD and AECOPD.CONCLUSION:Lower gastrointestinal tract symptoms such as constipation and abdominal distention can adversely affect pulmonary symptoms, frequency of acute exacerbations and quality of life in patients with stable COPD. | Yan Sun Fengjie Zheng Yuhang Li Ruohan Wu Yuchao Liu Miao Liu Jinchao Zhang Kuo Gao | 2013 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2013,33,5: | 10
Reinforcement effect of fiber and deoiled asphalt on high viscosity rubber/SBS modified asphalt mortar显示文摘In this paper we investigate the reinforcement mechanism of high viscosity rubber/SBS modified asphalt mortar mixed with fiber(mineral, lignin or carbon fiber) and deoiled asphalt(DOA). The softening point, penetration and viscosity tests were conducted to characterize the engineering properties of asphalt-fiber mortar. The microstructure of fiber was observed using scanning electron microscopy(SEM), and the results indicated that fiber can effectively improve the toughness of asphalt matrix through forming a spatial network structure, and then adhesion and stabilization of asphalt binder. The cone penetration test was designed to study the rheological property of fiber modified asphalt. The results indicated that the reinforcement effect increased with fibers and DOA fraction increasing to a certain threshold, and the optimal fiber content was dependent on the fiber type and its length. Fiber content and filler-asphalt ratio had significant effects on the softening point, penetration, viscosity and cone penetration of asphalt mortar. | Wu Mengmeng Li Rui Zhang Yuzhen Wei Jianming Lv Yuchao Ding Xuemei | 2014 | Petroleum Science2014,11,3: | 8
Seasonal variation in body mass and energy budget in Chinese bulbuls (pycnonotus sinensis)显示文摘Background: Seasonal adjustments in body mass and energy budget are important for the survival of small birds in temperate zones. Seasonal changes in body mass, body temperature, gross energy intake(GEI), digestible energy intake(DEI), body fat content, as well as length and mass of the digestive tract, were measured in Chinese Bulbuls(Pycnonotus sinensis) caught in the wild at Wenzhou, China. Methods: Body mass was determined with a Sartorius balance. The caloric contents of the dried food and feces were then determined using a oxygen bomb calorimeter. Total fat was extracted from the dried carcasses by ether extraction in a Soxhlet apparatus. The digestive tract of each bird was measured and weighed, and was then dried to a constant mass. Results: Body mass showed a significant seasonal variation and was higher in spring and winter than in summer and autumn. Body fat was higher in winter than in other seasons. GEI and DEI were significantly higher in winter. The length and mass of the digestive tract were greatest in winter and the magnitude of both these parameters was positively correlated with body mass, GEI and DEI. Small passerines typically have higher daily energy expenditure in winter, necessitating increased food consumption. Conclusions: This general observation is consistent with the observed winter increase in gut volume and body mass in Chinese Bulbuls. These results suggest that Chinese Bulbuls adjust to winter conditions by increasing their body mass, body fat, GEI, DEI and digestive tract size. | Mengsi Wu Yuchao Xiao Fang Yang Limeng Zhou Weihong Zheng Jinsong Liu | 2014 | Chinese Birds2014,,1: | 6
Optimizing zeolite stabilized Pt-Zn catalysts for propane dehydrogenation显示文摘Propane dehydrogenation(PDH)provides an alternative route to non-petroleum based propylene and eligible catalysts with good overall performance are still being explored.Herein,we report the construction of zeolite stabilized Pt-Zn catalysts Pt-Zn/Si-Beta for PDH.Characterization results from transmission electron microscopy(TEM),ultraviolet-visible(UV-vis)and Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy reveal that highly-dispersed Zn species are stabilized by the silanols from zeolite framework dealumination, which then act as the anchoring sites for Pt species. The close contact between Pt-Zn species and the electronic interaction thereof make Pt-Zn/Si-Beta robust PDH catalysts.Under optimized conditions,a high propylene production rate of 4.11 molmol_(Pt)^(-1)s^(-1),high propylene selectivity of 98% and a sustainable deactivation rate of~0.02 h^(-1)can be simultaneously achieved at 823 K.Coke deposition is not the key reason for the catalytic deactivation, while the loss of Zn species and the resulting aggregation of Pt species under high temperatures are responsible for the irreversible deactivation of Pt-Zn/Si-Beta catalyst in PDH reaction. | Linjun Xie Yuchao Chai Lanlan Sun Weili Dai Guangjun Wu Naijia Guan Landong Li | 2021 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,6: | 5
