1NEECF: a project of nutrient enrichment experiments in China’s forests显示文摘Anthropogenic nitrogen(N)emissions to atmosphere have increased dramatically in China since 1980s,and this increase has aroused great concerns on its ecological impacts on terrestrial ecosystems.Previous studies have showed that terrestrial ecosystems in China are acting as a large carbon(C)sink,but its potential in the future remains largely uncertain.So far little work on the impacts of the N deposition on C sequestration in China’s terrestrial ecosystems has been assessed at a national scale.Aiming to assess and predict how ecological processes especially the C cycling respond to the increasing N deposition in China’s forests,recently researchers from Peking University and their partners have established a manipulation experimental network on the ecological effects of the N deposition:Nutrient Enrichment Experiments in China’s Forests Project(NEECF).The NEECF comprises 10 experiments at 7 sites located from north to south China,covering major zonal forest vegetation in eastern China from boreal forest in Greater Khingan Mountains to tropical forests in Hainan Island.This paper introduces the framework of the NEECF project and its potential policy implications.Enzai Du Zhang Zhou Peng Li Xueyang Hu Yuecun Ma Wei Wang Chengyang Zheng Jianxiao Zhu Jin-Sheng He Jingyun Fang 2013Journal of Plant Ecology2013,6,5:13
2A significant carbon sink in temperate forests in Beijing: based on 20-year field measurements in three stands显示文摘Numerous efforts have been made to characterize forest carbon(C) cycles and stocks in various ecosystems. However, long-term observation on each component of the forest C cycle is still lacking. We measured C stocks and fluxes in three permanent temperate forest plots(birch, oak and pine forest) during 2011–2014, and calculated the changes of the components of the C cycle related to the measurements during 1992–1994 at Mt. Dongling, Beijing, China. Forest net primary production in birch, oak, and pine plots was 5.32, 4.53, and 6.73 Mg C ha?1 a?1, respectively. Corresponding net ecosystem production was 0.12, 0.43, and 3.53 Mg C ha?1 a?1. The C stocks and fluxes in 2011–2014 were significantly larger than those in 1992–1994 in which the biomass C densities in birch, oak, and pine plots increased from 50.0, 37.7, and 54.0 Mg C ha–1 in 1994 to 101.5, 77.3, and 110.9 Mg C ha?1 in 2014; soil organic C densities increased from 207.0, 239.1, and 231.7 Mg C ha?1 to 214.8, 241.7, and 238.4 Mg C ha?1; and soil heterotrophic respiration increased from 2.78, 3.49, and 1.81 Mg C ha?1 a?1 to 5.20, 4.10, and 3.20 Mg C ha?1 a?1. These results suggest that the mountainous temperate forest ecosystems in Beijing have served as a carbon sink in the last two decades. 3Winter soil respiration during soilfreezing process in a boreal forest in Northeast China显示文摘Aims Boreal forest is the largest and contains the most soil carbon among global terrestrial biomes.Soil respiration during the prolonged winter period may play an important role in the carbon cycles in boreal forests.This study aims to explore the characteristics of winter soil respiration in the boreal forest and to show how it is regulated by environmental factors,such as soil temperature,soil moisture and snowpack.Methods Soil respiration in an old-growth larch forest(Larix gmelinii Ruppr.)in Northeast China was intensively measured during the winter soilfreezing process in 2011 using an automated soil CO_(2) flux system.The effects of soil temperature,soil moisture and thin snowpack on soil respiration and its temperature sensitivity were investigated.Important Findings Total soil respiration and heterotrophic respiration both showed a declining trend during the observation period,and no significant difference was found between soil respiration and heterotrophic respiration until the snowpack exceeded 20cm.Soil respiration was exponentially correlated with soil temperature and its temperature sensitivity(Q10 value)for the entire measurement duration was 10.5.Snow depth and soil moisture both showed positive effects on the temperature sensitivity of soil