1Waxy allelic diversity in common millet(Panicum miliaceum L.) in China显示文摘A set of 132 accessions of common millet,Panicum miliaceum L.,from 12 provinces of China were assessed for endosperm starch type(waxy or non-waxy)using I_2-KI staining,amylose and amylopectin contents using the dual-wavelength colorimetric method,and genotype of Waxy genes conditioning amylose content by gene sequencing.Endosperm starch content varied from57.69%to 74.70%,while the amylose and amylopectin contents of the starch ranged from 0 to23.29%and from 41.99%to 70.24%,respectively.Sequencing two Wx genes,including Wx-L(intron 5-exon 7 and intron 8–9)and Wx-S(exon 9–intron 10)revealed several polymorphisms(S_0,S_(-15),L_C,L_F,L_Y).Marker M5-R11 linking to the Wx-S gene may be used to discriminate waxy common millet accessions from non-waxy ones.Among the 132 accessions,68 with the S_(-15)allele had waxy endosperm starch with the amylose content range 0–2.58%and 64 accessions with the S_0allele had non-waxy endosperm starch with amylose content range 3.94%–23.29%.Five genotypes including S_(-15)/L_F(45%of the accessions),S_0/L_F(25%),S_0/L_Y(12%),S_0/L_C(11%),and S_(-15)/L_Y(7%)were identified.Six new SNPs were detected at the Wx-L locus.These results will facilitate common millet breeding,especially of cultivars free of amylose.Ruiyun Wang Haigang Wang Xiaohuan Liu Xu Ji Ling Chen Ping Lu Minxuan Liu Bin Teng Zhijun Qiao 2018The Crop Journal2018,6,4:10
2Forest canopy height mapping over China using GLAS and MODIS data显示文摘The Geoscience Laser Altimeter System(GLAS)accurately detects the vertical structural information of a target within its laser spot and is a promising system for the inversion of structural features and other biophysical parameters of forest ecosystems.Since the GLAS footprints are discontinuously distributed with a relativity low density,continuous vegetation height distributions cannot be mapped with a high accuracy using GLAS data alone.The MODIS BRDF product provides more forest structural information than other optical remote sensing data.This study aimed to map forest canopy heights over China from the GLAS and MODIS BRDF data.Firstly,the waveform characteristic parameters were extracted from the GLAS data by the method of wavelet analysis,and the terrain index was calculated using the ASTER GDEM data.Secondly,the model reducing the topographic influence was constructed from the waveform characteristic parameters and terrain index.Thirdly,the final canopy height estimation model was constructed from the neural network combining the canopy height estimated with the GLAS point and the MODIS BRDF data,and applied to get the continuous canopy height map over China.Finally,the map was validated by the measured data and the airborne Li DAR data,and the validation results indicated that forest canopy heights can be estimated with high accuracy from combined GLAS and MODIS data.YANG Ting WANG Cheng LI GuiCai LUO SheZhou XI XiaoHuan GAO Shuai ZENG HongCheng 2015Science China Earth Sciences2015,58,1:8
3Quantitative Analysis on Measure Results by Resistograh for Wood Decay of Ancient Architecture显示文摘The air-dried density, bending strength (MOR) and compressive strength parallel to grain of different grades of rotten wood were measured with test specimens of 100-130 year-old larch (Larix sp.) collected in Wu Ying Dian, the Forbidden City. In addition, the MOR of specimens was measured by Resistograph and the correlations were analyzed between resistance value and mechanical properties of wood. The correlations are significant for quantitative evaluation of wood structural condition by Resistograph. The results showed that wood air-dried density, strength properties and resistance values decreased significantly with the increase of decay degree, and there were remarkable differences among various grades of wood. Based on the rotten degree, the attenuation rate is in the following order: MOR> compressive strength parallel to grain > air-dried wood density > resistance value, and the above 4 indexes were 32%, 53%, 73% and 74% of those of intact wood, respectively, when the degree of rotten wood reached grade 3. Significant positive correlation at 0.01 level was showed between the wave trough values and wood air-dried density, MOR, compressive strength parallel to grain. The correlations between the wave peak values and the average value and air-dried wood density, MOR reached 0.01 level, and the correlations between the wave peak values and the average value and compressive strength parallel to grain reached 0.05 level. 4A high strength pH responsive supramolecular copolymer hydrogel显示文摘Constructing high strength pH sensitive supramolecular polymer hydrogel remains very challenging due to the unavoidable network swelling caused by ionization of acid or basic groups at a specified pH.In this work,we proposed a simple and very convenient approach to fabricate high strength pH responsive supramolecular polymer(SP) hydrogels by one-pot copolymerization of N-acryloyl glycinamide(NAGA) and 2-vinyl-4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazine(VDT),two feature hydrogen bonding monomers.In these PNAGA-PVDT SP hydrogels obtained,the hydrogen bonding of NAGA was shown to play a dominant role in reinforcing strength,while the hydrogen bonding of diaminotriazine served as a pH sensitive moiety.At pH 3,the mechanical properties of PNAGA-PVDT hydrogels decreased to a different extent due to the breakup of hydrogen bonding;in contrast,the hydrogel resumed the original strength while pH was raised to 7.4 because of reconstruction of hydrogen bonding.Over the selected pH range,the PNAGA-PVDT hydrogels exhibited up to 1.25 MPa tensile strength,845% breaking strain,69 kPa Young's modulus and 21 MPa compressive strength.This novel high strength pH-responsive SP hydrogels may find applications in biomedical and industrial fields.WANG Qing ZHANG YinYu DAI XiYang SHI XiaoHuan LIU WenGuang 2017Science China(Technological Sciences)2017,60,1:6
