2Preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio plus platelet-to-lymphocyte ratioin predicting survival for patients with stage Ⅰ-Ⅱgastric cancer显示文摘Background:The preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR) and the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio(PLR) are associated with poor prognosis of gastric cancer.We aimed to determine whether the combination of NLR and PLR(NLR-PLR) could better predict survival of patients after curative resection for stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ gastric cancer.Methods:We collected data from the medical records of patients with stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ gastric cancer undergoing curative resection between December 2000 and November 2012 at the Sun Yat-sen Cancer Center.The preoperative NLRPLR was calculated as follows:patients with both elevated NLR(≥2.1) and PLR(≥ 120) were given a score of 2,and patients with only one or neither were given a score of 1 or 0,respectively.Results:Kaplan-Meier analysis and log-rank tests revealed significant differences in overall survival(OS) among patients with NLR-PLR scores of 0,1 and 2(P < 0.001).Multivariate analysis showed that OS was independently associated with the NLR-PLR score[hazard ratio(HR) = 1.51,95%confidence interval(CI) 1.02-2.24,P = 0.039]and TNM stage(HR = 1.36,95%CI 1.01-1.83,P= 0.041).However,other systemic inflammation-based prognostic scores,including the modified Glasgow prognostic score,the prognostic nutritional index,and the combination of platelet count and NLR,were not.In TNM stage-stratified analysis,the prognostic significance of NLR-PLR was maintained in patients with stage Ⅰ(P < 0.001) and stage Ⅱ cancers(P= 0.022).In addition,the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for the NLR-PLR score was higher than those of other systemic inflammation-based prognostic scores(P = 0.001).Conclusion:The preoperative NLR-PLR score is a useful predictor of postoperative survival in the patients with stage l-ll gastric cancer and may help identify high-risk patients for rational therapy and timely follow-up.Xiaowei Sun Xuechao Liu Jianjun Liu Shangxiang Chen Dazhi Xu Wei Li Youqing Zhan Yuanfang Li Yingbo Chen Zhiwei Zhou 2016Chinese Journal of Cancer2016,35,7:25

4Quasi-real-time simulation of rotating drum using discrete element method with parallel GPU computing显示文摘Real-time simulation of industrial equipment is a huge challenge nowadays. The high performance and fine-grained parallel computing provided by graphics processing units (GPUs) bring us closer to our goals. In this article, an industrial-scale rotating drum is simulated using simplified discrete element method (DEM) without consideration of the tangential components of contact force and particle rotation. A single GPU is used first to simulate a small model system with about 8000 particles in realtime, and the simulation is then scaled up to industrial scale using more than 200 GPUs in a 1D domain-decomposition parallelization mode. The overall speed is about 1/11 of the real-time. 5Multichannel vectorial holographic display and encryption显示文摘Since its invention,holography has emerged as a powerful tool to fully reconstruct the wavefronts of light including all the fundamental properties(amplitude,phase,polarization,wave vector,and frequency).For exploring the full capability for information storage/display and enhancing the encryption security of metasurface holograms,smart multiplexing techniques together with suitable metasurface designs are highly demanded.Here,we integrate multiple polarization manipulation channels for various spatial phase profiles into a single birefringent vectorial hologram by completely avoiding unwanted cross-talk.Multiple independent target phase profiles with quantified phase relations that can process significantly different information in different polarization states are realized within a single metasurface.For our metasurface holograms,we demonstrate high fidelity,large efficiency,broadband operation,and a total of twelve polarization channels.Such multichannel polarization multiplexing can be used for dynamic vectorial holographic display and can provide triple protection for optical security.The concept is appealing for applications of arbitrary spin to angular momentum conversion and various phase modulation/beam shaping elements.Ruizhe Zhao Basudeb Sain Qunshuo Wei Chengchun Tang Xiaowei Li Thomas Weiss Lingling Huang Yongtian Wang Thomas Zentgraf 2018Light(Science & Applications)2018,7,1:15