respiration.Based on the change in the Q10 value,we proposed a‘freeze–thaw critical point’hypothesis,which states that the Q10 value above freeze–thaw critical point is much higher than that below it(16.0 vs.3.5),and this was probably regulated by the abrupt change in soil water availability during the soil-freezing process.Our findings suggest interactive effects of multiple environmental factors on winter soil respiration and recommend adopting the freeze–thaw critical point to model soil respiration in a changing winter climate.Enzai Du Zhang Zhou Peng Li Lai Jiang Xueyang Hu Jingyun Fang 2013Journal of Plant Ecology2013,6,5:4
4Antigenicity of tissues and organs from GGTA1/CMAH/β4GalNT2 triple gene knockout pigs显示文摘Clinical xenotransplantations have been hampered by human preformed antibody-mediated damage of the xenografts.To overcome biological incompatibility between pigs and humans,one strategy is to remove the major antigens[Gal,Neu5 Gc,and Sd(a)]present on pig cells and tissues.Triple gene(GGTAI,CMAH,and β4 GalNT2)knockout(TKO)pigs were produced in our laboratory by CRISPR-Cas9 targeting.To investigate the antigenicity reduction in the TKO pigs,the expression levels of these three xenoantigens in the cornea,heart,liver,spleen,lung,kidney,and pancreas tissues were examined.The level of human IgG/IgM binding to those tissues was also investigated,with wildtype pig tissues as control.The results showed that aGal,Neu5 Gc,and Sd(a)were markedly positive in all the examined tissues in wildtype pigs but barely detected in TKO pigs.Compared to wildtype pigs,the liver,spleen,and pancreas of TKO pigs showed comparable levels of human IgG and IgM binding,whereas corneas,heart,lung,and kidney of TKO pigs exhibited significantly reduced human IgG and IgM binding.These results indicate that the antigenicity of TKO pig is significantly reduced and the remaining xenoantigens on porcine tissues can be eliminated via a gene targeting approach.Ronggen Wang Miaomiao Ruan Runjie Zhang Lei Chen Xiaoxue Li Bin Fang Chu Li Xueyang Ren Jiying Liu Qiang Xiong Lining Zhang Yong Jin Lin Li Rongfeng Li Ying Wang Haiyuan Yang Yifan Dai 2019The Journal of Biomedical Research2019,33,4:3
5Establishment of a Spleen Cell Line from Large Yellow Croaker Pseudosciaena crocea and its Primitive Application in Foreign Gene Transfection显示文摘A large yellow croaker,Pseudosciaena crocea,spleen(LYCS)cell line was established and the feasibility of using it for foreign gene transfection was evaluaed in this study.Primary culture of LYCS cells was initiated from spleen tissue pieces,which were cultured at 25℃ in Dulbecco's modiced Eagle medium/F12 medium(DMEM/F12,1:1)(pH7.2),supplemented with 20% fetal bovine serum,carboxymethyl chitosan,chondroitin sulfate,basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF)and insulin-like growth factor-I(IGF-I).The cultured LYCS cells,in fibroblast shape,proliferated to 100% confluency 20 days later.Chromosome analyses indicated that the LYCS cells exhibited chromosomal aneuploidy with a modal chromosome number of 48 which displayed the normal diploid karyotype of P.crocea(6m+6sm+36t,NF=60).A LYCS cell line,with a population doubling time of 48.7 h at passage 60,has been established and subcultured to passage 70.Transgenic feasibility test demonstrated that positive green fluorescence protein(GFP)expression was observed in LYCS cells after pcDNA3.1-GFP plasmid transfection.In conclusion,a continuous foreign gene trans-fection feasible LYCS cell line has been established successfully.The cell line might serve as a valuable tool for studies of transgenic breeding and has potential applications for different kinds of cytotechnological studies.SUN Ai FAN Tingjun YANG Xiuxia XU Bin XU Xiaohui GUO Xueyang 2011Journal of Ocean University of China2011,10,4:3
