1Immune response,stress resistance and bacterial challenge in juvenile rainbow trouts Oncorhynchus mykiss fed diets containing chitosan-oligosaccharides显示文摘Effects of dietary supplementation of chitosan-oligosaccharides(COS)on the growth performance,immune response,stress resistance,and disease resistance of juvenile rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss were studied.Four experimental diets containing 0,20,40,or 60 mg/kg COS(COS0,COS20,COS40,and COS60,respectively)were fed to juvenile rainbow trout(initial weight=5.2±0.3 g)for 8 weeks.By the end of the feeding trial,representative groups of fish from each dietary treatment were challenged with stressor(30 sec air exposure)and pathogen exposure(intraperitoneal injection with Aeromonas hydrophila).Results showed that supplementation of COS in diets did not affect production performance and body composition of rainbow trout.However,fish fed the COS40 diet demonstrated improved phagocytic activities,respiratory burst activities and decreased serum cortisol level.Additionally,survival following A.hydrophila challenge was significant higher among fish fed the COS-supplemented feeds,although there was no difference based on the level of supplementation.The present study suggests that COS can be used as an immuno-stimulant in rainbow trout feeds.Lin LUO Xuefeng CAI Chuan HE Min XUE Xiufeng WU Haining CAO 2009Current Zoology2009,55,6:22
2In vitro differentiation of adipose-derived stem cells and bone marrow-derived stromal stem cells into neuronal-like cells显示文摘Adipose-derived stem cells and bone marrow-derived stromal stem cells were co-cultured with untreated or Aβ1-40-treated PC12 cells, or grown in supernatant derived from untreated or Aβ1-40-treated PC12 cells. Analysis by western blot and quantitative real-time PCR showed that protein levels of Nanog, Oct4, and Sox2, and mRNA levels of miR/125a/3p were decreased, while expression of insulin-like growth factor-2 and neuron specific enolase was increased. In comparison, the generation of neuron specific enolase-positive cells was most successful when adipose-derived stem cells were co-cultured with Aβ1-40-treated PC12 cells. Our results demonstrate that adipose-derived stem cells and bone marrow-derived stromal stem cells exhibit trends of neuronal-like cell differentiation after co-culture with Aβ1-40-treated PC12 cells. 3Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. 6Shape ratio effects on the mechanical characteristics of rectangular prism rocks and isolated pillars under uniaxial compression显示文摘Isolated pillars in underground mines are subjected to uniaxial stress,and the load bearing cross-section of pillars is commonly rectangularly shaped.In addition,the uniaxial compression test(UCT)is widely used for determining the basic mechanical properties of rocks and revealing the mechanism of isolated pillar disasters under unidimensional stress.The shape effects of rock mechanical properties under uniaxial compression are mainly quantitatively reflected in the specific shape ratios of rocks.Therefore,it is necessary to study the detailed shape ratio effects on the mechanical properties of rectangular prism rock specimens and isolated pillars under uniaxial compressive stress.In this study,granite,marble and sandstone rectangular prism specimens with various height to width ratios(r)and width to thickness ratios(u)were prepared and tested.The study results show that r and u have a great influence on the bearing ability of rocks,and thin or high rocks have lower uniaxial compressive strength.Reducing the level of r can enhance the u effect on the strength of rocks,and increasing the level of u can enhance the r effect on the strength of rocks.The lateral strain on the thickness side of the rock specimen is larger than that on the width side,which implies that crack growth occurs easily on the thickness side.Considering r and u,a novel strength prediction model of isolated pillars was proposed based on the testing results,and the prediction model was used for the safety assessment of 179 isolated pillars in the Xianglu Mountain Tungsten Mine.Kun Du Xuefeng Li Rui Su Ming Tao Shizhan Lv Jia Luo Jian Zhou 2022International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2022,32,2:5
