1Feasibility of Estimating Heavy Metal Contaminations in Floodplain Soils Using Laboratory-Based Hyperspectral Data—A Case Study Along Le’an River, China显示文摘It is necessary to estimate heavy metal concentrations within soils for understanding heavy metal contaminations and for keeping the sustainable developments of ecosystems.This study,with the floodplain along Le'an River and its two branches in Jiangxi Province of China as a case study,aimed to explore the feasibility of estimating concentrations of heavy metal lead(Pb),copper(Cu) and zinc(Zn) within soils using laboratory-based hyperspectral data.Thirty soil samples were collected,and their hyperspectral data,soil organic matters and Pb,Cu and Zn concentrations were measured in the laboratory.The potential relations among hyperspectral data,soil organic matter and Pb,Cu and Zn concentrations were explored and further used to estimate Pb,Cu and Zn concentrations from hyperspectral data with soil organic matter as a bridge.The results showed that the ratio of the first-order derivatives of spectral absorbance at wavelengths 624 and 564 nm could explain 52% of the variation of soil organic matter;the soil organic matter could ex-plain 59%,51% and 50% of the variation of Pb,Cu and Zn concentrations with estimated standard errors of 1.41,48.27 and 45.15 mg·kg-1;and the absolute estimation errors were 8%-56%,12%-118% and 2%-22%,and 50%,67% and 100% of them were less than 25% for Pb,Cu and Zn concentration estimations.We concluded that the laboratory-based hyperspectral data hold potentials in esti-mating concentrations of heavy metal Pb,Cu and Zn in soils.More sampling points or other potential linear and non-linear regression methods should be used for improving the stabilities and accuracies of the estimation models.LIU Yaolin LI Wei WU Guofeng XU Xinguo 2011Geo-Spatial Information Science2011,14,1:7
2Nasal delivery of broadly neutralizing antibodies protects mice from lethal challenge with SARS-CoV-2 delta and omicron variants显示文摘Multiple new variants of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-Co V-2)have constantly emerged,as the delta and omicron variants,which have developed resistance to currently gained neutralizing antibodies.This highlights a critical need to discover new therapeutic agents to overcome the variants mutations.Despite the availability of vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),the use of broadly neutralizing antibodies has been considered as an alternative way for the prevention or treatment of SARS-Co V-2 variants infection.Here,we show that the nasal delivery of two previously characterized broadly neutralizing antibodies(F61 and H121)protected K18-h ACE2 mice against lethal challenge with SARS-Co V-2 variants.The broadly protective efficacy of the F61 or F61/F121 cocktail antibodies was evaluated by lethal challenge with the wild strain(WIV04)and multiple variants,including beta(B.1.351),delta(B.1.617.2),and omicron(B.1.1.529)at 200or 1000 TCID_(50),and the minimum antibody administration doses(5-1.25 mg/kg body weight)were also evaluated with delta and omicron challenge.Fully prophylactic protections were found in all challenged groups with both F61 and F61/H121 combination at the administration dose of 20 mg/kg body weight,and corresponding mice lung viral RNA showed negative,with almost all alveolar septa and cavities remaining normal.Furthermore,low-dose antibody treatment induced significant prophylactic protection against lethal challenge with delta and omicron variants,whereas the F61/H121 combination showed excellent results against omicron infection.Our findings indicated the potential use of broadly neutralizing monoclonal antibodies as prophylactic and therapeutic agent for protection of current emerged SARS-Co V-2 variants infection.Jia Lu Qiangling Yin Rongjuan Pei Qiu Zhang Yuanyuan Qu Yongbing Pan Lina Sun Ding Gao Cuiqin Liang Jingwen Yang Wei Wu Jiandong Li Zongqiang Cui Zejun Wang Xinguo Li Dexin Li Shiwen Wang Kai Duan Wuxiang Guan Mifang Liang Xiaoming Yang 2022Virologica Sinica2022,37,2:4

4Small interfering RNA delivery to the neurons near the amyloid plaques for improved treatment of Alzheimer’s disease显示文摘Gene therapy represents a promising treatment for the Alzheimer’s disease(AD). However,gene delivery specific to brain lesions through systemic administration remains big challenge. In our previous work, we have developed an siRNA nanocomplex able to be specifically delivered to the amyloid plaques through surface modification with both CGN peptide for the blood–brain barrier(BBB)penetration and QSH peptide for β-amyloid binding. But, whether the as-designed nanocomplex could indeed improve the gene accumulation in the impaired neuron cells and ameliorate AD-associated symptoms remains further study. Herein, we prepared the nanocomplexes with an siRNA against β-site amyloid precursor protein-cleaving enzyme 1(BACE1), the rate-limiting enzyme of Aβ production, as the therapeutic siRNA of AD. The nanocomplexes exhibited high distribution in the Aβ deposits-enriched hippocampus, especially in the neurons near the amyloid plaques after intravenous administration. In APP/PS1 transgenic mice, the nanocomplexes down-regulated BACE1 in both mRNA and protein levels,as well as Aβ and amyloid plaques to the level of wild-type mice. Moreover, the nanocomplexes significantly increased the level of synaptophysin and rescued memory loss of the AD transgenic mice without hematological or histological toxicity. 