Fouling in offshore areas southeast of the Zhujiang(Pearl)River Delta, the northern South China Sea显示文摘In order to understand the type and extent of marine fouling in offshore areas southeast of the Zhujiang (Pearl) River delta, within the period form May 1986 to June 1987, two biological buoys were deployed at water depths of 95 m and 113 m located in 114 km and 160 km off the coast of Hong Kong, respectively. Moreover, the fouling community of a Marex hydrological buoy located in 115 m depth water 172 km off Hong Kong was also surveyed. The results show that a total of 78 species were collected and identified. The panels exposed for 3 months were mainly dominated by stalked barnacles Conchoderma hunteri and Lepas anatifera and hydroids Orthopyxis sp. As for the buoys, including the subsurface buoy, and their mooring systems exposed for 6 and 12 months, respectively, some hard foulers such as common oysters, pearl oysters, acorn barnacles and bryozoans were also found. The compositions of fouling communities also varied greatly with depth.Yan Tao, Yan Wenxia, Dong Yu, Liang Guanhe, Yan Yan, Wang Huajie South China Sea Institute of Oceanology,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Guangzhou 510301,China. 2003Acta Oceanologica Sinica2003,22,2:9
Oral bacteria colonize and compete with gut microbiota in gnotobiotic mice显示文摘The oral microbiota is associated with oral diseases and digestive systemic diseases.Nevertheless, the causal relationship between them has not been completely elucidated, and colonisation of the gut by oral bacteria is not clear due to the limitations of existing research models. The aim of this study was to develop a human oral microbiota-associated (HOMA) mouse model and to investigate the ecological invasion into the gut.By transplanting human saliva into germ-free (GF) mice,a HOMA mouse model was first constructed.16S rRNA gene sequencing was used to reveal the biogeography of oral bacteria along the cephalocaudal axis of the digestive tract. In the HOMA mice,84.78% of the detected genus-level taxa were specific to the donor.Principal component analysis (PCA) revealed that the donor oral microbiota clustered with those of the HOMA mice and were distinct from those of specific pathogen-free (SPF) mice.In HOMA mice,OTU counts decreased from the stomach and small intestine to the distal gut.The distal gut was dominated by Streptococcus,Veillonella,Haemophilus,Fusobacterium,Trichococcus and Actinomyces.HOMA mice and human microbiota-associated (HMA) mice along with the GF mice were then cohoused.Microbial communities of cohoused mice clustered together and were significantly separated from those of HOMA mice and HMA mice. The Source Tracker analysis and network analysis revealed more significant ecological invasion from oral bacteria in the small intestines, compared to the distal gut,of cohoused mice.In conclusion,a HOMA mouse model was successfully established.By overcoming the physical and microbial barrier, oral bacteria colonised the gut and profiled the gut microbiota, especially in the small intestine.Bolei Li Yang Ge Lei Cheng Benhua Zeng Jinzhao Yu Xian Peng Jianhua Zhao Wenxia Li Biao Ren Mingyun Li Hong Wei Xuedong Zhou 2019International Journal of Oral Science2019,11,3:7
The FGOALS climate system model as a modeling tool for supporting climate sciences:An overview显示文摘Climate system models are useful tools for understanding the interactions among the components of the climate system and predicting/projecting future climate change. The development of climate models has been a central focus of the State Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences(LASG/IAP) since the establishment of the laboratory in 1985. In China, many pioneering component models and fully coupled models of the climate system have been developed by LASG/IAP. The fully coupled climate system developed in the recent decade is named FGOALS(Flexible Global Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System Model). In this paper, an application-oriented review of the LASG/IAP FGOALS model is presented. The improved model performances are demonstrated in the context of cloud-radiation processes, Asian monsoon, ENSO phenomena, Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation(AMOC) and sea ice. The FGOALS model has contributed to both CMIP5(Coupled Model Intercomparison Project-phase 5) and IPCC(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) AR5(the Fifth Assessment Report). The release of FGOALS data has supported the publication of nearly 500 papers around the world. The results of FGOALS are cited ~106 times in the IPCC WG1(Working Group 1) AR5. In addition to the traditional long-term simulations and projections, near-term decadal climate prediction is a new set of CMIP experiment, progress of LAGS/IAP in the development of nearterm decadal prediction system is reviewed. The FGOALS model has supported many Chinese national-level research projects and contributed to the national climate change assessment report. The crucial role of FGOALS as a modeling tool for supporting climate sciences is highlighted by demonstrating the model's performances in the simulation of the evolution of Earth's climate from the past to the future.TianJun Zhou Bin Wang YongQiang Yu YiMin Liu WeiPeng Zheng LiJuan Li Bo Wu PengFei Lin Zhun Guo WenMin Man Qing Bao AnMin Duan HaiLong Liu XiaoLong Chen Bian He JianDong Li LiWei Zou XiaoCong Wang LiXia Zhang Yong Sun WenXia Zhang 2018Earth and Planetary Physics2018,2,4:6
