1Effect of wastewater COD/N ratio on aerobic nitrifying sludge granulation and microbial population shift显示文摘The effect of COD/N ratio on the granulation process and microbial population succession was investigated.Four identical sequencing batch reactors,R1,R2,R3 and R4,were operated with various initial COD/N ratios ranging from 0/200 to 800/200(m/m).Ethanol was fed as the source of COD.Aerobic granules were successfully cultivated in R2 and R3,operating with the COD/N ratio of 200/200 and 400/200,respectively.Scanning electron microscope observations indicated that short rod-shaped and spherical bacteria were dominant in R2,while granules produced in R3 were surrounded with a large amount of filamentous bacteria.The average specific nitritation rate in R2 and R3 were 0.019 and 0.008 mg N/(mg MLVSS.hr),respectively.Fluorescence in situ hybridization results demonstrated that nitrifying bacteria population was enriched remarkably in R2.It indicated that nitrification ability and nitrifying bacteria population were enriched remarkably at low COD/N ratio.However,no granules were formed in R1 and R4 which might attribute to either limited or excessive extracellular polymeric substances production.This study contributed to a better understanding of the role of COD/N ratio in nitrifying sludge granulation.Lei Wu Chengyao Peng Yongzhen Peng Lingyun Li Shuying Wang Yong Ma 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,2:29
2Denitrifying phosphorus removal in a step-feed CAST with alternating anoxic-oxic operational strategy显示文摘A bench-scale cyclic activated sludge technology(CAST) was operated to study the biological phosphorus removal performance and a series of batch tests was carried out to demonstrate the accumulation of denitrifying polyphosphate-accumulating organisms(DNPAOs) in CAST system.Under all operating conditions,step-feed CAST with enough carbon sources in influent had the highest nitrogen and phosphorus removal effciency as well as good sludge settling performance.The average removal rate of COD,NH4+-N,PO43--P and total nitrogen(TN) was 88.2%,98.7%,97.5% and 92.1%,respectively.The average sludge volume index(SVI) was 133 mL/g.The optimum anaerobic/aerobic/anoxic(AOA) conditions for the cultivation of DNPAOs could be achieved by alternating anoxic/oxic operational strategy,thus a significant denitrifying phosphorus removal occurred in step-feed CAST.The denitrification of NOx--N completed quickly due to step-feed operation and enough carbon sources,which could enhance phosphorus release and further phosphorus uptake capability of the system.Batch tests also proved that polyphosphate-accumulating organisms(PAOs) in the step-feed process had strong denitrifying phosphorus removal capacity.Both nitrate and nitrite could be used as electron acceptors in denitrifying phosphorus removal.Low COD supply with step-feed operation strategy would favor DNPAOs accumulation.MA Juan PENG Yongzhen WANG Shuying WANG Li LIU Yangt MA Ningpin 2009Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,9:27
3Achieving nitritation at low temperatures using free ammonia inhibition on Nitrobacter and real-time control in an SBR treating landfill leachate显示文摘Free ammonia(FA) inhibition on nitrite-oxidized bacteria(NOB) and real-time control are used to achieve nitrogen removal from landfill leachate via nitrite pathway at low temperatures in sequencing batch reactor. The inhibition of FA on NOB activity during the aerobic period was prolonged using real-time control. The degree of nitrite accumulation was monitored along with variations of the ammonia-oxidizing bacteria and NOB population using fluorescence in situ hybridization techniques. It is demonstrated that the end-point of ammonia oxidization is detected from the on-line measured dissolved oxygen,oxidization–reduction potential, and p H signals, which could avoid the loss the FA inhibition on NOB caused by excess aeration. At low temperature(13.0–17.6°C), the level of nitrite pathway rapidly increased from 19.8% to 90%, suggesting that nitritation was successfully started up at low temperature by applying syntrophic association of the FA inhibition and real-time control, and then this high level of nitrite pathway was stably maintained for as long as 233 days. Mechanism analysis shows that the establishment of nitritation was primarily the result of predominant ammonia-oxidizing bacteria developed in the nitrifying bacteria population compared to NOB. 4Achieving partial nitrification by inhibiting the activity of Nitrospira-like bacteria under high-DO conditions in an intermittent aeration reactor显示文摘It is generally accepted that a low dissolved oxygen(DO) concentration is more beneficial for achieving partial nitrification