| 1 | Massive individual orbital angular momentum channels for multiplexing enabled by Dammann gratings显示文摘Data transmission rates in optical communication systems are approaching the limits of conventional multiplexing methods.Orbital angular momentum(OAM)in optical vortex beams offers a new degree of freedom and the potential to increase the capacity of free-space optical communication systems,with OAM beams acting as information carriers for OAM division multiplexing(OAM-DM).We demonstrate independent collinear OAM channel generation,transmission and simultaneous detection using Dammann optical vortex gratings(DOVGs).We achieve 80/160 Tbit s^(-1) capacity with uniform power distributions along all channels,with 1600 individually modulated quadrature phase-shift keying(QPSK)/16-QAM data channels multiplexed by 10 OAM states,80 wavelengths and two polarizations.DOVG-enabled OAM multiplexing technology removes the bottleneck of massive OAM state parallel detection and offers an opportunity to raise optical communication systems capacity to Pbit s^(-1) level. | Ting Lei Meng Zhang Yuru Li Ping Jia Gordon Ning Liu Xiaogeng Xu Zhaohui Li Changjun Min Jiao Lin Changyuan Yu Hanben Niu Xiaocong Yuan | 2015 | Light(Science & Applications)2015,4,1: | 47 |
| 2 | Rare earth metal modified three dimensionally ordered macroporous MnO_x-CeO_2 catalyst for diesel soot combustion显示文摘Three dimensionally ordered macroporous(3 DOM) Ce-based catalysts were successfully prepared via a surfactant-assisted colloidal crystal template(CCT) route. The as-synthesized catalysts showed wellordered structures with macropores and small interconnected pore windows. The Raman results indicate that the catalyst persists pure fluorite cubic phases until the molar ratio of Mn exceeds 0.3, therefore MnO_x particles form and impede the contact of the active site and the reagent and restraining soot combustion. The doping of Nd into MnO_x-CeO_2 enhances the catalytic activity because of increased oxygen vacancy, Mn^(4+)content and stronger redox ability. Nd-doping also improves thermal stability of the catalyst due to less sintering and none phase separation after thermal aging. | 3 | Whole-genome sequencing provides insights into the genetic diversity and domestication of bitter gourd(Momordica spp.)显示文摘Bitter gourd(Momordica charantia)is a popular cultivated vegetable in Asian and African countries.To reveal the characteristics of the genomic structure,evolutionary trajectory,and genetic basis underlying the domestication of bitter gourd,we performed whole-genome sequencing of the cultivar Dali-11 and the wild small-fruited line TR and resequencing of 187 bitter gourd germplasms from 16 countries.The major gene clusters(Bi clusters)for the biosynthesis of cucurbitane triterpenoids,which confer a bitter taste,are highly conserved in cucumber,melon,and watermelon.Comparative analysis among cucurbit genomes revealed that the Bi cluster involved in cucurbitane triterpenoid biosynthesis is absent in bitter gourd.Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the TR group,including 21 bitter gourd germplasms,may belong to a new species or subspecies independent from M.charantia.Furthermore,we found that the remaining 166 M.charantia germplasms are geographically differentiated,and we identified 710,412,and 290 candidate domestication genes in the South Asia,Southeast Asia,and China populations,respectively.This study provides new insights into bitter gourd genetic diversity and domestication and will facilitate the future genomics-enabled improvement of bitter gourd. | Junjie Cui Yan Yang Shaobo Luo Le Wang Rukui Huang Qingfang Wen Xiaoxia Han Nansheng Miao Jiaowen Cheng Ziji Liu Changyuan Zhang Chengcheng Feng Haisheng Zhu Jianwen Su Xinjian Wan Fang Hu Yu Niu Xiaoming Zheng Yulan Yang Dai Shan Zhensheng Dong Weiming He Narinder P.S.Dhillon Kailin Hu | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 7 |
| 4 | A novel method for extracting vanadium by low temperature sodium roasting from converter vanadium slag显示文摘Long-term high temperature in conventional vanadium extraction process would cause particles to be sintered and wrapped, thus reducing extraction efficiency of vanadium. Based on the purpose of directional conversion and process intensification, this work proposed a combination of low temperature sodium roasting and high efficiency selective oxidation leaching in vanadium extraction. The investigation of the reaction mechanism suggested that the structure of vanadium slag was changed by roasting, which also caused the fracture of spinel.The addition of MnO2 promoted the directional oxidation of low-valent vanadium into high valence. It also found that Na2S2O8 could oxidize low-valent vanadium effectively in leaching. The leaching efficiency of vanadium reached 87.74% under the optimum conditions, including a roasting temperature of 650 ℃, a roasting time of 2.0 h, a molar ratio of sodium-to-vanadium of 0.6, a MnO2(roasting additive) dosage of 5 wt% and a Na2S2O8(leaching oxidant) dosage of 5 wt%. | 6 | Joint timing and frequency synchronization in coherent optical OFDM systems显示文摘In this paper,we review our joint timing and frequency synchronization algorithms in coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(CO-OFDM)systems.We first present a timing estimation method by designing the pattern of the training symbol,whose timing metric has a sharp and clear peak,to ensure accurate timing offset(TO)estimation performance.Then we provide both data-aided(DA)and blind(BL)approaches to estimate the carrier frequency offset(CFO).For the DA algorithm,we utilize the same training symbol structure as the timing estimation does,while for the BL algorithm,we utilize the zero-subcarrier power(ZSP)to achieve full-range CFO estimation.Note that our joint timing and frequency synchronization approaches require only one OFDM symbol,which ensure not only the data transmission efficiency,but also the TO and CFO estimation performance.A modified BL ZSP algorithm is proposed to further improve the CFO estimation performance by taking the power average over a series of OFDM symbols.The effectiveness of the TO estimation algorithm,and both the DA and BL CFO estimation algorithms are verified and demonstrated in both simulations and experiments. | Xinwei DU Pooi-Yuen KAM Changyuan YU | 2019 | Frontiers of Optoelectronics2019,12,1: | 3 |

| 8 | Variation of fluxes of water vapor, sensible heat and carbon dioxide above winter wheat and maize canopies显示文摘Surface energy fluxes were measured using Bowen-Ratio Energy Balance technique (BREB) and eddy correlation system at Luancheng of Hebei Province, on the North China Plain from 1999 to 2001. Average diumal variation of surface energy fluxes and CO2 flux for maize showed the inverse 'U 'type. The average peak fluxes did not appear at noon, but after noon. The average peak CO2 flux was about 1.65 mgm-2 s-1. Crop water use efficiency (WUE) increased quickly in the morning, stabilized after 10:00 and decreased quickly after 15:00 with no evident peak value. The ratio of latent heat flux (λE) to net solar radiation (Rn) was always higher than 70% during winter wheat and maize seasons. The seasonal average ratio of sensible heat flux (H) divided by Rn stayed at about 15% above the field surface; the seasonal average ratio of conductive heat flux (G) divided by Rn varied between 5% and 13%, and the average G/Rn from the wheat canopy was evidently higher than that from the maize canopy. The evaporative fraction (EF) is correlated to the Bowen ratio in a reverse function. EF for winter wheat increased quickly during that revival stage, after the stage, it gradually stabilized to 1.0, and fluctuated around 1.0.