7Kinetics study on leaching of rare earth and aluminum from polishing powder waste using hydrochloric acid显示文摘In this study,a novel hydrometallurgical process consisting of hydrochloric acid three-stage countercurrent leaching and solvent extraction was proposed to recover rare earth oxide(REO)from the rare earth polishing powder waste(REPPW).The effects of HCl concentration,liquid-solid ratio(L/S ratio),temperature and time on the leaching yields of rare earths(in REO)and aluminum(in Al2O3)were studied.The result shows that the leaching yields of REO and Al2O3 are 90.96%and 43.89%respectively under the optimum leaching parameters of HCl concentration=8.00 mol/L,L/S ratio=4 mL/g,leaching temperature=353 K and leaching time=180 min.Meanwhile,the leaching kinetics of REO and Al2O3 were investigated in this study.The leaching behaviors of REO and Al2O3 follow a shrinking sphere/core model and the general leaching process is controlled by the surface chemical reaction.The leaching activation energies of REO and Al2O3 are 9.86 and 13.68 kJ/mol,respectively.The leaching yield of each substance in three-stage countercurrent leaching is improved substantially compared with single-stage leaching,with a change from 90.96%to 95.38%for REO and from 43.89%to 46.22%for Al2O3,respectively.Especially,the total concentration of REO in three-stage countercurrent leaching solution is greatly increased to above 300 g/L,and the acidity of which is decreased to ca.pH=2,which is conducive to subsequent solvent extraction directly.High purity REO(99.92%)is obtained by solvent extraction separation,oxalate precipitation and calcination.The total recovery yield of REO is 85.13%.Xitao Wu Zhijian Wang Chuping Xia Xuefeng Shi Tianzong Luo Xinjun Bao Rongli Liu Shengzhong Xie 2020Journal of Rare Earths2020,38,9:3
8Ultrastructure of focal cerebral cortex tissue from rats with focal cortical dysplasia显示文摘BACKGROUND: Developing a model of focal cortical dysplasia in microgyrus and observing the ultrastructure of focal tissue is of important significance for analyzing the pathology of cortical developmental disorder and the factors of structural changes. OBJECTIVE: This study was to observe the pathological characteristics of focal tissue around the microgyrus of rats with cortical developmental disorder using an electron microscope, so as to analyze the causes associated with cerebral cortical developmental disorder. DESIGN: A randomized controlled animal experiment. SETTING: The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. MATERIALS: This study was carried out in the Chongqing Key Laboratory of Neurology, Room for Electron Microscope of Chongqing Medical University, and Laboratory Animal Center, Research Institute of Surgery, Daping Hospital, Third Military Medical University of Chinese PLA between January 2004 and August 2006. Eighteen healthy newborn male Wistar rats, weighing 3.0-6.0 g, provided by the Laboratory Animal Center, Daping Hospital, Third Military Medical University of Chinese PLA, were involved in this study. The protocol was carried out in accordance with animal ethics guidelines for the use and care of animals. Probes (Chongqing Wire & Cable Factory, China) were made of copper core wire with diameter of 1 mm. METHODS: The rats were randomly divided into 3 groups with 6 in each: normal control group, liquid nitrogen injured group and sham-operation group. ①In the liquid nitrogen injured group, a blunt probe frozen by liquid nitrogen was placed on fronto-parietal crinial bone of rats for 8 s. A 3-5 cm of microgyrus was induced in the unilateral cerebral sensory cortical area. In the sham-operation group, probe was placed at the room temperature. In the normal control group, rats were untouched. ② The conscious state and electrical activity of brain of rats in each group were observed. ③ 2-3 mm thickness of hippocampal tissue with coronary section was taken for observing its ultrastructure under a transmission electron microscope. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① The ultrastructure of hippocampal tissue. ②The conscious state and electrical activity of brain of rats. RESULTS: Eighteen rats were enrolled in the final analysis. ① Observation of hippocampal ultrastructure: Electromicroscopic pathological findings showed that for each rat of the liquid nitrogen injured group, mitochondrium in the pyramidal neuron around the microgyrus was swelled, endoplasmic reticulum was expanded, glial cells were swelled, water gathered around the blood capillary, partial medullary sheath was degenerated, neuropilem was normal and no obviously abnormal synapse was found. ② Changes in conscious state of rats: Rats in the normal control group and sham-operation group had no convulsive seizure, but those in the liquid nitrogen injured group had occasionally. Most of them showed increased activities, excitation and restlessness, scratching and frequent ' watching face-like activities'. ③Electrical activity of brain of rats: Electroencephalogram recording of liquid nitrogen injured group showed that small wave amplitude of rhythm took the main part. No typical sharp wave, V wave, sharp and slow wave, V and slow waves were discharged. CONCLUSION: Liquid nitrogen can lead to cerebral cortical developmental disorder. 9Challenges and strategies in high-accuracy manufacturing of the world’s largest SiC aspheric mirror显示文摘In the process of manufacturing the world’s largest silicon carbide(SiC)aspheric mirror,the primary difficulties are mirror blank preparation,asphere fabrication,and testing,as well as cladding and coating.Specifically,the challenges include the homogeneity of the complicated structure casting,accuracy and efficiency of the fabrication process,print-through effect,fidelity and precision of test procedure,stress and denseness of cladding process,the dynamic range of interferometric measurement,and air turbulence error due to the long optical path.To break through such a barrier of difficulties,we proposed the water-soluble room temperature vanishing mold and gel casting technology,homogeneous microstructure reaction-formed joint technology,nano-accuracy efficient compound fabrication,gravity unloading technology,high-denseness low-defect physical vapor deposition(PVD)Si-cladding technology,test data fusion method,and time-domain averaging method,etc.Based on the proposed technologies and methods,we have accomplished the world’s largest SiC aspheric mirror with a size of φ4.03 m.The impressive performance of the SiC aspheric mirror is validated by the characteristics of the fabricated SiC aspheric mirror.The aerial density of the SiC blank is less than 120 kg/m^(2),surface shape test accuracy is better than 6 nm RMS,thickness inhomogeneity of the cladding layer is less than 5%,and the final surface figure error and roughness are 15.2 nm RMS and 0.8 nm RMS,respectively.Xuejun Zhang Haixiang Hu Xiaokun Wang Xiao Luo Ge Zhang Wenxing Zhao Xiaoyi Wang Zhenyu Liu Ling Xiong Erhui Qi Congcong Cui Yanchao Wang Yingjie Li Xu Wang Longxiang Li Yang Bai Qiang Cheng Zhiyu Zhang Ruigang Li Wa Tang Xuefeng Zeng Weijie Deng Feng Zhang 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,12:3
10Sucrose Secreted by the Engineered Cyanobacterium and Its Fermentability显示文摘The unicellular cyanobacterium, Synechococcus elongatus PCC 7942(Syn7942), synthesizes sucrose as the only compatible solute under salt stress. A series of engineered Syn7942 strains for sucrose production were constructed. The overexpression of the native sps(encoding a natively fused protein of sucrose phosphate synthase SPS and sucrose phosphate phosphatase SPP) in Syn7942 wild type caused a 93% improvement of sucrose productivity. The strain FL130 co-overexpressing sps and csc B(encoding a sucrose transporter) exhibited a 74% higher extracellular sucrose production than that overexpressing csc B only. Both results showed the significant improvement of sucrose productivity by the double functional protein SPS-SPP. Afterwards, FL130 was cultivated under a modified condition, and the cell-free culture medium containing 1.5 g L-1 sucrose was pre-treated with an acid hydrolysis technique. Cultivated with the neutralized hydrolysates as the starting media, two widely used microorganisms, Escherichia coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, showed a comparable growth with that in the control media supplemented with glucose. 