1Altitude dependency of trends of daily climate extremes in southwestern China, 1961-2008显示文摘A total of 12 indices of temperature extremes and 11 indices of precipitation ex-tremes at 111 stations in southwestern China at altitudes of 285-4700 m were examined for the period 1961-2008. Significant correlations of temperature extremes and elevation in-cluded the trends of diurnal temperature range, frost days, ice days, cold night frequency and cold day frequency. Regional trends of growing season length, warm night frequency, coldest night and warmest night displayed a statistically significant positive correlation with altitude. These characteristics indicated the obvious warming with altitude. For precipitation extreme indices, only the trends of consecutive dry days, consecutive wet days, wet day precipitation and the number of heavy precipitation days had significant correlations with increasing alti-tude owing to the complex influence of atmospheric circulation. It also indicated the increased precipitation mainly at higher altitude areas, whereas the increase of extreme precipitation events mainly at lowers altitude. In addition, the clearly local influences are also crucial on climate extremes. 4Real-time drogue recognition and 3D locating for UAV autonomous aerial refueling based on monocular machine vision显示文摘Drogue recognition and 3D locating is a key problem during the docking phase of the autonomous aerial refueling(AAR). To solve this problem, a novel and effective method based on monocular vision is presented in this paper. Firstly, by employing computer vision with red-ring-shape feature, a drogue detection and recognition algorithm is proposed to guarantee safety and ensure the robustness to the drogue diversity and the changes in environmental conditions, without using a set of infrared light emitting diodes(LEDs) on the parachute part of the drogue. Secondly, considering camera lens distortion, a monocular vision measurement algorithm for drogue 3D locating is designed to ensure the accuracy and real-time performance of the system,with the drogue attitude provided. Finally, experiments are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. 5Arabidopsis C3HC4-RING finger E3 ubiquitin ligase At AIRP4 positively regulates stress-responsive abscisic acid signaling显示文摘Degradation of proteins via the ubiquitin system is an important step in many stress signaling pathways in plants.E3 ligases recognize ligand proteins and dictate the high specificity of protein degradation, and thus, play a pivotal role in ubiquitination. Here, we identified a gene, named Arabidopsis thaliana abscisic acid(ABA)-insensitive RING protein 4(At AIRP4), which is induced by ABA and other stress treatments. At AIRP4 encodes a cellular protein with a C3HC4-RING finger domain in its C-terminal side, which has in vitro E3 ligase activity. Loss of At AIRP4 leads to a decrease in sensitivity of root elongation and stomatal closure to ABA, whereas overexpression of this gene in the T-DNA insertion mutant atairp4 effectively recovered the ABA-associated phenotypes. At AIRP4 overexpression plants were hypersensitive to salt and osmotic stresses during seed germination, and showed drought avoidance compared with the wild-type and atairp4 mutant plants. In addition, the expression levels of ABA- and droughtinduced marker genes in At AIRP4 overexpression plants were markedly higher than those in the wild-type and atairp4 mutant plants. 10Characteristics and stability of slope movement response to underground mining of shallow coal seams away from gullies显示文摘Underground pressure is abnormal during mining of shallow coal seams under gullies. We studied gully slope movements, subject to underground mining, with physical simulation and theoretical analysis. The rules disclose that the slope rock slides horizontally in response to mining in the direction of gullies and rotates reversely with the appearance of a polygon block in mining away from gullies. We focused our attention on the case of mining away from a gully. We built a mechanical model in terms of a polygon block hinged structure and investigated the variation of horizontal thrust and shear force at the hinged point in relation to the rotation angle under different fragmentations. The Sliding-Rotation instability conditions of the polygon block hinged structure are presented based on the analyses of sliding instability and rotation instability. 12Drogue detection for autonomous aerial refueling based on convolutional neural networks显示文摘Drogue detection is a fundamental issue during the close docking phase of autonomous aerial refueling(AAR). To cope with this issue, a novel and effective method based on deep learning with convolutional neural networks(CNNs) is proposed. In order to ensure its robustness and wide application, a deep learning dataset of images was prepared by utilizing real data of ‘‘Probe and Drogue' aerial refueling, which contains diverse drogues in various environmental conditions without artificial features placed on the drogues. By employing deep learning ideas and graphics processing units(GPUs), a model for drogue detection using a Caffe deep learning framework with CNNs was designed to ensure the method's accuracy and real-time performance. 