| 2 | Xanthine oxidase inhibitors from Archidendron clypearia(Jack.) I.C. Nielsen: Results from systematic screening of Vietnamese medicinal plants显示文摘Objective: To screen Vietnamese medicinal plants for xanthine oxidase(XO) inhibitory activity and to isolate XO inhibitor(s) from the most active plant. Methods: The plants materials were extracted by methanol. The active plant materials were fractionated using different organic solvents, including n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and n-butanol. Bioassay-guided fractionation and column chromatography were used to isolate compounds. The compounds structures were elucidated by analysis of spectroscopic data, including IR, MS, and NMR. Results: Three hundreds and eleven methanol extracts(CME) belonging to 301 Vietnamese herbs were screened for XO inhibitory activity. Among these plants, 57 extracts displayed XO inhibitory activity at 100 μg/m L with inhibition rates of over 50%. The extracts of Archidendron clypearia, Smilax poilanei, Linociera ramiflora and Passiflora foetida exhibited the greatest potency with IC_(50) values below 30 μg/m L. Chemical study performed on the extract of Archidendron clypearia resulted in the isolation of six compounds, including 1-octacosanol, docosenoic acid, daucosterol, methyl gallate, quercitrin and(-)-7-O-galloyltricetiflavan. The compound(-)-7-O-galloyltricetiflavan showed the most potent XO inhibitory activity with an IC_(50) value of 25.5 μmol/L. Conclusions: From this investigation, four Vietnamese medicinal plants were identified to have XO inhibitory effects with IC_(50) values of the methanol extracts below 30 μg/m L. | 3 | COVID-19 vaccination intention among healthcare workers in Vietnam显示文摘Objective:To assess the acceptance of coronavirus disease(COVID-19)vaccine among healthcare workers at two general hospitals in Vietnam when it is available.Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted using a convenience sampling from January to February 2021 among 410 healthcare workers at two general hospitals in Vietnam via a selfadministered questionnaire.A multivariable regression analysis was performed to determine predictors of vaccine acceptance including the demographic factors,COVID-19 knowledge,and vaccine beliefs based on the domains of Health Belief Model.Results:Among 410 healthcare workers,76.10%showed vaccination willingness.Predictors of acceptance were determined that the group reporting as“vaccine acceptance”was more likely to be positive towards the perceived susceptibility and severity of COVID-19(OR 2.45;95%CI 1.48-4.06,P<0.05),perceived benefits of vaccination,and cues to action(OR 4.36;95%CI 2.35-8.09,and OR 5.49;95%CI 2.84-10.61,respectively,all P<0.001),but less likely to have the perceived barriers to vaccination(OR 0.19;95%CI 0.09-0.38;P<0.001)compared with the no acceptance group.Besides,people who had a good knowledge regarding the severity of illness were 3.37 times more likely to have identified as vaccine acceptance(OR 3.37;95%CI 1.04-10.86,P<0.05).The demographic factors were also associated with willingness to receive the vaccine,with participants who were staff and received COVID-19 information from relatives were less likely to accept the vaccine over those who were doctors and not receiving information from relatives(OR 0.36;95%CI 0.13-0.96,and OR 0.37;95%CI 0.17-0.78,respectively,all P<0.05).Conclusions:A rate of willingness to get vaccinated against COVID-19 was relatively high with discrepancies between occupation,receiving information from relatives,knowledge toward the severity of illness,and the elements of Health Belief Model.The findings will provide information for the management authorities to develop relevant interventions to promote COVID-19 vaccination uptake. | Giao Huynh Thien Thuan Tran Han Thi Ngoc Nguyen Le An Pham | 2021 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2021，14，4： | 3 |
| 4 | On the Generic Taxonomy of Opisthotropis balteata(Cope, 1895)(Squamata: Colubridae: Natricinae): Taxonomic Revision of Two Natricine Genera显示文摘The single prefrontal configuration has historically been used as an important diagnostic character for many natricine taxa. For example, the genus Trimerodytes Cope, 1895 was long been regarded as a junior synonym of Opisthotropis Günther, 1872 for their similar prefrontal configurations and the type species, T. balteatus Cope, 1895, has been assigned to the genus Opisthotropis. However, as the number and arrangement of prefrontal vary frequently both at species and generic level, it is questionable whether the synonymization of Trimerodytes reflects their evolutionary relationships. On the basis of recently collected specimens of O. balteata, the generic status of the species was assessed using both molecular and morphological data. Opisthotropis was recovered as polyphyletic with reference to O. balteata, because O. balteata is nested within the genus Sinonatrix Rossman and Eberle, 1977 and is the sister species of the type species of Sinonatrix. Consequently, we herein resurrect the long-overlooked synonym Trimerodytes from Opisthotropis and synonymize the junior generic nomen Sinonatrix with Trimerodytes. In addition, based on morphological similarities between the monotypic genus Paratapinophis Angel, 1929 and Trimerodytes, we doubt about the validity of Paratapinophis. | 5 | A New Species of Rhacophorus(Amphibia:Anura:Rhacophoridae)from Vietnam显示文摘We describe a new species of