| 1 | Cloning of a gene-edited macaque monkey by somatic cell nuclear transfer显示文摘Cloning of macaque monkeys by somatic cell nucleus transfer(SCNT) allows the generation of monkeys with uniform genetic backgrounds that are useful for the development of non-human primate models of human diseases. Here, we report the feasibility of this approach by SCNT of fibroblasts from a macaque monkey(Macaca fascicularis), in which a core circadian transcription factor BMAL1 was knocked out by clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat/Cas9 gene editing(see accompanying paper).Out of 325 SCNT embryos transferred into 65 surrogate monkeys, we cloned five macaque monkeys with BMAL1 mutations in both alleles without mosaicism, with nuclear genes identical to that of the fibroblast donor monkey. Further peripheral blood m RNA analysis confirmed the complete absence of the wild-type BMAL1 transcript. | 2 | Preparation of Fe–Co based MOF-74 and its effective adsorption of arsenic from aqueous solution显示文摘To obtain a cost-effective adsorbent for the removal of arsenic in water,a novel nanostructured Fe–Co based metal organic framework(MOF-74)adsorbent was successfully prepared via a simple solvothermal method.The adsorption experiments showed that the optimal molar ratio of Fe/Co in the adsorbent was 2:1.The Fe_2Co_1MOF-74 was characterized by various techniques and the results showed that the nanoparticle diameter ranged from60 to 80 nm and the specific surface area was 147.82 m^2/g.The isotherm and kinetic parameters of arsenic removal on Fe_2Co_1MOF-74 were well-fitted by the Langmuir and pseudo-second-order models.The maximum adsorption capacities toward As(III)and As(V)were 266.52 and 292.29 mg/g,respectively.The presence of sulfate,carbonate and humic acid had no obvious effect on arsenic adsorption.However,coexisting phosphate significantly hindered the removal of arsenic,especially at high concentrations(10 mmol/L).Electrostatic interaction and hydroxyl and metal–oxygen groups played important roles in the adsorption of arsenic.Furthermore,the prepared adsorbent had stable adsorption ability after regeneration and when used in a real-water matrix.The excellent adsorption performance of Fe_2Co_1MOF-74 material makes it a potentially promising adsorbent for the removal of arsenic. | Jianqiang Sun Xiaobing Zhang Anping Zhang Chunyang Liao | 2019 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,6: | 11 |
| 3 | Primary investigation of the pollution status of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in water and soil of Xuanwei and Fuyuan,Yunnan Province,China显示文摘Lung cancer incidence in Xuanwei and Fuyuan is extremely high. The air pollution, especially indoor airborne PAHs generated by burning smoky coals, has been considered as the most probable reason. The air pollution may affect drinking water and soil through dry and wet deposition. In this study, the concentrations of PAHs in water and soil samples from Xuanwei and Fuyuan were monitored to investigate the influence of atmospheric PAHs pollution on water and soil. No obvious PAHs pollution in water was found in these two areas, indicating that airborne PAHs have no apparent effect on the drinking water (well water). The smoky coal combustion from household and industry, such as the activities related to power plants, coking plants and chemical industries, is responsible for the soil PAHs pollution in these two areas. | 4 | Hollow TiO_2 spheres with improved visible light photocatalytic activity synergistically enhanced by multi-stimulative: Morphology advantage,carbonate-doping and the induced Ti^(3+)显示文摘Great efforts have been devoted to improve the photocatalytic activity of TiO_2 in the visible light region. Rational design of the external structure and adjustment of intrinsic electronic status by impurity doping are two main effective ways to achieve this purpose. A facile onepot synthetic approach was developed to prepare C-doped hollow TiO_2 spheres, which simultaneously realized these advantages. The synthesized TiO_2 exhibits a mesoporous hollow spherical structure composed of fine nanocrystals, leading to high specific surface area(~180 m^2/g) and versatile porous texture. Carbonate-doping was achieved by a postthermal treatment at a relatively low temperature(200°C), which makes the absorption edge red-shifted to the visible region of the solar spectrum. Concomitantly, Ti^(3+) induced by C-doping also functions in improving the visible-light photocatalytic activity by reducing the band gap. There exists a synergistic effect from multiple stimulatives to enhance the photocatalytic effect of the prepared TiO_2 catalyst. | 16 | Migration mechanism and risk assessment of perand polyfluoroalkyl substances in the Ya'Er Lake oxidation pond area,China显示文摘The migration mechanisms,sources,and environmental risks of 29 legacy and emerging perfluorinated and polyfluoroalkyl species present in an oxidation pond(Ya'Er Lake)were investigated for treating sewage based on the analysis of their occurrence and distribution.The concentration of per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances(PFAS)in pond area was between0.30 and 63.2 ng/g dw(dry weight),with the overall average concentration of 8.00 ng/g dw.Notably,the PFAS concentrations in the surface sediments near the sewage outlet in Pond-1(50.2 ng/g dw)and Pond-5(average 15.1 ng/g dw)were 1–2 orders of magnitude higher than those in other areas.In general,the legacy PFAS,i.e.,perfluorooctane sulfonic acid was considered to be the major pollutant in the polluted area,on average,accounting for 73.0%of the total concentration of PFAS pollutants.By evaluating the regional distribution of different PFAS homologs,the short-chain PFAS pollutants with lower K_(ow)were found to migrate farther in both horizontal and vertical directions.The sewage outlets in Pond-1 and Pond-5are the main pollution sources in polluted area and the emerging PFAS pollutants in Pond-5have replaced the legacy PFAS pollutants as the main pollutants.Based on positive matrix factorization analysis,three main industrial sources of PFAS pollutants in the study area were identified:protective coating,fire-fighting,and food packaging sources.Moreover,the environmental risk assessment results showed that most study areas exhibited medium environmental risk(0.01≤Risk quotient(RQ)<1),indicating that the ecological environment risks in this area need further attention. | Chang Li Huifang Zhong Jing Wu Lingyi Meng Yingjun Wang Chunyang Liao Yawei Wang Yujian He | 2024 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2024,,2: | 0 |
| 17 | Recognition for avian influenza virus proteins based on support vector machine and linear discriminant analysis显示文摘Total 200 properties related to structural characteristics were employed to represent structures of 400 HA coded proteins of influenza virus as training samples. Some recognition models for HA proteins of avian influenza virus (AIV) were developed using support vector machine (SVM) and linear discriminant analysis (LDA). The results obtained from LDA are as follows: the identification accuracy (Ria) for training samples is 99.8% and Ria by leave one out cross validation is 99.5%. Both Ria of 99.8% for training samples and Ria of 99.3% by leave one out cross validation are obtained using SVM model, respectively. External 200 HA proteins of influenza virus were used to validate the external predictive power of the resulting model.
