Multispherical interactions and their effects on the Tibetan Plateau's earth system: a review of the recent researches显示文摘The Tibetan Plateau(TP) is a regional Earth system showing very strong interactions among its lithosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, biosphere, atmosphere, and anthrosphere. hese interactions manifest TP's impact on surrounding regions and relect TP's response to the global change. Quantifying the multispherical interactions is critically important to understand the TP environment. Our recent years researches including the ongoing program entitled ‘Tibetan Multi-Spheres Interactions and heir Resource-Environment Signiicance(TIMI)', the completed program entitled. ‘Paleo-Altitudes of Tibetan Plateau and Environment(PATE)', as well as the other relating projects have focused on multidisciplinary research approaches and emphasized on three major pathways: Eurasia-Indian plates collision on deep-Earth dynamics, uplit impact on Earth's mantle–crust dynamics, and contemporary interface on land surface and atmospheric dynamics. Our researches have taken in situ measurement as priority and developed several platforms of data acquisition and analysis, including the platforms of water-phase transformations, and ecosystem observations. Our ield investigations have been conducted to obtain data about stratum, paleontology, paleoenvironment, genetic diferentiation of animals and plants. We have developed conceptual and mathematical models for crust uplit formation, paleoclimate, glacial melt, water–air interface lux, vegetation climate, and soil erosion. We have also assessed the anthropogenic impacts on environment. Our researches have achieved new and reliable redating of the mantle–crust interaction and initial formation of the TP, found the interaction between tectonics and uplit of the TP and resultant paleoaltitude acting as a spreading source; discovered the interaction between the westerlies and Indian monsoon acting as a control chain that dominates the TP's contemporary environment. he scientiic results can play fundamental roles in supporting the TP's resource exploration and societal sustainable development.Tandong Yao Fuyuan Wu Lin Ding Jimin Sun Liping Zhu Shilong Piao Tao Deng Xijun Ni Hongbo Zheng Hua Ouyang 2015National Science Review2015,2,4:35
The effects of simulated nitrogen deposition on extracellular enzyme activities of litter and soil among different-aged stands of larch显示文摘Aims Nitrogen(N)addition could affect the rate of forest litter and soil organic matter decomposition by regulating extracellular enzyme activity(EEa).The impact of N addition on EEa may differ across different age stands with different organic matter quality. We were interested in whether the impact of N addition on EEa in litter and mineral soil during the growing season was dependent on stand age of a larch plantation in North China. Methods We added three levels of N(0,20 and 50 kg N ha^(−1) year^(−1))in three age stands(11,20 and 45 years old)of Larix principis-rupprech-tii plantation in North China. We measured potential activities of β-1,4-glucosidase(b),cellobiohydrolase(Cb),β-1,4-N-acetyl-glucosaminidase(Nag)and phenol oxidase(Po)in litter(organic horizon)and mineral soil(0-10 cm)during the second growing sea-son after N amendment. We also measured C and N concentrations, microbial biomass C and N,and KCl-extractable ammonium and nitrate in both litter and mineral soil.Important Findings We observed unimodal patterns of EEa during the growing season in all three stands, consistent with the seasonal variations of soil temperature.stand age had a strong effect on EEa in both litter and mineral soil, and this effect differed between litter and mineral soil as well as between different enzymes.N addition did not significantly affect the activities of b or Cb but significantly suppressed the activity of Nag in litter. We also found stand age-specific responses of Po activity to N addition in both litter and mineral soil.N addition suppressed Po activity of the high C:N ratio litters in 20-and 45-year-old stands but had no significant effect on Po activity of the low C:N ratio litter in 11-year-old stand.moreover,N addition inhibited Po activity of the high C:N ratio soil in 20-year-old stand but had no significant impact on Po activity of the low C:N ratio soils in 11-and 45-year-old stands.overall, stand age had a greater effect on EEa in litter and mineral soil compared to 2 years of N addition.moreover, the effect of N addition on Po activity is stand age dependent, which may affect the long-term soil carbon storage in this forest.Yuecun Ma Biao Zhu Zhenzhong Sun Chuang Zhao Yan Yang Shilong Piao 2014Journal of Plant Ecology2014,7,3:14
