2Reservoir-induced landslides and risk control in Three Gorges Project on Yangtze River,China显示文摘The Three Gorges region in China was basically a geohazard-prone area prior to construction of the Three Gorges Reservoir(TGR).After construction of the TGR,the water level was raised from 70 m to 175 m above sea level(ASL).and annual reservoir regulation has caused a 30-m water level difference after impoundment of the TGR since September 2008.This paper first presents the spatiotemporal distribution of landslides in six periods of 175 m ASL trial impoundments from 2008 to 2014.The results show that the number of landslides sharply decreased from 273 at the initial stage to less than ten at the second stage of impoundment.Based on this,the reservoir-induced landslides in the TGR region can be roughly classified into five failure patterns,i.e.accumulation landslide,dip-slope landslide,reversed bedding landslide,rockfall,and karst breccia landslide.The accumulation landslides and dip-slope landslides account for more than 90%.Taking the Shuping accumulation landslide(a sliding mass volume of 20.7 × 10~6 m^3) in Zigui County and the Outang dip-slope landslide(a sliding mass volume of about 90 × 10~6 m^3) in Fengjie County as two typical cases,the mechanisms of reactivation of the two landslides are analyzed.The monitoring data and factor of safety(FOS) calculation show that the accumulation landslide is dominated by water level variation in the reservoir as most part of the mass body is under 175 m ASL,and the dip-slope landslide is controlled by the coupling effect of reservoir water level variation and precipitation as an extensive recharge area of rainfall from the rear and the front mass is below 175 m ASL.The characteristics of landslide-induced impulsive wave hazards after and before reservoir impoundment are studied,and the probability of occurrence of a landslide-induced impulsive wave hazard has increased in the reservoir region.Simulation results of the Ganjingzi landslide in Wushan County indicate the strong relationship between landslide-induced surge and water variation with high potential risk to shipping and residential areas.Regarding reservoir regulation in TGR when using a single index,i.e.1-d water level variation,water resources are not well utilized,and there is also potential risk of disasters since 2008.In addition,various indices such as 1-d.5-d,and 10-d water level variations are proposed for reservoir regulation.Finally,taking reservoir-induced landslides in June2015 for example,the feasibility of the optimizing indices of water level variations is verified.Yueping Yin Bolin Huang Wenpei Wang Yunjie Wei Xiaohan Ma Fei Ma Changjun Zhao 2016Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2016,8,5:45

4Effects of Early- and Late-Sowing on Starch Accumulation and Associated Enzyme Activities During Grain Filling Stage in Rice显示文摘The environmental temperature occurring during the grain filling stage is an important factoraffecting starch synthesis and accumulation in rice. We investigated starch accumulation, amylaseactivity and starch granule size distribution in two low-amylose japonica rice varieties, Nanjing 9108 andFujing 1606, grown in the field at different filling temperatures by manipulating sowing date. The two ricevarieties exhibited similar performances between two sowing dates. Total starch, amylose andamylopectin contents were lower at the early-filling stage of T1 treatment (Early-sowing) compared withthose at the same stage in T2 treatment (Late-sowing). In contrast, at the late-filling stage, when fieldtemperatures were generally decreasing, total starch and amylopectin contents in T1 were highercompared to those in T2. The ideal temperature for strong activity of ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylaseand soluble starch synthase was about 22℃. A higher temperature from the heading to maturity stagesin T1 increased the activities of starch branching enzyme and suppressed the activities of granule boundstarch synthetase and starch debranching enzyme. We found that rice produced larger-sized starchgranules under the T1 treatment. 