Subwavelength imaging and detection using adjustable and movable droplet microlenses显示文摘We developed adjustable and movable droplet microlenses consisting of a liquid with a high refractive index. The microlenses were prepared via ultrasonic shaking in deionized water, and the diameter of the microlenses ranged from 1 to 50μm.By stretching the microlenses, the focal length can be adjusted from 13 to 25μm.With the assistance of an optical tweezer, controllable assembly and movement of microlens arrays were also realized. The results showed that an imaging system combined with droplet microlenses could image 80 nm beads under white light illumination.Using the droplet microlenses, fluorescence emission at 550 nm from Cd Se@Zn S quantum dots was efficiently excited and collected. Moreover,Raman scattering signals from a silicon wafer were enhanced by^19 times. The presented droplet microlenses may offer new opportunities for flexible liquid devices in subwavelength imaging and detection. | XIXI CHEN TIANLI WU ZHIYONG GONG YUCHAO LI YAO ZHANG BAOJUN LI | 2020 | Photonics Research2020,8,3: | 5

A review of progress in coupled ocean-atmosphere model developments for ENSO studies in China显示文摘El Nino-Southern Oscillation(ENSO) is the strongest interannual signal that is producedby basinscale processes in the tropical Pacific, with significant effects on weather and climate worldwide. In the past, extensive and intensive international efforts have been devoted to coupled model developments for ENSO studies.A hierarchy of coupled ocean-atmo sphere models has been formulated;in terms of their complexity, they can be categorized into intermediate coupled models(ICMs),hybrid coupled models(HCMs),and fully coupled general circulation models(CGCMs).ENSO modeling has made significant progress over the past decades, reaching a stage where coupled models can now be used to successfully predict ENSO events 6 months to one year in advance.Meanwhile,ENSO exhibits great diversity and complexity as observed in nature, which still cannot be adequately captured by current state-of-the-art coupled models, presenting a challenge to ENSO modeling. We primarily reviewed the long-term efforts in ENSO modeling continually and steadily made at different institutions in China;some selected representative examples are presented here to review the current status of ENSO model developments and applications, which have been actively pursued with noticeable progress being made recently. As ENSO simulations are very sensitive to model formulations and process representations etc.,dedicated efforts have been devoted to ENSO model developments and improvements. Now,different ocean-atmosphere coupled models have been available in China, which exhibit good model performances and have already had a variety of applications to climate modeling, including the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6).Nevertheless,large biases and uncertainties still exist in ENSO simulations and predictions, and there are clear rooms for their improvements, which are still an active area of researches and applications. Here, model performances of ENSO simulations are assessed in terms of advantages and disadvantages with these differently formulated coupled models, pinpointing to the areas where they need to be further improved for ENSO studies. These analyses provide valuable guidance for future improvements in ENSO simulations and predictions. | ZHANG Rong-Hua YU Yongqiang SONG Zhenya REN Hong-Li TANG Youmin QIAO Fangli WU Tongwen GAO Chuan HU Junya TIAN Feng ZHU Yuchao CHEN Lin LIU Hailong LIN Pengfei WU Fanghua WANG Lin | 2020 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,4: | 4

High-efficient crystal particle manufacture by microscale process intensification technology显示文摘High-end crystal manufacture has drawn a permanent concern on the high-efficient manufacture of crystal particles, especially in fine chemical, pharmaceutical, electronics, biological and relative engineering fields. In recent years,a series of microscale process intensification(MPI)technologies have been widely used in crystal particles preparation via addressing the control of nucleation and growth process.Herein,we review the research progresses of microscale process intensification technology from three aspects, microfluidics devices, microscale force field technology and membrane-based microchannels and interface transfer process.Firstly, the principle of microfluidic and relative microscale device on improving micro-mixing and mass transfer are briefly described. The advantage of microfluidic in continuous nano particle preparation is outlined.Microscale external force field(ultrasonic,high-gravity,electric and magnetic fields)is then introduced as another novel approach for ultrafine nanoparticles and continuous drug crystallization process.Further,in view of the micro-scale intensified mass transfer and microscale interfacial force field established on membrane technology, the basic mechanism of membrane crystallization(microscale 2D supersaturation degree control, auto seed detachment, microporous membrane dispersion, etc.)is reviewed. The process coupling and design strategy aiming for enhancing the manufacture capacity is also illustrated. Finally, the developing tendency and key challenges of high-efficient crystal particle preparation technology via microscale processes are overviewed. | Yuchao Niu Shaofu Du Lei Sheng Wu Xiao Xiaobin Jiang Gaohong He | 2021 | Green Chemical Engineering2021,2,1: | 2