6Soil Properties and Plant Growth Response to Litter in a Prolonged Enclosed Grassland of Loess Plateau, China显示文摘The enclosure and ungrazing practices for grassland management result in accumulation of plant litter on soil surface thus affecting the available soil water and nutrients for plant production. We experimentally investigated the effects of litter on soil properties and plant growth in a prolonged enclosure grassland of Loess Plateau, China. Three different litter manipulations were conducted including removal of all litter, an untreated in-situ control with original litter levels, and a double litter treatment. Litter treatment experiments demonstrated that plant litter affected the superficial soil water. Soil water content in plots with in-situ or double litter is generally higher than that with litter removal. The depletion of soil water up to five days post rainfall is fastest in litter removal plots for the top soil, but no evident difference for the deep ones. Different litter treatments have no significant impact on soil total carbon, nitrogen as well as carbon/nitrogen ratio for consecutive two years experiments. Both above-and below-ground biomasses in plots of litter removal were less than those in the plots of in-situ and double litter treatment. Litter affects plant production mainly through the mechanical barrier regulating root zone soil moisture. 7Association between TSHR gene polymorphism and the risk of Graves' disease:a meta-analysis显示文摘Thyroid stimulating hormone receptor(TSHR) is thought to be a significant candidate for genetic susceptibility to Graves' disease(GD).However,the association between TSHR gene polymorphism and the risk of GD remains controversial.In this study,we investigated the relationship between the two conditions by meta-analysis.We searched all relevant case-control studies in PubMed,Web of Science,CNKI and Wanfang for literature available until May2015,and chose studies on two single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs):rs 179247 and rsl2101255,within TSHR intron-1.Bias of heterogeneity test among studies was determined by the fixed or random effect pooled measure,and publication bias was examined by modified Begg's and Egger's test.Eight eligible studies with 15 outcomes were involved in this meta-analysis,including 6,976 GD cases and 7,089 controls from China,Japan,Poland,UK and Brazil.Pooled odds ratios(ORs) for allelic comparisons showed that both TSHR rsl79247A/G and rsl2101255T/C polymorphism had significant association with GD(OR=1.422,95%CI=1.353—1.495,P<0.001,P_(heterogeneity)=0.448;OR= 1.502,95%CI:1.410-1.600,P<0.001,P_(heterogeneity)=0.642),and the associations were the same under dominant,recessive and co-dominant models.In subgroup analyses,the conclusions are also consistent with all those in Asian,European and South America subgroups(P<0.001).Our meta-analysis revealed a significant association between TSHR rsl79247A/G and rsl2101255T/C polymorphism with GD in five different populations from Asia,Europe and South America.Further studies are needed in other ethnic backgrounds to independently confirm our findings.Wei Qian Kuanfeng Xu Wenting Jia Ling Lan Xuqin Zheng Xueyang Yang Dai Cui 2016The Journal of Biomedical Research2016,30,6:2
8External application of a Nocardia rubra cell wall skeleton in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers显示文摘Diabetic foot ulcers are one of the most severe complications of diabetes that have imposed great financial and psychological burdens on diabetic patients.A Nocardia rubra cell wall skeleton(Nr-CWS)can be externally applied to accelerate wound healing.However,its clinical application has not yet been reported.Herein,we report two patients with diabetic foot ulcers treated with Nr-CWS.After wound debridement,the wound was covered with a sterile cotton ball infiltrated with an Nr-CWS that was diluted with 2.0 mL of saline.The covers were changed every two days until complete wound healing occurred.The two wounds healed after 3 and 12 weeks,respectively.This article aims to provide a new treatment for diabetic foot ulcers,with the hope that physicians may consider an Nr-CWS as a complementary method for the treatment of chronic wounds.Caiqi Shen Wuhan Wei Aijun Zhang Changbo Tao Xueyang Li Yanping Guo Hanxiao Wei Qiang Li Peisheng Jin 2022Chinese Journal Of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery2022,4,1:2
