Formation of active oxygen species on single-atom Pt catalyst and promoted catalytic oxidation of toluene显示文摘Catalytic oxidation of toluene over noble metal catalysts is a representative reaction for elimination of volatile organic compounds(VOCs).However,to fully understand the activation of molecular oxygen and the role of active oxygen species generated in this reaction is still a challenging target.Herein,MgO nanosheets and single-atom Pt loaded MgO(Pt SA/MgO)nanosheets were synthesized and used as catalysts in toluene oxidation. The activation process of molecular oxygen and oxidation performance on the two catalysts were contrastively investigated. The Pt SA/MgO exhibited significantly enhanced catalytic activity compared to MgO.The oxygen vacancies can be easily generated on the Pt SA/MgO surface, which facilitate the activation of molecular oxygen and the formation of active oxygen species.Based on the experimental data and theoretical calculations,an active oxygen species promoted oxidation mechanism for toluene was proposed. In the presence of H2O,the molecular oxygen is more favorable to be dissociated to generate•OH on the oxygen vacancies of the Pt SA/MgO surface, which is the dominant active oxygen species. We anticipate that this work may shed light on further investigation of t10.1007/s12274-020-2765-1he oxidation mechanism of toluene and other VOCs over noble metal catalysts. | Shunzheng Zhao Yanfeng Wen Xijun Liu Xianyun Pen Fang Lü Fengyu Gao Xizhou Xie Chengcheng Du Honghong Yi Dongjuan Kang Xiaolong Tang | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,6: | 12
Effect of illumination intensity and light application time on secondary organic aerosol formation from the photooxidation of α-pinene显示文摘Secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formation from hydroxyl radical (OH.) initiated photooxidation of α-pinene was investigated in a home-made smog chamber. The size distribution of SOA particles was measured using aerodynamic particle sizer spectrometer. The effects of illumination intensity and light application time on SOA formation for α-pinene were evaluated. Experimental results show that the concentration of SOA particles increased significantly with an increasing of illumination intensity, and the light application time, the concentration, and the size of SOA particles were also increased. In addition, the factors influencing the formation of SOA were discussed. In addition, this article compared the effect of α-pinene with that of toluene, and discussed the contribution of α-pinene to SOA formation. | LIU Xianyun, ZHANG Weijun, HUANG Mingqiang, WANG Zhenya, HAO Liqing, ZHAO Wenwu Laboratory of Environment Spectroscopy, Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences,Hefei 230031, China. | 2009 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,4: | 7
Atomic Fe-Zn dual-metal sites for high-efficiency pH-universal oxygen reduction catalysis显示文摘An effective electrocatalyst being highly active in all pH range for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)is crucial for energy conversion and storage devices. However, most of the high-efficiency ORR catalysis was reported in alkaline conditions.Herein,we demonstrated the preparation of atomically dispersed Fe-Zn pairs anchored on porous N-doped carbon frameworks(Fe-Zn-SA/NC),which works efficiently as ORR catalyst in the whole pH range. It achieves high half-wave potentials of 0.78,0.85 and 0.72 V in 0.1 M HClO4,0.1 M KOH and 0.1 M phosphate buffer saline(PBS)solutions, respectively,as well as respectable stability. The performances are even comparable to Pt/C.Furthermore,when assembled into a Zn-air battery, the high power density of 167.2 mWcm−2 and 120 h durability reveal the feasibility of Fe-Zn-SA/NC in real energy-related devices.Theoretical calculations demonstrate that the superior catalytic activity of Fe-Zn-SA/NC can be contributed to the lower energy barriers of ORR at the Fe-Zn-N6 centers. This work demonstrates the potential of Fe-Zn pairs as alternatives to the Pt catalysts for efficient catalytic ORR and provides new insights of dual-atom catalysts for other energy conversion related catalytic reactions. | Jie Xu Shuhua Lai Defeng Qi Min Hu Xianyun Peng Yifan Liu Wei Liu Guangzhi Hu Heng Xu Fan Li Chao Li Jia He Longchao Zhuo Jiaqiang Sun Yuan Qiu Shusheng Zhang Jun Luo Xijun Liu | 2021 | Nano Research2021,14,5: | 6
MoC nanocrystals confined in N-doped carbon nanosheets toward highly selective electrocatalytic nitric oxide reduction to ammonia显示文摘Electrochemical nitric oxide reduction reaction(NORR)to produce ammonia(NH3)under ambient conditions is a promising alternative to the energy and carbon-intensive Haber–Bosch approach, but its performance is still improved.Herein, molybdenum carbides(MoC)nanocrystals confined by nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheets are first designed as an efficient and durable electrocatalyst for catalyzing the reduction of NO to NH3 with maximal Faradaic efficiency of 89%±2%and a yield rate of 1,350±15μg·h^(−1)·cm^(−2) at the applied potential of−0.8 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE)as well as high stable activity with negligible current density and NH3 yield rate decays over a 30 h continue the test. Moreover,as a proof-of-concept of Zn–NO battery,it achieves a peak power density of 1.8 mW·cm^(−2) and a large NH3 yield rate of 782±10μg·h^(−1)·cm^(−2),which are comparable to the best-reported results.Theoretical calculations reveal that the MoC(111)has a strong electronic interaction with NO molecules and thus lowering the energy barrier of the potential-determining step and suppressing hydrogen evolution kinetics. This work suggests that Mo-based materials are a powerful platform providing great opportunities to explore highly selective and active catalysts for NH3 production. | Ge Meng Mengmeng Jin Tianran Wei Qian Liu Shusheng Zhang Xianyun Peng Jun Luo Xijun Liu | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,10: | 3