The protection effect of β-CD on DNA damage induced by ultrafine TiO_2显示文摘Under the photocatalysis of 365 nm ultraviolet radiation, ultrafine TiO2 caused the oxidative damage of Teasy plasmid DNA. The damage was determined by gel-electrophoresis. Then,a different dose of β-CD was added to the reaction, and the damage was restrained. The rate of damage restraining reached 97% when the mass of β-CD was 4 times as that of TiO2. Through UV scan and IR spectroscopy,it was found that the Ti-O of ultrafine TiO2 was bound with -OH of β-CD cavum and the -OH on the surface of ultrafine TiO2 disappeared,so the formation of ?OH was controlled. The ultrafine TiO2 has been widely used, but it was determined to be carcinogenic by some research. The protection effect of β-CD to DNA in the molecular level takes a new look on the surface modification of nano particles to decrease the toxic effect.ZHU RongRong,WANG ShiLong,SUN XiaoYu,ZHANG Rui & YAO SiDe School of Life Science and Technology,Tongji University,Shanghai 200092,China 2007Science China Chemistry2007,50,2:5
Three-stage Method for Identifying the Dynamic Model Parameters of Stranded Wire Helical Springs显示文摘The dynamic behavior of the stranded wire helical spring is described by a modified Bouc-Wen model while the model parameters must be identified using an identification method and experimental data. Existing identification methods usually relies either solely nonlinear iterative algorithms or manually trial and error. Therefore, the identification process can be rather time consuming and effort taking. As a result, these methods are not ideal for engineering applications. To come up with a more practical method, a three-stage identification method is proposed. Periodic loading and identification simulations are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. Noises are added to the simulated data to test the performance of the proposed method when dealing with noise contaminated data. The simulation results indicate that the proposed method is able to give satisfying results when the noise levels are set to be 0.01, 0.03, 0.05 and 0.07. In addition, the proposed method is also applied to experimental data and compared with an existing method. The experimental data is acquired through a periodic loading test. The experiment results suggest that the proposed method features better accuracy compared with the existing method. An effective approach is proposed for identifying the model parameters of the stranded wire helical spring.ZHAO Yu WANG Shilong ZHOU Jie LI Chuan SUN Shouli 2015Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2015,28,1:4
Combined amendment reduces soil Cd availability and rice Cd accumulation in three consecutive rice planting seasons显示文摘The scientific application of stabilized materials has been considered an effective method for the in situ remediation of Cd-contaminated soil. This study aimed to investigate the persistence of the effect of a combined amendment of limestone and sepiolite(LS)on soil Cd availability and accumulation in rice grown in a mildly Cd-contaminated paddy field(0.45 mg/kg of Cd)over three consecutive rice seasons.1125–4500 kg/ha of LS was applied to the soil before the first rice planting season and 562.5–2250 kg/ha of LS was supplemented before the third rice planting season. The application of LS(1125–4500 kg/ha)increased the soil p H by 0.44–1.09,0.18–0.53,and 0.42–0.68 in the first, second, and third season, respectively, and decreased the soil acid-extractable Cd content by 18.2–36.4%,17.7–33.5%,and9.6–17.6%.LS application significantly decreased the Cd contents in the rice tissues. The application of 4500 kg/ha of LS decreased the Cd content in brown rice to below the National Food Limit Standard of 0.2 mg/kg(GB 2762-2017)in the three consecutive rice seasons. However, the effect of LS on the soil-rice system was significantly weakened in the third season. The supplementary application of 562.5–2250 kg/ha of LS further decreased the Cd content in brown rice by 26.1–56.5%and decreased the health risk index by 23.7–43.8%.Therefore,it was recommended to apply 4500 kg/ha of LS in the first season and to supplement2250 kg/ha of LS in the third season to effectively guarantee the clean production of rice in three consecutive rice seasons.Wenjun Yang Shilong Wang Hang Zhou Min Zeng Jingyi Zhang Fang Huang Shiping Shan Zhaohui Guo Hongwei Yi Zhiguang Sun Jiaofeng Gu Bohan Liao 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,1:4

