6Study on the COVID-19 epidemic in China's Mainland between November 2022 and January 2023,with prediction of its tendency显示文摘The prediction system EpiSIX was used to study the COVID-19 epidemic in China's Mainland between November 2022 and January 2023,based on reported data from December 9,2022,to January 30,2023,released by The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention on February 1,2023.Three kinds of reported data were used for model fitting:the daily numbers of positive nucleic acid tests and deaths,and the daily number of hospital beds taken by COVID-19 patients.It was estimated that the overall infection rate was 87.54%and the overall case fatality rate was 0.078%–0.116%(median 0.100%).Assuming that a new COVID-19 epidemic outbreak would start in March or April of 2023,induced by a slightly more infectious mutant strain,we predicted a possible large rebound between September and October 2023,with a peak demand of between 800,000 and 900,000 inpatient beds.If no such new outbreak was induced by other variants,then the current COVID-19 epidemic course in China's Mainland would remain under control until the end of 2023.However,it is suggested that the necessary medical resources be prepared to manage possible COVID-19 epidemic emergencies in the near future,especially for the period between September and October 2023.Yao Bai Zhihang Peng Fengying Wei Zhen Jin Jinjie Wang Ximing Xu Xinyan Zhang Jun Xu Zixiong Ren Bulai Lu Zhaojun Wang Jianguo Xu Senzhong Huang 2023Journal of Biosafety and Biosecurity2023,5,1:1
7CoS_(2)nanowires supported graphdiyne for highly efficient hydrogen evolution reaction显示文摘Transition metal sulfides are an important category for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).However,only few edge unsaturated sulfurs functionalize as catalytic sites,which has dramatically limited the catalytic activity and stability.In this work,planar unsaturated sulfurs in(211)plane of the CoS_(2)nanowires have been successfully activated through constructing Graphdiyne-CoS_(2)heterojunction nanocomposites.The corresponding electrons transfer energy barriers for these planar unsaturated sulfurs have been significantly diminished,which are induced by the synergetic effects of the sp~1 hybridized carbons and unsaturated planar sulfurs.In addition,DFT simulations reveal the synergetic effects of the sp~1 hybridized carbons and unsaturated planar sulfurs can promote electron transfer kinetics of the key step,VolmerHeyrovsky step,of the reaction.As expected,the Graphdiyne-CoS_(2)heterojunction nanocomposites exhibit superior HER catalytic performance with low overpotential of 97 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2),and the Tafel slope of 56 mV dec^(-1).Furthermore,the heterojunction shows outstanding stability as well due to the pr tection of the Graphdiyne(GDY).The approach thus paves the way for the further efficient transition metal disulfides catalyst manufactures.Wangjing Xie Kang Liu Guodong Shi Xinliang Fu Xiaojie Chen Zixiong Fan Min Liu Mingjian Yuan Mei Wang 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,9:1

10Study and prediction of the 2022 global monkeypox epidemic显示文摘The World Health Organization(WHO)declared monkeypox as a public health emergency of international concern(PHEIC)on July 23,2022,their highest level of alert.This raised concerns about the management of the global monkeypox outbreak,as well as the scientific analysis and accurate prediction of the future course of the epidemic.This study used EpiSIX(an analysis and prediction system for epidemics based on a general SEIR model)to analyze the monkeypox epidemic and to forecast the major tendencies based on data from the USA CDC(http://gffzz43ce3729aad84d34sn9ok0b9wnvn56ofn.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn)and the WHO(http://gffzz36b398b81f8a4a4csn9ok0b9wnvn56ofn.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/health-topics/monkeypox).The global outbreak of monkeypox started in the UK on May 2,2022,which marked the beginning of an epidemic wave.As of October 28,2022,the cumulative number of reported cases worldwide was 77,115,with 36 deaths.EpiSIX simulations predict that the global monkeypox epidemic will enter a low epidemic status on March 1,2023 with the cumulative number of confirmed cases ranging from 85,000 to 124,000,and the total number of deaths ranging from 60 to 87.Our analysis revealed that the basic reproduction number(R0)of monkeypox virus(MPXV)is near to 3.1 and the percentage of asymptomatic individuals is 13.1%–14.5%,both of which are similar to the data for SARS.The vaccination efficiency against susceptibility(VEs)of individuals who have had monkeypox is~79%,and the vaccination efficiency against infectiousness(VEi)of individuals who have had monkeypox is~76%–82%.The mean incubation period for monkeypox is 8 days.In total,94.7%of infected individuals develop symptoms within 20 days and recover within 2 weeks after the confirmation of symptoms.Simulation results using EpiSIX showed that ring vaccination was remarkably effective against monkeypox.Our findings confirmed that a 20-day isolation for close contacts is necessary.Fengying Wei Zhihang Peng Zhen Jin Jinjie Wang Ximing Xu Xinyan Zhang Jun Xu Zixiong Ren Yao Bai Xiaoli Wang Bulai Lu Zhaojun Wang Jianguo Xu Senzhong Huang 2022Journal of Biosafety and Biosecurity2022,4,2:0