Dual effects of spatial updating in both real and virtual environments显示文摘When people move around in their environment, spatial updating, which is an automatic cognitive process, is essential to ensuring people can keep track of their relations between them and the surrounding objects, and to 'recalculating' the relative position and orientation of those objects with regard to the current position of the persons. Despite the facilitating effect of spatial updating to people's mental representation in most circumstances as demonstrated in most of the existing literature, the effect sometimes can be adversarial. For instance, some research suggested that even though people were asked to ignore their locomotion, it is difficult to suppress updating of the spatial representation during movement. The current two studies were conducted to systematically investigate the dual effects of spatial updating in both real and virtual environments. We used a typical spatial updating paradigm to explore the effects of scene familiarity (familiar vs. novel) and person's locomotion (stationary vs. moving) on change detection accuracy (target object moved or not). The results indicated a facilitating effect of spatial updating in the novel scene condition, but an adversarial effect in the familiar scene condition-the dual effects, in both real and virtual environments. | LIU ShuQing ZHENG XianJun Sam LIU XianYun PENG KaiPing | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,8: | 2

Single‐atomic Co‐B_(2)N_(2)sites anchored on carbon nanotube arrays promote lithium polysulfide conversion in lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘Due to low cost, high capacity, and high energy density, lithium–sulfur(Li–S)batteries have attracted much attention;however, their cycling performance was largely limited by the poor redox kinetics and low sulfur utilization.Herein, predicted by density functional theory calculations, single‐atomic Co‐B2N2 site‐imbedded boron and nitrogen co‐doped carbon nanotubes(SA‐Co/BNC)were designed to accomplish high sulfur loading, fast kinetic, and long service period Li–S batteries.Experiments proved that Co‐B2N2 atomic sites can effectively catalyze lithium polysulfide conversion. Therefore, the electrodes delivered a specific capacity of 1106 mAh g−1 at 0.2 C after 100 cycles and exhibited an outstanding cycle performance over 1000 cycles at 1 C with a decay rate of 0.032%per cycle. Our study offers a new strategy to couple the combined effect of nanocarriers and single‐atomic catalysts in novel coordination environments for high‐performance Li–S batteries. | Zhifeng Wang Yajing Yan Yongguang Zhang Yanxu Chen Xianyun Peng Xin Wang Weimin Zhao Chunling Qin Qian Liu Xijun Liu Zhongwei Chen | 2023 | Carbon Energy2023,5,11: | 1
Can the memory of an object be enhanced by imagining its loss?显示文摘Previous investigations examining salient memories have demonstrated that personal memories that are important to individuals and contain emotional information are better remembered than neutral events.Using behavioral and brain-imaging experiments, the present studies explored whether the previous finding was applicable imagined loss.In a behavioral experiment,a free recall paradigm was used to compare the memory performance of individuals who imagined loss with that of individuals who imagined importance. The superior memory performance conferred by imagining loss was constrained to ordinary items of low to medium importance and did not generalize to vital items. Moreover, brain imaging evidence revealed that the activation in certain brain regions was stronger when participants were imagining the loss of ordinary items of low to medium importance compared to vital items. These brain regions included cognitive effort-related areas(such as the parietal cortex and middle prefrontal cortex) and areas related to emotional experiences and emotion-related memories(such as the amygdala, parahippocampal gyrus, and posterior cingulate gyrus). Our study provides a new way of exploring the superior memory performance when imagining loss and enriches the literature on memory enhancement by contributing to a deeper understanding of the psychological mechanisms related to the imagining of vital losses. | LI Qi QI Yue LIU XianYun LUO Jing | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,15: | 1