9Enhanced removal of sulfonamide antibiotics from water by phosphogypsum modified biochar composite显示文摘Antibiotic pollution has become a global eco-environmental issue.To reduce sulfonamide antibiotics in water and improve resource utilization of solid wastes,phosphogypsummodified biochar composite(PMBC)was prepared via facile one-step from distillers grains,wood chips,and phosphogypsum.The physicochemical properties of PMBCwere characterized by scanning electron microscope(SEM),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),Zeta potential,X-ray diffraction(XRD),etc.The influencing factors,adsorption behaviors,and mechanisms of sulfadiazine(SD)and sulfamethazine(SMT)onto PMBC were studied by batch and fixed bed column adsorption experiments.The results showed that the removal rates of SD and SMT increased with the increase of phosphogypsum proportion,while decreased with the increase of solution pH.The maximum adsorption capacities of modified distillers grain and wood chips biochars for SD were 2.98 and 4.18 mg/g,and for SMT were 4.40 and 8.91mg/g,respectively,which was 9.0–22.3 times that of pristine biochar.Fixed bed column results demonstrated that PMBC had good adsorption capacities for SD and SMT.When the solution flow rate was 2.0 mL/min and the dosage of PMBC was 5.0 g,the removal rates of SD and SMT by modified wood chips biochar were both higher than 50%in 4 hr.The main mechanisms of SD and SMT removal by PMBC are hydrogen bonding,π-πdonor-acceptor,electrostatic interaction,and hydrophobic interaction.This study provides an effective method for the removal of antibiotics in water and the resource utilization of phosphogypsum.Zonghong Jiang Miao Chen Xinqing Lee Qianwei Feng Ning Cheng Xueyang Zhang Shengsen Wang Bing Wang 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,8:2
10APOBEC3B and IL-6 form a positive feedback loop in hepatocellular carcinoma cells显示文摘APOBEC3 protein families, a DNA cytidine deaminase, were up-regulated in multiple tumors. However, the relationship between Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and APOBEC3B(A3B) remains unknown. It has been confirmed that interleukin-6(IL-6)has significant impacts on oncogenesis of HCC. Here, we reported that the expression of IL-6 was substantially up-regulated by A3 B in HepG2 cells. A3 B induced IL-6 expression through relocating HuR to enhance the IL-6 mRNA stability. Further analysis indicated that IL-6 also increased the expression of A3 B through JAK1/STAT3 signaling pathway, which formed a positive feedback to maintain the continuous expression of A3 B and IL-6, and thereby promoted the prolonged non-resolving inflammation. 11Silk-based hydrogel incorporated with metal-organic framework nanozymes for enhanced osteochondral regeneration显示文摘Osteochondral defects(OCD)cannot be efficiently repaired due to the unique physical architecture and the pathological microenvironment including enhanced oxidative stress and inflammation.Conventional strategies,such as the control of implant microstructure or the introduction of growth factors,have limited functions failing to manage these complex environments.Here we developed a multifunctional silk-based hydrogel incorporated with metal-organic framework nanozymes(CuTA@SF)to provide a suitable microenvironment for enhanced OCD regeneration.The incorporation of CuTA nanozymes endowed the SF hydrogel with a uniform microstructure and elevated hydrophilicity.In vitro cultivation of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)and chondrocytes showed that CuTA@SF hydrogel accelerated cell proliferation and enhanced cell viability,as well as had antioxidant and antibacterial properties.Under the inflammatory environment with the stimulation of IL-1β,CuTA@SF hydrogel still possessed the potential to promote MSC osteogenesis and deposition of cartilage-specific extracellular matrix(ECM).The proteomics analysis further confirmed that CuTA@SF hydrogel promoted cell proliferation and ECM synthesis.In the full-thickness OCD model of rabbit,CuTA@SF hydrogel displayed successfully in situ OCD regeneration,as evidenced by micro-CT,histology(HE,S/O,and toluidine blue staining)and immunohistochemistry(Col I and aggrecan immunostaining).Therefore,CuTA@SF hydrogel is a promising biomaterial targeted at the regeneration of OCD.Zhicheng Cao Hongmei Wang Jialin Chen Yanan Zhang Qingyun Mo Po Zhang Mingyue Wang Haoyang Liu Xueyang Bao Yuzhi Sun Wei Zhang Qingqiang Yao 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,2:2