7Effect of Respective Additions of Ga, Zr and Combined Additions of Co, Ga, Zr on Magnetic Properties of Remanence-enhanced Nd_(8.4) Fe_(87.1) B_(4.5) Alloy显示文摘The effect of a partial substitution of Zr, Ga; Co and Ga; Co. Ga and Zr; respectively, for Fe on the structure and magnetic properties of Nd8.4Fe87.1B4.5 alloy prepared by mechanical alloying has been studied in detail. It has been shown that, intrinsic coercivity μ0 Hc and maximum magnetic energy product (BH)max increase for only Zr or Ga-containing samples, which is mainly due to the refinement of soft grains. The combined addition of Co and Ga is less effective for improving μoHc and (BH)max than the respective addition of Co or Ga. which may be due to the formation of CsCl-type CoGa. μoHc and (BH)max for combined Co, Ga. 8Structural and Magnetic Properties of Sm_3(Fe,Ti)_(29) and Sm_3(Fe,Ti)_(29)X_y (X=H, N) Compounds显示文摘The alloy with nominal composition Sm2(Fe0.94Ti0.06)17 is prepared by arc-melting, hydrogenation and nitrogenation processes. The Sm2(Fe0.94Ti0.06)17 alloy has a single phase of Sm3(Fe, Ti)29 with the Nd3(Fe, Ti)29-type structure. The corresponding hydride phase with the same phase structure of the parent alloy was formed after a hydrogen decrepitation (HD) process at 300℃. The hydrogenation at 800℃ mainly shows a HDDR process. The HD and nitrogenation at 500℃ result in increasing the Curie temperature of the alloy by 72℃ and by 158℃ due to lattice expansions, respectively. The anisotropic and isotropic Sm3(Fe. Ti)29Ny magnets are obtained after HD, HDDR and the consequent nitrogenation, respectively. The optimum magnetic properties of Sm3(Fe, Ti)29Ny powders achieved in the above two processes are: (i) Br=0;82 T, iHc=4.48 kA/cm. 9Hard Magnetic Properties of Sm-Fe-C Based Alloys Prepared by Mechanical Alloying显示文摘The structure and magnetic properties of Sm.Fel00-1.5y C0.5y(y=8-20) alloys prepared by mechanical alloying (MA) from Sm, Fe and graphite have been investigated systematically. In order to improve hard magnetic properties of the alloys prepared by mechanical alloying, a new method consisting of re-milling and re-annealing was developed. After being re-milled and re-annealed, the Curie temperature TC of the Sm-Fe-C alloys changes. The TC of 2:17 phase increases, whereas the TC of 2.14.1 phase decreases. After being re-annealed at low temperatures, the grain sizes of hard phases are smaller than those in the alloys annealed at high temperatures. 13Identification of serum metabolites enhancing inflammatory responses in COVID-19显示文摘Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),is characterized by a strong production of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF and IL-6,which underlie the severity of the disease.However,the molecular mechanisms responsible for such a strong immune response remains unclear.Here,utilizing targeted tandem mass spectrometry to analyze serum metabolome and lipidome in COVID-19 patients at different temporal stages,we identified that 611 metabolites(of 1,039)were significantly altered in COVID-19 patients.Among them,two metabolites,agmatine and putrescine,were prominently elevated in the serum of patients;and 2-quinolinecarboxylate was changed in a biphasic manner,elevated during early COVID-19 infection but levelled off.When tested in mouse embryonic fibroblasts(MEFs)and macrophages,these 3 metabolites were found to activate the NF-κB pathway that plays a pivotal role in governing cytokine production.Importantly,these metabolites were each able to cause strong increase of TNF and IL-6 levels when administered to wildtype mice,but not in the mice lacking NF-κB.Intriguingly,these metabolites have little effects on the activation of interferon regulatory factors(IRFs)for the production of type I interferons(IFNs)for antiviral defenses.These data suggest that circulating metabolites resulting from COVID-19 infection may act as effectors to elicit the peculiar systemic inflammatory responses,exhibiting severely strong proinflammatory cytokine production with limited induction of the interferons.Our study may provide a rationale for development of drugs to alleviate inflammation in COVID-19 patients.Chen-Song Zhang Bingchang Zhang Mengqi Li Xiaoyan Wei Kai Gong Zhiyong Li Xiangyang Yao Jianfeng Wu Cixiong Zhang Mingxia Zhu Lei Zhang Xiufeng Sun Yi-Hong Zhan Zhengye Jiang Wenpeng Zhao Wei Zhong Xinguo Zhuang Dawang Zhou Hai-Long Piao Sheng-Cai Lin Zhanxiang Wang 2022Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,10:1
