2The role of β18-β19 loop structure in insecticidal activity of Cry1Ac toxin from Bacillus thuringiensis显示文摘The β18-β19 loop in domain III of Cry1Ac toxin is unique among Bacillus thuringiensis Cry proteins. In this study, the role of the loop structure in insecticidal activity of Cry1Ac toxin was investigated. Alanine scanning mutations within the loop were initially generated and most mutants were over-expressed and reduced toxicity at different degrees, except mutant N546A that showed almost 2 times enhanced toxicity against Helicoverpa armigera larvae. Further mutagenic analysis of N546 revealed that a charged amino acid in this position would cause very unfavorable influence on insecticidal activity. In addition, the deletion of N546 led to protein instability because of destruction of the loop integrity. Besides, mutant W544F was much more toxic than W544Y, indicating that hydrophobic nature of the position was important for maintaining the stability and activity of Cry1Ac protein. 3QTL analysis across multiple environments reveals promising chromosome regions associated with yield-related traits in maize under drought conditions显示文摘Drought is one of the most critical abiotic stresses influencing maize yield. Improving maize cultivars with drought tolerance using marker-assisted selection requires a better understanding of its genetic basis. In this study, a doubled haploid(DH) population consisting of 217 lines was created by crossing the inbred lines Han 21(drought-tolerant) and Ye 478(drought-sensitive). The population was genotyped with a 6 K SNP assay and 756 SNP(single nucleotide polymorphism) markers were used to construct a linkage map with a length of 1344 c M. Grain yield(GY), ear setting percentage(ESP), and anthesis–silking interval(ASI) were recorded in seven environments under well-watered(WW) and water-stressed(WS) regimes. High phenotypic variation was observed for all traits under both water regimes. Using the LSMEAN(least-squares mean) values from all environments for each trait, 18 QTL were detected, with 9 associated with the WW and 9 with the WS regime. Four chromosome regions,Chr. 3: 219.8–223.7 Mb, Chr. 5: 191.5–194.7 Mb, Chr. 7: 132.2–135.6 Mb, and Chr. 10: 88.2–89.4 Mb, harbored at least 2 QTL in each region, and QTL co-located in a region inherited favorable alleles from the same parent. A set of 64 drought-tolerant BC_3F_6 lines showed preferential accumulation of the favorable alleles in these four regions, supporting an association between the four regions and maize drought tolerance. QTL-by-environment interaction analysis revealed 28 ed QTL(environment-dependent QTL) associated with the WS regime and 22 associated with the WW regime for GY, ESP, and ASI. All WS QTL and55.6% of WW QTL were located in the ed QTL regions. 4Completely spin-decoupled geometric phase of a metasurface显示文摘Metasurfaces have provided an unprecedented degree of freedom(DOF)in the manipulation of electromagnetic waves.A geometric phase can be readily obtained by rotating the meta-atoms of a metasurface.Nevertheless,such geometric phases are usually spin-coupled,with the same magnitude but opposite signs for left-and right-handed circularly polarized(LCP and RCP)waves.To achieve independent control of LCP and RCP waves,it is crucial to obtain spin-decoupled geometric phases.In this paper,we propose to obtain completely spin-decoupled geometric phases by engineering the surface current paths on meta-atoms.Based on the rotational Doppler effect,the rotation manner is first analyzed,and it is found that the generation of a geometric phase lies in the rotation of the surface current paths on meta-atoms.Since the induced surface current paths under the LCP and RCP waves always start oppositely and are mirror-symmetrical with each other,it is natural that the geometric phases have the same magnitude and opposite signs when the meta-atoms are rotated.To obtain spin-decoupled geometric phases,the induced surface current under one spin should be rotated by one angle while the current under the other spin is rotated by a different angles.In this way,LCP and RCP waves can acquire different geometric phase changes.Proof-of-principle prototypes were designed,fabricated,and measured.Both the simulation and experiment results verify spin-decoupled geometric phases.This work provides a robust means to obtain a spindependent geometric phase and can be readily extended to higher frequency bands such as the terahertz,IR,and optical regimes.XINMIN FU JIE YANG JIAFU WANG YAJUAN HAN CHANG DING TIANSHUO QIU BINGYUE QU LEI LI YONGFENG LI SHAOBO QU 2023Photonics Research2023,11,7:1
