| 1 | Stephanorhinus kirchbergensis (Rhinocerotidae,Mammalia) from the Rhino Cave in Shennongjia,Hubei显示文摘The Rhino Cave,a Paleolithic site in Shennongjia,is the highest altitude locality of rhinoceros in the Middle-South part of China,and it is also the southernmost and the richest locality in Stephanorhinus kirchbergensis fossils which include cranium,mandibles,isolated teeth and postcranials.These materials can be referred to the species Stephanorhinus kirchbergensis according to the following characters:incisorless,mandibular symphysis contracted,occiput high,subaural channel closed,with nasal and frontal horns,nasal septum partially ossified,premolars hypsodont and cheekteeth with smooth enamel surface,etc.;except its relatively shorter limb bones.In China,all the Pleistocene non-Coelodonta tandem-horned rhinoceroses were assigned to the genus Dicerorhinus in the past decades.From today's viewpoint,most of them should be included in the genus Stephanorhinus,because Dicerorhinus is quite different from Stephanorhinus in the following characters:smaller body size,generally unossified nasal septum,subaural channel open and with reduced incisors,etc.This is the first knowledge of Stephanorhinus kirchbergensis associated with Ailuropoda-Stegodon fauna,the typical Pleistocene mammalian fauna in South China. | TONG HaoWen WU XianZhu | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,12: | 6 |
| 2 | Integration of Multiple Heterointerfaces in a Hierarchical 0D@2D@1D Structure for Lightweight,Flexible,and Hydrophobic Multifunctional Electromagnetic Protective Fabrics显示文摘The development of wearable multifunctional electromagnetic protective fabrics with multifunctional,low cost,and high efficiency remains a challenge.Here,inspired by the unique flower branch shape of“Thunberg’s meadowsweet”in nature,a nanofibrous composite membrane with hierarchical structure was constructed.Integrating sophisticated 0D@2D@1D hierarchical structures with multiple heterointerfaces can fully unleash the multifunctional application potential of composite membrane.The targeted induction method was used to precisely regulate the formation site and morphology of the metal–organic framework precursor,and intelligently integrate multiple heterostructures to enhance dielectric polarization,which improves the impedance matching and loss mechanisms of the electromagnetic wave absorbing materials.Due to the synergistic enhancement of electrospinning-derived carbon nanofiber“stems”,MOF-derived carbon nanosheet“petals”and transition metal selenide nano-particle“stamens”,the CoxSey/NiSe@CNSs@CNFs(CNCC)composite membrane obtains a minimum reflection loss value(RL_(min))of-68.40 dB at 2.6 mm and a maximum effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)of 8.88 GHz at a thin thickness of 2.0 mm with a filling amount of only 5 wt%.In addition,the multi-component and hierarchical heterostructure endow the fibrous membrane with excellent flexibility,water resistance,thermal management,and other multifunctional properties.This work provides unique perspectives for the precise design and rational application of multifunctional fabrics. | Shuo Zhang Xuehua Liu Chenyu Jia Zhengshuo Sun Haowen Jiang Zirui Jia Guanglei Wu | 2023 | Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,11: | 3 |
| 3 | The genomes of medicinal skullcaps reveal the polyphyletic origins of clerodane diterpene biosynthesis in the family Lamiaceae显示文摘The presence of anticancer clerodane diterpenoids is a chemotaxonomic marker for the traditional Chinese medicinal plant Scutellaria barbata,although the molecular mechanisms behind clerodane biosynthesis are unknown.Here,we report a high-quality assembly of the 414.98 Mb genome of S.barbata into 13 pseudochromosomes.Using phylogenomic and biochemical data,we mapped the plastidial metabolism of kaurene(gibberellins),abietane,and clerodane diterpenes in three species of the family Lamiaceae(Scutellaria barbata,Scutellaria baicalensis,and Salvia splendens),facilitating the identification of genes involved in the biosynthesis of the clerodanes,kolavenol,and isokolavenol.We show that clerodane biosynthesis evolved through recruitment and neofunctionalization of genes from gibberellin and abietane metabolism.Despite the assumed monophyletic origin of clerodane biosynthesis,which is widespread in species of the Lamiaceae,our data show distinct evolutionary lineages and suggest polyphyletic origins of clerodane biosynthesis in the family Lamiaceae.Our study not only provides significant insights into the evolution of clerodane biosynthetic pathways in the mint family,Lamiaceae,but also will facilitate the production of anticancer clerodanes through future metabolic engineering efforts. | Haixiu Li Song Wu Ruoxi Lin Yiren Xiao Ana Luisa Malaco Morotti Ya Wang Meytal Galilee Haowen Qin Tao Huang Yong Zhao Xun Zhou Jun Yang Qing Zhao Angelos K.Kanellis Cathie Martin Evangelos C.Tatsis | 2023 | Molecular Plant2023,16,3: | 2 |

