| 1 | Elimination of a Retrotransposon for Quenching Genome Instability in Modern Rice显示文摘Transposable elements(TEs)constitute the most abundant portions of plant genomes and can dramatically shape host genomes during plant evolution.They also play important roles in crop domestication.However,whether TEs themselves are also selected during crop domestication has remained unknown.Here,we identify an active long terminal repeat(LTR)retrotransposon,HUO,as a potential target of selection during rice domestication and breeding.HUO is a low-copy-number LTR retrotransposon,and is active under natural growth conditions and transmitted through male gametogenesis,preferentially inserting into genomic regions capable of transcription.HUO exists in all wild rice accessions and about half of the archaeological rice grains(1200–7000 years ago)and landraces surveyed,but is absent in almost all modern varieties,indicating its gradual elimination during rice domestication and breeding.Further analyses showed that HUO is subjected to strict gene silencing through the RNA-directed DNA methylation pathway.Our results also suggest that multiple HUO copies may trigger genomic instability through altering genome-wide DNA methylation and small RNA biogenesis and changing global gene expression,resulting in decreased disease resistance and yield,coinciding with its elimination during rice breeding.Together,our study suggests that negative selection of an active retrotransposon might be important for genome stability during crop domestication and breeding. | Yu Peng Yingying Zhang Yijie Gui Dong An Junzhong Liu Xun Xu Qun Li Junmin Wang Wen Wang Chunhai Shi Longjiang Fan Baorong Lu Yiwen Deng Sheng Teng Zuhua He | 2019 | Molecular Plant2019,12,10: | 2 |

| 3 | The prevalence of soil transmitted helminths and its infuential factors in Shandong Province, China: an analysis of surveillance data from 2016 to 2020显示文摘Background Soil-transmitted helminths(STHs)were previously endemic in Shandong Province,China.This study aimed to analyze the STHs prevalence trend and the natural,social,and human cognitive and behavioural factors infuencing the discrepancies between high and low infection levels from 2016 to 2020 in Shandong Province in eastern China.Methods STHs surveillance data of Shandong Province from 2016 to 2020 were obtained from China Information Management System for Prevention and Control of Parasitic Diseases.STHs infections were detected by modifed Kato–Katz method.Comprehensive information on the natural and social factors,STHs-related knowledge and behaviours were collected through questionnaire surveys.Retrospective spatial scan analysis was performed using SaTScan v10.1 to evaluate any identifed spatial clusters of STHs infection for statistical signifcance and Bayes discriminant analysis was used to discriminate the high or low infection groups of the villages.Results In total,72,160 participants were involved in our survey from 2016 to 2020.The overall STHs prevalence rate was 1.13%,with the eastern region of Shandong Province having the highest rate(2.02%).The predominant species was T.trichiura,with the prevalence rate of 0.99%and the≥70-year age group possessed the highest rate of 2.21%.The STHs prevalence rate showed an annual linear downward trend from 2016 to 2020(χ_(trend)^(2) =127.600,P<0.001).Respondents aged≥60 years had the lowest awareness level of STHs-related prevention knowledge(all P<0.05),and were the most likely to adopt the practice of fertilizing with fresh stool(χ^(2)=28.354,P<0.001).Furthermore,the southern region demonstrated the highest temperature and rainfall level and the lowest GNP and annual net income per capita(all P<0.05).Conclusions There is a remarkable declining in STHs prevalence in Shandong Province from 2016 to 2020.However,the prevalence rates of STHs especially T.trichiura in the southern and eastern regions were still high,and the elderly were more susceptible to be infected with STHs owning to their low awareness level of STHS-related prevention knowledge and high adoption rate of dangerous production and living behaviours.Integrated approaches of health education,environment improvement and behaviour change should be strengthened to obtain a further reduction of STHs prevalence in China. | Yan Xu Yongbin Wang Longjiang Wang Xiangli Kong Ge Yan Yuejin Li Cancan Bu Benguang Zhang | 2023 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2023,12,3: | 1 |

| 8 | Optical thermometry based on near-infrared luminescence from phosphors mixture显示文摘Luminescence ratiometric thermometry based on rare earth(RE)ions has attracted great interest for the potential applications in many fields.But the improvement of the measurement sensitivity and accuracy is significantly restricted due to the small energy gap between thermally coupled levels(TCL).Here,a strategy striving for good thermometric properties of luminescent materials was designed by using the phosphors mixture composed of NaY(WO_(4))_(2):Nd^(3+)-Yb^(3+)and NaY(WO_(4))_(2):Er^(3+),which were prepared by secondary sintering method.Under the excitation of 980 nm lase r,the near-infrared(NIR)emissions(710-920 nm)from Nd^(3+)ions are effectively strengthened when the temperature increases from 304 to773 K,whereas Er^(3+)NIR luminescence centered at around 1536 nm is thermally quenched.The remarkably different response of NIR emissions to the thermal variation allows us to map temperature through the ratiometric method.By optimizing the dopant concentration of rare earth(RE)ions,a maximum sensitivity of 5.14%/K together with a measurement uncertainty of about 0.1 K is acquired at304 K,which is superior to the previously reported RE luminescence-based temperature sensors,indicating that the approach developed here can pave the way for achieving optical thermometry with desired properties. | Wei Xu Xin Zhu Di Zhao Longjiang Zheng Fengkai Shang Zhiguo Zhang | 2022 | Journal of Rare Earths2022,40,2: | 0 |