13Impact of agricultural residual plastic film on the growth and yield of drip-irrigated cotton in arid region of Xinjiang, China显示文摘Long-term and widespread use of plastic mulching has led to the accumulation of residual plastic film(RPF)in farmland soils of Xinjiang,China.However,there is no specific quantitative basis for RPF pollution or a clear understanding of the influence of residual film on crop growth.The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of RPF on the growth of cotton,an important cash crop of Xinjiang.Based on the field conditions and previous reports,various amount of residual film was applied in 0-30 cm soil layer.The growth index including emergence rate,dry matter,and yield of cotton was examined at different growth stages under different soil residual film levels.Results demonstrated a significant effect of RPF on soil moisture distribution and movement.Plastic residues had a significant effect on cotton growth at levels above 200 kg/hm2,and the yield decreased as the RPF amount increased.Based on these findings,200 kg/hm2 was suggested as a threshold level to determine the effects of RPF on cotton.This study provided a basis to rate RPF pollution in farmland soils and help understand the impact of pollution on crop productivity.Can Hu Xufeng Wang Shiguo Wang Bing Lu Wensong Guo Chaoji Liu Xiuying Tang 2020International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,1:5

16Metformin activates chaperone-mediated autophagy and improves disease pathologies in an Alzheimer disease mouse model显示文摘Chaperone-mediated autophagy(CMA)is a lysosome-dependent selective degradation pathway implicated in the pathogenesis of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.However,the mechanisms that regulate CMA are not fully understood.Here,using unbiased drug screening approaches,we discover Metformin,a drug that is commonly the first medication prescribed for type 2 diabetes,can induce CMA.We delineate the mechanism of CMA induction by Metformin to be via activation of TAK1-IKKα/β signaling that leads to phosphorylation of Ser85 of the key mediator of CMA,Hsc70,and its activation.Notably,we find that amyloid-beta precursor protein(APP)is a CMA substrate and that it binds to Hsc70 in an IKKα/β-dependent manner.The inhibition of CMA-mediated degradation of APP enhances its cytotoxicity.Importantly,we find that in the APP/PS1 mouse model of Alzheimer's disease(AD),activation of CMA by Hsc70 overexpression or Metformin potently reduces the accumulated brain Aβplaque levels and reverses the molecular and behavioral AD phenotypes.Our study elucidates a novel mechanism of CMA regulation via Metformin-TAK1-IKKα/β-Hsc70 signaling and suggests Metformin as a new activator of CMA for diseases,such as AD,where such therapeutic intervention could be beneficial.Xiaoyan Xu Yaqin Sun Xufeng Cen Bing Shan Qingwei Zhao Tingxue Xie Zhe Wang Tingjun Hou Yu Xue Mengmeng Zhang Di Peng Qiming Sun Cong Yi Ayaz Najafov Hongguang Xia 2021Protein & Cell2021,12,10:5
17Ultra-high-Q resonances in terahertz all-silicon metasurfaces based on bound states in the continuum显示文摘High-Q metasurfaces have important applications in high-sensitivity sensing,low-threshold lasers,and nonlinear optics due to the strong local electromagnetic field enhancements.Although ultra-high-Q resonances of bound states in the continuum(BIC)metasurfaces have been rapidly developed in the optical regime,it is still a challenging task in the terahertz band for long years because of absorption loss of dielectric materials,design,and fabrication of nanostructures,and the need for high-signal-to-noise ratio and high-resolution spectral measurements.Here,a polarization-insensitive quasi-BIC resonance with a high-Q factor of 1049 in a terahertz all-silicon metasurface is experimentally achieved,exceeding the current highest record by 3 times of magnitude.And by using this ultra-high-Q metasurface,a terahertz intensity modulation with very low optical pump power is demonstrated.The proposed all-silicon metasurface can pave the way for the research and development of high-Q terahertz metasurfaces.PENGFEI WANG FENGYAN HE JIANJUN LIU FANGZHOU SHU BIN FANG TINGTING LANG XUFENG JING ZHI HONG 2022Photonics Research2022,10,12:4
