1Th e role of ferroptosis in ionizing radiation-induced cell death and tumor suppression显示文摘Ferroptosis,a form of regulated cell death caused by lipid peroxidation,was recently identified as a natural tumor suppression mechanism.Here,we show that ionizing radiation(IR)induces ferroptosis in cancer cells.Mechanistically,IR induces not only reactive oxygen species(ROS)but also the expression of ACSL4,a lipid metabolism enzyme required for ferroptosis,resulting in elevated lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis.ACSL4 ablation largely abolishes IR-induced ferroptosis and promotes radioresistance.IR also induces the expression of ferroptosis inhibitors,including SLC7A11 and GPX4;as an adaptive response.IR-or KEAP1 deficiencyinduced SLC7A11 expression promotes radioresistance through inhibiting ferroptosis.Inactivating SLC7A11 or GPX4 with ferroptosis inducers(FINs)sensitizes radioresistant cancer cells and xenograft tumors to IR.Furthermore,radiotherapy induces ferroptosis in cancer patients,and increased ferroptosis correlates with better response and longer survival to radiotherapy in cancer patients.Our study reveals a previously unrecognized link between IR and ferroptosis and indicates that further exploration of the combination of radiotherapy and FINs in cancer treatment is warranted.Guang Lei Yilei Zhang Pranavi Koppula Xiaoguang Liu Jie Zhang Steven HLin Jaffer AAjani Qin Xiao Zhongxing Liao Hui Wang Boyi Gan 2020Cell Research2020,30,2:88

4PM_(2.5)-bound polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) in Beijing:Seasonal variations,sources,and risk assessment显示文摘Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) have been of health concern due to its carcinogenesis and mutagenesis. In this study, we aimed to assess the variations, sources, and lifetime excessive cancer risk(ECR) attributable to PAHs bound to ambient particulate matters with aerodynamic diameter less than 2.5 μm(PM_(2.5)) in metropolitan Beijing, China. We collected24-hour integrated PM_(2.5) samples on daily basis between November 2014 and June 2015 across both central heating(cold months) and non-heating(warm months) seasons, and further analyzed the PAH components in these daily PM_(2.5) samples. Our results showed that total concentrations of PM_(2.5)-bound PAHs varied between(88.6 ± 75.4) ng/m^3 in the cold months and(11.0 ± 5.9) ng/m^3 in the warm months. Benzo[a]pyrene(Ba P), the carcinogenic marker of PAHs,averaged at 5.7 and 0.4 ng/m^3 in the cold and warm months, respectively. Source apportionment analyses illustrated that gasoline, biomass burning, diesel, coal combustion and cooking were the major contributors, accounting for 12.9%, 17.8%, 24.7%, 24.3% and 6.4% of PM_(2.5)-bound PAHs, respectively. The BaP equivalent lifetime ECR from inhalation of PM_(2.5)-bound PAHs was 16.2 cases per million habitants. Our results suggested that ambient particulate reduction from energy reconstruction and adaption of clean fuels would result in reductions PM_(2.5)-bound PAHs and its associated cancer risks. 8A review of chatter vibration research in milling显示文摘Chatter is a self-excited vibration of parts in machining systems. It is widely present across a range of cutting processes, and has an impact upon both efficiency and quality in production processing. A great deal of research has been dedicated to the development of technologies that are able to predict and detect chatter. The purpose of these technologies is to facilitate the avoidance of chatter during cutting processes, which leads to better surface precision, higher productivity,and longer tool life. This paper summarizes the current state of the art in research regarding the problems of how to arrive at stable chatter prediction, chatter identification, and chatter control/-suppression, with a focus on milling processes. Particular focus is placed on the theoretical relationship between cutting chatter and process damping, tool runout, and gyroscopic effect, as well as the importance of this for chatter prediction. 9ζ-Carotene Isomerase Suppresses Tillering in Rice through the Coordinated Biosynthesis of Strigolactone and Abscisic Acid显示文摘Rice tillering is an important agronomic trait affecting grain yield.Here,we identified a high-tillering mutant tillering20(t20),which could be restored to the wild type by treatment with the strigolactone(SL)analog rac-GR24.T20 encodes a chloroplast ζ-carotene isomerase(Z-ISO),which is involved in the biosynthesis of ca-rotenoids and their metabolites,SL and abscisic acid(ABA).The t20 mutant has reduced SL and ABA,raising the question of how SL and ABA biosynthesis is coordinated,and whether they have overlapping functions in tillering.We discovered that rac-GR24 stimulated T20 expression and enhanced all-trans-p-carotene biosynthesis.Importantly,rac-GR24 also stimulated expression of Oryza sativa 9-CIS-EPOXY-CAROTENOID DIOXYGENASE 1(OsNCED1)through induction of Oryza sativa HOMEOBOX12(0sHOX12),promoting ABA biosynthesis in shoot base.On the other hand,ABA treatment significantly repressed SL biosynthesis and the ABA biosynthetic mutants displayed elevated SL biosynthesis.ABA treatment reduced the number of basal tillers in both t20 and wild-type plants.Furthermore,while ABA-deficient mu-tants aba1 and aba2 had the same number of basal tillers as wild type,they had more unproductive upper tillers at maturity.This work demonstrates complex interactions in the biosynthesis of carotenoid,SLs and ABA,and reveals a role for ABA in the regulation of rice tillering.Xue Liu Qingliang Hu Jijun Yan Kai Sun Yan Liang Meiru Jia Xiangbing Meng Shuang Fang Yiqin Wang Yanhui Jing Guifu Liu Dianxing Wu Chengcai Chu Steven M.Smith Jinfang Chu Yonghong Wang Jiayang Li Bing Wang 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,12:11