The photoacoustic pulsc is gener ated by a focused laser pulse via the laser-induced breakdown mechanism in liquids.Inthe range pf the propagation distance, in which the photoacoustic pulses were meas ured, the variation of the amplitude of photoacoustic pulse with the distance is very close to the spherical attenuation law. From the variation of the rise time of photoacoustic pulse wavefront propagating through a certain distance, the parameter B / A of liquid is determined. Comparing with the plane pulsed wave with bounded beam, the effect of diffraction may e avoided by using the spherical pulsed wave. | 11 | Influences of MJO-induced Tropical Cyclones on the Circulation-Convection Inconsistency for the 2021 South China Sea Summer Monsoon Onset显示文摘The South China Sea Summer Monsoon(SCSSM)onset is characterized by an apparent seasonal conversion of circulation and convection.Accordingly,various indices have been introduced to identify the SCSSM onset date.However,the onset dates as determined by various indices can be very inconsistent.It not only limits the determination of onset dates but also misleads the assessment of prediction skills.In 2021,the onset time as identified by the circulation criteria was 20 May,which is 12 days earlier than that deduced by also considering the convection criteria.The present study mainly ascribes such circulation-convection inconsistency to the activities of tropical cyclones(TCs)modulated by the Madden-Julian Oscillation(MJO).The convection of TC“Yaas”(2021)acted as an upper-level diabatic heat source to the north of the SCS,facilitating the circulation transition.Afterward,TC“Choi-wan”(2021)over the western Pacific aided the westerlies to persist at lower levels while simultaneously suppressing moist convection over the SCS.Accurate predictions using the ECMWF S2S forecast system were obtained only after the MJO formation.The skillful prediction of the MJO during late spring may provide an opportunity to accurately predict the establishment of the SCSSM several weeks in advance. | Yanying CHEN Ning JIANG Yang AI Kang XU Longjiang MAO | 2023 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2023,40,2: | 0 |

| 13 | The dynamic compressive properties of magnetorheological plastomers: enhanced magnetic-induced stresses by non-magnetic particles显示文摘In this research, a series of hollow glass powder(HGP) reinforced magnetorheological plastomers(MRPs)were prepared to improve the impact resistance of the materials, and the dynamic compressive properties of MRPs under high strain rate were investigated by using a split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)system equipped with a customized magnetic device. Experimental results showed the HGPs greatly enhanced the yield stresses of the MRPs. Especially, for MRPs with 9 vol.% carbonyl iron powders(CIPs), the magnetic-induced yield stress increased from 7.3 MPa to 17.1 MPa(134% increased) by adding 18 vol.%HGPs. The particle structures in MRPs were further simulated and the corresponding intergranular stress was calculated to study the enhancement effect of HGPs. The simulated results showed that more compact structures were formed with the excluded volume caused by secondary HGPs, so the yield stresses of the MRPs increased under a magnetic field. However, when the mass ratio of HGP to CIP was larger than 0.67, HGPs would hinder the formation of chain-like structures and reduce the magneto-mechanical properties. | 14 | Dual-excitation decoding multiparameter-based ratiometric luminescence thermometry:a new strategy toward reliable and accurate thermal sensing显示文摘Luminescence thermometry can perform noninvasive thermal sensing with high spatial resolution and fast response,emerging as an exciting field of research due to its promising applications in biomedicine.Nevertheless,because of the interaction between light and complex tissues,the reliability and the accuracy of this technique suffer serious interference,which significantly restricts its practical utilization.Here,a strategy to implement effective luminescence nanothermometry is preliminarily proposed by employing the different thermal responses between Yb^(3+)→Nd^(3+)and Nd^(3+)→Yb^(3+)energy transfer processes.Different from the traditional ratiometric sensing method,where two luminescence intensities are used as the thermal response parameters,we use two intensity ratios between Yb^(3+)and Nd^(3+)near-IR emissions that are obtained under dual excitation as the detecting and reference signals to perform temperature measurement.This multiparameter-based,self-reference thermometry technique,as we define it,exhibits excellent immunity to the influences arising from the fluctuation and loss of pumping sources as well as the luminescence attenuation in media.High thermal sensitivity(~2.2%K^(-1))and good resolution(~0.35°C)are successfully achieved here,accompanied by a measurement error of~1.1°C in a biological environment test,while large errors are observed based on the traditional ratiometric approach(~8.9°C,~23.2°C).We believe the viewpoint in this work could boost luminescence thermometry and provide an ingenious route toward high-performance thermal sensing for biological systems. | WEI XU SHUNING ZONG FENGKAI SHANG LONGJIANG ZHENG ZHIGUO ZHANG | 2022 | Photonics Research2022,10,11: | 0 |

| 18 | Properties of Magnetite Nanoparticles Produced by Magnetotactic Bacteria显示文摘The magnetic nanoparticles(magnetite) were prepared through the fermentation of the Magnetospirillum strain WM-1 newly isolated by our group. The samples were characterized by TEM, SAED, XRD, rock magnetic analysis, and Mossbauer spectroscopy. TEM and SAED measurements showed that the magnetosomes formed by strain WM-1 were single crystallites of high perfection with a cubic spinel structure of magnetite. X-ray measurements also fitted very well with standard Fe3O4 reflections with an inverse spinel structure of the magnetite core. The size of crystal as calculated by the Debye-Scherrer's equation was approximately 55 nm. Rock magnetic analysis showed WM-1 synthesized single-domain magnetite magnetosomes, which were arranged in the form of linear chain. The high delta ratio((δFC / δZFC = 4) supported the criteria of Moskowitz test that there were intact magnetosomes chains in cells. The Verwey transition occurred at 105 K that closed to stoochiometric magnetite in composition. These observations provided useful insights into the biomineralization of magnetosomes and properties of M.