than high-DO. In this study, partial nitrification was not established under low-DO conditions in an intermittent aeration reactor for treating domestic wastewater. During the operational period of low-DO conditions(DO: 0.3 ±0.14 mg/L), stable complete nitrification was observed. The abundance of Nitrospira-like bacteria, which were the major nitrite-oxidizing bacteria, increased from 1.03 × 10~6to2.64 × 10~6cells/m L. At the end of the low-DO period, the batch tests showed that high-DO concentration(1.5, 2.0 mg/L) could inhibit nitrite oxidation, and enhance ammonia oxidation. After switching to the high-DO period(1.8 ± 0.32 mg/L), partial nitrification was gradually achieved. Nitrospira decreased from 2.64 × 10~6 to 8.85 × 10~5cells/m L. 5Hypoxia-induced factor-1 alpha upregulates vascular endothelial growth factor C to promote lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis in breast cancer patients显示文摘Hypoxia-induced factor-1 alpha(HIF-1α)affects many effector molecules and regulates tumor lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis during hypoxia.The aim of this study was to investigate the role of HIF-1αin the regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor C(VEGF-C)expression and its effect on lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis in breast cancer.Lymphatic vessel density(LVD),microvessel density(MVD)and the expressions of HIF-1αand VEGF-C proteins were evaluated by immunohistochemistry in 75 breast cancer samples.There was a significant correlation between HIF-1αand VEGF-C(P=0.014,r=0.273,Spearman's coefficient of correlation).HIF-1αand VEGF-C overexpression was significantly correlated with higher LVD(P=0.003 and P=0.017,respectively),regional lymph nodal involvement(P=0.002 and P=0.004,respectively)and advanced tumor,node,metastasis(TNM)classification(P=0.001 and P=0.01,respectively).Higher MVD was observed in the group expressing higher levels of HIF-1αand VEGF-C(P=0.033 and P=0.037,respectively).Univariate analysis showed shorter survival time in patients expressing higher levels of HIF-1αand VEGF-C.HIF-1αwas also found to be an independent prognostic factor of overall survival in multivariate analysis.The results suggest that HIF-1αmay affect VEGF-C expression,thus acting as a crucial regulator of lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis in breast cancer.This study highlights promising potential of HIF-1αas a therapeutic target against tumor lymph node metastasis.Xiaojian Ni Yingchun Zhao Jingjing Ma Tiansong Xia Xiaoan Liu Qiang Ding Xiaoming Zha Shui Wang 2013The Journal of Biomedical Research2013,27,6:10

8Abnormal distribution of ionospheric electron density during November 2004 super-storm by 3D CT reconstructions from IGS and LEO/GPS observations显示文摘Using time-dependent 3D tomography method, the electron density distributions in the low-latitude ionosphere during November 2004 super-storm are reconstructed from GPS observations of joint ground-based IGS network and onboard CHAMP/GRACE satellites. The reconstructed electron densities are validated by satellite in situ measurements of CHAMP and GRACE satellites. It is indicated by computer tomography (CT) reconstructions that the long-lived positive storm phase during the first main phase of the storm (November 8) is mainly attributed to enhancement of electron density in the upper F region above the F2 peak. It is found by the CT imaging that the top-hat-like F2-3 double layers occurred in the equatorial ionization anomaly region during the main phase of the storm (at forenoon of November 8). The structures of column-like enhanced electron density are found at the time near the minimum of Dst and in the longitudinal sector about 157oE, which extend from the topside ionosphere toward plasmasphere, reaching at least about 2000 km as high. 11Mutation analyses of integrated HBV genome in hepatitis B patients显示文摘Little has been learnt in the last 30 years about detection of HBV genome as well as its mutation analysis between hepatitis B fathers (HBF) and their children. In this study, we used nest polymerase chain reaction (PCR), fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), and DNA sequencing analysis, to examine the integrated HBV genome in paraffin-embedded testis tissues, which were taken as samples from HBF, and in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from 74 cases of HBFs and their children who were born after their fathers’ HBV infection (caHBF). We found that HBV DNA existed in testis tissues, mainly in the basilar parts of the seminiferous tubules, and also in PBMC of HBF. It was also documented that there were point mutations of poly-loci, insertions and deletions of nucleotides in integrated HBV genomes, and the types of gene mutations in the HBFs were similar to those in caHBF. 