5Bio-Based Hyperbranched Toughener From Tannic Acid and Its Enhanced Solvent-Free Epoxy Resin with High Performance显示文摘It is essential to design economic and efficient tougheners to prepare high-performance epoxy resin;however,this has remained a huge challenge.Herein,an eco-friendly,low-cost,and facile-fabricated bio-based hyperbranched toughener,carboxylic acid-functionalized tannic acid(CATA),was successfully prepared and applicated to the preparation of solvent-free epoxy resins.The mechanical performance,morphology,structural characterization,and thermal characterization of toughened epoxy resin system were studied.The toughened epoxy resin system with only 1.0wt%CATA reached the highest impact strength,111%higher than the neat epoxy resin system.Notably,the tensile strength and elongation at break of toughened epoxy resin systems increased moderately with increasing CATA loading.Nonphase-separated hybrids with significant toughening effect were obtained.Additionally,the thermal stabilities of toughened epoxy resin systems decreased with increasing CATA loading.This study provides an eco-friendly,cost-effective,and facile approach for the preparation of high-performance,solvent-free epoxy resins with potential for practical applications in sealing integrated circuits and electrical devices fields.Jie Xu Jiayao Yang Hengxu Wang Peng Lin Xiaohuan Liu Jinjie Zhang Shenyuan Fu Yuxun Tang 2019Journal of Renewable Materials2019,7,12:5

7COVID-19 and Alzheimer’s disease:how one crisis worsens the other显示文摘Alzheimer’s disease(AD)has emerged as a key comorbidity of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2(SARS-CoV-2).The morbidity and mortality of COVID-19 are elevated in AD due to multiple pathological changes in AD patients such as the excessive expression of viral receptor angiotensin converting enzyme 2 and pro-inflammatory molecules,various AD complications including diabetes,lifestyle alterations in AD,and drug-drug interactions.Meanwhile,COVID-19 has also been reported to cause various neurologic symptoms including cognitive impairment that may ultimately result in AD,probably through the invasion of SARS-CoV-2 into the central nervous system,COVID-19-induced inflammation,long-term hospitalization and delirium,and post-COVID-19 syndrome.In addition,the COVID-19 crisis also worsens behavioral symptoms in uninfected AD patients and poses new challenges for AD prevention.In this review,we first introduce the symptoms and pathogenesis of COVID-19 and AD.Next,we provide a comprehensive discussion on the aggravating effects of AD on COVID-19 and the underlying mechanisms from molecular to social levels.We also highlight the influence of COVID-19 on cognitive function,and propose possible routes of viral invasion into the brain and potential mechanisms underlying the COVID-19-induced cognitive impairment.Last,we summarize the negative impacts of COVID-19 pandemic on uninfected AD patients and dementia prevention.Xiaohuan Xia Yi Wang Jialin Zheng 2021Translational Neurodegeneration2021,10,2:3
8Nitrogen-doped hierarchical few-layered porous carbon for efficient electrochemical energy storage显示文摘Large surface area,high conductivity,and rich active site of carbon electrode materials are necessary characteristics for energy storage devices.However,high conductivity and high nitrogen doping of carbon electrode materials are difficult to coordinate.Here,a facile method via the carbonization of nitrogen-containing Schiff base polymer has been developed to prepare high conductivity and high nitrogen-doped hierarchical porous carbon.The organic components with a benzene ring structure in the polymer promote the formation of more sp^(2)-graphitized carbon,which is beneficial for the improvement of electrical conductivity.Nitrogen-doped hierarchical porous carbon calcined at 900℃ under the NH3 atmosphere possesses high nitrogen content of 7.48 at%,a large specific surface area of 1613.2m2/g,and high electrical conductivity of 2.7 S/cm.As electrode materials in an aqueous-based supercapacitor,nitrogen-doped hierarchical porous carbon exhibits superior specific capacitance of 385 F/g at 1 A/g as well as excellent rate performance(242 and 215 F/g at a current density of 100 and 200 A/g,respectively).In addition,the specific capacitance of electrode measured in a two-electrode system is 335 F/g at 1 A/g,and the long-term cycling stability can be achieved with more than 94%initial capacitance after 10000 cycles.The constructed symmetric supercapacitor delivers high energy density and high power density.The outstanding electrochemical performances combined with the novel and scalable synthetic approach make the nitrogen‐doped hierarchical porous carbon potential electrode material for electrochemical devices.Peng Wang Xiaohuan Qi Wei Zhao Meng Qian Hui Bi Fuqiang Huang 2021Carbon Energy2021,3,2:3