11Effects of Body Size and Environmental Factors on the Acoustic Structure and Temporal Rhythm of Calls in Rhacophorus dennysi显示文摘In anurans, the outcomes of male-male contests and female choice are often associated with body size. In some species, males evaluate an opponent's fighting ability and females evaluate male quality on the basis of male communication signals, which are thought to reflect information concerning male body size. Nevertheless, previous studies reveal that male call structure is not always correlated with body size. In the present study we investigated the relationships between body size and call structure in the large treefrog, Rhacophorus dennysi, as well as the relationship of its calling behavior with air temperature and humidity. The results show that both the dominant and fundamental frequencies are negatively correlated with body size, while inter-note intervals are positively correlated with body size, indicating that call characters could reflect body size in this species.Additionally, calling in this tropical species exhibits a circadian rhythm insofar as relatively high temperature and low humidity during the day is associated with less vocal behavior. 12Vitamin A administration at birth promotes calf growth and intramuscular fat development in Angus beef cattle显示文摘Background: Marbling, or intramuscular fat, is an important factor contributing to the palatability of beef. Vitamin A, through its active metabolite, retinoic acid, promotes the formation of new fat cells(adipogenesis). As intramuscular adipogenesis is active during the neonatal stage, we hypothesized that vitamin A administration during the neonatal stage would enhance intramuscular adipogenesis and marbling.Methods: Angus steer calves(n = 30), in a completely randomized design, were randomly allotted to three treatment groups at birth, receiving 0, 150,000, or 300,000 IU of vitamin A at both birth and one month of age.A biopsy of the biceps femoris muscle was collected at two months of age. After weaning at 210 d of age, steers were fed a backgrounding diet in a feedlot until 308 d of age, when they were transitioned to a high concentrate finishing diet and implanted with trenbolone/estradiol/tylosin mixture. Steers were harvested at an average of 438 d of age. All diets were formulated to meet nutrient requirements.Results: Weaning weight and weight during the backgrounding phase were linearly increased(P < 0.05) by vitamin A level, though no difference in body weight was observed at harvest. 15Physical characteristics of conditioned anaerobic digested sludge-A fractal, transient and dynamic rheological viewpoint显示文摘The changes in the physical characteristics of unconditioned and conditioned anaerobic digested sludge (ADS) biosolids, such as capillary suction time (CST), yield stress, average size and fractal dimensions, were investigated through a CST test, transient and dynamic rheological test and image analysis. The results showed that the optimum polymer dose range was observed when CST or its reciprocal value was employed as an indicator. There were good correlations between the yield stresses determined from both a controlled shear stress test and a strain amplitude sweep test. The yield stress and storage modulus (G ′ ) increased as the polymer dose increased in most cases. A frequency sweep test revealed that polymer conditioning could extend the frequency sweep ranges for their elastic behaviors over viscous behaviors as well as the gel-like structure in the linear viscoelastic range. These results implied that more deformation energy was stored in this rigid structure, and that elastic behavior became increasingly dominant with the addition of the polymer in most cases. In addition, both the average sizes and two-dimensional fractal dimensions for conditioned ADS biosolids presented a similar up-climax-down variation trend as the polymer doses increased, whereas the critical polymer doses at the highest average sizes or two-dimensional fractal dimensions, were different. 16Single-cell RNA-seq reveals the immune escape and drug resistance mechanisms of mantle cell lymphoma显示文摘Objective:Mantle cell lymphoma(MCL)is a rare subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma(NHL)with high heterogeneity and a high recurrence rate.How heterogenous cell populations contribute to relapse remains to be elucidated.Methods:We performed single cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq)on approximately 4,000 bone marrow cells sampled from one patient with multidrug resistant MCL.We identified 10 subpopulations comprising 4 malignant B cell subtypes,3 T cell subtypes,2 dendritic cell subtypes and 1 natural killer(NK)cell subtype.Subsequently,we identified cell markers,including a series of genes associated with immune escape and drug resistance.In addition,we explored the roles of these genes in the mechanism of immune escape and drug resistance,and we verified the expression imbalance and clinical prognostic potential by using GEO datasets including 211 MCL samples.Results:The major immune escape mechanisms of MCL included anti-perforin activity,decreased immunogenicity and direct inhibition of apoptosis and cell killing,as mediated by type I and II B cells.The drug resistance mechanisms of different cell clusters included drug metabolism,DNA damage repair,apoptosis and survival promotion.Type III B cells closely communicate with other cells.The key genes involved in the resistance mechanisms showed dysregulated expression and may have significant clinical prognostic value.Conclusion:This study investigated potential immune escape and drug resistance mechanisms in MCL.The results may guide individualized treatment and promote the development of therapeutic drugs.Liang Wang Steven Mo Xin Li Yingzhi He Jing Yang 2020Cancer Biology & Medicine2020,17,3:5

20A Fusion Steganographic Algorithm Based on Faster R-CNN显示文摘The aim of information hiding is to embed the secret message in a normal cover media such as image,video,voice or text,and then the secret message is transmitted through the transmission of the cover media.The secret message should not be damaged on the process of the cover media.In order to ensure the invisibility of secret message,complex texture objects should be chosen for embedding information.In this paper,an approach which corresponds multiple steganographic algorithms to complex texture objects was presented for hiding secret message.Firstly,complex texture regions are selected based on a kind of objects detection algorithm.Secondly,three different steganographic methods were used to hide secret message into the selected block region.Experimental results show that the approach enhances the security and robustness.Ruohan Meng Steven G.Rice Jin Wang Xingming Sun 2018Computers, Materials & Continua2018,,4:4
