2Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. 3Genomic analyses of metal resistance genes in three plant growth promoting bacteria of legume plants in Northwest mine tailings, China显示文摘To better understand the diversity of metal resistance genetic determinant from microbes that survived at metal tailings in northwest of China, a highly elevated level of heavy metal containing region, genomic analyses was conducted using genome sequence of three native metal-resistant plant growth promoting bacteria(PGPB). It shows that: Mesorhizobium amorphae CCNWGS0123 contains metal transporters from P-type ATPase, CDF(Cation Diffusion Facilitator), Hup E/Ure J and CHR(chromate ion transporter) family involved in copper, zinc, nickel as well as chromate resistance and homeostasis. Meanwhile, the putative Cop A/Cue O system is expected to mediate copper resistance in Sinorhizobium meliloti CCNWSX0020 while Znt A transporter, assisted with putative Czc D, determines zinc tolerance in Agrobacterium tumefaciens CCNWGS0286. 6Differentially Expressed microRNAs as Potential Markers for Vital Reaction of Burned Skin显示文摘The identification of antemortem burns and postmortem burns is essential in forensic practice.In this study,microRNA(miRNA)microarray analysis was conducted to identify differentially expressed miRNAs in the skin of an experimental burn model.Microarray analysis revealed 24 differentially expressed miRNAs in antemortem burned mice skin,with 19 miRNAs significantly upregulated and 5 downregulated.Based on the intersection predicted using three databases(Targetscan,microRNA.org,and PITA),293 potential miRNA targets were identified.These dysregulated miRNAs and their predicted targets were further analyzed using the Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes databases.Several functional categories and signaling pathways were enriched,including the“fc epsilon ri signaling pathway,”“endometrial cancer,”and“mTOR signaling pathway.”Expression patterns of 10 differentially expressed miRNAs were verified by reverse transcription‑quantitative polymerase chain reaction in mice skins.The results agreed with the results of microarray analysis.These findings suggest that differentially expressed miRNAs revealed by microarray are potential markers for forensic molecular diagnosis of antemortem burns.Hao‑Pin Lyu Ming Cheng Jin‑Cen Liu Ming‑Yuan Ye Di Xu Jie‑Tao He Xiao‑Li Xie Qi Wang 2018Journal of Forensic Science and Medicine2018,4,3:2

8Removal of toxic metal ions using chitosan coated carbon nanotube composites for supercapacitors显示文摘Environmental pollution and energy crisis are two major global challenges to human beings.Recovering energy from wastewater is considered to be one of the effective approaches to address these two issues synchronously.As the main pollutants in wastewater,toxic heavy metal ions are the potential candidates for energy storage devices with pseudocapacitive behaviors.In this study,toxic metal ions of Cr(VI)and Cu(II)are removed efficiently by chitosan coated oxygen-containing functional carbon nanotubes,and the corresponding equilibrium adsorption capacity is 142.1 and 123.7 mg g^(-1).Followed by carbonization of metal ions-adsorbed adsorbents,Cu-and Cr N-loaded carbon composites can be obtained.Electrochemical measurements show that the supercapacitor electrodes based on Cu-and Cr N-loaded carbon composites have specific capacitance of 144.9 and 114.9 F g^(-1)at2 m V s^(-1),with superior electrochemical properties to pure chitosan coated carbon nanotubes after carbonization.This work demonstrates a new strategy for the resource-utilization of other heavy metal ions for energy devices,and also provides a new way to turn environmental pollutants into clean energy.Pin Hao Xiaoye Ma Junfeng Xie Fengcai Lei Liyi Li Wenqian Zhu Xin Cheng Guanwei Cui Bo Tang 2018Science China Chemistry2018,61,7:2

10The application of proton spectrometers at the SG-III facility for ICF implosion areal density diagnostics显示文摘Charged particle diagnostics is one of the required techniques for implosion areal density diagnostics at the SG-III facility.Several proton spectrometers are under development, and some preliminary areal density diagnostics have been carried out. The response of the key detector, CR39, to charged particles was investigated in detail. A new track profile simulation code based on a semi-empirical model was developed. The energy response of the CR39 detector was calibrated with the accelerator protons and alphas from a241 Am source. A proton spectrometer based on the filtered CR39 detector was developed, and D–D primary proton measurements were implemented. A step range filter spectrometer was developed,and preliminary areal density diagnostics was carried out. A wedged range filter spectrometer array made of Si with a higher resolution was designed and developed at the SG-III facility. A particle response simulation code by the Monte Carlo method and a spectra unfolding code were developed. 