9Coordination of e-commerce supply chain when e-commerce platform providing sales service and extended warranty service显示文摘With the rapid development of cybereconomy and the enhancement of sales service,many e-commerce platforms provide extended warranty service to alleviate consumers from worries about product quality when consumers purchasing products online.This study examines the decisions and coordination of the e-commerce supply chain where the e-commerce platform dominates and provides sales service and extended warranty service.The findings show that the centralised decision-making model is an ideal model because of the low sales price,high service level and high extended warranty price.With the increase of the consumers’sensitivity coefficient to the extended warranty service price,sales price increases but extended warranty service price and service level decrease,the retailer’s profit and the platform’s profit decrease.The proposed contract of‘revenue sharing joint commission’can realise the coordination of ecommerce supply chain.Yuyan Wang Zhaoqing Yu Xiaohuan Ji 2020Journal of Control and Decision2020,7,3:2
10Crustal structure in the Binchuan basin of Yunnan constrained from receiver functions on a 2-D seismic dense array显示文摘The Binchuan region is located in a seismically active area in northwestern Yunnan,China.The detailed crustal structure is important to understand the tectonic evolution and to assess the seismic hazard in the study area.With a 2-D dense array deployed in this region,we use teleseismic receiver function traditional imaging methods,including the H-κand common-conversion-point stacking methods,to derive high-resolution crustal thickness and vP/vS ratio maps.Our results indicate that the crustal thickness increases from~40 km to~46 km in the south-north direction,and the average crustal thickness beneath the Binchuan basin is~42 km.Our results agree with previous results but have higher resolution due to dense interstation spacing.Xiaohuan Jiang Hongfeng Yang Wei Yang Weitao Wang 2020Earthquake Science2020,33,5:2

14Influence of voxel size on forest canopy height estimates using full-waveform airborne LiDAR data显示文摘Background: Forest canopy height is a key forest structure parameter. Precisely estimating forest canopy height is vital to improve forest management and ecological modelling. Compared with discrete-return LiDAR(Light Detection and Ranging), small-footprint full-waveform airborne LiDAR(FWL) techniques have the capability to acquire precise forest structural information. This research mainly focused on the influence of voxel size on forest canopy height estimates.Methods: A range of voxel sizes(from 10.0 m to 40.0 m interval of 2 m) were tested to obtain estimation accuracies of forest canopy height with different voxel sizes. In this study, all the waveforms within a voxel size were aggregated into a voxel-based LiDAR waveform, and a range of waveform metrics were calculated using the voxelbased LiDAR waveforms. Then, we established estimation model of forest canopy height using the voxel-based waveform metrics through Random Forest(RF) regression method.Results and conclusions: The results showed the voxel-based method could reliably estimate forest canopy height using FWL data. In addition, the voxel sizes had an important influence on the estimation accuracies(R2 ranged from 0.625 to 0.832) of forest canopy height. However, the R2 values did not monotonically increase or decrease with the increase of voxel size in this study. The best estimation accuracy produced when the voxel size was 18 m(R2= 0.832, RMSE = 2.57 m, RMSE% = 20.6%). Compared with the lowest estimation accuracy, the R2 value had a significant improvement(33.1%) when using the optimal voxel size. Finally, through the optimal voxel size, we produced the forest canopy height distribution map for this study area using RF regression model. 15Direct conversion of mouse astrocytes into neural progenitor cells and specific lineages of neurons显示文摘Background:Cell replacement therapy has been envisioned as a promising treatment for neurodegenerative diseases.Due to the ethical concerns of ESCs-derived neural progenitor cells(NPCs)and tumorigenic potential of iPSCs,reprogramming of somatic cells directly into multipotent NPCs has emerged as a preferred approach for cell transplantation.Methods:Mouse astrocytes were reprogrammed into NPCs by the overexpression of transcription factors(TFs)Foxg1,Sox2,and Brn2.The generation of subtypes of neurons was directed by the force expression of cell-type specific TFs Lhx8 or Foxa2/Lmx1a.Results:Astrocyte-derived induced NPCs(AiNPCs)share high similarities,including the expression of NPC-specific genes,DNA methylation patterns,the ability to proliferate and differentiate,with the wild type NPCs.The AiNPCs are committed to the forebrain identity and predominantly differentiated into glutamatergic and GABAergic neuronal subtypes.Interestingly,additional overexpression of TFs Lhx8 and Foxa2/Lmx1a in AiNPCs promoted cholinergic and dopaminergic neuronal differentiation,respectively.Conclusions:Our studies suggest that astrocytes can be converted into AiNPCs and lineage-committed AiNPCs can acquire differentiation potential of other lineages through forced expression of specific TFs.Understanding the impact of the TF sets on the reprogramming and differentiation into specific lineages of neurons will provide valuable strategies for astrocyte-based cell therapy in neurodegenerative diseases.Kangmu Ma Xiaobei Deng Xiaohuan Xia Zhaohuan Fan Xinrui Qi Yongxiang Wang Yuju Li Yizhao Ma Qiang Chen Hui Peng Jianqing Ding Chunhong Li Yunlong Huang Changhai Tian Jialin C.Zheng 2018Translational Neurodegeneration2018,7,1:2
