| 1 | Grain-size Characteristics of Sediments Formed Since 8600 yr B.P. in Middle Reaches of Yarlung Zangbo River in Tibet and Their Paleoenvironmental Significance显示文摘Widespread aeolian sediments have been found in the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River, China. The grain-size characteristics of sediments from Cha’er Section in the area were analyzed. The results show that the section include one stratum of paleo-mobile dunes, four strata of paleo-semi-fixed dunes, two strata of paleo-fixed dunes, one stratum of sandy immature soils. The paleo-mobile and paleo-semi-fixed dune sand in this section are simi- lar to modern aeolian sand in either grain-size composition or Mz and σ distribution. Compared the above types of dunes each other, the content of sand substance decreases, while the content of silt and clay increases for paleo-fixed dunes and sandy immature soils. Combined with age data for each stratum, the analysis shows that these strata are the products of climate changes and the evolution of aeolian landforms. The evolutionary sequence of the paleoclimate and of aeolian activities in the valley since 8600 yr B.P. reveals four stages: 8600–5700 yr B.P., when the paleoclimate was cold and dry, with strong winds, thereby activating dunes; 5700–3600 yr B.P., when it was warm and wet, with weak winds, causing dunes to undergo soil-forming processes; 3600–1900 yr B.P., when climate shifted from cold-dry with strong winds to warm-wet with weak winds, and activated dunes were fixed again; and 1900 yr B.P. –present, when the climate became fine, with weak winds, fixing dunes again. | ZHENG Yinghua WU Yongqiu LI Sen TAN Lihua GOU Shiwei ZHANG Hongyan | 2009 | Chinese Geographical Science2009,19,2: | 10 |

| 3 | The structure of instantaneous frequencies of periodic analytic signals显示文摘In this paper, the structure of analytic signals is investigated by means of the relation between analytic signals and functions in the Hardy space. It is shown that an analytic signal is made up of two parts, one depending on the amplitude of the signal and another on the boundary value of an inner function. Based on this result, properties of the instantaneous frequencies of these two parts are studied, and it is found that negative instantaneous frequencies are caused by the amplitude of a signal. | 4 | Promoting Bone Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Inhibiting Bacterial Adhesion of Acid-Etched Nanostructured Titanium by Ultraviolet Functionalization显示文摘Titanium(Ti) and its alloys are used extensively in orthopedic implants because of their excellent biocompatibility,mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. However,titanium-based implant materials face many severe complications,such as implant loosening due to poor osseointegration and bacterial infections,which may lead to implant failure. Hence,preparing a biomaterial surface,which enhances the interactions with host cells and inhibits bacterial adhesion,may be an optimal strategy to reduce the incidence of implant failure. This study aims to improve osseointegration and confer antibacterial properties on Ti through a combination of two surface modifications including nanostructuring generated by acid etching and ultraviolet(UV) light treatment.Our results showed that without UV treatment,the acid etching treatment of Ti surface was effective at both improving the adhesion of bone mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs) and increasing bacterial adhesion. A further UV treatment of the acid-etched surface however,not only significantly improved the cell adhesion but also inhibited bacterial adhesion. The acid-etched nanostructured titanium with UV treatment also showed a significant enhancement on cell proliferation,alkaline phosphatase(ALP) activity and mineralization. | 5 | VO2·0.2H2O nanocuboids anchored onto graphene sheets as the cathode material for ultrahigh capacity aqueous zinc ion batteries显示文摘Aqueous Zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs),using zinc negative electrode and aqueous electrolyte,have attracted great attention in energy storage field due to the reliable safety and low-cost.A composite material comprised of VO2·0.2H2O nanocuboids anchored on graphene sheets(VOG)is synthesized through a facile and efficient microwave-assisted solvothermal strategy and is used as aqueous ZIBs cathode material.Owing to the synergistic effects between the high conductivity of graphene sheets and the desirable structural features of VO2·0.2H2O nanocuboids,the VOG electrode has excellent electronic and ionic transport ability,resulting in superior Zn ions storage performance.The Zn/VOG system delivers ultrahigh specific capacity of 423 mAh·g^−1 at 0.25 A·g^−1 and exhibits good cycling stability of up to 1,000 cycles at 8 A·g^−1 with 87%capacity retention.Systematical structural and elemental characterizations confirm that the interlayer space of VO2·0.2H2O nanocuboids can adapt to the reversible Zn ions insertion/extraction.The as-prepared VOG composite is a promising cathode material with remarkable electrochemical performance for low-cost and safe aqueous rechargeable ZIBs. | Dedong Jia Kun Zheng Ming Song Hua Tan Aitang Zhang Lihua Wang Lijun Yue Da Li Chenwei Li Jingquan Liu | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,1: | 6 |