11Binding Se into nitrogen-doped porous carbon nanosheets for high-performance potassium storage显示文摘Selenium cathode has been demonstrated as a promising candidate of cathode material for low-cost and high-energy density potassium ion batteries(PIBs).Nevertheless,their applica tions are prevented by poor electrochemical perfor-mance due to the shuttle effect of high-order polyselenides,the sluggish diffu-sion of bigger K+,and the huge volumetric expansion during cycling.In this work,we design a multifunctional Se host(N-HCNS)by grafting ZIF-8 derived microporous carbon onto the surface of N-doped porous carbon nanosheets.The obtained N-HCNS carbon matrix integrates conductivity,captivity,and immobility abilities,which inhibits the polyselenides shuttle,improves the Se utilization,and buffers the volume change during cycling.The 3D hollow car-bon skeleton enhances the infiltration of electrolytes.As an cathode for PIBs,the Se@N-HCNS electrode delivers an unprecedented life-span(260 mAh g1 at 1.0 Ag-1 after 2000 cycles)and exhibits a remarkable rate capacity(339 mAh g at 5.0 Ag-l).Density functional theory(DFT)calculation reveals the effective adsorption of K2Se with pyridine and pyrrole nitrogen dop-ing in carbon matrix.The unique synergetic design of electrode not only gives insight into the reaction mechanism but also highly emphasi zes the potential capabilities of N doped carbon in K-Se batteries.Huijuan Huang Xiao Luo Yu Yao Xuefeng Zhou Yu Jiang ChunliGuo Jiaqin Liu Xiaojun Wu Yan Yu 2021InfoMat2021,3,4:3
12Overview to the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (Insight-HXMT) Satellite显示文摘As China’s first X-ray astronomical satellite, the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (HXMT), which was dubbed as Insight-HXMT after the launch on June 15, 2017, is a wide-band(1-250 ke V) slat-collimator-based X-ray astronomy satellite with the capability of all-sky monitoring in 0.2-3 Me V. 13Main Mechanism for Generating Overpressure in the Paleogene Source Rock Series of the Chezhen Depression,Bohai Bay Basin, China显示文摘The Chezhen depression,located in the south of Bohai Bay Basin,is an oil-producing basin in China. The third and fourth members of the Shahejie Formation(E(s3) and E(s4)) are the main source rock series in the Chezhen depression. Widespread overpressures occurred in the E(s3) and E(s4) from the depths of approximately 2 000 to 4 600 m,with the maximum pressure coefficient of 1.98 from drillstem tests(DST). Among the sonic,resistivity and density logs,sonic-log is the only reliable pressure indicator and can be used to predict the pore pressure with Eaton's method. All the overpressured mudstones in the source rock series have higher acoustic traveltimes compared with normally pressured mudstones at a given depth. The overpressured mudstones in the E(s3) and E(s4) units are characterized by a normal geothermal gradient,high average density values up to 2.5 g/cm^3,strong present-day hydrocarbon generation capability,abundant mature organic matter and high contents of residual hydrocarbons estimated by the Rock-Eval S1 values and chloroform-soluble bitumen 'A' values. All suggest that the dominant mechanism for overpressure in the mudstones of source rock series in the Chezhen depression is hydrocarbon generation. A comparison between the matrix porosity of the normally pressured sandstones and overpressured sandstones,the quantitative evaluation of porosity loss caused by compaction and the conventional thin section inspection demonstrate that the sandstones in the Chezhen depression were normally compacted. 14Synthesis of different-sized gold nanostars for Raman bioimaging and photothermal therapy in cancer nanotheranostics显示文摘Gold nanoparticles(AuNPs) have been attractive for nanomedicine because of their pronounced optical properties.Here,we customerized the methods to synthesize two types of gold nanostars,Au nanostars-1 and Au nanostars-2,which have different spire lengths and optical properties,and also spherical AuNPs.Compared to nanospheres,gold nanostars were less toxic to a variety of cells,including macrophages.Au nanostars-1 and Au nanostars-2 also manifested a similar pattern of tissue distribution upon in vivo administration in mice to that of nanospheres,and but reveled less liver retention than nanospheres.Due to their strong absorption in the