11A review in rational design of graphene toward advanced Li-S batteries显示文摘For lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries,the problems of polysulfides shuttle effect,slow dynamics of sulfur species and growth of lithium dendrite during charge/discharge processes have greatly impeded its practical development.Of core importance to advance the performances of Li-S batteries lies in the selection and design of novel materials with strong polysulfides adsorption ability and enhanced redox electrocatalytic behavior.Graphene,affording high electrical conductivity,superior carrier mobility,and large surface area,has presented great potentials in improving the performances of Li-S cells.However,the properties of intrinsic graphene are far enough to achieve the multiple management toward electrochemical catalysis of energy storage systems.In addition,a general and objective understanding of its role in Li-S systems is still lacking.Along this line,we summarize the design routes from three aspects,including defect engineering,dimension adjustment,and heterostructure modulation,to perfect the graphene properties.Thus-synthesized graphene materials are explored as multifunctional electrocatalysts targeting high-efficiency and long-lifespan Li-S batteries,based on which the regulating role of graphene is comprehensively analyzed.This project provides a perspective on the effective engineering management of graphene materials to boost Li-S chemistry,meanwhile promote the practical application process for graphene materials.Haina Ci Zixiong Shi Menglei Wang Yan He Jingyu Sun 2023Nano Research Energy2023,2,2:0
12Prediction of NFT Sale Price Fluctuations on OpenSea Using Machine Learning Approaches显示文摘The rapid expansion of the non-fungible token(NFT)market has attracted many investors.However,studies on the NFT price fluctuations have been relatively limited.To date,the machine learning approach has not been used to demonstrate a specific error in NFT sale price fluctuation prediction.The aim of this study was to develop a prediction model for NFT price fluctuations using the NFT trading information obtained from OpenSea,the world’s largest NFT marketplace.We used Python programs to collect data and summarized them as:NFT information,collection information,and related account information.AdaBoost and Random Forest(RF)algorithms were employed to predict the sale price and price fluctuation of NFTs using regression and classification models,respectively.We found that the NFT related account information,especially the number of favorites and activity status of creators,confer a good predictive power to both the models.AdaBoost in the regression model had more accurate predictions,the root mean square error(RMSE)in predicting NFT sale price was 0.047.In predicting NFT sale price fluctuations,RF performed better,which the area under the curve(AUC)reached 0.956.We suggest that investors should pay more attention to the information of NFT creators.We anticipate that these prediction models will reduce the number of investment failures for the investors.Zixiong Wang Qiuying Chen Sang-Joon Lee 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,5:0

15Phosphorylation of PB2 at serine 181 restricts viral replication and virulence of the highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza virus in mice显示文摘Influenza A virus(IAV)continues to pose a pandemic threat to public health,resulting a high mortality rate annually and during pandemic years.Posttranslational modification of viral protein plays a substantial role in regulating IAV infection.Here,based on immunoprecipitation(IP)-based mass spectrometry(MS)and purified virus-coupled MS,a total of 89 phosphorylation sites distributed among 10 encoded viral proteins of IAV were identified,including 60 novel phosphorylation sites.Additionally,for the first time,we provide evidence that PB2 can also be acetylated at site K187.Notably,the PB2 S181 phosphorylation site was consistently identified in both IP-based MS and purified virus-based MS.Both S181 and K187 are exposed on the surface of the PB2 protein and are highly conserved in various IAV strains,suggesting their fundamental importance in the IAV life cycle.Bioinformatic analysis results demonstrated that S181E/A and K187Q/R mimic mutations do not significantly alter the PB2 protein structure.While continuous phosphorylation mimicked by the PB2 S181E mutation substantially decreases viral fitness in mice,PB2 K187Q mimetic acetylation slightly enhances viral virulence in mice.Mechanistically,PB2 S181E substantially impairs viral polymerase activity and viral replication,remarkably dampens protein stability and nuclear accumulation of PB2,and significantly weakens IAV-induced inflammatory responses.Therefore,our study further enriches the database of phosphorylation and acetylation sites of influenza viral proteins,laying a foundation for subsequent mechanistic studies.Meanwhile,the unraveled antiviral effect of PB2 S181E mimetic phosphorylation may provide a new target for the subsequent study of antiviral drugs.Jiao Hu Zixiong Zeng Xia Chen Manyu Zhang Zenglei Hu Min Gu Xiaoquan Wang Ruyi Gao Shunlin Hu Yu Chen Xiaowen Liu Daxin Peng Xiufan Liu 2024Virologica Sinica2024,39,1:0