6Direct numerical simulation of particle-fluid systems by combining time-driven hard-sphere model and lattice Boltzmann method显示文摘A coupled numerical method for the direct numerical simulation of particle-fluid systems is formulated and implemented,resolving an order of magnitude smaller than particle size.The particle motion is described by the time-driven hard-sphere model,while the hydrodynamic equations governing fluid flow are solved by the lattice Boltzmann method(LBM).Particle-fluid coupling is realized by an immersed boundary method(IBM),which considers the effect of boundary on surrounding fluid as a restoring force added to the governing equations of the fluid.The proposed scheme is validated in the classical flow-around-cylinder simulations,and preliminary application of this scheme to fluidization is reported,demonstrating it to be a promising computational strategy for better understanding complex behavior in particle-fluid systems.Limin Wang Guofeng Zhou Xiaowei Wang Qingang xiong Wei Ge 2010Particuology2010,8,4:12
7Catalytic oxidation of soot particulates over MnO_x-CeO_2 oxides prepared by complexation-combustion method显示文摘MnOx-CeO2 oxides prepared by complexation-combustion method were used for soot oxidation. The highest conversion rate of soot was obtained on a MnOx-CeO2 oxide prepared under mild acid condition of pH = 4, where the oxidation temperature corresponding to maximum activity was decreased more than 150℃ compared with that of un-catalytic soot oxidation. The structure and property of the catalysts were investigated by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and temperature programmed reduction (TPR). The results indicated that there were at least two kinds of Mn species present in MnOx-CeO2 catalysts, i.e. Mn ions within CeO2 lattice and high dispersion MnOx on the surface of CeO2. The presence of Mn ions in the CeO2 lattice improved the oxygen vacancy due to the charge difference, and the CeO2 considerably decreased the reduction temperature of MnOx. 8Why Was the Strengthening of Rainfall in Summer over the Yangtze River Valley in 2016 Less Pronounced than that in 1998 under Similar Preceding El Nino Events?Role of Midlatitude Circulation in August显示文摘It is widely recognized that rainfall over the Yangtze River valley(YRV) strengthens considerably during the decaying summer of El Ni ?no,as demonstrated by the catastrophic flooding suffered in the summer of 1998.Nevertheless,the rainfall over the YRV in the summer of 2016 was much weaker than that in 1998,despite the intensity of the 2016 El Nio having been as strong as that in 1998.A thorough comparison of the YRV summer rainfall anomaly between 2016 and 1998 suggests that the difference was caused by the sub-seasonal variation in the YRV rainfall anomaly between these two years,principally in August.The precipitation anomaly was negative in August 2016—different to the positive anomaly of 1998.Further analysis suggests that the weaker YRV rainfall in August 2016 could be attributable to the distinct circulation anomalies over the midlatitudes.The intensified 'Silk Road Pattern' and upper-tropospheric geopotential height over the Urals region,both at their strongest since 1980,resulted in an anticyclonic circulation anomaly over midlatitude East Asia with anomalous easterly flow over the middle-to-lower reaches of the YRV in the lower troposphere.This easterly flow reduced the climatological wind,weakened the water vapor transport,and induced the weaker YRV rainfall in August 2016,as compared to that in 1998.Given the unique sub-seasonal variation of the YRV rainfall in summer 2016,more attention should be paid to midlatitude circulation—besides the signal in the tropics—to further our understanding of the predictability and variation of YRV summer rainfall.chaofan li wei chen xiaowei hong riyu lu 2017Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2017,34,11:10
