1Staggered Grid Scheme for the FFT-Based Methods显示文摘A staggered grid scheme is proposed to reduce both the total memory requirement and the CPU time of generating the corrected near matrix in the FFT- based methods. Two sets of Cartesian grids are used to project the source points and the field points, respectively. The proposed method does not lower the efficiency of computing far matrix-vector products, compared with the traditional uniform Cartesian grid scheme. 2A prospective study (SCOPE) comparing the cardiometabolic and respiratory effects of air pollution exposure on healthy and pre-diabetic individuals显示文摘Air pollution is known to be a major risk factor for cardiopulmonary disease, but this is unclear for cardiometabolic disease (e.g.diabetes). This is of considerable public health importance, given the nationwide epidemic of diabetes, accompanied by severe air pollution, in China. The evidence so far remained inadequate to answer questions of whether individuals with cardiometabolic dysfunctions are susceptible to air pollution and whether air pollution exacerbates diabetes development via certain biological pathways. In this manuscript, we summarize the results and limitations of studies exploring these two topics and elaborate our design of a prospective panel study (SCOPE) as a solution. We assessed and compared the health effect of air pollution among pre-diabetic individuals and matched healthy controls through four repeated clinical visits over 1 year. Comprehensive evaluation was made to both health endpoints and exposure. The primary biomarkers were assessed to reveal the impact on multiple biological pathways, including glycolipid metabolism and insulin resistance, endothelial function, and inflammation. 18Modification of adipose mesenchymal stem cells-derived small extracellular vesicles with fibrin-targeting peptide CREKA for enhanced bone repair显示文摘The process of bone repair is highly regulated by a large number of bioactive factors.Thus,a“cocktail”of bioactive factors supplemented to the defect sites is desirable for bone repair.In this regard,small extracellular vesicles(sEVs)derived from mesenchymal stem cells hold great potential in tissue repair.Nevertheless,the poor homing and retention of sEVs greatly limited their possible clinical application.In the present work,DMPE-PEG-CREKA was inserted into the membrane of sEVs released from adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells to obtain CREKA functionalized sEVs(CREKA-sEVs),which could target fibrin to accumulate and retain in bone defects.Our results showed that CREKA-sEVs,like sEVs,promoted the osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs,the angiogenic property of HUVECs,and modulated the polarization of macrophages in vitro.Furthermore,due to the improved fibrin-binding and retention capacity of CREKA-sEVs,they enhanced the bone repair substantially in the rat femoral defect model.This study provided a new strategy to improve the therapeutic efficiency of sEVs and showed that CREKA-sEVs had great application value in bone tissue repair.Qi Wu Xiaoling Fu Xian Li Jing Li Weiju Han Yingjun Wang 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,2:1