12Microwave ablation of primary breast cancer inhibits metastatic progression in model mice via activation of natural killer cells显示文摘Surgery is essential for controlling the symptoms and complications of stage IV breast cancer.However,locoregional treatment of primary tumors often results in distant progression,including lung metastasis,the most common type of visceral metastasis.As a minimally invasive thermal therapy,microwave ablation(MWA)has been attempted in the treatment of breast cancer,but the innate immune response after MWA has not yet been reported.Using two murine models of stage IV breast cancer,we found that MWA of primary breast cancer inhibited the progression of lung metastasis and improved survival.NK cells were activated after MWA of the primary tumor and exhibited enhanced cytotoxic functions,and the cytotoxic pathways of NK cells were activated.Depletion experiments showed that NK cells but not CD4+or CD8+T cells played a pivotal role in prolonging survival.Then,we found that compared with surgery or control treatment,MWA of the primary tumor induced completely different NK-cell-related cytokine profiles.Macrophages were activated after MWA of the primary tumor and produced IL-15 that activated NK cells to inhibit the progression of metastasis.In addition,MWA of human breast cancer stimulated an autologous NK-cell response.These results demonstrate that MWA of the primary tumor in metastatic breast cancer inhibits metastatic progression via the macrophage/IL-15/NK-cell axis.MWA of the primary tumor may be a promising treatment strategy for de novo stage IV breast cancer,although further substantiation is essential for clinical testing.Muxin Yu Hong Pan Nan Che Li Li Cong Wang Yue Wang Ge Ma Mengjia Qian Jiawei Liu Mingjie Zheng Hui Xie Lijun Ling Yi Zhao Xiaoxiang Guan Qiang Ding Wenbin Zhou Shui Wang 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,9:5
13Vector Control Strategy of a T-type Three-level Converter Driving a Switched Reluctance Motor显示文摘A novel 12 voltage vector control strategy for switched reluctance motors(SRM)with a T-type three-level converter is proposed in this study.Based on a causal analysis of torque ripple under the control of conventional six voltage vectors,six new voltage vectors are added for further reduction of torque ripple.An optimized control rule is adopted based on the division method of the 12 new voltage vectors.A zero-voltage vector is used to adjust the duration of the 12 voltage vectors,the time of which is varied at different parts of the vector sectors according to the torque error.In addition,the windings are connected in a delta configuration,therefore,the number of connections between the converter and SRM is reduced.Finally,the results of MATLAB/Simulink and RT-LAB are presented to verify the validity of the proposed scheme.Mingyao Ma Zhuangzhi Wang Qingqing Yang Shuying Yang Xing Zhang 2019Chinese Journal of Electrical Engineering2019,5,4:5
14Characteristics of deep drainage and soil water in the mobile sandy lands of Inner Mongolia, northern China显示文摘Quantification of deep drainage and the response of soil water content to rainfall patterns are critical for an effective management strategy of soil water conservation and groundwater utilization. However, there has been little information on how rainfall characteristics influence soil water dynamics and deep drainage in mobile sandy lands. We used an underground chamber to examine the responses of deep drainage and soil water content in mobile sandy lands to rainfall characteristics in Inner Mongolia during the growing seasons of 2010, 2011 and 2012. Results showed that rainfall in this area was dominated by small events(≤5 mm), which increased soil water content in the surface soil layers(0–40 cm), but did not increase soil water content in the deeper soil layers(greater than 40 cm). Soil water content at the 0–100 cm depth increased significantly when the total amount of rain was >20 mm. Rainfall amount, intensity and the duration of dry intervals were significantly related to the soil water content in different soil layers. Deep drainage was significantly correlated with rainfall amount and intensity, but not with the duration of dry intervals. The coefficients of deep drainage in the mobile sandy lands ranged from 61.30% to 67.94% during the growing seasons. 