1Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. 2Facile synthesis of thiourea derivatives in ionic liquid显示文摘The synthesis of cinnamoyl thiourea derivatives from cinnamoyl isothiocyanate (CIT) with substituted aniline (RC6H4NH2) was investigated in the mostly used ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, [Bmim][BF4]. Significant enhance-ments in reactivity, yield and reaction rate were achieved. The products could be recovered by simple filtration. 4A novel process integrating vacuum distillation with atmospheric chlorination reaction for flexible production of tetrachloroethane and pentachloroethane显示文摘In this paper, we developed a novel process integrating vacuum distillation with atmospheric chlorination reaction(VD-ACR) to realize the flexible production of tetrachloroethane(TeCA) and pentachloroethane(PCA)from 1,2-dichloroethane(DCA). During the simulation, the distillation column and reactors were operated for separation and chlorination respectively under variable pressures and temperatures. It is interesting to note that VD-ACR processes producing pure TeCA or PCA can exhibit the similar configuration parameters after optimization, which enables the flexible production of TeCA and PCA with different molar ratios via changing operating parameters. The molar ratio of TeC A/PCA can be fine-tuned within the range of 0.9:0.1-0.1:0.9 through adjusting the amount of chlorine pumped into side reactors, giving rise to the increase of the heat duty of reboiler by five times. A pilot-scale experiment was then operated based-upon this VD-ACR process and the result matched well with the simulation. 5Comparison of Clinical Characteristics and Outcomes of Pediatric and Adult Patients with Coronavirus Disease 2019 in Shenzhen,China显示文摘Objective Here we aimed to investigate the difference in clinical characteristics and outcomes between pediatric and adult patients with COVID-19.Methods A total of 333 consecutive patients with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection treated in the departments of Internal medicine of Shenzhen Third People’s Hospital from January 11 th to February 10 th,2020 were included.The data were obtained from electronic medical records.The epidemiological data,clinical characteristics,length of hospital stays,and outcomes of pediatric and adult patients were compared.Results Compared with adult patients,pediatric patients had a shorter time of symptom onset to hospitalization than adults[median time,1(IQR,1.0-1.0)d vs.3(IQR,2.0-6.0)d,P<0.001],milder or fewer symptoms,less severe chest CT findings.The clinical severity classification of children was less severe than adults.Up to 15 th March,the end of the follow-up,33(100%)children and 292(97.3%)adult patients had been discharged from hospital.Only 2(0.7%)adult patients died,with an overall case mortality of 0.6%.The median length of hospital stay of pediatric patients was shorter than that of adult patients[19(95%CI:16.6-21.4)d vs.21(95%CI:19.9-22.1)d,P=0.024].Conclusion Pediatric patients with COVID-19 had milder or less clinical symptoms,less evident pulmonary imaging changes,better prognosis,and shorter length of hospital stay.WANG Fang LAI Chang Xiang HUANG Peng Yu LIU Jia Ming WANG Xian Feng TANG Qi Yuan ZHOU Xuan XIAN Wen Jie CHEN Rui Kun LI Xuan LI Zhi Yu LIAO Li Qun HE Qing LIU Lei 2020Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2020,33,12:2

17DEVELOPMENT OF A NEUTRAL PARTICLE ANALYZER FOR THE HL-1M TOKAMAK显示文摘A neutral particle energy analyzer (NPA) has been developed to investigate the energy spectra of neutral particles emitted from the HL1M tokamak plasma. The NPA consists of a pair of 45o parallel electrostatic plates, a gas stripping cell, a column of channeltrons for recording ions,and the relevant instrumentation and software. There are eight energy channels in the NPA with energy ratio of 8 between the lowest energy channel and the highest one. Calibration experiment is the key issue for the development of NPA. Calibrations of energy, energy resolution and registration efficiency have been carried out. The scattering of neutrals through the stripping gas impingement, which is severe for the particle energy we concerned, has also been measured to calibrate the registration efficiency accurately. 19Chlorine-induced mixed valence of CuO_(x)/C to promote the electroreduction of carbon dioxide to ethylene显示文摘Electrochemical conversion of CO_(2)(CO_(2)RR)into high-value fuel is identified as one of the promising approaches to achieve carbon neutrality.The synthesis of high-efficiency CO_(2)reduction electrocatalysts with high C_(2):C_(1) selectivity remains a field of intense interest.Previous studies have shown that the presence of Cu(I)is beneficial for the reduction of CO_(2)into C_(2)products.However,the stable presence of Cu(I)remains controversial,especially in the negative potential window.Here we report a simple and easily scalable catalyst precursor Cu_(2)(OH)_(3)Cl/C,which automatically forms in-situ chlorine-doped Cu/Cu_(2)O heterointerface during electrocatalysis.The catalyst not only exhibits a Faradaic efficiency of 33.03%but also provides a long-term stability of Cu^(+),gaining a stable electrolysis of 11 h,with an ethylene/methane ratio over 50.The experimental results and mechanistic studies confirm that the presence of Cl^(-)inhibits the reduction of Cu^(+),inducing the formation of Cu^(0)/Cu^(+),and reduces the reaction energy of the intermediate ^(*)CO dimerization,thereby facilitating the formation of C_(2)products.This work provides a feasible way to synthesize copper ions with long-term and stable positive charge in CO_(2)RR and expands a new way to synthesize ethylene industrial products in the future.Xin Wang Ming Miao Bowen Tang Haotian Duan Fulong Zhu Huigang Zhang Xian Zhang Wen-jin Yin Yongzhu Fu 2023Nano Research2023,16,7:0
20Development and evaluation of a double-plane detector system for multi-radionuclide imaging显示文摘Purpose To develop a multi-radionuclide imaging system with a flexible and compact structure that has a potential for breast and other applications,and to evaluate its performances under both positron emission tomography and single photon emission imaging conditions.Methods The plane detector was composed of 5×6 blocks with an effective detection area of 168.6 mm×202.4 mm.Each block consisted of a 16×16 LYSO array.The pixel size is 1.9 mm×1.9 mm×15 mm.An 8×8 silicon photomultiplier(SiPM)array with SensL’s C-30035 sensors was coupled to the LYSO array,separated by a 1.5-mm-thick glass.To minimize the influence of temperature on the detector,the active part of the front-end electronics was kept away from SiPMs.Self-designed data acquisition system and reconstruction software were utilized to evaluate the performances of the whole system.Results All the blocks had excellent pixels identification.An average energy resolution of 11.39%for 511 keV and 21.37%for 140 keV was obtained.In the PET mode,the best spatial resolution was better than 2 mm and the system sensitivity reached up to 11.05%at 60 mm distance.In the single photon emission imaging mode,a spatial resolution better than 3 mm was obtained.Conclusion The results indicated that the system has a good overall performance and can be used in breast imaging and other general PET applications.It also has the potential to be used for single photon emission imaging.In pursuit of a better spatial resolution of cross-plane,PSF and DOI technology will be developed in the next work.For specific applications,further improvement of the detector system such as performance evaluation with phantoms will be carried out.Zhen‑Rui Lu Xian‑Chao Huang Zhi‑Ming Zhang Ying‑Jie Wang Da‑Quan Cao Wei Zhou Xiao‑Yue Gu Xiao‑li Sun Pei Chai Hao‑Hui Tang Dao‑Wu Li Lin Li Chuang‑Xin Ma Long Wei 2019Radiation Detection Technology and Methods2019,3,3:0
