| 2 | Efficient Computational Method for the Non-Probabilistic Reliability of Linear Structural Systems显示文摘The non-probabilistic reliability in higher dimensional situations cannot be calculated efficiently using traditional methods, which either require a large amount of calculation or cause significant error. In this study, an efficient computational method is proposed for the calculation of non-probabilistic reliability based on the volume ratio theory, specifically for linear structural systems. The common expression for non-probabilistic reliability is obtained through formula derivation with the amount of computation considerably reduced. The compatibility between non-probabilistic and probabilistic safety measures is demonstrated through the Monte Carlo simulation. | 4 | Application of Grey Associative Analysis to the Assessment of Regional Water Security显示文摘The assessment of water security is an important content in the security management of water resources due to the fact that the state of water security directly affects both the sustainable development of regional economy and the improvement on the living quality of mankind. Grey associative analysis is introduced and applied to assessment of water security on the basis of grey characteristics of the assessment index system of water security. As a case study shows, grey associative analysis is used for evaluating water security of some provinces in China, and the satisfactory assessment results are obtained. The sequence of provinces in China with regard to water security from good to poor is obtained and, moreover, the water security level of each region is also confirmed. The results obtained accord with the actual state of each region. They are of practical significance and can be used to guide the management of regional water security and a sustainable development of the economy therein. | 5 | Arsenic retention and transport behavior in the presence of typical anionic and nonionic surfactants显示文摘The massive production and wide use of surfactants have resulted in a large amount of surfactant residuals being discharged into the environment,which could have an impact on arsenic behavior.In the present study,the influence of the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS) and nonionic surfactant polyethylene glycol octylphenyl ether(Triton X-100) on arsenic behavior was investigated in batch and column tests.The presence of SDBS and Triton X-100 reduced arsenic retention onto ferrihydrite(FH),enhanced arsenic transport through FH coated sand(FH-sand) columns and promoted arsenic release from the FH surface.With coexisting surfactants in solution,the equilibrium adsorbed amount of arsenic on FH decreased by up to 29.7% and the adsorption rate decreased by up to 52.3%.Pre-coating with surfactants caused a decrease in the adsorbed amount and adsorption rate of arsenic by up to 15.1% and 58.3%,respectively.Because of the adsorption attenuation caused by surfactants,breakthrough of As(Ⅴ) and As(Ⅲ) with SDBS in columns packed with FH-sand was 23.8% and 14.3%faster than that in those without SDBS,respectively.In columns packed with SDBS-coated FH-sand,transport of arsenic was enhanced to a greater extent.Breakthrough of As(Ⅴ) and As(Ⅲ) was 52.4% and 43.8% faster and the cumulative retention amount was 44.5% and 57.3% less than that in pure FH-sand column systems,respectively.Mobilization of arsenic by surfactants increased with the increase of the initial adsorbed amount of arsenic.The cumulative release amount of As(Ⅴ) and As(Ⅲ) from the packed column reached 10.8% and 36.0%,respectively. | Chuan Liang Xianliang Wang Xianjia Peng | 2016 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,1: | 2 |

| 8 | Aqueous stability and mobility of C_(60) complexed by sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate surfactant显示文摘Surfactant complexation may have significant effects on the environmental behavior of nano-particles.In order to understand the ecological exposure of nano-materials,it is important to determine the stability and mobility of surfactant-complexed nano-materials in aqueous systems.In this study,the aggregation and transport of C_(60) complexed by the surfactant sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS)were investigated.It was found that SDBS-complexed C-_(60) had aζ-potential of-49.5 m V under near-neutral p H conditions and remained stable during an aging period of 15 days.It had a critical coagulation concentration of 550 mmol/L for Na Cl,which was higher than common natural colloids and many kinds of raw nano-materials,and was comparable to those of many kinds of surface-modified nano-materials.SDBS enhanced the stability of C_(60) colloid;however,at the same time,it also enhanced the colloidal particle aggregation rate.Much higher mobility was found for SDBS-complexed C_(60) than C_(60) colloid.Increase in ionic strength,Ca^(2+) concentration or Al^(3+) concentration decreased the mobility.In general,SDBS-complexed C_(60) had high stability and mobility. | Xianjia Peng Yue Yuan Hongyu Wang Chuan Liang | 2016 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,4: | 1 |

| 14 | Just-in-Time Human Gesture Recognition Using WiFi Signals显示文摘In-air gesture recognition using wireless signals acts as a key enabler for various applications including smart homes, remote healthcare, shared autopilot, etc. Although researchers have conducted extensive research on Wi Fi-based gesture recognition, it remains an open question of providing accurate, robust, and in-time recognition system with the commodity WiFi infrastructure. We present Fa See, a just-in-time Wi Fibased gesture recognition system by identifying the fine-grained Channel state information(CSI) features upon off-the-shelf WiFi devices. The core of Fa See is essentially a novel hybrid recognition algorithm, which combines the classical K-Means algorithm with Dynamic time warping(DTW) together, to transform the feature matching in traditional gesture recognition schemes into a hierarchical manner, thereby significantly improving the recognition efficiency. Controlling the limit water level of reservoir by stage is one of important contents in the management of multi-purpose reservoir’s floodwater utilization for the sake of more benefits, and reasonable division of stage in flood season is precondition of controlling the limit water level by stage. On the background of Three Gorges Reservoir floodwater utilization management and on the foundation of self-similarity of hydrological series, determining the number of flood season staged in base of conventional statistical method, choosing the Db4 wavelet and Mallat algorithm, the computation mode of wavelet fractal dimension estimation method is proposed and each stage’s fractal dimension is computed, then the final flood season staged is obtained. The results demonstrate the stages of Three Gorges Reservoir determined by using wavelet fractal dimension method are consistent with that from conventional method, but the fractal dimension results by former method are easier, more stable and objective which ensures the feasibility of the wavelet fractal dimension method applying in flood season staged.
