| 1 | Altitude dependency of trends of daily climate extremes in southwestern China, 1961-2008显示文摘A total of 12 indices of temperature extremes and 11 indices of precipitation ex-tremes at 111 stations in southwestern China at altitudes of 285-4700 m were examined for the period 1961-2008. Significant correlations of temperature extremes and elevation in-cluded the trends of diurnal temperature range, frost days, ice days, cold night frequency and cold day frequency. Regional trends of growing season length, warm night frequency, coldest night and warmest night displayed a statistically significant positive correlation with altitude. These characteristics indicated the obvious warming with altitude. For precipitation extreme indices, only the trends of consecutive dry days, consecutive wet days, wet day precipitation and the number of heavy precipitation days had significant correlations with increasing alti-tude owing to the complex influence of atmospheric circulation. It also indicated the increased precipitation mainly at higher altitude areas, whereas the increase of extreme precipitation events mainly at lowers altitude. In addition, the clearly local influences are also crucial on climate extremes. | 4 | Meta-analysis of cognitive function in Chinese first-episode schizophrenia: MATRICS Consensus Cognitive Battery (MCCB) profile of impairment显示文摘Background Compromised neurocognition is a core feature of schizophrenia. With increasing studies researching cognitive function of Chinese patients with first-episode schizophrenia (FES) using MATRICS Consensus Cognitive Battery (MCCB), it is not clear about the level and pattern of cognitive impairment among this population. Aim To provide a meta-analysis systematically analysing studies of neurocognitive function using MCCB in Chinese patients with FES. Methods An independent literature search of both Chinese and English databases up to 13 March 2019 was conducted by two reviewers. Standardised mean difference (SMD) was calculated using the random effects model to evaluate the effect size. Results 56 studies (FES=3167, healthy controls (HC)=3017) were included and analysed. No study was rated as 'high quality' according to Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology. Compared with HCs, Chinese patients with FES showed impairment with large effect size in overall cognition (SMD=-1.60,95% Cl -1.82 to -1.38,厂=67%) and all seven cognitive domains, with the SMD ranging from -0.87 to -1.41. In nine MCCB subtests, patients with FES showed significant difference in Symbol Coding (SMD=-1.90), Trail Making Test (TMT)(SMD=-1.36), Continuous Performance Test-Identical Pairs (SMD=-1.33), Hopkins Verbal Learning Test (SMD=-1.24), Brief Visuospatial Memory Test (SMD=-1.18), Mazes (SMD=-1.16), Category Fluency (SMD=-1.01), Spatial Span (SMD=-0.69) and Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (SMD=-0.38). Conclusions Our meta-analysis demonstrates that Chinese patients with FES show neurocognitive deficits across all seven MCCB cognitive domains and all nine subtests, particularly in two neurocognitive domains: speed of processing and attention/vigilance, with the least impairment shown in social cognition. | 5 | Morphology and modulus evolution of graphite anode in lithium ion battery:An in situ AFM investigation显示文摘We investigated the interfacial electrochemical processes on graphite anode of lithium ion battery by using highly oriented pyrolytic graphite(HOPG)as a model system.In situ electrochemical atomic force microscopy experiments were performed in 1M lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide/ethylene carbonate/diethyl carbonate to reveal the formation process of solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)on HOPG basal plane during potential variation.At 1.45 V,the initial deposition of SEI began at the defects of HOPG surface.After that,direct solvent decomposition took place at about 1.3 V,and the whole surface was covered with SEI.The thickness of SEI was 10.4±0.2 nm after one cycle,and increased to 13.8±0.2 nm in the second cycle,which is due to the insufficient electron blocking ability of the surface film.The Young’s modulus of SEI was measured by a peak force quantitative nanomechanical mapping(QNM).The Young’s modulus of SEI is inhomogeneous.The statistic value is 45±22 MPa,which is in agreement with the organic property of SEI on basal plane of HOPG. | DENG Xin LIU XingRui YAN HuiJuan WANG Dong WAN LiJun | 2014 | Science China Chemistry2014,57,1: | 7 |
| 6 | Flower-like NiCo_(2)S_(4)nanosheets with high electrochemical performance for sodium-ion batteries显示文摘A three-dimensional flower-like NiCo_(2)S_(4) formed by two-dimensional nanosheets is synthesized by a facile hydrothermal method and utilized as the anode for sodium-ion batteries.Studies have shown that materials can achieve the best performance under the ether-based electrolyte system with voltage ranging from 0.3 to 3 V,which could effectively avoid the dissolution of polysulfides and over-discharge of the material.Here,sodium storage mechanism and charge compensation behaviors of this ternary metal sulfide are comprehensively investigated by ex situ X-ray diffraction.Moreover,ex situ Raman spectra,ex situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy measurements are used to related tests for the first time.Additionally,quantitative kinetic analysis unravels that sodium storage partially depends on the pseudocapacitance mechanism,resulting in good specific capacity and excellent rate performance.The initial discharge capacity is as high as 748 mAh·g^(−1)at a current density of 0.1 A·g^(−1)with the initial coulomb efficiency of 94%,and the capacity can still maintain at 580 mAh·g^(−1)with the Coulomb efficiency close to 100%after following 50 cycles.Moreover,by the long cycle test at a high current density of 2 A·g^(−1),the capacity can still reach at 376 mAh·g^(−1)after over 500 cycles. | Yongqiang Miao Xiaosen Zhao Xin Wang Chenhui Ma Lu Cheng Gang Chen Huijuan Yue Lei Wang Dong Zhang | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,11: | 5 |