12Potential Antiviral Target for SARS-CoV-2:A Key Early Responsive Kinase during Viral Entry显示文摘Currently,there is no effective antiviral medication for coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)and the knowledge on the potential therapeutic target is in great need.Guided by a time-course transmission electron microscope(TEM)imaging,we analyzed early phosphorylation dynamics within the first 15 min during severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)viral entry.Based on alterations in the phosphorylation events,we found that kinase activities such as protein kinase C(PKC),interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase 4(IRAK4),MAP/microtubule affinity-regulating kinase 3(MARK3),and TANK-binding kinase 1(TBK1)were affected within 15 min of infection.Application of the corresponding kinase inhibitors of PKC,IRAK4,and p38 showed significant inhibition of SARS-CoV-2 replication.Additionally,proinflammatory cytokine production was reduced by applying PKC and p38 inhibitors.By an acquisition of a combined image data using positiveand negative-sense RNA probes,as well as pseudovirus entry assay,we demonstrated that PKC contributed to viral entry into the host cell,and therefore,could be a potential COVID-19 therapeutic target.Siwen Liu Lin Zhu Guangshan Xie Bobo Wing-Yee Mok Zhu Yang Shaofeng Deng Siu-Ying Lau Pin Chen Pui Wang Honglin Chen Zongwei Cai 2022CCS Chemistry2022,4,1:1

16The COVID-19 Pandemic and Mental Health Concerns on Twitter in the United States显示文摘Background.During the COVID-19 pandemic,mental health concerns(such as fear and loneliness)have been actively discussed on social media.We aim to examine mental health discussions on Twitter during the COVID-19 pandemic in the US and infer the demographic composition of Twitter users who had mental health concerns.Methods.COVID-19-related tweets from March 5th,2020,to January 31st,2021,were collected through Twitter streaming API using keywords(i.e.,“corona,”“covid19,”and“covid”).By further filtering using keywords(i.e.,“depress,”“failure,”and“hopeless”),we extracted mental health-related tweets from the US.Topic modeling using the Latent Dirichlet Allocation model was conducted to monitor users’discussions surrounding mental health concerns.Deep learning algorithms were performed to infer the demographic composition of Twitter users who had mental health concerns during the pandemic.Results.We observed a positive correlation between mental health concerns on Twitter and the COVID-19 pandemic in the US.Topic modeling showed that“stay-at-home,”“death poll,”and“politics and policy”were the most popular topics in COVID-19 mental health tweets.Among Twitter users who had mental health concerns during the pandemic,Males,White,and 30-49 age group people were more likely to express mental health concerns.In addition,Twitter users from the east and west coast had more mental health concerns.Conclusions.The COVID-19 pandemic has a significant impact on mental health concerns on Twitter in the US.Certain groups of people(such as Males and White)were more likely to have mental health concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic.Senqi Zhang Li Sun Daiwei Zhang Pin Li Yue Liu Ajay Anand Zidian Xie Dongmei Li 2022Health Data Science2022,,1:1
17A comparative study on imaging parameters of Chevron combined with Akin osteotomy and Scarf combined with Akin osteotomy for the correction of hallux valgus in patients at different ages显示文摘Objective:To study the imaging parameters of Chevron combined with Akin and Scarf combined with Akin for the correction of hallux valgus in patients of different ages.Methods:Eighty patients(152 feet)with hallux valgus who underwent Chevron combined with Akin and Scarf combined with Akin in our hospital were randomly selected.The patients were divided into young and middle-aged groups.Measure the hallux valgus angles(HVA),distal metatarsal articular angle(DMAA)and intermetatarsal angles(IMA)with professional X-ray measurement software and then reseach the effect of two the operation methods.Results:Young group:Chevron combined with Akin and Scarf combined with Akin significantly improved HVA and IMA,the difference had statistical significance(P<0.05),but the improvement effect of the two groups was similar,and the difference had no statistical significance(P>0.05).The improvement effect of the two groups on DMAA in young patients was not significant,and the difference had no statistical significance(P>0.05);Middle-aged group:Chevron combined with