12SARS-CoV-2 spike-specific TFH cells exhibit unique responses in infected and vaccinated individuals显示文摘Long-term humoral immunity to SARS-CoV-2 is essential for preventing reinfection. The production of neutralizing antibody (nAb)and B cell differentiation are tightly regulated by T follicular help (T_(FH)) cells. However, the longevity and functional role of T_(FH) cellsubsets in COVID-19 convalescents and vaccine recipients remain poorly defined. Here, we show that SARS-CoV-2 infection andinactivated vaccine elicited both spike-specific CXCR3^(+) T_(FH) cell and CXCR3^(-) T_(FH) cell responses, which showed distinct responsepatterns. Spike- specific CXCR3^(+) T_(FH) cells exhibit a dominant and more durable response than CXCR3^(-) T_(FH) cells that positivelycorrelated with antibody responses. A third booster dose preferentially expands the spike-specific CXCR3^(+) T_(FH) cell subset inducedby two doses of inactivated vaccine, contributing to antibody maturation and potency. Functionally, spike-specific CXCR3^(+) T_(FH) cellshave a greater ability to induce spike-specific antibody secreting cells (ASCs) differentiation compared to spike-specific CXCR3^(-) T_(FH)cells. In conclusion, the persistent and functional role of spike-specific CXCR3^(+) T_(FH) cells following SARS-CoV-2 infection andvaccination may play an important role in antibody maintenance and recall response, thereby conferring long-term protection. 13Superior multiphase interfaces in AgCuTe-based composite with significantly enhanced thermoelectric properties显示文摘It is common sense that a phase interface(or grain boundary)could be used to scatter phonons in thermoelectric(TE)materials,resulting in low thermal conductivity(k).However,a large number of impurity phases are always so harmful to the transport of carriers that poor TE performance is obtained.Here,we demonstrate that numerous superior multiphase(AgCuTe,Ag_(−2)Te,copper telluride(Cu_(2)Te and Cu_(2−x)Te),and nickel telluride(NiTe))interfaces with simultaneous strong phonon scattering and weak electron scattering could be realized in AgCuTe-based TE materials.Owing to the similar chemical bonds in these phases,the depletion region at phase interfaces,which acts as carrier scattering centers,could be ignored.Therefore,the power factor(PF)is obviously enhanced from~609 to~832μW·m^(−1)·K^(−2),and k is simultaneously decreased from~0.52 to~0.43 W·m^(−1)·K^(−1) at 636 K.Finally,a peak figure of merit(zT)of~1.23 at 636 K and an average zT(zTavg)of~1.12 in the temperature range of 523–623 K are achieved,which are one of the best values among the AgCuTe-based TE materials.This study could provide new guidance to enhance the performance by designing superior multiphase interfaces in the TE materials.Wenpei Li Zhonghai Yu Chengyan Liu Ying Peng Baoquan Feng Jie Gao Guojing Wu Xiaobo Bai Junliang Chen Xiaoyang Wang Lei Miao 2023Journal of Advanced Ceramics2023,12,8:0
14Geostructures, dynamics and risk mitigation of high-altitude and long- runout rockslides显示文摘Long-runout rockslides at high altitude could cause disaster chain in river basins and destroy towns and major infrasturctures.This paper firstly explores the initiation mechanism of high-altitude and long-runout rockslides.Two types of sliding-prone geostructure models,i.e.the fault control type in orogenic belt and the fold control type in platform area,are proposed.Then,large-scale experimental apparatus and associated numerical simulations are conducted to understanding the chain-style dynamics of rockslide-debris avalanche-debris flow.The results reveal the fragmentation effects,the rheological behaviors and the boundary layer effect of long-runout avalanche-debris flow.The dynamic character-istics of quasi-static-transition-inertia state and solid-liquid coupling in rapid movement of rockslide-debris avalanche-debris flow are investigated.Finally,the risk mitigation strategy of the non-structure and structure for resilient energy dissipation are illustrated for initiation,transition and deposition zones.The structural prevention and mitigation methods have been successfully applied to the high-altitude and long-runout rockslides in Zhouqu and Maoxian of the Wenchuan earthquake zone,as well as the other major geohazards in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and its adjacent areas.Yueping Yin Bin Li Yang Gao Wenpei Wang Shilin Zhang Nan Zhang 2023Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2023,15,1:0
