1Microcalorimetric investigation of the effect of berberine alkaloids from Coptis chinensis Franch on Staphylococcus aureus growth显示文摘The inhibitory effects of three berberine alkaloids (BAs) from rhizome of Coptis chinensis Franch, a traditional Chinese medicinal (TCM) herb, on Staphylococcus aureus growth were investigated by mi- crocalorimetry. The power–time curves of S. aureus with and without BAs were acquired; meanwhile the extent and duration of inhibitory effects on the metabolism were evaluated by studying the growth rate constant (k), half inhibitory ratio (IC50), maximum heat-output power (Pmax), peak time of maximum heat-output power (tp) and total heat production (Qt). The value of k of S. aureus in the presence of the three BAs decreased with the increasing concentrations of BAs. Moreover, Pmax was reduced and the value of tp increased with increasing concentrations of the three drugs. The inhibitory activity varied with different drugs. The values of IC50 of the three BAs are respectively, 101.4 μg/mL for berberine, 241.0 μg/mL for palmatine and 792.3 μg/mL for jateorrhizine. The sequence of antimicrobial activity of the three BAs is: berberine > palmatine > jateorrhizine. 3The action of medicinal animal horns on Escherichia coli growth investigated by microcalorimetry and chemometric analysis显示文摘The action of Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum (CCP), Cornu Cervi (CC) and Cornu Saigae Tataricae (CST) on Escherichia coli growth were investigated using microcalorimetry to find the heat change regularity of microbial growth. The similarity of thermogenic curves and thermodynamics parameters were investigated as evaluation index, such as the growth rate constant in the first expo- nential phase (k1), maximum power in the first exponential phase (P1), maximum power in the secondary exponential phase (P2), peak time in the first exponential phase (T1), peak time in the stationary phase (T2) and the total heat production in stage 1 (Q1), and the total heat production in stage 2 (Q2). Chemometric analysis was used as a reference for the bioactivity evaluation of medicinal animal horns. The results indicated that the similarity between CST and the control was smaller than that between CCP, CC and the control. Both CCP and CC could increase the heat in the microbial growth, whereas CST decreased it. 4The self-regulation process and its mechanism of channels' bed changes in the Changjiang(Yangtze) Estuary in China显示文摘Recent bathymetric changes in the Changjiang Estuary under the influence of artificial regulation engineerings and basin reservoirs have been analyzed based on the maritime charts since 1997 and recent fieldworks. The results indicate a slight erosion of the channels in the upper and middle estuary, continuing deposition and seaward move of the mouth bar crest and intensifying erosion at the nearshore seabed. It is noteworthy that the morphological evolution caused by intensive human activities dominates over the changes from nature process.First, the riverbes are eroded overall in the South Branch(SB), the South Channel(SC) and the upper and middle reaches of the North Channel(NC). The nearshore seabed outside the river mouth is being eroded slightly, which is attributed to the declining sediment supply from the Changjiang Basin due to the construction of the Three Gorges Dam upstream. The sediment above the seabed is very active and coarsened, meanwhile, sand waves are becoming more distinct. Second, a deposition occurs in the North Brach(NB), the mouth of the NC, the mouth bars of the North Passage(NP) and the South Passage(SP) and especially the main channel of the NP, where it shows a massive siltation after the deep waterway project. The reasons for the recent changes are not only the dynamic structure in estuarine mouth bars, but also the supply of sediment resuspension in a local and offshore area. Meanwhile, the severe erosion and siltation in some reaches is related to the construction of estuarine engineerings. It is indicated that the Changjiang Estuary is gradually self-adjusted and adapting to the varying natural factors and intensive human activities. 