Rapid generation of ACE2 humanized inbred mouse model for COVID-19 with tetraploid complementation显示文摘Although monkeys and pigs can be infected with SARS-Co V-2,they generally have a long growth cycle and a large size that is difficult to handle in large quantities. However, the readily available rats and mice are not susceptible to SARSCo V-2 because of differences in ACE2(angiotensin-converting enzyme 2),the receptor mediating cell entry of SARSCo V-2[1].Thus,the key to establishing a mouse model of COVID-19 is to make the mice express human ACE2 protein, and therefore become SARS-Co V-2 susceptible.Recently reported COVID-19 mouse models using a random insertion transgene approach[2,3]or adenoviral approach to express h ACE2[4],lack the tissue-specificity of h ACE2 expression and might not replicate COVID-19 precisely, limiting their applications in certain studies.Feng-Liang Liu Kaixin Wu Jiaoyang Sun Zilei Duan Xiongzhi Quan Junqi Kuang Shilong Chu Wei Pang Han Gao Ling Xu Ying-Chang Li Hai-Lin Zhang Xue-Hui ang Rong-Hua Luo Xiao-Li Feng Hans RScholer Xinwen Chen Duanqing Pei Guangming Wu Yong-Tang Zheng Jiekai Chen 2021National Science Review2021,8,2:3
Impact and mechanism of TiO_2 nanoparticles on DNA synthesis in vitro显示文摘The impact of TiO2 nanoparticles on DNA synthesis in vitro in the dark and the molecular mechanism of such impact were studied. The impact of TiO2 nanoparticles on DNA synthesis was investigated by adding TiO2 nanoparticles in different sizes and at various concentrations into the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) system. TiO2 nanoparticles were premixed with the DNA polymerase, the primer or the template, respectively and then the supernatant and the precipitation of each mixture were added into the PCR system separately to observe the impact on DNA synthesis. Sequentially the interaction be- tween TiO2 nanoparticles and the DNA polymerase, the primer or the template was further analyzed by using UV-visible spectroscopy and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE). The results suggest that TiO2 nanoparticles inhibit DNA synthesis in the PCR system in the dark more severely than mi- croscale TiO2 particles at the equivalent concentration and the inhibition effect of TiO2 nanoparticles is concentration dependent. The molecular mechanism of such inhibition is that in the dark, TiO2 nanoparticles interact with the DNA polymerase through physical adsorption while TiO2 nanoparticles do with the primer or the template in a chemical adsorption manner. The disfunction levels of the bio-molecules under the impact of TiO2 nanoparticles are in the following order: the primer > the tem- plate > the DNA polymerase.LI ShiQiang, ZHU Hong, ZHU RongRong, SUN XiaoYu, YAO SiDe & WANG ShiLong School of Life Science and Technology, Tongji University, Shanghai 200092, China 2008Science China Chemistry2008,51,4:3
CO_(2) hydrogenation to methanol over Rh/In_(2)O_(3)–ZrO_(2)catalyst with improved activity显示文摘The In_(2)O_(3)supported rhodium catalyst has been previously confirmed to be active for CO_(2)hydrogenation to methanol. In this work, the In_(2)O_(3)–ZrO_(2)solid solution was prepared and employed to support the rhodium catalyst. The deposition-precipitation method was applied to make the Rh catalyst highly dispersed. The catalyst characterization confirms that the use of ZrO_(2)optimizes and stabilizes the oxygen vacancies of In_(2)O_(3),which causes the enhanced adsorption and activation of CO_(2).The highly dispersed Rh catalyst remarkably improves the hydrogenation ability of the In_(2)O_(3)–ZrO_(2)support.Compared to Rh/In_(2)O_(3),the In_(2)O_(3)–ZrO_(2)supported Rh catalyst shows significantly higher activity with high methanol selectivity. For instance,at 300℃ and 5 MPa,the methanol selectivity over Rh/In_(2)O_(3)–ZrO_(2)reaches 66.5%with a space-time yield(STY)of methanol of 0.684 g MeOH h^(-1) g cat-1 and a CO_(2)conversion of 18.1%.The methanol selectivity and methanol STY at 300℃ is 19% and 26% higher than that of the Rh/In_(2)O_(3)catalyst.Zhe Lu Jing Wang Kaihang Sun Shilong Xiong Zhitao Zhang Chang-jun Liu 2022Green Chemical Engineering2022,3,2:2