Efficient base editing in G/C-rich regions to model androgen insensitivity syndrome显示文摘Dear Editor, Most disease-associated genomic mutations are base substitutions and approximately half of pathogenic human single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs)are related to C-to-T substitutions in the ClinVar database.Base editors (BEs),which combine Casg-DIOA nickase and APOBEC (apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme, catalytic polypeptide-like)or AID (activation-induced deaminase)cytidine deaminase family members, have been successfully applied to mediate C-to-T conversion in vitro and in vivo, providing a powerful tool to model or repair diseaserelated human SNPs.Jianan Li Zhen Liu Shisheng Huang Xiao Wang Guanglei Li Yuting Xu Wenxia Yu Shanshan Chen Yu Zhang Hanhui Ma Zunfu Ke Jia Chen Qiang Sun Xingxu Huang 2019Cell Research2019,29,2:3
Change features of time-series climate variables from 1962 to 2016 in Inner Mongolia,China显示文摘Detecting change features of climate variables in arid/semi-arid areas is essential for understanding related climate change patterns and the driving and evolution mechanism between climate and arid/semi-arid ecosystems. This paper takes Inner Mongolia of China,a unique arid/semi-arid ecosystem,as the study area.We first detected trend features of climate variables using the linear trend analysis method and then detected their trend-shift features using the breaks for additive seasonal and trend method based on the time-series of monthly precipitation and monthly mean temperature datasets from 1962 to 2016.We analyzed the different change features of precipitation and temperature on a regional scale and in different ecological zones to discover the spatial heterogeneity of change features. The results showed that Inner Mongolia has become warmer-wetter during the past 54 years. The regional annual mean temperature increased 0.4°C per decade with a change rate of 56.2%.The regional annual precipitation increased 0.07 mm per decade with a slightly change rate of about 1.7%,but the trend was not statistically significant. The warmer trend was contributed by the same positive trend in each season, while the wetter trend was contributed by the negative trend of the summer precipitation and the positive trend of the other three seasons. The regional monthly precipitation series had a trend-shift pattern with a structural breakpoint in the year 1999,while the regional monthly mean temperature series showed an increasing trend without a periodical trend-shift.After the year 2000,the warmer-wetter trend of the climate in Inner Mongolia was accelerated. The late 20th century was a key period, because the acceleration of the wetter trend in some local zones(I and II)and the alleviation of the warmer trend in some local zones(Ⅶ,Ⅷand IX)occurred simultaneously. Moreover, the change features had a strong spatial heterogeneity, the southeastern and southwestern of Inner Mongolia went through a warmer-drier trend compared with the other areas. The spatio-temporal heterogeneity of the climate change features is a necessary background for various types of research, such as regional climate change, the evolution of arid/semi-arid ecosystems, and the interaction mechanisms between climate and arid/semi-arid ecosystems based on earth-system models in Inner Mongolia.XU Lili YU Guangming ZHANG Wenjie TU Zhenfa TAN Wenxia 2020Journal of Arid Land2020,12,1:2
Effect of boron addition on the MoO_3/CeO_2–Al_2O_3 catalyst in the sulfur-resistant methanation显示文摘The effect of boron on the performance of MoO_3/CeO_2–Al_2O_3 catalysts, which were prepared with impregnation method, was investigated. The catalysts were characterized with N_2 adsorption–desorption, XRD, H_2-TPR, and NH_3-TPD, and were tested in sulfur-resistant methanation. The results indicated that the MoO_3/CeO_2–Al_2O_3 catalysts modified by boron showed higher catalytic performance in sulfur-resistant methanation. The CO conversion increased from 47% to 62% with 0.5 wt% boron content. When the content of boron was under 0.5 wt%, the results suggested there was an increase in the amorphous form of MoO_3 caused by the generation of weak and intermediate acid sites, which had weakened the interaction between the active components and supports. While, the catalyst added 2.0 wt% boron showed the strong acid sites and the largest crystalline size resulting in the uneven distribution of ceria.Baowei Wang Wenxia Yu Weihan Wang Zhenhua Li Yan Xu Xinbin Ma 2018Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2018,26,3:2