| 5 | Bias correction of sea surface temperature retrospective forecasts in the South China Sea显示文摘Offline bias correction of numerical marine forecast products is an effective post-processing means to improve forecast accuracy. Two offline bias correction methods for sea surface temperature(SST) forecasts have been developed in this study: a backpropagation neural network(BPNN) algorithm, and a hybrid algorithm of empirical orthogonal function(EOF) analysis and BPNN(named EOF-BPNN). The performances of these two methods are validated using bias correction experiments implemented in the South China Sea(SCS), in which the target dataset is a six-year(2003–2008) daily mean time series of SST retrospective forecasts for one-day in advance, obtained from a regional ocean forecast and analysis system called the China Ocean Reanalysis(CORA),and the reference time series is the gridded satellite-based SST. The bias-correction results show that the two methods have similar good skills;however, the EOF-BPNN method is more than five times faster than the BPNN method. | 7 | Development of swashplateless helicopter blade pitch control system using the limited angle direct-drive motor(LADDM)显示文摘It can be greatly beneficial to remove the swashplate of conventional helicopter, because the swashplate is usually complicated, aerodynamically resistive, and obstacle of more complex pitch control for improving performance. The present technologies for helicopter vibration reduction are usually narrow in effective range or requiring additional actuators and signal transfer links,and more effective technology is desired. Helicopter blade pitch control system, which is removed of swashplate and integrated high-frequency pitch control function for active vibration reduction, is likely the suitable solution at current technical level. Several potential implementation schemes are discussed, such as blades being directly or indirectly driven by actuators mounted in rotating frame and application of different types of actuators, especially implementation schemes of electro-mechanical actuator with or without gear reducer. It is found that swashplateless blade pitch control system based on specially designed limited angle direct-drive motor(LADDM) is a more practical implementation scheme. An experimental prototype of the finally selected implementation scheme has been designed, fabricated and tested on rotor tower. | 8 | Association between Metabolic Dysfunction-associated Fatty Liver Disease and Cognitive Impairment显示文摘Background and Aims:Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)is a newly proposed term based on modified criteria.Although nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)has been well-documented as a multisystem dis-ease,research on the correlation of MAFLD and extra-hepatic diseases is limited.This study aimed to clarify the association of MAFLD,as well as NAFLD status with cognitive function.Methods:A total of 5,662 participants 20-59 years of age who underwent cognitive tests and liver ultrasonography in the Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were included in the analysis.Cognitive function was evalu-ated using three computer-administered tests,the serial dig-it learning test(SDLT),the simple reaction time test(SRTT)and the symbol digit substitution test(SDST).Results:Par-ticipants with MAFLD had significantly poorer performance on the SRTT[odds ratio(OR)1.47,95%confidence interval(CI):1.14-1.89)].MAFLD with moderate-severe liver stea-tosis was associated with higher risks of scoring low in the SDLT(OR 1.37,95%CI:1.04-1.82)and SRTT(OR 1.55,95%CI:1.19-2.02).NAFLD combined with metabolic dys-function,instead of NAFLD without metabolic disorders,was associated an increased risk of a low SRTT score(OR 1.44,95%CI:1.10-1.82).MAFLD patients had a high probability of fibrosis,prediabetes,and diabetes and were also signifi-cantly associated with increased risks based on the SDST or SRTT score.Conclusions:MAFLD was significantly associ-ated with increased risk of cognitive impairment,especially among MAFLD patients with a high degree of liver fibrosis,moderate-severe steatosis,or hyperglycemia. | Qiang Yu Ruixin He Haowen Jiang Ji Wu Zhifeng Xi Kang He Yongbo Liu Tao Zhou Mingxuan Feng Ping Wan Hexin Yan Qiang Xia | 2022 | Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2022,10,6: | 1 |

| 10 | Floating Escherichia coli by Expressing Cyanobacterial Gas Vesicle Genes显示文摘Gas vesicles are hollow, air-filled polyprotein structures that provide the buoyancy to cells. They are found in a variety of prokaryotes. In this study, we isolated a partial gas vesicle protein gene cluster containing gvp A and gvp C20Ψ from Planktothrix rubescens, and inserted it into an expression vector and expressed it in E. coli. The gas vesicle was developed in bacterial cells, which made bacterial cells to float on medium surface. We also amplified gvp A and gvp C20Ψ separately and synthesized an artificial operon by fusing these two genes with the standardized gene expression controlling elements of E. coli. The artificial operon was expressed in E. coli, forming gas vesicles and floating bacteria cells. Our findings verified that the whole set of genes and the overall structure of gas vesicle gene cluster are not necessary for developing gas vesicles in bacteria cells. Two genes, gvp A and gvp C20Ψ, of the gas vesicle gene cluster are sufficient for synthesizing an artificial operon that can develop gas vesicles in bacteria cells. | 16 | Thermal Inertia of 330 MW Circulating Fluidized Bed Boiler during Load Change显示文摘The operating principles of Circulating Fluidized Bed(CFB)boilers involve a significant amount of heat accumulation,which forms the thermal inertia of the boiler and hinders the improvement of its variable load response rate.This study aims to