2Laser textured dimple-patterns to govern the surface wettability of superhydrophobic aluminum plates显示文摘A laser texturing technique herein can endow bare aluminum alloy surface with regular dimple-pattern array and thus generates a case hardening.After STA treatment,these laser-textured samples become superhydrophobic.The surface wettability of the laser-textured samples can be regulated by controlling the dimple-pattern dimensions during the laser processing.It is noteworthy that a fluorescence method is utilized to record the zones on the superhydrophobic surface penetrated by small enough water molecules.Compared with a general method of the Cassie-Baxter theoretical calculation,this fluorescence method intuitively exhibits the air trapping ability of the superhydrophobic surface.Furthermore,the laser-textured superhydrophobic samples have a notable hysteresis phenomenon at the initial period of UMT friction because the air cushion trapped within superhydrophobic samples have strong repellency against water droplets on the hydrophilic steel ball.Additionally,such samples display strong mechanical stability in comparison with bare aluminum alloy because of the presence of case hardening on the surface of the laser patterns.The research results above provide a valuable reference for designing a surface with different wettability,which may inspire practical applications in the fields of fluid transport,droplet manipulation,water harvesting and microfluidic devices.Wei Tong Lingling Cui Rongxian Qiu Chengqi Yan Yuntong Liu Nan Wang Dangsheng Xiong 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,30:3
3The properties of flax fiber reinforced wood flour/high density polyethylene composites显示文摘Flax fiber(FF) was used to reinforce wood flour/high density polyethylene composites(WF/PE).WF/PE particles were uniformly mixed with FF via high-speed mixing and then extruded with a single screw extruder to prepare FF reinforced WF/PE composites(FF/WF/PE).Mechanical testing,dynamic mechanical analysis,scanning electron microscopy(SEM),creep measurement and Torque rheology were used to characterize the resulting composites.The results indicate that the mechanical performance of the composites could be remarkably improved by adding a limited amount of FF.The flexural strength and modulus increased by 14.6 and 51.4%,respectively(FF content of 9 wt%),while the unnotched impact strength could be increased by 26.5%(FF content of12 wt%).The creep resistance and toughness of thecomposite was markedly improved without changing the plastic content of the composite material.Jingfa Zhang Haigang Wang Rongxian Ou Qingwen Wang 2018Journal of Forestry Research2018,29,2:3

10Design and performance analysis of tangential-axial flow threshing device for oat harvester显示文摘Aiming at the problems of stalks winding and poor threshing performance in the process of mechanical harvesting of oats,a type of threshing and crushing experimental device was designed.The device was composed of a belt conveyor,a tangential-flow threshing drum,an axial-flow threshing drum,a high-speed camera and a testing device.According to a regression orthogonal test method,using the rotation speed of the axial-flow drum,the horizontal center distance,and the vertical height difference of the two threshing drums as experimental factors;using the mass fraction of long stalks and the threshing rate as experimental indexes,a mathematical regression model of factors and indexes was established,and combined parameters were analyzed for the threshing quality and crushing ability.Experimental results showed that this device had the best crushing performance when the rotation speed of the axial-flow drum was 850 r/min,the horizontal center distance was 820 mm,and the vertical height difference was 10 mm,and this device had optimal threshing performance when the rotation speed of the axial-flow drum was 760 r/min,the horizontal center distance was 820 mm,and the vertical height difference was 20 mm.The parameters were optimized by Design-Expert 11 to obtain an optimization result that the rotation speed of the axial-flow drum was 800 r/min,the horizontal center distance was 820 mm,and the vertical height difference was 10 mm.A verification experiment was carried out by using a high-speed camera,and the two groups of parameters were selected for a comparative experiment.Images of material movement between the two threshing drums were captured by the high-speed camera.Experimental results showed that the optimized parameters were beneficial to improving the threshing performance and anti-winding performance of the oat threshing process.This study provides a technical basis for the research and development of oat combine harvesters.Rongxian Wang Xiangpeng Zhao Jiangtao Ji Xin Jin Bin Li 2021International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2021,14,6:0

