| 1 | Study on the Mechanism of Zn2SiO4 Formation in S Zorb Sorbents and Its Inhibition Methods显示文摘S Zorb adsorptive desulfurization technology is of great significance on the production of clean gasoline in China, but the formation of Zn_2SiO_4 during the operation in sorbents would bring forth negative impacts on the desulfurization performance and the stability of the processing unit. By using the in-situ TPO, XRD, and IR techniques to study the mechanism of Zn_2SiO_4 formation under operating conditions, it was found that the coexistence of acid and hydrothermal conditions could accelerate the formation of Zn_2SiO_4. | 3 | Apolipoprotein E polymorphism in northern Chinese elderly patients with coronary artery disease显示文摘Background and objective Apolipoprotein E is a constituent of lipoproteins with considerable variation due to cysteine-arginine exchanges. We investigated the relationship between apo E gene polymorphism and the occurrence of coronary artery disease(CAD) in the older population of northern China. Methods The distribution of the HhaI polymorphisms of the apolipoprotein E gene was determined among 55 patients with CAD (CAD group), which was compared with that of 36 elderly subjects without CAD(control group). Results Genotype distributions at both sites (apo E gene 112-bp and 158-bp sites ) were different between the CAD and control groups. The CAD group had lower apolipoprotein E'ε2'frequencies than the control group (P<0.05). | 5 | Association Between Lipid Profiles and Left Ventricular Hypertrophy:New Evidence from a Retrospective Study显示文摘Objective To explore the association between lipid profiles and left ventricular hypertrophy in a Chinese general population.Methods We conducted a retrospective observational study to investigate the relationship between lipid markers[including triglycerides,total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol,high-density lipoprotein(HDL)cholesterol,non-HDL-cholesterol,apolipoprotein A-I,apolipoprotein B,lipoprotein[a],and composite lipid profiles]and left ventricular hypertrophy.A total of 309,400 participants of two populations(one from Beijing and another from nationwide)who underwent physical examinations at different health management centers between 2009 and 2018 in China were included in the cross-sectional study.7,475 participants who had multiple physical examinations and initially did not have left ventricular hypertrophy constituted a longitudinal cohort to analyze the association between lipid markers and the new-onset of left ventricular hypertrophy.Left ventricular hypertrophy was measured by echocardiography and defined as an end-diastolic thickness of the mterventricular septum or left ventricle posterior wall>11 mm.The Logistic regression model was used in the cross-sectional study.Cox model and Cox model with restricted cubic splines were used in the longitudinal cohort.Results In the cross-sectional study for participants in the highest tertile of each lipid marker compared to the respective lowest,triglycerides[odds ratio(OR):1.2S0,95%CI:1.060 to 1.474],HDL-cholesterol(OR:0.780,95%CI:0.662 to 0.918),and lipoprotein(a)(OR:1.311,95%C7:1.115 to 1.541)had an association with left ventricular hypertrophy.In the longitudinal cohort,for participants in the highest tertile of each lipid marker at the baseline compared to the respective lowest,triglycerides[hazard ratio(HR):3.277,95%C/:1.720 to 6.244],HDL-cholesterol(HR:0.516,95%C7:0.283 to 0.940),non-HDL-cholesterol(HR:2.309,95%C/:1.296 to 4.112),apolipoprotein B(HR:2.244,95%CI:1.251 to 4.032)showed an association with new-onset left ventricular hypertrophy.In the Cox model with forward stepwise selection,triglycerides were the only lipid markers entered into the final model.Conclusion Lipids levels,especially triglycerides,are associated with left ventricular hypertrophy.Controlling triglycerides level potentiate to be a strategy in harnessing cardiac remodeling but deserve to be furdier investigated. | Xuewei Huang Keqiong Deng Juanjuan Qin Fang Lei Xingyuan Zhang Wenxin Wang Lijin Lin Yuming Zheng Dongai Yao Huiming Lu Feng Liu Lidong Chen Guilan Zhang Yueping Liu Qiongyu Yang Jingjing Cai Zhigang She Hongliang Li | 2022 | Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2022,37,2: | 1 |