characterize the thermal inertia of CFB boilers by evaluating the change in the boiler's heat accumulation corresponding to the change in unit power generation.The thermal inertia of a 330MW CFB boiler was determined through the collection of operating data under four different operating conditions of 30%,50%,75%,and 100%load.The study proposes to substitute the existing refractory material with a metal grille to reduce the thermal inertia of the boiler.The effect of the metal grille on heat transfer was confirmed through verification on a 440 t/h CFB boiler,and its performance change and thermal inertia reduction were further predicted.The results indicate that over 50%of the total thermal inertia of CFB boilers originates from the refractory material.The use of metal grille in place of refractory material improved heat transfer in the furnace,resulting in a decrease of the furnace chamber temperature by 13℃in the 330 MW CFB boiler.This reduction of thermal inertia by 30%-35%will facilitate faster load lifting and lowering of the boiler,fulfilling the requirement for flexible peaking. | SUN Guorui WU Haowen LIU Shangzhong LIU Tonghua LIU Jixiang YANG Hairui ZHANG Man | 2023 | Journal of Thermal Science2023,32,5: | 0 |

| 18 | Tuning the electron transport behavior at Li/LATP interface for enhanced cyclability of solid-state Li batteries显示文摘An interlayer is usually employed to tackle the interfacial instability issue between solid electrolytes(SEs)and Li metal caused by the side reaction.However,the failure mechanism of the ionic conductor interlayers,especially the influence from electron penetration,remains largely unknown.Herein,using Li1.3Al0.3Ti1.7(PO4)3(LATP)as the model SE and LiF as the interlayer,we use metal semiconductor contact barrier theory to reveal the failure origin of Li/LiF@LATP interface based on the calculation results of density functional theory(DFT),in which electrons can easily tunnel through the LiF grain boundary with F vacancies due to its narrow barrier width against electron injection,followed by the reduction of LATP.Remarkably,an Al-LiF bilayer between Li/LATP is found to dramatically promote the interfacial stability,due to the highly increased barrier width and homogenized electric field at the interface.Consequently,the Li symmetric cells with Al-LiF bilayer can exhibit excellent cyclability of more than 2,000 h superior to that interlayered by LiF monolayer(~860 h).Moreover,the Li/Al-LiF@LATP/LiFePO4 solid-state batteries deliver a capacity retention of 83.2%after 350 cycles at 0.5 C.Our findings emphasize the importance of tuning the electron transport behavior by optimizing the potential barrier for the interface design in high-performance solid-state batteries. | Linshan Luo Feng Zheng Haowen Gao Chaofei Lan Zhefei Sun Wei Huang Xiang Han Ziqi Zhang Pengfei Su Peng Wang Shengshi Guo Guangyang Lin Jianfang Xu Jianyuan Wang Jun Li Cheng Li Qiaobao Zhang Shunqing Wu Ming-Sheng Wang Songyan Chen | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,1: | 0 |

| 20 | Can Social Support be Protective against Depressive Symptoms in Adolescents from 24 Low- and Middle-Income Countries?显示文摘Background:Adolescents are highly vulnerable to depressive symptoms worldwide partially because of limited social supports.However,it still remains largely unknown regarding the associations between social support(s)and depressive symptoms among adolescents living in low-and middle-income countries(LMICs).The aim of this study aimed to explore the associations between different types of social support and depressive symptoms in adolescents from LMICs.Methods:Data were retrieved from the Global School-based Health Survey(GSHS)in which 92,551 adolescents(50.6%females)were included with mean of 15.6 years.Depressive symptoms in the past one month as the dependent variable were measured in combination with social support(was measured by“During the past 30 days,how often were most of the students in your school kind and helpful?”).Multivariable logistic regression and meta-analysis of country-wise estimates were performed to investigate the associations between social support and depressive symptoms,and the heterogeneity of the associations across the countries,respectively.Results:The prevalence of depressive symptoms was 30.9%of adolescents from LMICs.Peer support and parental connectedness were two major factors that were significantly associated with depression symptoms in adolescents.However,the associations of peer support and parental connectedness with depressive symptoms were significant in males and females,respectively.The country-wise analysis indicated that varied inconsistency(small to large)across the associations of peer support and parental connectedness with depressive symptoms in adolescents.Conclusion:Results in this study provides multi-national evidence of the protective roles of social support against depressive symptoms among adolescents.However,the association between social support and depression symptoms may be moderated by sex and types of social support.Although we found that social sup-port may be an important protective factor against depressive symptoms in adolescents from LMICs,specifically designed interventions should be implemented based on sex difference and country difference. | Haowen Wu Zhanli Yi Tianyou Guo | 2023 | International Journal of Mental Health Promotion2023,25,3: | 0 |