| 8 | Differences between Zn/HZSM-5 and Zn/HZSM-11 zeolite catalysts in alkylation of benzene with dimethyl ether显示文摘HZSM-11 zeolite supported Zn catalysts with different Zn contents(xZn/HZSM-11A) were prepared. In the alkylation of benzene with dimethyl ether(DME) in a fixed bed reactor, the catalyst with Zn content of 6 wt%(6Zn/HZSM-11A) showed appropriate performance. Focus was put on the comparison between 6Zn/HZSM-5 and 6Zn/HZSM-11 with the same crystal size of 600–800 nm, and also with the similar BET surface area, micropore volume, Si/Al2 molar ratio, and acidity. In the alkylation of benzene with DME, the 6Zn/HZSM-11 showed better activity and stability, and especially enhanced the conversion of benzene and selectivities to xylene and trimethylbenzene, compared with the6Zn/HZSM-5. | 12 | Positional cloning of PmCH1357 reveals the origin and allelic variation of the Pm2 gene for powdery mildew resistance in wheat显示文摘Powdery mildew, caused by the biotrophic fungus Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici(Bgt), is a prevalent disease in common wheat(Triticum aestivum L.) and causes serious yield losses worldwide. We used a map-based approach to clone the major broad-spectrum powdery mildew resistance gene Pm CH1357 from wheat breeding line CH1357. Pm CH1357 was mapped to a 526 kb region containing only Traes CS5 D01 G044600. The Traes CS5 D01 G044600 sequence of the susceptibility allele in Taichung 29(TC29) was identical to that in Chinese Spring, whereas the sequence of the resistance allele in CH1357 was identical to Pm2a previously cloned from the germplasm Ulka/*8Cc. The susceptibility allele in TC29 contained a 7 bp deletion in exon 1, resulting in loss of 856 of the 1277 amino acids in the predicted nucleotide-binding domain leucine-rich repeat containing Pm2a protein.Pm CH1357/Pm2a sequence was also isolated from the Chinese wheat landraces and cultivars that were previously reported to possess the resistance gene Pm2b, Pm2c,PmLX66, or PmND399. The Pm CH1357/Pm2a resistance allele was present in 10 of 495 accessions in core germplasm and contemporary cultivars from China and the USA. | 17 | Silk-derived peptide nanospirals assembled by self-propelled wormlike filaments显示文摘Swirl-like nanospiral is a common structure found in free-swimming biological systems,such as microtubules and actin filaments or slender bacteria.It is desired for artificially designed dynamic nanomaterials.However,the spiral formation has rarely been reported in both engineered peptides and regenerated proteins.Herein,we report that such a unique assembly behavior can be achieved by using a fusion peptide consisting of a silk-derived peptide(i.e.,GAGAGAGY)and a hydrophobic,photoresponsive azobenzene(Azo)segment.In this fusion structure,GAGAGAGY acts as a domain that spontaneously forms an elongated filament in an aqueous solution,while Azo acts as a'light-operated switch'that can undergo photoinduced isomerization to modulate the self-propulsion forces and assembly behavior.With this design,the critical factors that affect the assembly of Azo-GAGAGAGY filament,including(i)length and flexibility of filaments;(ii)propulsion,and(iii)excluded volume interactions force the tip of the filament to wind up,can be regulated to realize the spiral formation.In addition,the configurations of Azo-GAGAGAGY filaments,such as straight nanoribbons,wavy nanoribbons,single-circle spiral,and multiple-circle spiral,can be facilely mediated by changing the preparation procedure,concentration,and pH value of Azo-GAGAGAGY solution,as these changes have significant influences on self-propulsion forces.Our findings can help in the better understanding of nonequilibrium thermodynamics and collective behavior of biological systems.The findings can be used as a guideline for the designs of nanoactuators,microswimmers,transformable microrobots,and intelligent drug carriers. | Huijuan Wen Jinrong Yao Xin Chen Shengjie Ling Zhengzhong Shao | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,1: | 0 |

| 20 | Enhancing maize's nitrogen-fixing potential through ZmSBT3, a gene suppressing mucilage secretion∞显示文摘Maize(Zea mays)requires substantial amounts of nitrogen,posing a challenge for its cultivation.Recent work discovered that some ancient Mexican maize landraces harbored diazotrophic bacteria in mucilage secreted by their aerial roots.To see if this trait is retained in modern maize,we conducted a field study of aerial root mucilage(ARM)in 258 inbred lines.We observed that ARM secretion is common in modern maize,but the amount significantly varies,and only a few lines have retained the nitrogen‐fixing traits found in ancient landraces.The mucilage of the high‐ARM inbred line HN5‐724 had high nitrogen‐fixing enzyme activity and abundant diazotrophic bacteria.Our genome‐wide association study identified 17 candidate genes associated with ARM across three environments.Knockouts of one candidate gene,the subtilase family gene ZmSBT3,confirmed that it negatively regulates ARM secretion.Notably,the ZmSBT3 knockout lines had increased biomass and total nitrogen accumulation under nitrogen‐free culture conditions.High ARM was associated with three ZmSBT3 haplotypes that were gradually lost during maize domestication,being retained in only a few modern inbred lines such as HN5‐724.In summary,our results identify ZmSBT3 as a potential tool for enhancing ARM,and thus nitrogen fixation,in maize. | Jingyang Gao Peijiang Feng Jingli Zhang Chaopei Dong Zhao Wang Mingxiang Chen Zhongliang Yu Bowen Zhao Xin Hou Huijuan Wang Zhaokun Wu Razia Sultana Jemim Haidong Yu Doudou Sun Pei Jing Jiafa Chen Weibin Song Xuecai Zhang Zijian Zhou Jianyu Wu | 2023 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2023,65,12: | 0 |