near-infrared(NIR),Au nanostars-2 induced a strong hyperthermia effect in vitro upon excitation at 808 nm,and elicited a robust photothermal therapy(PTT) efficacy in ablating tumors in a mouse model of orthotopic breast cancer using 4T1 breast cancer cells.Meanwhile,Au nanostars-1 showed a great capability to enhance the Raman signal through surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy(SERS) in 4T1 cells.Our combined results opened a new avenue to develop Au nanostars for cancer imaging and therapy.Jie Gao Maria Sanchez-Purra Hao Huang ShunhaoWang Yunan Chen Xuefeng Yu Qian Luo Kimberly Hamad-Schifferli Sijin Liu 2017Science China Chemistry2017,60,9:2
15Chemistry,Biosynthesis,and Biological Activity of Halogenated Compounds Produced by Marine Microorganisms显示文摘Natural products derived from marine microorganisms have been received great attention as a potential source of new compound entities for drug discovery.The unique marine environment brings us a large group of halogen-containing natural products with abundant biological functionality and good drugability.Meanwhile,biosynthetically halogenated reactions are known as a significant strategy used to increase the pharmacological activities and pharmacokinetic properties of compounds.Given that a tremendous increase in the number of new halogenated compounds from marine microorganisms in the last five years,it is necessary to summarize these compounds with their diverse structures and promising bioactivities.In this review,we have summarized the chemistry,biosynthesis(related halogenases),and biological activity of a total of 316 naturally halogenated compounds from marine microorganisms covering the period of 2015 to May 2021.Those reviewed chlorinated and brominated compounds with the ratio of 9:1 were predominantly originated from 36 genera of fungi(62%)and 9 bacterial strains(38%)with cytotoxic,antibacterial,and enzyme inhibitory activities,structural types of which are polyketides(38%),alkaloids(27%),phenols(11%),and others.This review would provide a plenty variety of promising lead halogenated compounds for drug discovery and inspire the development of new pharmaceutical agents.Jiamin Wang Xiaoyan Pang Chunmei Chen Chenghai Gao Xuefeng Zhou Yonghong Liu Xiaowei Luo 2022Chinese Journal of Chemistry2022,40,14:1

20Science with the 2.5-meter Wide Field Survey Telescope(WFST)显示文摘The Wide Field Survey Telescope(WFST) is a dedicated photometric surveying facility being built jointly by University of Science and Technology of China(USTC) and the Purple Mountain Observatory(PMO). It is equipped with a 2.5-meter diameter primary mirror, an active optics system, and a mosaic CCD camera with 0.73 gigapixels on the primary focal plane for highquality image capture over a 6.5-square-degree field of view. The installation of WFST near the summit of Saishiteng mountain in the Lenghu region is scheduled in summer of 2023, and the operation is planned to start three months later. WFST will scan the northern sky in four optical bands(u, g, r and i) at cadences from hourly/daily in the deep high-cadence survey(DHS) program, to semi-weekly in the wide field survey(WFS) program. During a photometric night, a nominal 30 s exposure in the WFS program will reach a depth of 22.27, 23.32, 22.84, and 22.31(AB magnitudes) in these four bands, respectively, allowing for the detection of a tremendous amount of transients in the low-z universe and a systematic investigation of the variability of Galactic and extragalactic objects. In the DHS program, intranight 90 s exposures as deep as 23(u) and 24 mag(g), in combination with target of opportunity follow-ups, will provide a unique opportunity to explore energetic transients in demand for high sensitivities, including the electromagnetic counterparts of gravitational wave events, supernovae within a few hours of their explosions,tidal disruption events and fast, luminous optical transients even beyond redshift of unity. In addition, the final 6-year co-added images, anticipated to reach g■25.8 mag in WFS or 1.5 mags deeper in DHS, will be of fundamental importance to general Galactic and extragalactic science. The highly uniform legacy surveys of WFST will serve as an indispensable complement to those of the Vera C.