5A quality evaluation strategy for Rhizoma coptidis from a variety of different sources using chromatographic fingerprinting combined with biological fingerprinting显示文摘Most of herbal medicines of different sources are used for the same treatment goal in clinic despite their tremendous differences of the quality.Because the clinical efficacy is closely related to the quality of medicines,the implementation of an effective quality control(QC)process is vital.Chemical methods based on content determination and chromatographic fingerprints(CFs)have been recommended as powerful tools.In spite of advances in QC,it is still difficult to determine that which of the chemical compositions can best reflect the correlation with the desired biological activity.Herein,we have focused on the biological activities of multi-source herbal medicines to establish an analytical method.By looking for correlations between the biological activities and their chemical compositions,the method can identify reasonable chemical indicators or chemical methods with biological activity information.In this study,high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)and microcalorimetry are combined as a useful method for evaluating the quality of Rhizoma coptidis from different sources.The results of biological fingerprints(BFs)showed that the antibacterial activity sequence of R.coptidis of different sources was Coptis teeta Wall.(CT)>Coptis chinensis Franch.(CC)>Coptis deltoidea C.Y.Cheng et Hsiao(CD).The'spectrum-activity'relationships between CFs and BFs were investigated using the canonical correlation analysis(CCA).Compared with the CCA result of CFs and BFs,the canonical correlation coefficient r1and r2were 0.9974 and 0.9752,respectively.It revealed that there are a close correlation between the spectrum-activity relationships and several of the major anti-bacterial components in the CFs,including jatrorrhizine,coptisine,palmatine,and berberine.Of course,R.coptidis was only a representative of multisource medical plants.The result of the current study will provide an effective reference for evaluating the quality of multisource herbal medicines.LI JunXian YAN Dan MA LiNa XIONG Yin YAN ChunXia LI BaoCai PENG Cheng XIAO XiaoHe 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,33:5
6A Wideband E-Plane Crossover Coupler for Terahertz Applications显示文摘In this paper,a new approach to design terahertz(THz)E-plane crossover coupler is reported.By cascading two symmetrical septum polarizers,a simple structure with wide operating bandwidth and high isolation performance is achieved.The working principle is explained by operating waveguide modes.To simplify the optimization process,the scattering matrix(S-matrix)of the crossover is calculated.Two prototypes loaded and unloaded electromagnetic band gap(EBG)are fabricated and measured.The electrical contact problem at assembly plane is eliminated by the prototype loaded EBG.A measured bandwidth of 17.3%from 92.5 to 110 GHz for reflection and isolation coefficients<-15 dB and transmission coefficient>-2 dB is achieved.Xiaohe Cheng Zhiyan Liu Yuan Yao Junsheng Yu Xiaodong Chen 2021China Communications2021,18,5:1

8High-Gain Dual Circularly Polarized Antenna for Air-to-Ground Wireless Link显示文摘This paper presents an E-band reflector antenna fed by dual circularly polarized feed system. Axial displaced ellipse reflector is adopted for high gain and low blockage mechanisms. The feed system mainly composed of orthomode transducer, iris polarizer and horn antenna, and possesses dual circular polarization. The orthomode transducer offers high isolation performance in broadband by double symmetry and the iris polarizer achieves phase shift by introducing discontinuities. In addition, the ridge and iris in the feed are optimized to be wide enough to fabricate and maintain good mechanical properties in higher frequency band. The entire antenna is simulated and fabricated. The measured gain of 45 ± 1.2 d Bi corresponds to about 52% efficiency. 10Honeycomb-like biochar framework coupled with Fe_(3)O_(4)/FeS nanoparticles as efficient heterogeneous Fenton catalyst for phenol degradation显示文摘Achieving an efficient and stable heterogeneous Fenton reaction over a wide pH range is of great significance for wastewater treatment.Here,a pollen-derived biochar catalyst with a unique honeycomb-like structure,coupled with the dispersion of magnetic Fe_(3)O_(4)/FeS(Fe/S)nanoparticles,was synthesized by simple impregnation precursor,followed by pyrolysis.The prepared Fe/S-biochar catalyst demonstrated outstanding phenol degradation efficiency across a wide pH range,with 98%of which eliminated even under neutral conditions(pH 7.0).The high catalytic activity was due to the multilevel porous structure of pollenderived biochar provided enough active sites and allowed for better electron transfer,then increases oxidation ability to promote the reaction.Moreover,the acid microenvironment formed by SO_(4)^(2-)group from Fe/S composite extended the pH range for Fenton reaction,and S^(2-)facilitated the conversion of≡Fe^(3+)to≡Fe^(2+),resulting in remarkable degradation efficiency.Further,biochar can effectively promote cycling stability by limiting Fe leaching.This work may provide a general strategy for designing 3D framework biochar-based Fe/S catalysts with excellent performance for heterogeneous Fenton reactions.Aihua Cheng Yi He Xiaohe Liu Chi He 2024Journal of Environmental Sciences2024,,2:0