| 7 | Near‑Instantaneously Self‑Healing Coating toward Stable and Durable Electromagnetic Interference Shielding显示文摘Durable electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding is highly desired,as electromagnetic pollution is a great concern for electronics’stable performance and human health.Although a superhydrophobic surface can extend the service lifespan of EMI shielding materials,degradation of its protection capability and insufficient self-healing are troublesome issues due to unavoidable physical/chemical damages under long-term application conditions.Here,we report,for the first time,an instantaneously self-healing approach via microwave heating to achieve durable shielding performance.First,a hydrophobic 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorooctyltriethoxysilane(POTS)layer was coated on a polypyrrole(PPy)-modified fabric(PPy@POTS),enabling protection against the invasion of water,salt solution,and corrosive acidic and basic solutions.Moreover,after being damaged,the POTS layer can,for the first time,be instantaneously self-healed via microwave heating for a very short time,i.e.,4 s,benefiting from the intense thermal energy generated by PPy under electromagnetic wave radiation.This self-healing ability is also repeatable even after intentionally severe plasma etching,which highlights the great potential to achieve robust and durable EMI shielding applications.Significantly,this approach can be extended to other EMI shielding materials where heat is a triggering stimulus for healing thin protection layers.We envision that this work could provide insights into fabricating EMI shielding materials with durable performance for portable and wearable devices,as well as for human health care. | Lihua Zou Chuntao Lan Songlin Zhang Xianhong Zheng Zhenzhen Xu Changlong Li Li Yang Fangtao Ruan Swee Ching Tan | 2021 | Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,11: | 3 |

| 9 | Molecular insight into electron transfer properties of extracellular polymeric substances of electroactive bacteria by surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy显示文摘Extracellular polymeric substances(EPS) extracted from electroactive bacteria show promising redox activity, but the electron transfer(ET) mechanism of the EPS has been rarely elucidated because of their structural complexity and lack of efficient methodologies. In this study, the charge transfer theory of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy(SERS) was applied to evaluate the redox properties of EPS adsorbed on Ni and Ag nanoparticles(NPs). These metal NPs were used to simultaneously magnify Raman signals and reduce/oxidize the redox moieties in EPS. As a result, the ET between EPS and metal NPs was evaluated through the changes in Raman signals. In this regard, we compared the redox activity of EPS extracted from two typical electroactive bacteria(Shewanella oneidensis and Geobacter sulfurreducens) and another two nonelectroactive strains(Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis). Electrochemical measurements show that the electroactive strains have higher redox capabilities than nonelectroactive strains. The SERS analysis shows that the porphyrin present in cytochrome c is the dominating redox moiety in the EPS of electroactive bacteria. | 12 | Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase and regulatory dendritic cells contribute to the allograft protection induced by infusion of donor-specific splenic stromal cells显示文摘It has been reported that splenic stromal cells(SSCs)are capable of directly supporting the development of CD11c ^(lo)CD45RB^(+) IL-10-producing dendritic cells(DCs)from lineage-negative c-kit^(+) progenitor cells in the absence of exogenous cytokines.In vitro,DCs that differentiate on stromal cells suppress mixed leukocyte reaction responses and induce primary alloreactive CD4^(+) T cells to differentiate into IL-10-producing Tr1 cells.However,the precise mechanisms by which these SSCs exert their regulatory functions in vivo remain undefined.Furthermore,their possible contribution to the development of allograft transplantation tolerance has yet to be examined.Here,we have used both murine skin and cardiac allograft transplantation models to explore whether in vivo alloresponses can be regulated by infusion with donor-derived SSCs and to investigate the possible mechanisms by which SSCs exert regulatory effects to prevent allograft rejection.We show that intravenous SSC infusion prolonged murine skin allograft survival.The prolonged graft survival is associated with augmentation of the generation of regulatory DC subsets and CD4^(+) CD25^(+) Foxp3^(+) regulatory T cells(Tregs),as well as upregulation of the production of suppressive cytokines IL-10 and transforming growth factor(TGF)-b.Moreover,we found that indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase and SSC-derived regulatory DCs contribute to allograft protection by infusion of donor-specific SSCs.Our data suggest that donor-derived SSCs could be used as a therapeutic target to promote transplantation tolerance. | Li Liu Lihua Duan Min Gong Hong Dai Quan Gong Fang Zheng Zheng Tan Congyi Wang Feili Gong Min Fang | 2011 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2011,8,1: | 2 |

The analysis of nucleic acids and nucleic acids-based analysis have been widely applied in biological studies, clinical diagnosis, environmental analysis, food safety and forensic analysis.During the past decades, the field of nucleic acids analysis has been rapidly advancing with many technological breakthroughs.In this review, we focus on the methods developed for analyzing nucleic acids, nucleic acids-based analysis, device for nucleic acids analysis, and applications of nucleic acids analysis. The representative strategies for the development of new nucleic acids analysis in this field are summarized, and key advantages and possible limitations are discussed.