An ultrasound-triggered cation chelation and reassembly route to one-dimensional Ni-rich cathode material enabling fast charging and stable cycling of Li-ion batteries显示文摘Ni-rich oxides,LiNixMnyCozO2(NMC),are among leading candidates for cathode materials in Li-ion batteries. However, they are mostly fabricated by coprecipitation approach under complex conditions, which usually produces large secondary particles composed of aggregated primary particles.Undesirable cation mixing and crack propagation upon cycling block ion and electron transport, result in fast capacity fading and poor rate capability.Herein,we present an ultrasound-triggered cation chelation and reassembly route for synthesizing one-dimensional precursor with homogeneous element distribution at the atomic level. This process is accomplished by the synergistic combination of ultrasound and surfactant, which can disperse reactants and remove hydration shells surrounding cations so as to accelerate chelating reaction, and then separate and assemble chelates into one dimensional structure. The whole synthesis time is only 20 min(8.9 min of ultrasonic working time)in an open vessel under natural ambient conditions.One-dimensional LiNi0.6Mn0.2Co0.2O2 has a high reversible capacity(184 mAh·g^−1 at 0.1 C)and long cycling stability(95.1%and 82.4%capacity retention for 100 and 1000 cycles, respectively). The short charging time of 76 s is realized at super high current rate of 20 C,which is very important to improve the competitiveness of electric vehicles relative to fuel vehicles. Our synthetic approach can provide a general strategy for the growth of mixed-metal-EDTA chelate precursors by changing the feeding ratio of Ni2+,Mn2+and Co2+cations in reaction for fabricating NMC cathode materials with other compositions.Yongjian Lai Zhaojie Li Wenxia Zhao Xiaoning Cheng Shuo Xu Xiao Yu Yong Liu 2020Nano Research2020,13,12:2
Preparation of hydrophobic transparent paper via using polydimethylsiloxane as transparent agent显示文摘Transparent paper with good hydrophobicity and flexibility was expected to act as an alternative substrate in fabrication of flexible electronics. However, conventional paper made of cellulose fibers was opaque and hydrophilic without undergoing special processing.Herein, cellulose fiber paper was treated by impregnating with hydrolyzed tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS)followed by coating with hydrophobic polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)to prepare hydrophobic transparent pa-per.The results showed that silica nanoparticles produced by the TEOS hydrolysis improved the paper transparency to some extent, increased the paper thermal stability, but still remained the hydrophilicity of paper. After the paper was further coated with the PDMS and the PDMS was consolidated, the paper became clearly transparent and hydrophobic. The processed paper had a transmittance of more than 90%at 550 nm.The water contact angle of the paper reached about 110°.This work provided a new approach for the fabrication of hydrophobic transparent paper with conventional cellulose fiber paper.Feixiang Guan Zhaoping Song Furong Xin Huili Wang Dehai Yu Guodong Li Wenxia Liu 2020Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts2020,5,1:1
Nanoparticle-stabilized Alkenyl Succinic Anhydride(ASA)Emulsions:A Review显示文摘Alkenyl succinic anhydride(ASA) is a popular paper-sizing agent that is generally added to papermaking systems as an aqueous emulsion. Herein, we reviewed the recent work focusing on ASA emulsions stabilized by solid particles. Solid particle-stabilized ASA emulsions generally possess high ASA content and exhibit good sizing performance. The particles that have been used to stabilize ASA emulsions typically include montmorillonite, laponite, alumina, TiO_2, Fe_3O_4, polyaluminum sulfate(PAS), and cellulose nanocrystals(CNCs). Montmorillonite is the first extensively studied particle stabilizer for ASA emulsions. Laponite is undoubtedly the most competent particle stabilizer for preparing ASA emulsions with high sizing efficiency. Montmorillonite and laponite can be used individually as stabilizers after modification or as co-stabilizers with other particles or polymers. TiO_2, alumina, PAS, and CNCs are commonly used as stabilizers either individually or with other particles.WenXia Liu HuiLi Wang GuoDong Li DeHai Yu ZhaoPing Song 2017Paper And Biomaterials2017,2,1:1