12Bio-renewable polymers based on lignin-derived phenol monomers:Synthesis,applications,and perspectives显示文摘In recent decades,the continuous depletion of fossil fuels and the increasingly serious environmental issue have aroused wide attention on the development of biopolymers based on renewable biomass.Lignin is the second most abundant organic bio-based macromolecule second to cellulose,and it can be widely found in plants.Furthermore,various phenol derivatives can be obtained by their depolymerization processes.The development of bio-renewable polymeric materials originating from lignin-derivative phenol monomers,such as vanillin,syringaldehyde,eugenol,vanillyl alcohol,vanillic acid,and ferulic acid,will not only valorize the bio-sourced materials but also effectively reduce petroleum resource consumption and mitigate the environmental pollution.Therefore,an updated overview of the synthesis processes of these bio-based polymers developed in the past decade,which includes both thermosets and thermoplastics such as epoxy,phenolic,polyimine,polybenzoxazine,polyurethane,and polyesters,are elucidated.In addition,the applications of these bio-based polymers and their composites in flame-retarded materials,degradable and reprocessable materials,dielectric materials,optoelectronic materials,as well as smart responsive materials are also intensively discussed.In line with the gradual development of synthesis technologies,we believe that derivatives of lignin will turn into one of the most promising materials to be considered for the preparation of high-performance and functional bio-based polymer materials.Weijun Yang Hui Ding Debora Puglia Jose M Kenny Tianxi Liu Jiaqi Guo Qingwen Wang Rongxian Ou Pengwu Xu Piming Ma Pieter Jan Lemstra 2022SusMat2022,2,5:0
13Mechanical Properties and Fire Retardancy of Wood Flour/High-Density Polyethylene Composites Reinforced with Continuous Honeycomb-Like Nano-SiO_(2)Network and Fire Retardant显示文摘The mechanical properties of wood flour/high-density polyethylene composites(WPC)were improved by adding a small amount of nano-SiO_(2)to obtain a network-structured WPC with a continuous honeycomb-like nano-SiO_(2)network.The wood flour was modified with a fire retardant(a mixture of sodium octabonate and amidine urea phosphate)to improve its fire retardancy.The flexural properties,creep resistance,thermal expansion,and fire retardancy of the WPC were compared to a control(WPCCTRL)without nano-SiO_(2)or fire retardant.The flexural strength and modulus of the WPC containing only 0.55 wt.%nano-SiO_(2)were 6.6%and 9.1%higher than the control,respectively,while the creep strain and thermal expansion rate at 90°C were 33.8%and 13.6%lower,respectively.The cone calorimetry tests revealed that the nano-SiO_(2)network physically shielded the WPC,giving it lower heat release and smoke production rates.The thermal expansion was further decreased by incorporating fire retardants into the WPC,which showed the lowest total heat release and total smoke production and the highest mass retention.This study demonstrates a facile procedure for producing WPC with desired performances by forming a continuous honeycomb-like network by adding a small amount of nanoparticles.Haiyang Zhou Xiaoyu Wang Xiaolong Hao Qingwen Wang Rongxian Ou 2020Journal of Renewable Materials2020,8,5:0
14Development of Improved Mumps Vaccine Candidates by Mutating Viral mRNA Cap Methyltransferase Sites in the Large Polymerase Protein显示文摘Although a live attenuated vaccine is available for controlling mumps virus(MuV), mumps still outbreaks frequently worldwide. The attenuated MuV vaccine strain S79 is widely used in mumps vaccination in China, but still with many shortcomings, among which the most prominent are the side effects and decreased immunity. Therefore, there is a need to further improve the safety and efficacy of the current MuV vaccine. In the present study, we further attenuated MuV S79 vaccine strain by inhibiting viral mRNA methyltransferase(MTase). We generated a panel of eight recombinant MuVs(rMuVs) carrying mutations in the MTase catalytic site or S-adenosylmethionine(SAM) binding site in the large(L) polymerase protein. These rMuVs are genetically stable and seven rMuVs are more attenuated in replication in cell culture and five r MuVs are more attenuated in replication in lungs of cotton rats compared with the parental vaccine strain S79. Importantly, cotton rats vaccinated with these seven rMuV mutants produced high levels of serum neutralizing antibodies and were completely protected against challenge with a wild-type MuV strain(genotype F).