Interlayer-confined two-dimensional manganese oxide-carbon nanotube catalytic ozonation membrane for efficient water purification显示文摘Catalytic ozonation technology has attracted copious attention in water purification owing to its favorable oxidative degradation of pollutants and mitigation of membrane fouling capacity. However, its extensive industrial application has been restricted by the low ozone utilization and limited mass transfer of the short-lived radical species.Interlayer space-confined catalysis has been theoretically proven to be a viable strategy for achieving high catalytic efficiency. Here,a two-dimensional MnO_(2)-incorporated ceramic membrane with tunable interspacing, which was obtained via the intercalation of a carbon nanotube, was designed as a catalytic ozonation membrane reactor for degrading methylene blue.Benefiting from the abundant catalytic active sites on the surface of two-dimensional MnO_(2) as well as the ultralow mass transfer resistance of fluids due to the nanolayer confinement,an excellent mineralization effect,i.e.,1.2 mg O_(3)(aq)mg^(-1) TOC removal(a total organic carbon removal rate of 71.5%),was achieved within a hydraulic retention time of 0.045 s of pollutant degradation.Further, the effects of hydraulic retention time and interlayer spacing on methylene blue removal were investigated. Moreover, the mechanism of the catalytic ozonation employing catalytic ozonation membrane was proposed based on the contribution of the Mn(III/IV)redox pair to electron transfer to generate the reactive oxygen species. This innovative twodimensional confinement catalytic ozonation membrane could act as a nanoreactor and separator to efficiently oxidize organic pollutants and enhance the control of membrane fouling during water purification.Dean Xu Tong Ding Yuqing Sun Shilong Li Wenheng Jing 2022Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2022,16,5:1

Photochemical properties of a new kind of anti-cancer drug: N-glycoside compound显示文摘Due to the nontoxicity and efficient anti-cancer activity, more and more attention has been paid to N-glycoside compounds. Laser photolysis of N-(α-D-glucopyranoside) salicyloyl hydrazine (NGSH) has been performed for the first time. The research results show that NGSH has high photosensitivity and is vulnerable to be photo-ionized via a monophotonic process with a quantum yield of 0.02, generating NGSH+· and hydrated electrons. Under the aerobic condition of cells, the hydrated electrons are very easy to combine with oxygen to generate 1O2 and O2-, both of which are powerful oxidants that can kill the cancer cells. In addition, NGSH+· can be changed into neutral radicals by deprotonation with a pKa value of 4.02 and its decay constant was determined to be 2.55×109dm3·mol-1·s-1. NGSH also can be oxidized by SO4-. with a rate constant of 1.76×109 dm3·mol-1.s-1, which further confirms the results of photoionization. All of these results suggest that this new N-glycoside compound might be useful for cancer treatment.ZHAO Ping WANG Mei ZHANG ShuPing SHAO SiChang SUN XiaoYu YAO SiDe WANG ShiLong 2008Science China Chemistry2008,51,9:1
Microstructure of flow pattern defects in boron-doped Czochralski-grown silicon显示文摘The morphology and microstructure of flow pattern defects (FPDs) in lightly boron-doped Czochralski-grown silicon (Cz-Si) crystals were investigated using optical microscopy and atomic force microscopy. The experimental results showed that the morphology of FPDs was parabola-like with several steps. Single-type and dual-type voids were found on the tip of FPDs and two heaves exist on the left and right sides of the void. All the results have proved that FPDs were void-type defects. These results are very useful to investigate FPDs in Cz-Si wafers further and explain the annihilation of FPDs during high-temperature annealing.LIU Caichi HAO Qiuyan ZHANG Jianfeng TENG Xiaoyun Sun Shilong Qigang Zhou WANG Jing XIAO Qinghua 2006Rare Metals2006,25,4:1

Effects of high-energy-pulse-electron beam radiation on biomacromolecules显示文摘To study the molecular mechanism of high mutation frequency induced by high-energy-pulse-electron (HEPE) beam radiation, the effects of HEPE radiation on yeast cells, plasma membrane, plasmid DNA, and protein activity were investigated by means of cell counting, gel electrophoresis, AO/EB double fluorescent staining, etc. The results showed that the viability of yeast cells declined statistically with increase of absorbed doses. The half lethal dose (LD50) was 134 Gy. HEPE beam radiation had little influence on the function of plasma membrane and protein, while it could induce much DNA damage of single strand breaks (SSB) and double strand breaks (DSB) that were required for gene mutation. The G-value for DSB formation of HEPE beam radiation in aqueous solution was 5.7 times higher than that caused by 60Co gamma rays. HEPE can be a new effective method for induced mutation breeding and deserves further research in the future.ZHU Hong XU JingZao LI ShiQiang SUN XiaoYu YAO SiDe WANG ShiLong 2008Science China Chemistry2008,51,1:1
