| 2 | Causality Diagram-based Scheduling Approach for Blast Furnace Gas System显示文摘Rational use of blast furnace gas(BFG) in steel industry can raise economic profit, save fossil energy resources and alleviate the environment pollution. In this paper, a causality diagram is established to describe the causal relationships among the decision objective and the variables of the scheduling process for the industrial system, based on which the total scheduling amount of the BFG system can be computed by using a causal fuzzy C-means(CFCM) clustering algorithm. In this algorithm,not only the distances among the historical samples but also the effects of different solutions on the gas tank level are considered.The scheduling solution can be determined based on the proposed causal probability of the causality diagram calculated by the total amount and the conditions of the adjustable units. The causal probability quantifies the impact of different allocation schemes of the total scheduling amount on the BFG system. An evaluation method is then proposed to evaluate the effectiveness of the scheduling solutions. | 3 | Primary investigation of the pollution status of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in water and soil of Xuanwei and Fuyuan,Yunnan Province,China显示文摘Lung cancer incidence in Xuanwei and Fuyuan is extremely high. The air pollution, especially indoor airborne PAHs generated by burning smoky coals, has been considered as the most probable reason. The air pollution may affect drinking water and soil through dry and wet deposition. In this study, the concentrations of PAHs in water and soil samples from Xuanwei and Fuyuan were monitored to investigate the influence of atmospheric PAHs pollution on water and soil. No obvious PAHs pollution in water was found in these two areas, indicating that airborne PAHs have no apparent effect on the drinking water (well water). The smoky coal combustion from household and industry, such as the activities related to power plants, coking plants and chemical industries, is responsible for the soil PAHs pollution in these two areas. | 4 | Effects of silty sand on CO_2 corrosion behavior of low-Cr tubing steel显示文摘An experimental study was carried out to assess the effects of silty sand on the CO 2 corrosion behavior of 1 wt% Cr (1Cr) and 3 wt% Cr (3Cr) tubing steel under 0.5 MPa CO 2 at 100°C and 1.5 m/s flow velocity.The 1Cr and 3Cr specimens both suffered general corrosion,but the surface was coarser in the pure CO 2 corrosion environment.Under silty sand conditions,severe pitting corrosion occurred on the 1Cr specimens and some acicular pitting appeared on the 3Cr specimens.The average corrosion rates of 1Cr and 3Cr steels increased by factors of 3 and 1.6,respectively.The corrosion products were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM),energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS),X-ray diffraction (XRD),and electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).The results show that silty sand acts as an inclusion in corrosion product films and reduces the homogeneity and density of the products,rather than abrading the corrosion film.Ion-diffusion channels may build up around the irregular silty sand;this would degrade the protective capabilities of the product films and aggravate corrosion. | YAN Wei DENG JinGen LI XiaoRong DONG XingLiang ZHANG ChunYang | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,8: | 4 |

| 7 | Stem cell transplantation for treating stroke:status,trends and development显示文摘The developing approaches of thrombolytic therapy, endovascular treatment, neuroprotective therapy, and stem cell therapy have enabled breakthroughs in stroke treatment. In this study, we summarize and analyze trends and progress in stem cell transplantation for stroke treatment by retrieval of literature from Thomson Reuters Web of Science database, the NIH Clinical Trial Planning Grant Program, and Clinical Trials Registration Center in North America. In the last 10 years, there has been an increasing number of published articles on stem cell transplantation for stroke treatment. In particular, research from the USA and China has focused on stem cell transplantation. A total of 2,167 articles addressing stem cell transplantation for stroke treatment from 2004 to 2013 were retrieved from the Thomson Reuters Web of Science database. The majority of these articles were from the USA(854, 39.4%), with the journal Stroke publishing the most articles(145, 6.7%). Of the published articles, 143 were funded by the National Institutes of Health(accounting for 6.6% of total publications), and 91 by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Between 2013 and 2014, the National Institutes of Health provided financial support($130 million subsidy) for 329 research projects on stroke therapy using stem cell transplantation. In 2014, 215 new projects were approved, receiving grants of up to $70,440,000. Ninety clinical trials focusing on stem cell transplantation for stroke were registered in the Clinical Trial Registration Center in North America, with 40 trials registered in the USA(ranked first place). | 11 | Safety and immunogenicity of a modified COVID-19 mRNA vaccine,SYS6006,as a fourth-dose booster following three doses of inactivated vaccines in healthy adults:an open-labeled Phase 1 trial显示文摘The continuous emergence of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)variants led to a rapid decline in protection efficacy and neutralizing titers even after three doses of COVID-19 vaccines.Here,we report an open-labeled Phase I clinical trial of a modified mRNA vaccine(SYS6006)as a fourth-dose booster in healthy adults.Eighteen eligible participants,who had completed three doses of inactivated COVID-19 vaccines,received a fourth boosting dose of SYS6006-20μg.Eighteen convalescent COVID-19 patients were enrolled for the collection of serum samples as a comparator of immunogenicity.The primary endpoint of this trial was titers of anti-receptor binding domain of spike glycoprotein(RBD)antibodies of the Omicron strain(BA.2 and BA.4/5)in serum;titers of neutralizing antibodies against pseudovirus of the Omicron strain(BA.2 and BA.4/5).The secondary endpoint was the incidence of adverse events within 30 days after the boosting.The exploratory endpoint was the cellular immune responses(interferon gamma,IFN-γ).This trial was registered with the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry website.No serious adverse events were reported within 30 days after vaccination.No Grade 3 fever or serious adverse event was reported in the SYS6006 group.Notably,SYS6006 elicited higher titers and longer increases in anti-RBD antibodies and neutralizing antibodies(>90 days)compared with the convalescent group(P<0.0001)against Omicron strain(BA.2 and BA.4/5).Besides,higher positive spots of T-cell-secreting IFN-γwere observed in the SYS6006 group than those in the convalescent group(P<0.05).These data demonstrated that SYS6006 was well tolerated and highly immunogenic,generating a stronger and more durable immune response against different variants of SARS-CoV-2. | Yuzhou Gui Ye Cao Jiajin He Chunyang Zhao Wei Zheng Ling Qian Jie Cheng Chengyin Yu Chen Yu Kun Lou Gangyi Liu Jingying Jia | 2023 | Life Metabolism2023,2,3: | 1 |