16Study on the role of Cathepsin B and JNK signaling pathway in the development of cerebral aneurysm显示文摘Objective: To investigate the correlation between JNK signal and the apoptosis of VSMC as well as the expression of Cathepsin B and to explore the role of JNK signal in the development of cerebral aneurysm. Methods: Rat models of cerebral aneurysm were established and histopathologic changes of cerebral aneurysm and the apoptosis of VSMC were analyzed. Rat models were respectively subject to subcutaneous injection of Cathepsin B si RNA and JNK inhibitor SP600125. Western blot technique was used to detect the expression of proteins like Cathepsin B, Caspase-3, and p-JNK. Spearman's rho was used to examine the correlation between p-JNK and Cathepsin B, as well as the expression of relevant proteins. Results:The success rate of modeling rats with cerebral aneurysm was 88.75%. After the respective injection of Cathepsin B si RNA, SP600125 and their combination, the cell densities of VSMC of rats with cerebral aneurysm all increased significantly(P<0.05 or P<0.01), but the apoptosis rate of VSMC decreased significantly(P<0.01). Compared with normal rats, the expression of Cathepsin B, Caspase-3 and p-JNK in cerebral aneurysm models increased significantly. Effectively intervening Cathepsin B genes with Cathepsin B si RNA could significantly inhibit the expression of Cathepsin B and Caspase-3, but hardly influence the expression of p-JNK. JNK inhibitor SP600125 had no influence on the expression of Cathepsin B and Caspase-3, but effectively inhibited the expression of p-JNK. In cerebral aneurysm tissues, positive correlation was observed between the expression of p-JNK and Cathepsin B, the correlation coefficient was r=0.640. Conclusion: After the attack of cerebral aneurysm, proteins like Cathepsin B, Caspase-3 and p-JNK are all involved in the apoptosis of VSMCs. This process may be realized by Cathepsin B which activates the apoptosis mechanism of Caspase-3 and mediate the apoptosis of VSMC through the JNK signaling pathway. 17Morphology of polar ionospheric O^+ ion upflow: FAST observations during quiet time显示文摘With energetic ion measurements on FAST satellite, the morphologic features of quiet-time ionospheric O+ ion upflowing at altitudes of 2000 to 4000 km are drawn out for the first time. The pre-noon cusp/cleft is the predominant region of upflowing occurrence for O+ with lower energy. Meanwhile the pre-dawn sector near the equatorward edge of the plasma convection dominates the occurrence for the higher energy O+ ions. No matter whether the energy is lower or higher, the upflows occur often over a wide MLT range of lower latitudes outside the auroral oval. The upflowing within the pre-midnight (21:00― 22:00 MLT) auroral oval carrys larger energy fluxes, with extremely large fluxes for higher energy O+ appearing near the polar cap boundary. For altitudes of 2000―4200 km under observation, the ion conics occur much more frequently than ion beams. 18Open-circuit Fault-tolerant Control Strategy Based on Five-level Power Converter for SRM System显示文摘Switched reluctance motor power converters are prone to open-circuit faults because it need to withstand large voltages and currents.Due to the small number of traditional asymmetrical half bridge topology switches,it is difficult to carry out fault tolerant control when power converters has an open-circuit fault,resulting in larger output torque ripple.This paper presents a five-level power converter based on the traditional asymmetric half-bridge power converter.The five-level topology has more switching states and can work in multi-level mode.Based on the topology,different excitation and demagnetization voltages can be choose at different speeds.A fault-tolerance strategy is developed to decrease the influence of the open-circuit fault.The five-level power converter has four switches per phase,and two of them will be used in one of the operating mode.So the remaining two of the switches can be used for safe backup,enabling fault-tolerant control when an open-circuit occur.Since each phase of the five-level power converter proposed in this paper is independent of each other,a reasonable control strategy can be used to avoid the unbalance of the midpoint potential.Finally,the topology and fault-tolerant strategy proposed in this paper are verified by simulation and experiment.Mingyao Ma Kexiang Yuan Qingqing Yang Shuying Yang 2019CES Transactions on Electrical Machines and Systems2019,3,2:3

20GEOLOGICAL AND GEOCHEMICAL STUDY ON THE GENESIS OF THE FANKOU Pb-Zn DEPOSIT显示文摘The super large Pb Zn deposit at Fankou is very complex in metallogenic mechanism. Syngenetic brine sedimentation, hot submarine spring eruption—accumulation, syngenetic sedimentation—vadose brine replacement had been supposed as the genetic models before. Under these models, syngenetic mineralization should be dominant in ore formation. However, a series of geological and geochemical properties investigated by authors of this paper are contrary to these models.
