| 3 | Sulfur isotopic composition of the Tianqiao Pb-Zn ore deposit,Northwest Guizhou Province,China:Implications for the source of sulfur in the ore-forming fluids显示文摘The Tianqiao Pb-Zn ore deposit of Guizhou Province, China, is located in the mid-east of the Sichuan-Yunnan-Guizhou Pb-Zn-Ag multi-metallic mineralization area, which is representative of the Pb-Zn ore de-posits in this area. It consists of three main orebodies, whose Pb+Zn reserves are more than 0.2 million ton. This paper analyzes the sulfur isotopic composition of these orebodies. The data show that the ore minerals (galena, sphalerite, pyrite) in these orebodies are enriched in heavy sulfur, with δ34SV-CDT values varying between 8.35‰ and 14.44‰, i.e. the δ34SV-CDT values of pyrite are between 12.81‰ and 14.44‰, the mean value is 13.40‰; the δ34SV-CDT values of sphalerite are range from 10.87‰ to 14.00‰, the mean value is 12.53‰; the δ34SV-CDT values of galena are range from 8.35‰ to 9.83‰, the mean value is 8.84‰, and they have the feature of δ34Spyrite>δ34Ssphalerite>δ34Sgalena, which indicates the sulfur isotope in ore-forming fluids has attained equilibrium. | 4 | Conservation metagenomics: a new branch of conservation biology显示文摘Multifaceted approaches are required to monitor wildlife populations and improve conservation efforts. In the last decade,increasing evidence suggests that metagenomic analysis offers valuable perspectives and tools for identifying microbial communities and functions. It has become clear that gut microbiome plays a critical role in health, nutrition, and physiology of wildlife, including numerous endangered animals in the wild and in captivity. In this review, we first introduce the human microbiome and metagenomics, highlighting the importance of microbiome for host fitness. Then, for the first time, we propose the concept of conservation metagenomics, an emerging subdiscipline of conservation biology, which aims to understand the roles of the microbiota in evolution and conservation of endangered animals. We define what conservation metagenomics is along with current approaches, main scientific issues and significant implications in the study of host evolution, physiology,nutrition, ecology and conservation. We also discuss future research directions of conservation metagenomics. | 6 | Constructing a high-density linkage map for Gossypium hirsutum × Gossypium barbadense and identifying QTLs for lint percentage显示文摘To introgress the good fiber quality and yield from Gossypium barbadense into a commercial Upland cotton variety, a high-density simple sequence repeat(SSR) genetic linkage map was developed from a BC1F1 population of Gossypium hirsutum×Gossypium barbadense. The map comprised 2,292 loci and covered 5115.16 centi Morgan(c M) of the cotton AD genome, with an average marker interval of 2.23 c M. Of the marker order for 1,577 common loci on this new map, 90.36% agrees well with the marker order on the D genome sequence genetic map. Compared with five published high-density SSR genetic maps, 53.14% of marker loci were newly discovered in this map. Twenty-six quantitative trait loci(QTLs) for lint percentage(LP) were identified on nine chromosomes. Nine stable or common QTLs could be used for marker-assisted selection. Fifty percent of the QTLs were from G. barbadense and increased LP by 1.07%–2.41%. | 7 | Diet drives convergent evolution of gut microbiomes in bamboo-eating species显示文摘Gut microbiota plays a critical role in host physiology and health.The coevolution between the host and its gut microbes facilitates animal adaptation to its specific ecological niche.Multiple factors such as host diet and phylogeny modulate the structure and function of gut microbiota.However,the relative contribution of each factor in shaping the structure of gut microbiota remains unclear.The giant(Ailuropoda melanoleuca)and red(Ailurus styani)pandas belong to different families of order Carnivora.They have evolved as obligate bamboo-feeders and can be used as a model system for studying the gut microbiome convergent evolution.Here,we compare the structure and function of gut microbiota of the two pandas with their carnivorous relatives using 16S rRNA and metagenome sequencing.We found that both panda species share more similarities in their gut microbiota structure with each other than each species shares with its carnivorous relatives.This indicates that the specialized herbivorous diet rather than host phylogeny is the dominant driver of gut microbiome convergence within Arctoidea.Metagenomic analysis revealed that the symbiotic gut microbiota of both pandas possesses a high level of starch and sucrose metabolism and vitamin B12 biosynthesis.These findings suggest a diet-driven convergence of gut microbiomes and provide new insight into host-microbiota coevolution of these endangered species. | Guangping Huang Xiao Wang Yibo Hu Qi Wu Yonggang Nie Jiuhong Dong Yun Ding Li Yan Fuwen Wei | 2021 | Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,1: | 6 |