Boosting multi-hole water oxidation catalysis on hematite photoanodes under low bias显示文摘The accumulation of multiple surface holes is considered to be the key to efficient photoelectrochemical(PEC)water oxidation.Previous PEC water oxidation studies commonly apply high potentials(>1.2 VRHE)to achieve this key.But how to complete multi-hole transfer under low bias(<1.2 VRHE)remains unknown.Herein,we find that,on a typical visible-light photoanode,hematite(α-Fe_(2)O_(3)),UV excitation plays a indispensable role in driving multi-hole water oxidation under low bias.Compared with the visible-light excitation, the UV excitation promotes the formation of adjacent surface-trapped holes onα-Fe_(2)O_(3) at 0.9VRHE,thereby increasing the reaction order of surface holes from~1 to~2 and improving the PEC water oxidation activity by one order of magnitude. The UV irradiation reduces the formation probability of self-trapped excitons and results in~3 to 5-fold increase of surface holes. These advantages enable the UV excitation to contribute about 40%to the total photocurrent under 1 solar illumination, even though its energy only occupies 6%of the incident light. This mechanism is also applicable to boost selective two-hole oxidation of thioether at 0.1 VFc/Fc+and nitrite at 0.9 VRHE. | Lei Wu Daojian Tang Jing Xue Shuobo Wang Hongwei Ji Chuncheng Chen Yuchao Zhang Jincai Zhao | 2023 | Science China Chemistry2023,66,3: | 2
A FIRST-ORDER SPLITTING METHOD FOR SOLVING A LARGE-SCALE COMPOSITE CONVEX OPTIMIZATION PROBLEM显示文摘In this paper, we construct several efficient first-order splitting algorithms for solving a multi-block composite convex optimization problem. The objective function includes a smooth function with a Lipschitz continuous gradient, a proximable convex function that may be nonsmooth, and a finite sum composed of a proximable function and a bounded linear operator. To solve such an optimization problem, we transform it into the sum of three convex functions by defining an appropriate inner product space. Based on the dual forward-backward splitting algorithm and the primal-dual forward-backward splitting algorithm, we develop several iterative algorithms that involve only computing the gradient of the differentiable function and proximity operators of related convex functions. These iterative algorithms are matrix-inversion-free and completely splitting algorithms. Finally, we employ the proposed iterative algorithms to solve a regularized general prior image constrained compressed sensing model that is derived from computed tomography image reconstruction. Numerical results show that the proposed iterative algorithms outperform the compared algorithms including the alternating direction method of multipliers, the splitting primal-dual proximity algorithm, and the preconditioned splitting primal-dual proximity algorithm. | Yuchao Tang Guorong Wu Chuanxi Zhu | 2019 | Journal of Computational Mathematics2019,37,5: | 2
Interfacial induction and regulation for microscale crystallization process:a critical review显示文摘Microscale crystallization is at the frontier of chemical engineering, material science, and biochemical research and is affected by many factors. The precise regulation and control of microscale crystal processes is still a major challenge. In the heterogeneous induced nucleation process, the chemical and micro/nanostructural characteristics of the interface play a dominant role.Ideal crystal products can be obtained by modifying the interface characteristics, which has been proven to be a promising strategy. This review illustrates the application of interface properties, including chemical characteristics(hydropho-bicity and functional groups)and the morphology of micro/nanostructures(rough structure and cavities, pore shape and pore size, surface porosity, channels),in various microscale crystallization controls and process intensification. Finally, possible future research and development directions are outlined to emphasize the importance of interfacial crystallization control and regulation for crystal engineering. | Mengyuan Wu Zhijie Yuan Yuchao Niu Yingshuang Meng Gaohong He Xiaobin Jiang | 2022 | Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2022,16,6: | 1

Facile fabrication of branched-chain carbohydrate chips for studying carbohydrate-protein interactions by QCM biosensor显示文摘A novel approach for fabricating branched-chain(BC) carbohydrate chips to study carbohydrate-protein interactions using Quartz Crystal Microbalance(QCM) biosensor was developed. This approach utilizes functional alkynyl-branch molecule modified chip surfaces, which through the terminal alkynyl group for covalent linking of unprotected azide-carbohydrates. The unprotected azide-carbohydrates were syhthesized in one-step using 2-azido-1,3-dimethyl-imidazolinium as catalyst, avoiding complex chemical modifications. Additionally, the branch surface modified with the carbohydrates not only supplies more specific binding site but also reveals significant cluster effect. To exemplify the sugar cluster effect on BC carbohydrate chips, BC Galactose and Mannose chips prepared in this work were used to determine carbohydrate-lectin interactions using QCM biosensor. The results clearly showed that BC chip significantly improves the detection sensitivity compared with the straight-chain(SC) chip. More importantly, the BC galactose chip sensitivity was enhanced 40% compared with the SC galactose chip. | Yuchao Lu Siyu Song Chenxi Hou Shuang Pang Xueming Li Xiaowen Wu Chen Shao Yuxin Pei Zhichao Pei | 2018 | Chinese Chemical Letters2018,29,1: | 1