9Noninvasive Ultrasound Deep Brain Stimulation for the Treatment of Parkinson’s Disease Model Mouse显示文摘Modulating basal ganglia circuitry is of great signifcance in the improvement of motor function in Parkinson’s disease(PD).Here,for the frst time,we demonstrate that noninvasive ultrasound deep brain stimulation(UDBS)of the subthalamic nucleus(STN)or the globus pallidus(GP)improves motor behavior in a subacute mouse model of PD induced by 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine(MPTP).Immunohistochemical c-Fos protein expression confrms that there is a relatively high level of c-Fos expression in the STN-UDBS and GP-UDBS group compared with sham group(both p<0.05).Furthermore,STN-UDBS or GPUDBS signifcantly increases the latency to fall in the rotarod test on day 9(p<0.05)and decreases the time spent climbing down a vertical rod in the pole test on day 12(p<0.05).Moreover,our results reveal that STN-UDBS or GP-UDBS protects the dopamine(DA)neurons from MPTP neurotoxicity by downregulating Bax(p<0.001),upregulating Bcl-2(p<0.01),blocking cytochrome c(Cyt C)release from mitochondria(p<0.05),and reducing cleaved-caspase 3 activity(p<0.01)in the ipsilateral substantia nigra(SN).Additionally,the safety of ultrasound stimulation is characterized by hematoxylin and eosin(HE)and Nissl staining;no hemorrhage or tissue damage is detected.Tese data demonstrate that UDBS enables modulation of STN or GP neural activity and leads to neuroprotection in PD mice,potentially serving as a noninvasive strategy for the clinical treatment of PD.Hui Zhou Lili Niu Long Meng Zhengrong Lin Junjie Zou Xiangxiang Xia Xiaowei Huang Wei Zhou Tianyuan Bian Hairong Zheng 2019Research2019,,1:9
10Parallelizing of macro-scale pseudo-particle modeling for particle-fluid systems显示文摘A parallel algorithm suitable for simulating multi-sized particle systems and multi- phase fluid systems is proposed based on macro-scale pseudo-particle modeling (MaPPM). The algorithm employs space-decomposition of the computational load among the processing ele- ments (PEs) and multi-level cell-subdivision technique for particle indexing. In this algorithm, a 2D gas-solid system is simulated with the temporal variations of drags on solids, inter-phase slip velocities and solids concentration elaborately monitored. 11Efficient parallel implementation of the lattice Boltzmann method on large clusters of graphic processing units显示文摘Many-core processors, such as graphic processing units (GPUs), are promising platforms for intrinsic parallel algorithms such as the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM). Although tremendous speedup has been obtained on a single GPU compared with mainstream CPUs, the performance of the LBM for multiple GPUs has not been studied extensively and systematically. In this article, we carry out LBM simulation on a GPU cluster with many nodes, each having multiple Fermi GPUs. Asynchronous execution with CUDA stream functions, OpenMP and non-blocking MPI communication are incorporated to improve efficiency. The algorithm is tested for two-dimensional Couette flow and the results are in good agreement with the analytical solution. For both the oneand two-dimensional decomposition of space, the algorithm performs well as most of the communication time is hidden. Direct numerical simulation of a two-dimensional gas-solid suspension containing more than one million solid particles and one billion gas lattice cells demonstrates the potential of this algorithm in large-scale engineering applications. 13Composition optimized trimetallic PtNiRu dendritic nanostructures as I versatile and active electrocatalysts for alcohol oxidation显示文摘Platinum-based nano crystals are the most effective electrocatalysts for accelerati ng the chemical tran sformatio ns on the anode in direct alcohol fuel cells. To facilitate practical applications and overcome the drawbacks of diverse alcohols, it is significant to develop electrocatalysts with high activities and a wide fuel flexibility. Here, we demonstrate a practicable solution method for fabricating composition tun able trimetallic PtNiRu den dritic nano structures (DNSs) which can serve as versatile and active catalysts for electrooxidatio n of a variety of liquid alcohols. A series of trimetallic DNSs with tun able Pt/Ni/Ru atomic ratios were successfully syn thesized by simply adjusti ng the feeding of precursors. Detailed electrochemical test indicates that, among other compositions, the Pt66Ni27Ru7 DNSs present much superior electroactivity in catalyzing electrooxidation of liquid alcohols in acidic mediums. Specifically, the mass activity and specific activity on the Pt66Ni27Ru7 DNSs, for electrooxidation of methanol, ethanol, and ethylene glycol, are 4.57 and 4.34 times, 3.55 and 3.42 times, and 2.37 and 2.28 times that of the commercial Pt black, respectively. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and CO stripping studies reveal the adsorption of CO on these PtNiRu DNSs is much weaker than on pure Pt. Meanwhile, the surface Ru sites can provide neighbouring -OH groups to facilitate the oxidati on and removal of the adsorbed in termediates (-CO) on the surface Pt sites, effectively improvi ng the CO tolera nee of the catalysts. 14A Robust Graph Optimization Realization of Tightly Coupled GNSS/INS Integrated Navigation System for Urban Vehicles显示文摘This paper describes a robust integrated positioning method to provide ground vehicles in urban environments with accurate and reliable localization results. The localization problem is formulated as a maximum a posteriori probability estimation and solved using graph optimization instead of Bayesian filter. Graph optimization exploits the inherent sparsity of the observation process to satisfy the real-time requirement and only updates the incremental portion of the variables with each new incoming measurement. Unlike the Extended Kalman Filter(EKF) in a typical tightly coupled Global Navigation Satellite System/Inertial Navigation System(GNSS/INS)integrated system, optimization iterates the solution for the entire trajectory. Thus, previous INS measurements may provide redundant motion constraints for satellite fault detection. With the help of data redundancy, we add a new variable that presents reliability of GNSS measurement to the original state vector for adjusting the weight of corresponding pseudorange residual and exclude faulty measurements. The proposed method is demonstrated on datasets with artificial noise, simulating a moving vehicle equipped with GNSS receiver and inertial measurement unit. 15Dominance rank of adult females and mating competition in Sichuan snub-nosed monkeys(Rhinopithecus roxellana)in the Qinling Mountains,China显示文摘Dominance hierarchy reflects resource competition in male primates as well as females.In this study,we collected data on the social rank and mating competition of female Sichuan snub-nosed monkeys from September 2009 to June 2010 in the Qinling Mountains,Shaanxi,China.Displacement was used to determine social hierarchy of the studied wild females.A total of 1223 displacement bouts between adult females and 316 mating behaviors within one-male units(OMUs) were recorded.Competitive displacement among females was very low(0.22 displacements per observation hour).The dominant ranks of females in target OMUs were determined by displacement,from one OMU to another:JB unit:YL > DBC > YCM >XBC > BD;JZT unit:XHW > JG > DT;PK unit:QQ > TM > HF;LP unit:SK > TH > WM.Higher-ranking females performed significantly more sexual behavior than lower-ranking females in this rare monkey.High-ranking females were more likely to win mating contests within those OMUs.Based on these studies,we assessed the social relationships among adult females and clarified possible explanations for the strategies of female mating competition in the OMUs.Furthermore,the notion that reproductive success may also be related to female dominance hierarchies in this polygynous species should be considered in future research.HE HaiXia ZHAO HaiTao QI XiaoGuang WANG XiaoWei GUO SongTao JI WeiHong WANG ChengLiang WEI Wei LI BaoGuo 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,17:5
16Application of the Mole-8.5 supercomputer:Probing the whole influenza virion at the atomic level显示文摘Discrete computer simulations are quite helpful in understanding dynamic structures in complex systems.Recently,using the Mole-8.5 supercomputer and molecular dynamics simulations as a'computational microscope',we simulated the dynamic structure of a whole H1N1 influenza virion in solution for the first time at the atomic level.In total,300 million atoms in a periodic cube with an edge length of 148.5 nm were simulated.Using 288 low level hybrids with 1728 C2050 GPUs and a software package developed specifically for the hardware,the simulation executed 770 ps/d with an integration time step of 1 fs,and analyzed the dynamic structure.With the tremendous computational power of GPUs,efficient software packages for various hardware designs,and consistent physical models,more challenging applications will be carried out in the near future.XU Ji WANG XiaoWei HE XianFeng REN Ying GE Wei LI JingHai 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,20:5