Cloning of catalase gene and antioxidant genes in Scophthalmus maximus response to metalloprotease of Vibrio anguillarum stress显示文摘Metalloproteases represent a class of extracellular proteases found in Vibrio anguillarum that can generate toxic and pathogenic eff ects in turbot(Scophthalmus maximus). The toxicological eff ect partly results from oxidative damage due to the production of excessive reactive oxygen species(ROS).Catalase(CAT),superoxide dismutase(SOD),and glutathione peroxidase(GPx)are major antioxidant enzymes induced by various oxidative stresses and can scavenge peroxides generated in cells. To evaluate the eff ects of metalloprotease-induced ROS on the antioxidation defense mechanism of S.maximus head kidney cells, the cDNA of CAT gene(designated as SmCAT)was cloned and characterized.SmCAT comprises a 1584-bp coding sequence that encodes a protein containing 527 amino acids with a poly(A)tail.Bioinformatics analysis revealed an active site signature sequence,a heme-ligand signature sequence, and three catalytic amino acid residues. The deduced SmCAT amino acid sequence shares a sequence similarity of 66.1%-92.4%with those of other species.Phylogenetic analysis revealed that SmCAT is classifi ed with CAT of other fi shes.Quantitative real-time PCR analysis showed that SmCAT was extensively expressed in all tested tissues, especially in blood. The expression of SmCAT,SmMnSOD,and SmGPx were inhibited signifi cantly in head kidney cells treated with metalloprotease from 12 to 24 h.In 6 to 24 h metalloprotease-treated groups compared to that of the untreated group,it was found that the production of ROS was markedly increased, and the mitochondrial membrane potential was decreased considerably.Hoechst 33342 staining revealed the presence of apoptotic bodies when the cells were incubated with 8.0 or 40.0μg/mL metalloprotease for 12 and 24 h.Hence, the toxic eff ects of metalloprotease are associated with the down-regulation of antioxidant enzyme expression and increased ROS levels, which trigger the activation of apoptosis in the head kidney cells of turbot. Our fi ndings provide a better understanding on the mechanism of metalloprotease-induced apoptosis in fi sh. | Hai REN Jian LI Ping LIU Xianyun REN Tao SONG Guisheng GAO Duwen LI Shuaiting LIU | 2022 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2022,40,1: | 0

pyrG is required for maintaining stable cellular uracil level and normal sporulation pattern under excess uracil stress in Aspergillus nidulans显示文摘Tight control of the intracellular uracil level is believed to be important to reduce the occurrence of uracil incorporation into DNA.The pyrG gene of Aspergillus nidulans encodes orotidine 5'-phosphate decarboxylase, which catalyzes the conversion of orotidine monophosphate(OMP) to uridine monophosphate(UMP).In this study,we found that pyrG is critical for maintaining uracil at a low concentration in A.nidulans cells in the presence of exogenous uracil.Excess uracil and its derivatives had a stronger inhibitory effect on the growth of the pyrG89 mutant with defective OMP decarboxylase activity than on the growth of wild type, and induced sexual development in the pyrG89 mutant but not in wild type.Analysis of transcriptomic responses to excess uracil by digital gene expression profiling(DGE) revealed that genes related to sexual development were transcriptionally activated in the pyrG89 mutant but not in wild type.Quantitative analysis by HPLC showed that the cellular uracil level was 6.5 times higher in the pyrG89 mutant than in wild type in the presence of exogenous uracil. This study not only provides new information on uracil recycling and adaptation to excess uracil but also reveals the potential effects of OMP decarboxylase on fungal growth and development. | SUN XianYun ZHU JuFen BAO Li HU ChengCheng JIN Cheng HARRIS Steven D. | 18 | Comparison of extruded cell nanovesicles and exosomes in their molecular cargos and regenerative potentials显示文摘Extracellular vesicles(EVs)generated from mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)play an essential role in modulating cell–cell communication and tissue regeneration. The clinical translation of EVs is constrained by the poor yield of EVs.Extrusion has recently become an effective technique for producing a large scale of nanovesicles(NVs).In this study,we systematically compared MSC NVs(from extrusion)and EVs(from natural secretion).Proteomics and RNA sequencing data revealed that NVs resemble MSCs more closely than EVs.Additionally, microRNAs in NVs are related to cardiac repair, fibrosis repression, angiogenesis.Lastly, intravenous delivery of MSC NVs improved heart repair and cardiac function in a mouse model of myocardial infarction. | Xianyun Wang Shiqi Hu Dashuai Zhu Junlang Li Ke Cheng Gang Liu | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,5: | 0
Chemical composition and size distribution of secondary organic aerosol formed from the photooxidation of isoprene显示文摘Photooxidation of isoprene leads to the formation of secondary organic aerosol (SOA). In this study, the chemical composition of SOA formed from OH-initiated photooxidation of isoprene has been investigated with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and a home-made aerosol time-of-fiight mass spectrometer. Sampling particles generated in a home-made smog chamber. The size distribution of SOA particles was detected by a TSI 3321 aerodynamic particle size spectrometer in real time. Results showed that SOA created by isoprene photooxidation was predominantly in the form of fine particles, which have diameters less than 2.5 μm. The obtained mass spectra of individual particles show that products of the OH-initiated oxidation of isoprene contain methyl vinyl ketone, methacrolein, formaldehyde, and some other hydroxycarbonyls. The possible reaction mechanisms leading to these products were also discussed. | LIU Xianyun, ZHANG Weijun, WANG Zhenya, ZHAO Weixiong, TAO Ling, YANG Xibin Laboratory of Environmental Spectroscopy, Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hefei 230031, China. | 2009 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,11: | 0
