Mesoscale Dynamics and Its Application in Torrential Rainfall Systems in China显示文摘Progress over the past decade in understanding moisture-driven dynamics and torrential rain storms in China is reviewed in this paper. First, advances in incorporating moisture effects more realistically into theory are described, including the development of a new parameter, generalized moist potential vorticity(GMPV) and an improved moist ageostrophic Q vector(Qum). Advances in vorticity dynamics are also described, including the adoption of a 'parcel dynamic' approach to investigate the development of the vertical vorticity of an air parcel; a novel theory of slantwise vorticity development, proposed because vorticity develops easily near steep isentropic surfaces; and the development of the convective vorticity vector(CVV)as an effective new tool. The significant progress in both frontal dynamics and wave dynamics is also summarized, including the geostrophic adjustment of initial unbalanced flow and the dual role of boundary layer friction in frontogenesis, as well as the interaction between topography and fronts, which indicate that topographic perturbations alter both frontogenesis and frontal structure. For atmospheric vortices, mixed wave/vortex dynamics has been extended to explain the propagation of spiral rainbands and the development of dynamical instability in tropical cyclones. Finally, we review wave and basic flow interaction in torrential rainfall, for which it was necessary to extend existing theory from large-scale flows to mesoscale fields, enriching our knowledge of mesoscale atmospheric dynamics. | GAO Shouting TAN Zhemin ZHAO Sixiong LUO Zhexian LU Hancheng WANG Donghai CUI Chunguang CUI Xiaopeng SUN Jianhua | 2015 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2015,32,2: | 4
An improved approach for the application of Trombe wall system to building construction with selective thermo-insulation faades显示文摘An improved Trombe wall is proposed to adapt to building construction with selective thermo-insula-tion faades (internal and cavity wall insulation, but not external wall insulation system). The case study is conducted in Xining, Capital city of Qinghai province in China, where the general building faades are mostly selective thermo-insulation faades to fight against the severe cold. A numerical analysis is undertaken to show the effects on the improvement of the building's thermal environment by comparing the improved Trombe wall system with the classical Trombe wall system. The operating efficiency of the improved Trombe wall can be up to 33.85%, an increase of 56%. The results show that the improved Trombe wall works more effectively than the classical Trombe wall system in utilizing solar energy for the sample building. | JI Jie LUO ChengLong SUN Wei YU HanCheng HE Wei PEI Gang | 2009 | Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,11: | 3
Tectonics-palaeogeomorphology in rift basins: controlling effect on the sequence architecture显示文摘The relationship between deposition and tectonics of sedimentary basins has been a significant subject in recent years.Using typical rift basins such as the Nanpu Sag as an example, combined with the analysis of the tectonics-palaeogeomorphology of basins,we undertook a detailed study of the differences of the third-order sequences in different basins, the combination of depositional systems within the sequence framework and the distribution of depocenters and subsidence centers. Our results revealed a significant relationship between the tectonics-palaeogeomorphology of rift basins and the filling styles of sedimentary sequences. The basin structure plays a primary role in controlling the development of the third-order sequences and the boundary of these sequences is easily formed in basins with gentle slopes, shallow water and a small area. The characteristics of the tectonics-palaeogeomorphology of rift basins are dominated by half-grabens of extensional faults, which affect the temporal and spatial combination of sedimentary systems within the sequences as well as the distribution of depocenters and subsidence centers.Based on the development rules of the faults dominating the half-grabens of extensional faults, rift basins are classified into two types: the single fault segmented-linkage type and the multi-fault combination type. The main controlling factors of the temporal and spatial combination of sedimentary systems and the distribution of depocenters and subsidence centers in different basins are different. The characteristics of early segmentation and later linkage of the faults play a critical role in controlling the sedimentary system combination within the sequence framework and the temporal and spatial differences of depocenters and subsidence centers of the single fault segmented-linkage rift basins, while the differences in fault activities are the dominating factors of the multi-fault combination rift basins. | Ji Hancheng Jia Haibo Sun Simin Chen Liang Tang Yang Chen Wei Geng Yikai Zhou Hang | 2013 | Petroleum Science2013,10,4: | 3
Highly selective metal recovery from spent lithium-ion batteries through stoichiometric hydrogen ion replacement显示文摘Spent lithium-ion battery recycling has attracted significant attention because of its importance in regard to the environment and resource importance.Traditional hydrometallurgical methods usually leach all valuable metals and subsequently extract target meals to prepare corresponding materials. However,Li recovery in these processes requires lengthy operational procedures, and the recovery efficiency is low.In this research,we demonstrate a method to selectively recover lithium before the leaching of other elements by introducing a hydrothermal treatment.Approximately 90%of Li is leached from high-Ni layered oxide cathode powders, while consuming a nearly stoichiometric amount of hydrogen ions. With this selective recovery of Li,the transition metals remain as solid residue hydroxides or oxides.Furthermore, the extraction of Li is found to be highly dependent on the content of transition metals in the cathode materials.A high leaching selectivity of Li(>98%)and nearly 95%leaching efficiency of Li can be reached with LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2).In this case, both the energy and material consumption during the proposed Li recovery is significantly decreased compared to traditional methods;furthermore, the proposed method makes full use of H+to leach Li+.This research is expected to provide new understanding for selectively recovering metal from secondary resources. | Weiguang Lv Xiaohong Zheng Li Li Hongbin Cao Yi Zhang Renjie Chen Hancheng Ou Fei Kang Zhi Sun | 2021 | Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2021,15,5: | 1

A proposed design of flow diverter and it’s hemodynamic validation显示文摘Flow diverter intervention is a cutting-edge treatment for intracranial aneurysms by altering the flow field and reducing the pressure in the aneurysm sac. However, the rupture rate and complications rate are still high.In this study,a new design of flow diverter based on Bernoulli’s equation was proposed and hemodynamics evaluation of it was conducted. The numerical model of a patient specific internal carotid aneurysm was established based on computed tomography scan images(Model C).The aneurysm models with normal diverter(ND)and local stenosed diverter(LSD)were modified from the patient-specific model. The blood flow characteristics were obtained and analyzed by numerical simulation while the in vitro experiments were conducted using three-dimensional printed silicone models and pressure measurement system. In both ND and LSD models, the blood flow into the aneurysm have been significantly blocked by the diverters and the pressure in the aneurysm sac have been decreased. The pressure drop and the wall shear stress on the aneurysm wall in the LSD model are higher than that in the ND model. The oscillatory shear index and relative residence time in the aneurysm wall of LSD are lower than that in the ND model. The pressure measurement in the vitro experiment also qualitatively verified the results of pressure comparison in the numerical simulation. In conclusion, the simulation results and in vitro experiments verified that diverter can certainly reduce the pressure in the aneurysm, and the newly design diverter with local stenosis can strengthening this effect. | Anqiang Sun Chengcheng Zhao Zujie Gao Xiaoyan Deng Hancheng Qiu | 2021 | Medicine in Novel Technology and Devices2021,,1: | 1