5Remotely mind-controlled metasurface via brainwaves显示文摘The power of controlling objects with mind has captivated a popular fascination to human beings.One possible path is to employ brain signal collecting technologies together with emerging programmable metasurfaces(PM),whose functions or operating modes can be switched or customized via on-site programming or pre-defined software.Nevertheless,most of existing PMs are wire-connected to users,manually-controlled and not real-time.Here,we propose the concept of remotely mind-controlled metasurface(RMCM)via brainwaves.Rather than DC voltage from power supply or AC voltages from signal generators,the metasurface is controlled by brainwaves collected in real time and transmitted wirelessly from the user.As an example,we demonstrated a RMCM whose scattering pattern can be altered dynamically according to the user’s brain waves via Bluetooth.The attention intensity information is extracted as the control signal and a mapping between attention intensity and scattering pattern of the metasurface is established.With such a framework,we experimentally demonstrated and verified a prototype of such metasurface system which can be remotely controlled by the user to modify its scattering pattern.This work paves a new way to intelligent metasurfaces and may find applications in health monitoring,5G/6G communications,smart sensors,etc.Ruichao Zhu Jiafu Wang Tianshuo Qiu Yajuan Han Xinmin Fu Yuzhi Shi Xingsi Liu Tonghao Liu Zhongtao Zhang Zuntian Chu Cheng‑Wei Qiu Shaobo Qu 2022eLight2022,2,1:1

7Ecological Characteristics of Phytoplankton in Qinhuangdao Waters during Red Tide Period显示文摘The spatio-temporal distribution of phytoplankton is influenced by physical and chemical factors such as water temperature,salinity,dissolved oxygen,Ph and nutrients.Nitrogen(N) and phosphorus(P) are essential for the growth of phytoplankton,which play a key role in determining the abundance of phytoplankton.The species composition,community similarity and diversity of phytoplankton affect the structure and function of ocean ecosystems.Marine phytoplankton can be used as a rapid and sensitive indicator reflecting environmental changes.The offshore area of Qinhuangdao is a spawning and feeding ground for fish,shrimp and crabs.However,this region has experienced an increase in frequency of red tides as a result of pollution and marine development.In 2010,red tides began in late May and ended in August.We evaluated the species composition,spatio-temporal distribution,community structure of phytoplankton and the relationship between phytoplankton abundance and environmental factors based on data collected from May to September in 2010.The phytoplankton,belonging to 96 species,46 genera,were identified.The phytoplankton community was primarily composed of Bacillariophyta and Pyrrophyta.The majority were neritic species or eurythermal and euryhaline cosmopolitan species,while the remainders were oceanic warm species or pelagic species.The dominant species included Noctiluca scintillans,Rhizosolenia stolterfothii,Chaetoceros spp.,Coscinodiscus spp.,and Bacteriastrum spp..A total of 48 red tide causative species were observed,accounting for 50%of total phytoplankton species.The average phytoplankton abundance ranged from 6.20 × 10 cells/m^3 to 4 129.53 × 10 cells/m^3.Abundance peaked in September2010 and reached the lowest value in July 2010.The diversity index values were all greater than 1.0,suggested that biodiversity and community structure was healthy.The highest indices of community structure and biodiversity were observed in September,and biodiversity was the lowest in June.The community similarity of phytoplankton was relatively high and the similarity range was 40%-70%from May to September.The community similarity of phytoplankton successively were September > July > August > May > June.The average abundance of phytoplankton had significant negative correlation with salinity(r =-0.734,P < 0.01,N=37) and significant positive correlation with inorganic nitrogen nutrients(r =0.753,P <0.01,N = 37).We concluded that inorganic nitrogen was the primary factor explaining the increase in phytoplankton abundance during the survey period.A canonical correspondence analysis of the relationship between phytoplankton species and environmental factors indicated that N / P,salinity,nitrate,silicate,nitrite and water temperature were the main environmental factors influencing community structure of phytoplankton in Qinhuangdao waters.Mu Jiandong Zheng Xiangrong Zhao Zhenliang Fu Zhong Wu Xinmin Xi Yanjuan Zhao Chunlong 2015Animal Husbandry and Feed Science2015,7,5:0

9Skin electrodes transduced signals to the bladder resulting in ameliorated hypomotility in a rabbit model of diabetes显示文摘Electric signals from a chest skin electrode can be conducted to the heart and activate contraction. In the present study, normal and diabetic rabbits were stimulated by skin electrode on the abnormal bladder projection area using three levels of exporting voltage (5.84 V, 8.00 V, and 11.00 V). Results demonstrated significantly attenuated electric signals from both groups, in particular the diabetes group. The skin electrode signals were conducted to the bladders, and all vesical signals increased according to strength of stimulating signals from the skin electrode. However, vesical signals from diabetic rabbits were less than those from normal rabbits at the same stimulating strength of exporting voltage. Vesical pressures from the two groups increased along with increased vesical signals, but vesical pressure was less those from diabetic rabbits than in normal rabbits (basic status and different stimulating levels). Linear correlation analysis showed a significantly positive correlation between vesical pressure and signal.