| 8 | Effects of biochar on water movement characteristics in sandy soil under drip irrigation显示文摘Biochar addition can improve the physical and hydraulic characteristics of sandy soil.This study investigated the effects of biochar on water holding capacity and water movement in sandy soil under drip irrigation.By indoor simulation experiments,the effects of biochar application at five levels(0%,1%,2%,4%and 6%)on the soil water retention curve,infiltration characteristics of drip irrigation and water distribution were tested and analyzed.The results showed that biochar addition rate was positively correlated with water holding capacity of sandy soil and soil available water.Within the same infiltration time,with an increasing amount of added biochar,the diffusion distance of the horizontal wetting front(HWF)tended to decrease,while the infiltration distance of vertical wetting front(VWF)initially declined and then rose.The features of wetted bodies changed from'broad-shallow'to'narrow-deep'type.The relationship between the transport distances of HWF and VWF and the infiltration time was described by a power function.At the same distance from the point source,the larger the amount of added biochar,the higher the soil water content.Biochar had a great influence on the water content of the layer with biochar(0–200 mm)and had some effects at 200–250 mm without biochar;but it had less influence on the soil water content deeper than 250 mm.For the application rate of biochar of 4%,most water was retained within 0–250 mm soil layer.However,when biochar application amount was high(6%),it would be helpful for water infiltration.During the improvement of sandy soil,biochar application rate of 4%in the plow layer had the best effect. | PU Shenghai LI Guangyong TANG Guangmu ZHANG Yunshu XU Wanli LIPan FENG Guangping DING Feng | 2019 | Journal of Arid Land2019,11,5: | 6 |
| 9 | Gini Coefficient-based Task Allocation for Multi-robot Systems With Limited Energy Resources显示文摘Nowadays, robots generally have a variety of capabilities, which often form a coalition replacing human to work in dangerous environment, such as rescue, exploration, etc. In these operating conditions, the energy supply of robots usually cannot be guaranteed. If the energy resources of some robots are consumed too fast, the number of the future tasks of the coalition will be affected. This paper will develop a novel task allocation method based on Gini coefficient to make full use of limited energy resources of multi-robot system to maximize the number of tasks. | 12 | Fatigue crack propagation behavior of Ni-based superalloys after overloading at elevated temperatures显示文摘The fatigue crack propagation behavior of three superalloys subjected to a single overloading at elevated temperatures was investigated. The fatigue crack propagation rate FCPR versus stress intensity factor range data da/dN—ΔK were calculated using the two-point secant method. It was found that the crack growth rates of the investigated materials were retarded after overloading with an overload ratio R OL=1.6. The size of the plastic zone in the front of the crack tip and its relation to loading level were discussed. The overload retardation effects are attributed to crack closure. The tube can effectively transform the longitudinal vibration into the radial vibration and thereby generates ultrasound. Furthermore, ultrasound can be focused to form high-intensity ultrasonic field inside tube. The reactor boasts of simple structure and its whole vessel wall can radiate ultrasound so that the electroacoustic transfer efficiency is high. The focused ultrasonic field provides good condition for sonochemical reaction. In order to match with GaSb photovoltaic cell, an 8-layer one-dimensional photonic crystals (PC) filter structure was designed as quarter-wave periodic structure by selecting silicon (Si) and silicon dioxide (SiO2) as candidate materials. The multilayer Si/SiO2 structure was developed for the matching filter to simulta- neously realize the optimal matching with the spectral distribution of the high temperature emitter and the quantum efficiency of GaSb cell. The physical vapor deposition (PVD) method was used to fabricate the optical filter and the normal incidence optical property of the filter was measured within the spectral range from 0.7 to 3.3 μm. We assigned these specimens to the species Setaria italica based on the following characteristics: an obtuse chalazal apex with missing stigmatic remains; an undulant seed surface composed of rectangular cells with undulate anticlinal walls; an elongated and deeply depressed embryo extending to almost the full seed length; and spherical starch grains.