12Vulnerability assessment of coastal wetlands in Minjiang River Estuary based on cloud model under sea level rise显示文摘The change of coastal wetland vulnerability affects the ecological environment and the economic development of the estuary area.In the past,most of the assessment studies on the vulnerability of coastal ecosystems stayed in static qualitative research,lacking predictability,and the qualitative and quantitative relationship was not objective enough.In this study,the“Source-Pathway-Receptor-Consequence”model and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change vulnerability definition were used to analyze the main impact of sea level rise caused by climate change on coastal wetland ecosystem in Minjiang River Estuary.The results show that:(1)With the increase of time and carbon emission,the area of high vulnerability and the higher vulnerability increased continuously,and the area of low vulnerability and the lower vulnerability decreased.(2)The eastern and northeastern part of the Culu Island in the Minjiang River Estuary of Fujian Province and the eastern coastal wetland of Meihua Town in Changle District are areas with high vulnerability risk.The area of high vulnerability area of coastal wetland under high emission scenario is wider than that under low emission scenario.(3)Under different sea level rise scenarios,elevation has the greatest impact on the vulnerability of coastal wetlands,and slope has less impact.The impact of sea level rise caused by climate change on the coastal wetland ecosystem in the Minjiang River Estuary is mainly manifested in the sea level rise,which changes the habitat elevation and daily flooding time of coastal wetlands,and then affects the survival and distribution of coastal wetland ecosystems.Xiaohe Lai Chuqing Zeng Yan Su Shaoxiang Huang Jianping Jia Cheng Chen Jun Jiang 2023Acta Oceanologica Sinica2023,42,7:0
13Geological context and vents morphology in the ultramafic-hosted Tianxiu field, Carlsberg Ridge显示文摘The Tianxiu hydrothermal field(TXHF) located on Carlsberg Ridge is one of the few active ultramafic-hosted venting systems known in the Indian Ocean. Despite numerous investigations, there is limited understanding of its sulfide structure morphology, and the factors controlling the formation of TXHF are poorly understood. In this study, we conducted detailed seafloor mapping using visual data obtained by dives using the human-occupied vehicle(HOV) Jiaolong. The TXHF is found to be an active, off-axis, ultramafic-hosted, high-temperature hydrothermal area in which serpentine peridotite is exposed. Two main hydrothermal sites were identified, i.e., P and Y, both of which feature a complex of chimneys and beehive diffusers constituting a “chimney jungle” and isolated large steep-sided structures developed on flat-lying sulfide mounds. In addition, some sporadic inactive chimneys and outcrops of hydrothermal deposits were noted. The chimneys are rich in Fe and Zn sulfide, and lack the central fluid channel formed by focused high-temperature fluid flow. Hydrothermal venting at TXHF is likely related to low-angle detachment faults that focus and transport hydrothermal fluids away from a heat source along the valley wall. 14Statistical Analysis of the Relationship between Macroscopic Anomalies and Earthquakes显示文摘Macroscopic anomalies from'Earthquake Cases in China'are statistically analyzed in this paper. The conclusion is as follows: The probability of occurrence of macroscopic anomalies before earthquakes increases with magnitude. The larger the earthquake magnitude, the more macroscopic anomalies appear. The temporal distribution of macroscopic anomalies is as follows: There are few macroscopic anomalies at beginning; as time goes on,the number of macroscopic anomalies increases; the increase of macroscopic anomaly quantity accelerates with the impending earthquake and reaches a climax when the earthquake breaks out.