Contrasting effects of N addition on the N and P status of understory vegetation in plantations of sapling and mature Larix principis-rupprechtii显示文摘Aims The productivity of forest plantations in temperate areas is often lim-ited by nitrogen(N),but may shift towards phosphorus(P)limitation with increasing atmospheric N deposition.Nutrient resorption is a nutrient conservation strategy in plants.Although data on nutrient resorption are available for overstory trees, there are few data for understory vegetation. Methods We examined leaf N and P concentrations and N and P resorption efficiencies(NRE and PRE,respectively)in eight understory species in 11-and 45-year-old Larix principis-rupprechtii stands subjected to N supplementation over a 3-year period.Important findings Leaf N concentrations and N:P ratios increased and P concentrations decreased, with N input in species within the 45-year-old stand, but not in the 11-year-old stand.NRE and PRE were not altered by N input in any of the species in either stand, but N resorption pro-ficiency decreased and P resorption proficiency increased,in the species in the 45-year-old stand. Thus, the growth of understory species may be more P-limited in the 45-versus 11-year-old stand, and nutrient resorption proficiency was more sensitive to N add-ition than nutrient resorption efficiency. These results will improve the understanding of nutrient use strategies and their responses to N addition in understory vegetation. The contrasting effects of N addition on nutrient status between stand ages cannot be ignored when modeling ecosystem nutrient cycling under global N depos-ition conditions.Tao Yan Tiantian Qu Huanhuan Song Philippe Ciais Shilong Piao Zhenzhong Sun Hui Zeng 2018Journal of Plant Ecology2018,11,6:1
Mild hypothermia effects on intercellular adhesion molecule-1 and serum interleukin-6 expression in brain tissues of a rat focal ischemia model显示文摘BACKGROUND: Previous studies have confirmed the neuroprotective effect of mild hypothermia on ischemic brain injury. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of mild hypothermia on intercellular adhesion molecule-1 expression and serum interleukin-6 levels in ischemic brain tissues of focal brain ischemia rats, and to explore the neuroprotective effects of mild hypothermia on ischemic brain injury. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A randomized, controlled, neurobiological experiment was performed at the Central Laboratory, First Affiliated Hospital, Xinxiang Medical College, China from February to July 2006. MATERIALS: Thirty healthy, adult, Sprague Dawley rats were used to establish middle cerebral artery occlusion models using the suture method. The immunohistochemistry (streptavidin-biotin-peroxidase complex method) kit was purchased from Boster, China. Interleukin-6 radioimmunoassay was supplied by Institute of Radioimmunity, Technology Development Center, General Hospital of Chinese PLA. METHODS: The rats were equally and randomly assigned into mild hypothermia and control groups, and middle cerebral artery occlusion models were established. The rectal temperature was maintained at (37 ± 0.5) ℃ in the control group. In the mild hypothermia group, the rectal temperature was maintained at (33 ± 1) ℃. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: At 12 hours after model establishment, the ischemic brain hemispheres were coronally sliced at the level of the optic chiasm. The number of intercellular adhesion molecule-1-positive vessels per high-power field was observed with an optical microscope. Serum interleukin-6 levels were measured by radioimmunoassay. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, intercellular adhesion molecule-1 and serum interleukin-6 expressions were significantly decreased in ischemic brain tissues of the mild hypothermia group (P < 0.01). CONCLUSION: Mild hypothermia exhibits a neuroprotective effect by reducing serum interleukin-6 and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 expression following cerebral ischemia.Shengqi Fu Lei Yang Shuling Zhang Shilong Sun Xingai Mao 2008Neural Regeneration Research2008,3,10:1