Understanding and Attribution of Extreme Heat and Drought Events in 2022: Current Situation and Future Challenges显示文摘Extreme weather events and their consequential impacts have been a key feature of the climate in recent years in many parts of the world, with many partly attributed to ongoing global-scale warming. The past year,2022,has been no exception, with further records being broken. The year was marked by unprecedented heatwaves and droughts with highly unusual spatial extent, duration and intensity, with one measure indicating an aggregated and overall intensity of extreme heat events worldwide not seen since at least 1950.The extreme drought measured by surface soil moisture covered 47.3%of global land areas in 2022,which was the second most widespread year since 1980.Here,we examine notable events of the year in five major regions of the world:China’s Yangtze River region, western Europe, the western U.S.,the Horn of Africa and central South America. For each event,we review the potential roles of circulation, oceanic forcing(especially the“triple-dip”La Niña)and anthropogenic climate change, with an aim of understanding the extreme events in 2022 from a global perspective. This will serve as a reference for mechanism understanding, prediction and attribution of extreme events.Lixia ZHANG Xiaojing YU Tianjun ZHOU Wenxia ZHANG Shuai HU Robin CLARK 2023Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2023,40,11:0
The Super-large Ensemble Experiments of CAS FGOALS-g3显示文摘A super-large ensemble simulation dataset with 110 members has been produced by the fully coupled model FGOALS-g3 developed by researchers at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences. This is the first dataset of large ensemble simulations with a climate system model developed by a Chinese modeling center. The simulation has the largest realizations up to now worldwide in terms of single-model initial-condition large ensembles. Each member includes a historical experiment(1850-2014)and an experiment(2015-99)under the very high greenhouse gas emissions Shared Socioeconomic Pathway scenario(SSP5-8.5).The dataset includes monthly and daily temperature, precipitation, and other variables, requiring storage of 275 TB.Additionally, the surface air temperature(SAT)and land precipitation simulated by the FGOALS-g3 super-large ensemble have been validated and projected. The ensemble can capture the response of SAT and land precipitation to external forcings well, and the internal variabilities can be quantified. The availability of more than 100 realizations will help researchers to study rare events and improve the understanding of the impact of internal variability on forced climate changes.Pengfei LIN Bowen ZHAO Jilin WEI Hailong LIU Wenxia ZHANG Xiaolong CHEN Jie JIANG Mengrong DING Wenmin MAN Jinrong JIANG Xu ZHANG Yuewen DING Wenrong BAI Chenyang JIN Zipeng YU Yiwen LI Weipeng ZHENG Tianjun ZHOU 2022Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2022,39,10:0
Expert consensus on digital guided therapy for endodontic diseases显示文摘Digital guided therapy(DGT)has been advocated as a contemporary computer-aided technique for treating endodontic diseases in recent decades. The concept of DGT for endodontic diseases is categorized into static guided endodontics(SGE),necessitating a meticulously designed template, and dynamic guided endodontics(DGE),which utilizes an optical triangulation tracking system.Based on cone-beam computed tomography(CBCT)images superimposed with or without oral scan(OS)data,a virtual template is crafted through software and subsequently translated into a 3-dimensional(3D)printing for SGE,while the system guides the drilling path with a real-time navigation in DGE.DGT was reported to resolve a series of challenging endodontic cases, including teeth with pulp obliteration, teeth with anatomical abnormalities, teeth requiring retreatment, posterior teeth needing endodontic microsurgery, and tooth autotransplantation.Case reports and basic researches all demonstrate that DGT stand as a precise,time-saving,and minimally invasive approach in contrast to conventional freehand method. This expert consensus mainly introduces the case selection, general workflow, evaluation, and impact factor of DGT,which could provide an alternative working strategy in endodontic treatment.Xi Wei Yu Du Xuedong Zhou Lin Yue Qing Yu Benxiang Hou Zhi Chen Jingping Liang Wenxia Chen Lihong Qiu Xiangya Huang Liuyan Meng Dingming Huang Xiaoyan Wang Yu Tian Zisheng Tang Qi Zhang Leiying Miao Jin Zhao Deqin Yang Jian Yang Junqi Ling 2023International Journal of Oral Science2023,15,4:0
Mouse model for pangolin-origin coronavirus GX/P2V/2017 infection and cross-protection from COVID-19 ZF2001 subunit vaccine显示文摘Many severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)–related coronaviruses have been discovered, constituting potential threats to human health. However,it remains unclear whether the currently available vaccines are effective against these coronaviruses. Here,we constructed a wild-type mouse model to evaluate pathogenicity of the SARS-CoV-2-related pangolin coronavirus GX/P2V/2017 and neutralization efficacy of the approved tandemrepeat SARS-CoV-2 spike receptor-binding domain(RBD)vaccine ZF2001.We found that ZF2001-induced cross-reactive and cross-neutralizing antibodies against GX/P2V/2017,and the vaccination alleviated the pathological lung damage caused by GX/P2V/2017 in mice. These results indicate that RBD may work as a promising candidate for pan-coronavirus vaccine development.Xiao Qu Yunfei Jia Na Jia Huahao Fan Anqi Zheng Luoyuan Xia Zhenfei Wang Di Tian Sheng Niu Yu Hu Wenxia Tian Zhihai Chen Yigang Tong Yuwei Gao Wuchun Cao Qihui Wang George Fu Gao 2023hLife2023,1,1:0
