| 1 | New discoveries from the classic Quaternary mammalian fossil area of Yanjinggou,Chongqing,and their chronological explanations显示文摘Yanjinggou in Wanzhou District of Chongqing is one of the earliest reported and most famous Quaternary mammalian fossil areas in China.The fauna from this area used to be taken as a benchmark for the biochronological comparison of Quaternary paleontology of South China,but the chronology of this fauna has many controversies for the lack of exact locational and stratigraphical records.The present article,on the basis of recent investigations and discoveries,discusses and explains the distribution and biochronology of the mammalian faunas in the Yanjinggou area.The newly discovered Dayakou fissure fauna,including Rhizomys troglodytes,Homotherium sp.,Panthera pardus,Stegodon orientalis,Dicerorhinus sumatrensis,Hesperotherium sinense,Sus sp.,Cervavitus fenqii,Cervus sp.and Muntiacus sp.,is correlated to the middle Early Pleistocene.The presence of Early Pleistocene mammalian fauna in the Yanjinggou area is therefore confirmed.The'Wanhsien fauna'or'Yenchingkou(=Yanjinggou)fauna'as a Mid-Late Pleistocene biostratigraphical datum should be abandoned.The Dayakou fauna and the Upper Cave fauna of Pingba,both in the Yanjinggou area,are correlated to the middle Early Pleistocene and the early Middle Pleistocene in age,respectively. | CHEN ShaoKun PANG LiBo HE CunDing WEI GuangBiao HUANG WanBo YUE ZongYing ZHANG XiaoHu ZHANG Hua QIN Li | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,31: | 4 |
| 2 | Design,Manufacture and Maintenance of Pressure Equipment Based on Accidents Survey显示文摘Most of the important units of pressure equipment have been manufactured successfully in China related to the national key construction projects,such as 10 million tons/year oil refinery,million tons/year ethylene,large coal chemical,etc.However,some of them failed to operate shortly after their putting into service.Some suffered severe damage even during the previous period of manufacture and installation.In this paper,cases of accident survey and failure analysis are given for some typical pressure vessels.It is found that many accidents are related to insufficient consideration of the design and manufacture of the equipment.These accidents occur fundamentally because of the Chinese design standards & codes for pressure equipment without risk or life concepts and the support from a database for potential risk existing in their dynamic service.Most designers and manufacturers are unable to make correct design,materials selection and manufacturing process all due to a lack of engineering experience.In order to avoid the repetition of the accidents and improve the safety,reliability and economy of pressure equipment,a platform is suggested for design,manufacture and maintenance of pressure equipment in China based on accidents survey.In other words,some effective precautionary measures are taken at the design and manufacture stage,and the design methodology has to be based on service life requirement and desirable risk level.At the service stage some reasonable inspection/monitoring approaches should be utilized to control risks and ensure the equipment operating safely until its desired lifespan.Finally,the basic scheme and some key technologies are briefly given for the platform construction.The concept of risk and life based design,manufacture and maintenance proposed herein has important significance for improving and perfecting the codes and standards for design,manufacture and maintenance of Chinese pressure-bearing equipment,enhancing the life and reliability of Chinese pressure-bearing equipment and promoting the development of in-service maintenance technology that combines safety and economy. | CHEN Xuedong AI Zhibin FAN Zhichao WANG Bing DOU Wanbo YANG Tiecheng GUAN Weihe | 2011 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2011,24,2: | 3 |

| 5 | Diverse O-methyltransferases catalyze the biosynthesis of floral benzenoids that repel aphids from the flowers of waterlily Nymphaea prolifera显示文摘Nymphaea is a key genus of the ANA grade(Amborellales,Nymphaeales,and Austrobaileyales)of basal flowering plants,which serve as a key model to study the early evolution of floral traits.In this study,we comprehensively investigated the emission,biosynthesis,and biological function of the floral scent in a night-blossoming waterlily Nymphaea prolifera.The headspace volatile collection combined with GC-MS analysis showed that the floral scent of N.prolifera is predominately comprised by methylated benzenoids including anisole,veratrole,guaiacol,and methoxyanisole.Moreover,the emission of these floral benzenoids in N.prolifera exhibited temporal and spatial pattern with circadian rhythm and tissue specificity.By creating and mining transcriptomes of N.prolifera flowers,12 oxygen methyltransferases(NpOMTs)were functionally identified.By