| 7 | Terahertz bound states in the continuum with incident angle robustness induced by a dual period metagrating显示文摘Metasurface-empowered bound state in the continuum(BIC)provides a unique route for fascinating functional devices with infinitely high quality factors.This method is particularly attractive to the terahertz community because it may essentially solve the deficiencies in terahertz filters,sensors,lasers,and nonlinear sources.However,most BIC metasurfaces are limited to specified incident angles that seriously dim their application prospects.Here,we propose that a dual-period dielectric metagrating can support multiple families of BICs that originate from guided mode resonances in the dielectric grating and exhibit infinite quality factors at arbitrarily tilted incidence.This robustness was analyzed based on the Bloch theory and verified at tilted incident angles.We also demonstrate that inducing geometric asymmetry is an efficient way to manipulate the leakage and coupling of these BICs,which can mimic the electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT)effect in our dual-period metagrating.In this demonstration,a slow-light effect with a measured group delay of 117 ps was achieved.The incidence-insensitive BICs proposed here may greatly extend the application scenarios of the BIC effect.The high Q factor and outstanding slow-light effect in the metagrating show exciting prospects in realizing high-performance filters,sensors,and modulators for prompting terahertz applications. | Wenqiao Shi Jianqiang Gu Xingyuan Zhang Quan Xu Jiaguang Han Quanlong Yang Longqing Cong Weili Zhang | 2022 | Photonics Research2022,10,3: | 1 |

| 16 | Impacts of tropical cyclones and anthropogenic activities on marine vanadium: A unique perspective from high resolution Porites coral record显示文摘As a typical contaminant in fossil fuels,vanadium has undergone dramatically increase due to the impacts from human activities.The excessive anthropogenic vanadium emissions have altered natural geochemical processes.However,research on vanadium geochemistry in the ocean,which is the major sink for vanadium mobilized on land,has lagged much behind relative to those of other contaminants.Here we reconstruct historical patterns of vanadium in surface seawater utilizing a high-resolution temporal record(1984–2015 CE)of geochemical proxies(vanadium/calcium(V/Ca),δ^(18)O,δ^(13)C,etc.)in a Porites coral colony from an offshore non-estuarine island in the northern South China Sea(SCS).We find a close association between the surface winds and the temporal patterns of coral V/Ca ratios,revealing great potential for documenting prehistoric changes in tropical cyclones.Moreover,the coral V/Ca record remarkably captured the temporal patterns of anthropogenic activities,offering a valuable and novel tool for testing the efficacy of specific legislation on pollution prevention.Combined with the other reported coral vanadium data,we recovered the historical changes in vanadium emissions in the northern SCS and identified that changing industrial practices should be responsible for the differences in anthropogenic vanadium emissions at each stage.Our results demonstrated that the coral V/Ca ratio at a high temporal resolution has great potential as a new and direct geochemical proxy for tropical cyclones after removing artificial disturbances in the ocean. | Wei JIANG Xingyuan WU Kefu YU Haodan YANG Shendong XU Ning WANG Yangyang YONG Yinan SUN Chaoshuai WEI Yinghui WANG | 2022 | Science China Earth Sciences2022,65,12: | 0 |

| 18 | GLUL stabilizes N-Cadherin by antagonizing β-Catenin to inhibit the progresses of gastric cancer显示文摘Glutamate-ammonia ligase(GLUL, also known as glutamine synthetase) is a crucial enzyme that catalyzes ammonium and glutamate into glutamine in the ATP-dependent condensation. Although GLUL plays a critical role in multiple cancers, the expression and function of GLUL in gastric cancer remain unclear. In the present study, we have found that the expression level of GLUL was significantly lower in gastric cancer tissues compared with adjacent normal tissues, and correlated with N stage and TNM stage, and low GLUL expression predicted poor survival for gastric cancer patients. Knockdown of GLUL promoted the growth, migration, invasion and metastasis of gastric cancer cells in vitro and in vivo, and vice versa, which was independent of its enzyme activity. Mechanistically, GLUL competed with β-Catenin to bind to N-Cadherin, increased the stability of N-Cadherin and decreased the stability of β-Catenin by alerting their ubiquitination. Furthermore, there were lower N-Cadherin and higher β-Catenin expression levels in gastric cancer tissues compared with adjacent normal tissues. GLUL protein expression was correlated with that of N-Cadherin, and could be the independent prognostic factor in gastric cancer.