18Microbial population dynamics and changes in main nutrients during the acidification process of pig manures显示文摘This study evaluated the impact of pig manure acidification on anaerobic treatment and composition of the fecal microbial community.According to the different chemical oxygen demand (COD) in the anaerobic treatment processes,pig manure was diluted 4 times (×4),16 times (×16),or 64 times (×64) and subjected to acidification.During the acidification process,pH,soluble chemical oxygen demand (SCOD),volatile fatty acids (VFAs),nitrogen (N),phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) were determined along with microbial population dynamics.The pH of the three dilutions first declined,and then slowly increased.The total VFAs of ×4 and ×16 dilutions peaked on day 15 and 20,respectively.The content of acetic acid,propanoic acid,butanoic acid and valeric acid of the × 4 dilution were 23.6,11.4,8.8 and 0.6 g/L respectively,and that of the ×16 dilution was 5.6,2.3,0.9 and 0.2 g/L respectively.Only acetic acid was detected in the ×64 dilution,and its level peaked on day 10.The results showed that the liquid pig manure was more suitable to enter the anaerobic methanogenic bioreactors after two weeks of acidification.During the acidification process,total P concentration increased during the first ten days,then dropped sharply,and rose again to a relatively high final concentration,while total N concentration rose initially and then declined.Based on the analysis of denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) and 16S rRNA gene clone library,we concluded that the acidification process reduced the number of pathogenic bacteria species in pig manure.Dongdong Zhang Xufeng Yuan Peng Guo Yali Suo Xiaofen Wang Weidong Wang Zongjun Cui 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,3:4
19Genome-wide dissection of segregation distortion using multiple inter-subspecific crosses in rice显示文摘Mendelian inheritance can ensure equal segregation of alleles from parents to offspring, which provides fundamental basis for genetics and molecular biology. Segregation distortion(SD) leads to preferential transmission of certain alleles from generation to generation. Such violation of Mendelian genetic principle is often accompanied by reproductive isolation and eventually speciation. Although SD is observed in a wide range of species from plants to animals, genome-wide dissection of such biased transmission of gametes is rare. Using nine inter-subspecific rice crosses, a genome-wide screen for SD loci is performed, which reveals 61 single-locus quantitative trait loci and 194 digenic interactions showing distorted transmission ratio, among which 24 new SD loci are identified. Biased transmission of alleles is observed in all nine crosses, suggesting that SD exists extensively in rice populations. 72.13% distorted regions are repeatedly detected in multiple populations, and the most prevalent SD hotspot that observed in eight populations is mapped to chromosome 3. Xian alleles are transmitted at higher frequencies than geng alleles in inter-subspecific crosses, which change the genetic composition of the rice populations. Epistatic interaction contributes significantly to the deviation of Mendelian segregation at the whole-genome level in rice, which is distinct from that in animals. 20Abscisic acid receptors maintain abscisic acid homeostasis by modulating UGT71C5 glycosylation activity显示文摘Uridine diphosphate-glucosyltransferases(UGTs)maintain abscisic acid(ABA)homeostasis in Arabidopsis thaliana by converting ABA to abscisic acid-glucose ester(ABA-GE).UGT71C5 plays an important role in the generation of ABA-GE.Abscisic acid receptors are crucial upstream components of the ABA signaling pathway,but how UGTs and ABA receptors function together to modulate ABA levels is unknown.Here,we demonstrated that the ABA receptors RCAR12/13 and UGT71 C5 maintain ABA homeostasis in Arabidopsis following rehydration under drought stress.Biochemical analyses show that UGT71C5 directly interacted with RCAR8/12/13 in yeast cells,and the interactions between UGT-71C5 and RCAR12/13 were enhanced by ABA treatment.Enzyme activity analysis showed that ABA-GE contents were significantly elevated in the presence of RCAR12 or RCAR13,suggesting that these ABA receptors enhance the activity of UGT71C5.Determination of the content of ABA and ABA-GE in Arabidopsis following rehydration under drought stress revealed that ABA-GE contents were significantly higher in Arabidopsis plants overexpressing RCAR12 and RCAR13 than in nontransformed plants and plants overexpressing RCAR11 following rehydration under drought stress.These observations suggest that RCAR12 and RCAR13 enhance the activity of UGT71C5 to glycosylate excess ABA into ABA-GE following rehydration under drought stress,representing a rapid mechanism for regulating plant growth and development.Yanlin Ma Jing Cao Qiaoqiao Chen Jiahan He Zhibin Liu Jianmei Wang Xufeng Li Yi Yang 2021Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2021,63,3:3