Akin and Scarf combined with Akin also significantly improved HVA and IMA(P<0.05),but the improvement effect of the two groups was similar,and the difference had no statistical significance(P>0.05).Chevron combined with Akin significantly improved DMAA in middle-aged and elderly patients,and the difference had statistical significance(P<0.05).Scarf combined with Akin did not significantly improve DMAA in middle-aged and elderly patients,and the difference had no statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion:Both Chevron combined with Akin and Scarf combined with Akin are effective and widely used.Chevron combined with Akin was able to improve DMAA in middle-aged and elderly patients.Therefore,Chevron combined with Akin is recommended for middle-aged and elderly patients with hallux valgus.Kun-Ming Xie Zhao-Jun Chen Xin-Yu Li Yin-Ze Qi Jun-De Wu Zhan-Hua Ma Xu-Yue Pan Fa-Sen Huang Huan Liang Pin Deng Jing-Lu Han Jing-Wei Tao Han-Jie Zhu 2021Journal of Hainan Medical University2021,27,13:0
18Co-present Pb(Ⅱ)accelerates the oxidation of organic contaminants by permanganate:Role of Pb(Ⅲ)显示文摘The permanganate(Mn(VII))oxidation has emerged as a promising technology for the remediation and treatment of the groundwater and surface water contaminated with the organic compounds.Nonetheless,only a few studies have been conducted to explore the role of the heavy metals(especially the redox-active ones)during the Mn(VII)oxidation process.In this study,taking Pb(II)as an example,its influence on the Mn(VII)decontamination performance has been extensively investigated.It was found that,with the presence of Pb(II),Mn(VII)could degrade diclofenac(DCF),2,4-dichlorophenol,and aniline more effectively than without.For instance,over a wide pH range of 4.5–8.0,the dosing of 10μmol/L Pb(II)accelerated the DCF removal rate from 0.006–0.25 min–1 to 0.05–0.46 min–1 with a promotion factor of 1.9–9.4.Although the UV-vis spectroscopic and high resolution transmission electron microscopy analyses suggested that Mn(VII)could react with Pb(II)to produce Mn(IV)and Pb(IV)at pH 6.0–8.0,further experiments revealed that Pb(II)did not exert its enhancing effect through promoting the generation of MnO_(2),as the reactivity of MnO_(2)was poor under the employed pH range.At pH below 5.0,it was interesting to find that,a negligible amount of MnO_(2)was formed in the Mn(VII)/Pb(II)system in the absence of contaminants,while once MnO_(2)was generated in the presence of contaminants,it could catalyze the Pb(II)oxidation to Pb(IV)by Mn(VII).Collectively,by highlighting the conversion process of Pb(II)to Pb(IV)by either Mn(VII)or MnO_(2),the reactive Pb(III)intermediates were proposed to account for the Pb(II)enhancement effect.Lei Dong Pin Xie Xin Zhang Junlian Qiao Dandan Rao Yuankui Sun Xiaohong Guan 2022Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2022,16,8:0
19Theoretical and numerical simulation investigation of deep hole dispersed charge cut blasting显示文摘Drilling and blasting methods have been used as a common driving technique for shallow-hole driving and blasting in rock roadways.With the advent of digital electronic detonators and the need for increased production efciency,the traditional blasting design is no longer suitable for deep hole blasting.In this paper,a disperse charge cut blasting method was proposed to address the issues of low excavation depth and high block rate in deep hole undercut blasting.First,a blasting model was used to illustrate the mechanism of the deep hole dispersive charge cut blasting process.Then,continuous charge and dispersed charge blasting models were developed using the smooth particle hydrodynamics-fnite element method(SPHFEM).The cutting parameters were determined theoretically,and the cutting efciency was introduced to evaluate the cutting efect.The blasting efects of the two charging models were analyzed utilizing the evolution law of rock damage,the number of rock particles thrown,and the cutting efciency.The results show that using a dispersed charge improves the cutting efciency by about 20%and the rock breakage for the deep hole cut blasting compared to the traditional continuous charge.In addition,important parameters such as cutting hole spacing,cutting hole depth and upper charge proportion also have a signifcant impact on the cutting efect.Finally,the deep hole dispersed charge cut blasting technology is combined with the digital electronic detonator through the feld engineering practice.It provides a reference for the subsequent deep hole cutting blasting and the use of electronic detonators in rock roadways.Chengxiao Li Renshu Yang Yanbing Wang Yiqiang Kang Yuantong Zhang Pin Xie 2023International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2023,10,1:0