17All-metallic metasurfaces towards high-performance magneto-plasmonic sensing devices显示文摘Magneto-plasmonic sensors based on surface plasmon resonance have been studied considerably in recent years,as they feature high sensitivity and ultrahigh resolution.However,the majority of such investigations focus on prism-based sandwich architectures that not only impede the miniaturization of devices but also have a weak transverse magneto-optical Kerr effect(TMOKE)in magnitude.Herein,we theoretically demonstrate a magneto-plasmonic sensor composed of Au/Co bilayer nanodisk arrays on top of optically thick metallic films,which supports a narrow surface plasmon resonance(SPR)with a bandwidth of 7 nm and allows for refractive index sensitivities as high as 717 nm/RIU.Thanks to the high-quality SPR mode,a Fano-like TMOKE spectrum with a subnanometer bandwidth can be achieved in the proposed structure,thereby giving rise to ultrahigh sensing of merit values as large as 7000 in water.Moreover,we demonstrate a large TMOKE magnitude that exceeds 0.6.The value is 1 order of magnitude larger than that of magneto-plasmonic sensors reported.We also demonstrate that the behavior of TMOKE spectra can be controlled by tuning the geometrical parameters of the device including the diameter and thickness of nanodisk arrays.This work provides a promising route for designing magneto-plasmonic sensors based on metasurfaces or metamaterials.Lixia Li Xueyang Zong Yufang Liu 2020Photonics Research2020,8,11:1

20Association of fluid-attenuated inversion recovery vascular hyperintensity with ischaemic events in internal carotid artery or middle cerebral artery occlusion显示文摘Background and purpose Individuals with intracranial artery occlusion have high rates of ischaemic events and recurrence.It has been challenging to identify patients who had high-risk stroke using a simple,valid and non-invasive screening approach.This study aimed to investigate whether fluid-attenuated inversion recovery(FLAIR)vascular hyperintensity(FVH),a specific imaging sign on the FLAIR sequence,could be a predictor of ischaemic events in a population with internal carotid artery(ICA)or middle cerebral artery(MCA)occlusion.Methods We retrospectively analysed 147 patients(mean 60.43±12.83 years)with 149 lesions,including 37 asymptomatic and 112 symptomatic cases of ICA or MCA occlusion.Symptomatic occlusion was considered if ischaemic events were present in the relevant territory within 90 days.FVH Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomography Score(FVH-ASPECTS:0-7,with 0 indicating absence of FVH and 7 suggesting prominent FVH)and collateral circulation grade were assessed for each participant.Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to detect independent markers associated with symptomatic status.Results A lower FVH-ASPECTS was associated with a more favourable collateral circulation grade(rho=−0.464,p<0.0001).The FVH-ASPECTS was significantly lower in the asymptomatic occlusion group than in the symptomatic occlusion group(p<0.0001).FVH-ASPECTS(Odd ratio,2.973;95%confidence interval,1.849 to 4.781;p<0.0001)was independently associated with symptomatic status after adjustment for age,sex,lesion location and collateral circulation grade in the multivariate logistic regression.The area under the curve was 0.861 for the use of FVH-ASPECTS to identify symptomatic occlusion.Conclusions The ability to discriminate symptomatic from asymptomatic occlusion suggests that FVH may be a predictor of stroke.As a simple imaging sign,FVH may serve as a surrogate for haemodynamic impairments and can be used to identify high-risk stroke cases early in ICA or MCA occlusion.Jinhao Lyu Jianxing Hu Xinrui Wang Xiangbing Bian Mengting Wei Liuxian Wang Qi Duan Yina Lan Dekang Zhang Xueyang Wang Tingyang Zhang Chenglin Tian Xin Lou 2023Stroke & Vascular Neurology2023,8,1:1