18Desmoglein 2(DSG2) Is A Receptor of Human Adenovirus Type 55 Causing Adult Severe Community-Acquired Pneumonia显示文摘Human adenovirus type 55(HAdV-B55) is a re-emergent acute respiratory disease pathogen that causes adult communityacquired pneumonia(CAP). Previous studies have shown that the receptor of HAdV-B14, which genome is highly similar with HAdV-B55, is human Desmoglein 2(DSG2). However, whether the receptor of HAdV-B55 is DSG2 is undetermined because there are three amino acid mutations in the fiber gene between HAdV-B14 and HAdV-B55. Here, firstly we found the 3T3 cells, a mouse embryo fibroblast rodent cell line which does not express human DSG2, were able to be infected by HAdV-B55 after transfected with pcDNA3.1-DSG2, while normal 3T3 cells were still unsusceptible to HAdV-B55 infection. Next, A549 cells with h DSG2 knock-down by siRNA were hard to be infected by HAdV-B3/-B14/-B55, while the control siRNA group was still able to be infected by all these types of HAdVs. Finally, immunofluorescence confocal microscopy indicated visually that Cy3-conjugated HAdV-B55 viruses entered A549 cells by binding to DSG2 protein.Therefore, DSG2 is a major receptor of HAdV-B55 causing adult CAP. 19HTDet:A Clustering Method Using Information Entropy for Hardware Trojan Detection显示文摘Hardware Trojans(HTs)have drawn increasing attention in both academia and industry because of their significant potential threat.In this paper,we propose HTDet,a novel HT detection method using information entropybased clustering.To maintain high concealment,HTs are usually inserted in the regions with low controllability and low observability,which will result in that Trojan logics have extremely low transitions during the simulation.This implies that the regions with the low transitions will provide much more abundant and more important information for HT detection.The HTDet applies information theory technology and a density-based clustering algorithm called Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise(DBSCAN)to detect all suspicious Trojan logics in the circuit under detection.The DBSCAN is an unsupervised learning algorithm,that can improve the applicability of HTDet.In addition,we develop a heuristic test pattern generation method using mutual information to increase the transitions of suspicious Trojan logics.Experiments on circuit benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of HTDet.Renjie Lu Haihua Shen Zhihua Feng Huawei Li Wei Zhao Xiaowei Li 2021Tsinghua Science and Technology2021,26,1:4

Here we show that a moderate elevation of endogenous abscisic acid(ABA) levels by RNAi-mediated suppression of Os ABA8 ox1(Os ABA8 ox1-kd), a key ABA catabolic gene, significantly increased tolerance to SA stress in rice plants. We produced Os ABA8 ox1-kd lines in two different japonica cultivars, Dongdao 4 and Nipponbare. Compared with nontransgenic control plants(WT), the Os ABA8 ox1-kd seedlings accumulated 25.9%–55.7% higher levels of endogenous ABA and exhibited reduced plasmalemma injury, ROS accumulation and Na;/K;ratio, and higher survival rates, under hydroponic alkaline conditions simulated by 10, 15, and 20 mmol L-1 of Na;CO;. In pot trials using SA field soils of different alkali levels(p H 7.59, 8.86, and 9.29), Os ABA8 ox1–kd plants showed markedly higher seedling survival rates and more vigorous plant growth, resulting in significantly higher yield components including panicle number(85.7%–128.6%), spikelets per panicle(36.9%–61.9%), branches(153.9%–236.7%), 1000–kernel weight(20.0%–28.6%), and percentage of filled spikelets(96.6%–1340.8%) at harvest time. Under severe SA soil conditions(p H = 9.29, EC = 834.4 μS cm-1),Os ABA8 ox1-kd lines showed an 194.5%–1090.8% increase in grain yield per plant relative to WT plants.These results suggest that suppression of Os ABA8 ox1 to increase endogenous ABA levels provides a new molecular approach for improving rice yield in SA paddies.Xiaolong Liu Xianzhi Xie Chongke Zheng Lixing Wei Xiaowei Li Yangyang Jin Guohui Zhang Chang-Jie Jiang Zhengwei Liang 2022The Crop Journal2022,10,2:3