Rhacophorus based on two adult specimens collected from Hoa Binh Province, northern Vietnam. Rhacophorus hoabinhensis sp. nov. is distinguishable from its congeners on the basis of a combination of the following morphological characters: size small(SVL 31.1–32.5 mm in males); head slightly longer than wide; vomerine teeth absent; snout short(SNL/SVL 0.16); dorsal skin smooth; forearm and tarsus with dermal fringes; dermal appendage at vent present; webbing formula on fingers Ⅰ12/3-12/3 Ⅱ1-2 Ⅲ1-1 Ⅳ and on toes Ⅰ3/4-1 Ⅱ1/2-1Ⅲ1/2-1 Ⅳ1-1/2Ⅳ; dorsal surface grey yellow with brown spots; lower jaw region dark grey, throat, chest and belly cream; anterior and posterior thighs, as well as ventral surface of tibia orange. The interspecific uncorrected genetic distances(16 S rRNA gene) between the new species from Hoa Binh and other analyzed congeners varied from 9.8% to 17.4%. | 7 | Effects of transcranial ultrasound stimulation pulsed at 40 Hz on Aβplaques and brain rhythms in 5×FAD mice显示文摘Background:Alzheimer's disease(AD)is the most common cause of dementia,and is characterized by amyloid-β(Aβ)plaques and tauopathy.Reducing Aβhas been considered a major AD treatment strategy in pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches.Impairment of gamma oscillations,which play an important role in perception and cognitive function,has been shown in mouse AD models and human patients.Recently,the therapeutic effect of gamma entrainment in AD mouse models has been reported.Given that ultrasound is an emerging neuromodulation modality,we investigated the effect of ultrasound stimulation pulsed at gamma frequency(40 Hz)in an AD mouse model.Methods:We implanted electroencephalogram(EEG)electrodes and a piezo-ceramic disc ultrasound transducer on the skull surface of 6-month-old 5×FAD and wild-type control mice(n=12 and 6,respectively).Six 5×FAD mice were treated with two-hour ultrasound stimulation at 40 Hz daily for two weeks,and the other six mice received sham treatment.Soluble and insoluble Aβlevels in the brain were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Spontaneous EEG gamma power was computed by wavelet analysis,and the brain connectivity was examined with phase-locking value and cross-frequency phase-amplitude coupling.Results:We found that the total Aβ42 levels,especially insoluble Aβ42;in the treatment group decreased in pre-and infra-limbic cortex(PIL)compared to that of the sham treatment group.A reduction in the number of Aβplaques was also observed in the hippocampus.There was no increase in microbleeding in the transcranial ultrasound stimulation(tUS)group.In addition,the length and number of microglial processes decreased in PIL and hippocampus.Encel-phalographic spontaneous gamma power was increased,and cross-frequency coupling was normalized,implying functional improvement after tUS stimulation.Conclusion:These results suggest that the transcranial ultrasound-based gamma-band entrainment technique can be an effective therapy for AD by reducing the Aβload and improving brain connectivity. | Mincheol Park Gia Minh Hoang Thien Nguyen Eunkyung Lee Hyun Jin Jung Youngshik Choe Moon Hwan Lee Jae Youn Hwang Jae Gwan Kim Tae Kim | 2021 | Translational Neurodegeneration2021，10，4： | 2 |

| 12 | Microbial responses to combined oxidation and catalysis treatment of 1,4-dioxane and co-contaminants in groundwater and soil显示文摘Post-treatment impacts of a novel combined hydrogen peroxide(H2O_(2))oxidation and WOx/ZrO_(2) catalysis used for the removal of 1,4-dioxane and chlorinated volatile organic compound(CVOC)contaminants were investigated in soil and groundwater microbial community.This treatment train removed~90%1,4-dioxane regardless of initial concentrations of 1,4-dioxane and CVOCs.The Illumina Miseq platform and bioinformatics were used to study the changes to microbial community structure.This approach determined that dynamic shifts of microbiomes were associated with conditions specific to treatments as well as 1,4-dioxane and CVOCs mixtures.The biodiversity was observed to decrease only after oxidation under conditions that included high levels of 1,4-dioxane and CVOCs,but increased when 1,4-dioxane was present without CVOCs.WO_(x)/ZrO_(2) catalysis reduced biodiversity across all conditions.Taxonomic classification demonstrated oxidative tolerance for members of the genera Massilia and Rhodococcus,while catalyst tolerance was observed for members of the genera Sphingomonas and Devosia.Linear discriminant analysis effect size was a useful statistical tool to highlight representative microbes,while the multidimensional analysis elucidated the separation of microbiomes under the low 1,4-dioxane-only condition from all other conditions containing CVOCs,as well as the differences of microbial population among original,post-oxidation,and post-catalysis states.The results of this study enhance our understanding of microbial community responses to a promising chemical treatment train,and the metagenomic analysis will help practitioners predict the microbial community status during the post-treatment period,which may have consequences for long-term management strategies that include additional biodegradation treatment or natural attenuation. | Yu Miao Nicholas W.Johnson Kimberly Heck Sujin Guo Camilah D.Powell Thien Phan Phillip B.Gedalanga David T.Adamson Charles J.Newell Michael S.Wong Shaily Mahendra | 2018 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2018，12，5： | 2 |