in vitro enzymatic assay,NpOMT3,6,and 7 could produce anisole and NpOMT5,7,9,produce guaiacol,whereas NpOMT3,6,9,11 catalyzed the formation of veratrole.Methoxyanisole was identified as the universal product of all NpOMTs.Expression patterns of NpOMTs provided implication for their roles in the production of the respective benzenoids.Phylogenetic analysis of OMTs suggested a Nymphaea-specific expansion of the OMT family,indicating the evolution of lineage-specific functions.In bioassays,anisole,veratrole,and guaiacol in the floral benzenoids were revealed to play the critical role in repelling waterlily aphids.Overall,this study indicates that the basal flowering plant N.prolifera has evolved a diversity and complexity of OMT genes for the biosynthesis of methylated benzenoids that can repel insects from feeding the flowers.These findings provide new insights into the evolutional mechanism and ecological significance of the floral scent from early-diverged flowering plants. | Guanhua Liu Jianyu Fu Lingyun Wang Mingya Fang Wanbo Zhang Mei Yang Xuemin Yang Yingchun Xu Lin Shi Xiaoying Ma Qian Wang Hui Chen Cuiwei Yu Dongbei Yu Feng Chen Yifan Jiang | 2023 | Horticulture Research2023,10,12: | 0 |
| 6 | The current trend and challenges of developing red yeast rice-based food supplements for hypercholesterolemia显示文摘Hypercholesterolemia is a risk factor of cardiovascular diseases,which have been managed using statin drugs.Red yeast rice(RYR)as a traditional food in the Eastern Asia countries has anti-hyperlipidemia activity.Recently,a variety of food supplement products containing RYR have been developed to lower blood cholesterol,which is attributed to the presence of monacolins,especially monacolin K(lovastatin,a statin drug).This review was aimed to summarize the clinical trials using RYR products to investigate their effects on lipid profiles in humans.Relevant articles of human clinical trials were retrieved from PubMed and discussed here.Results showed that RYR and its extracts have been included in commercially available products alone and in combinations with various other materials,which include bioactive compounds such as coenzyme Q10 and berberine,vitamins,extracts from other plants such as phytosterols,polyunsaturated fatty acids or even probiotics.The durations of the trials ranged from 4 weeks to 60 months.The content of monacolin K ranged from 0.32 mg/pack to 10 mg/pack.The data of these human clinical trials demonstrated that these RYR supplement products were sufficient to reduce blood cholesterol in different populations.However,the inclusions of certain materials might not have additive effect.Additionally,studies including a lovastatin only positive control group with the equivalent dose as that of monacolin K in the RYR products remain to be done.Furthermore,variations of monacolin K contents and presence of toxic citrinin are still concerns.Last,bioactivities of other components in RYR should be investigated as well.More future studies will certainly help to fully explore the potentials of this traditional food in the combat against cardiovascular and other metabolic diseases. | Gong Chen Wanbo Chen Jinhong Xu Guodong Ma Xinge Hu Guoxun Chen | 2023 | Journal of Future Foods2023,3,4: | 0 |
| 7 | Fetuin-A is an immunomodulator and a potential therapeutic option in BMP4-dependent heterotopic ossification and associated bone mass loss显示文摘Heterotopic ossification(HO)is the abnormal formation of bone in extraskeletal sites.However,the mechanisms linking HO pathogenesis with bone mass dysfunction remain unclear.Here,we showed that mice harboring injury-induced and BMP4-dependent HO exhibit bone mass loss similar to that presented by patients with HO.Moreover,we found that injury-induced hyperinflammatory responses at the injury site triggered HO initiation but did not result in bone mass loss at 1 day post-injury(dpi).In contrast,a suppressive immune response promoted HO propagation and bone mass loss by 7 dpi.Correcting immune dysregulation by PD1/PDL1 blockade dramatically alleviated HO propagation and bone mass loss.We further demonstrated that fetuin-A(FetA),which has been frequently detected in HO lesions but rarely observed in HO-adjacent normal bone,acts as an immunomodulator to promote PD1 expression and M2 macrophage polarization,leading to immunosuppression.Intervention with recombinant FetA inhibited hyperinflammation and prevented HO and associated bone mass loss.Collectively,our findings provide new insights into the osteoimmunological interactions that occur during HO formation and suggest that FetA is an immunosuppressor and a potential therapeutic option for the treatment of HO. | Chen Kan Jiazhao Yang Haitao Fan Yuanjuan Dai Xingxing Wang Rui Chen Jia Liu Xiangyue Meng Wei Wang Guiling Li Jiao Zhou Ya Zhang Wanbo Zhu Shiyuan Fang Haiming Wei Hong Zheng Siying Wang Fang Ni | 2022 | Bone Research2022,10,4: | 0 |