| 13 | Oceanic crustal structure and tectonic origin of the southern Kyushu-Palau Ridge in the Philippine Sea显示文摘A new high-resolution velocity model of the southern Kyushu-Palau Ridge(KPR) was derived from an activesource wide-angle seismic reflection/refraction profile. The result shows that the KPR crust can be divided into the upper crust with the P-wave velocity less than 6.1 m/s, and lower crust with P-wave velocity between 6.1 km/s and 7.2 km/s. The crustal thickness of the KPR reaches 12.0 km in the center, which gradually decreases to 5.0–6.0 km at sides. The velocity structure of the KPR is similar to the structures of the adjacent West Philippine Basin and Parece Vela Basin(PVB), indicating a typical oceanic crust. Isostatic analysis shows that some regional compensation occurs during the loading of the KPR, which implies that the KPR was built mainly by magmatism during the splitting of the Izu-Bonin-Mariana arc and the following back-arc seafloor spreading of the PVB during30–28 Ma BP. | 17 | Changes of learning and memory ability associated with neuronal nitric oxide synthase in brain tissues of rats with acute alcoholism显示文摘BACKGROUD: Ethanol can influence neural development and the ability of learning and memory, but its mechanism of the neural toxicity is not clear till now. Endogenous nitric oxide (NO) as a gaseous messenger is proved to play an important role in the formation of synaptic plasticity, transference of neuronal information and the neural development, but excessive nitro oxide can result in neurotoxicity. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of acute alcoholism on the learning and memory ability and the content of neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) in brain tissue of rats. DESIGN: A randomized controlled animal experiment. SETTING: Department of Physiology, Xinxiang Medical College. MATERIALS: Eighteen male clean-degree SD rats of 18-22 weeks were raised adaptively for 2 days, and then randomly divided into control group (n = 8) and experimental group (n = 10). The nNOS immunohistochemical reagent was provided by Beijing Zhongshan Golden Bridge Biotechnology Co.,Ltd. Y-maze was produced by Suixi Zhenghua Apparatus Plant. METHODS: The experiment was carried out in the laboratory of the Department of Physiology, Xinxiang Medical College from June to October in 2005. ① Rats in the experimental group were intraperitoneally injected with ethanol (2.5 g/kg) which was dissolved in normal saline (20%). The loss of righting reflex and ataxia within 5 minutes indicated the successful model. Whereas rats in the control group were given saline of the same volume. ② Examinations of learning and memory ability: The Y-maze tests for learning and memory ability were performed at 6 hours after the models establishment. The rats were put into the Y-maze separately. The test was performed in a quiet and dark room. There was a lamp at the end of each of three pathways in Y-maze and the base of maze had electric net. All the lamps of the three pathways were turned on for 3 minutes and then turned off. One lamp was turned on randomly, and the other two delayed automatically. In 5 seconds after alternation, pulsating electric current presented in the base of unsafe area to stimulate rat’s feet to run to the safe area. The lighting lasted for 15 seconds as one test. Running from unsafe area to safe area at one time in 10 seconds was justified as successful. Such test was repeated for 10 times for each rat and the successful frequency was recorded. The qualified standard of maze test was that the rat arrived in the safe area 9 times during 10 experiments. The number of trainings for the qualified standard was used to represent the result of spatial learning. ③ Determination of the content of nNOS in brain tissue: After the Y-maze test, the rats were anaesthetized, and blood was let from the incision on right auricle, transcardially perfused via the left ventricle with about 200 mL saline, then fixed by perfusion of 40 g/L paraformaldehyde. Hippocampal CA1 region, corpus striatum and cerebellum were taken to prepare serial freezing coronal sections. The nNOS contents in the brain regions were determined with the immunohistochemical methods to reflect the changes of nitric oxide in brain tissue. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The changes of learning and memory ability and the changes of the nNOS contents in the brain tissue of rats with acute alcoholism were observed. RESULTS: One rat in the experimental group was excluded due to its slow reaction to electric stimulation in the Y-maze test, and the other 17 rats were involved in the analysis of results. ① The training times to reach qualifying standards of Y-maze in the experimental group was more than that in the control group [(34.33 ±13.04), (27.50±8.79) times, P < 0.05]. ② Forms and numbers of nNOS positive neurons in brain tissue: It could be observed under light microscope that in the hippocampal CA1 region, there were fewer nNOS positive neurons, which were lightly stained, and the processes were not clear enough; But the numbers of the positive neurons which were deeply stained as buffy were obviously increased in the experimental group, the cell body and cytoplasm of process were evenly stained, but the nucleus was not stained. The nNOS positive neurons in corpus striatum had similar forms and size in the experimental group and control group. The form of the nNOS positive neurons in cerebellum were similar between the two groups. The numbers of nNOS positive neurons in hippocampal CA1 region and corpus striatum in the experimental group [(18.22±7.47), (11.38±5.00) cells/high power field] were obviously higher than those in the control group [(10.15±4.24), (6.15±3.69) cells/high power field. The number of nNOS positive neurons in cerebellum had no significant difference between the two groups [(49.56±18.84), (44.43±15.42) cells/high power field, P > 0.05].
