NEECF: a project of nutrient enrichment experiments in China’s forests显示文摘Anthropogenic nitrogen(N)emissions to atmosphere have increased dramatically in China since 1980s,and this increase has aroused great concerns on its ecological impacts on terrestrial ecosystems.Previous studies have showed that terrestrial ecosystems in China are acting as a large carbon(C)sink, but its potential in the future remains largely uncertain. So far little work on the impacts of the N deposition on C sequestration in China’s terrestrial ecosystems has been assessed at a national scale.Aiming to assess and predict how ecological processes especially the C cycling respond to the increasing N deposition in China’s forests, recently researchers from Peking University and their partners have established a manipulation experimental network on the ecological effects of the N deposition:Nutrient Enrichment Experiments in China’s Forests Project(NEECF).The NEECF comprises 10 experiments at 7 sites located from north to south China, covering major zonal forest vegetation in eastern China from boreal forest in Greater Khingan Mountains to tropical forests in Hainan Island. This paper introduces the framework of the NEECF project and its potential policy implications. | Enzai Du Zhang Zhou Peng Li Xueyang Hu Yuecun Ma Wei Wang Chengyang Zheng Jianxiao Zhu Jin-Sheng He Jingyun Fang | 2013 | Journal of Plant Ecology2013,6,5: | 13
Winter soil respiration during soilfreezing process in a boreal forest in Northeast China显示文摘Aims Boreal forest is the largest and contains the most soil carbon among global terrestrial biomes.Soil respiration during the prolonged winter period may play an important role in the carbon cycles in boreal forests. This study aims to explore the characteristics of winter soil respiration in the boreal forest and to show how it is regulated by environmental factors, such as soil temperature, soil moisture and snowpack. Methods Soil respiration in an old-growth larch forest(Larix gmelinii Ruppr.)in Northeast China was intensively measured during the winter soilfreezing process in 2011 using an automated soil CO_(2) flux system. The effects of soil temperature, soil moisture and thin snowpack on soil respiration and its temperature sensitivity were investigated.Important Findings Total soil respiration and heterotrophic respiration both showed a declining trend during the observation period, and no significant difference was found between soil respiration and heterotrophic respiration until the snowpack exceeded 20cm.Soil respiration was exponentially correlated with soil temperature and its temperature sensitivity(Q10 value)for the entire measurement duration was 10.5.Snow depth and soil moisture both showed positive effects on the temperature sensitivity of soil respiration.Based on the change in the Q10 value,we proposed a‘freeze–thaw critical point’hypothesis, which states that the Q10 value above freeze–thaw critical point is much higher than that below it(16.0 vs.3.5),and this was probably regulated by the abrupt change in soil water availability during the soil-freezing process. Our findings suggest interactive effects of multiple environmental factors on winter soil respiration and recommend adopting the freeze–thaw critical point to model soil respiration in a changing winter climate. | Enzai Du Zhang Zhou Peng Li Lai Jiang Xueyang Hu Jingyun Fang | 2013 | Journal of Plant Ecology2013,6,5: | 4
Antigenicity of tissues and organs from GGTA1/CMAH/β4GalNT2 triple gene knockout pigs显示文摘Clinical xenotransplantations have been hampered by human preformed antibody-mediated damage of the xenografts. To overcome biological incompatibility between pigs and humans, one strategy is to remove the major antigens[Gal,Neu5 Gc,and Sd(a)]present on pig cells and tissues.Triple gene(GGTAI,CMAH,and β4 GalNT2)knockout(TKO)pigs were produced in our laboratory by CRISPR-Cas9 targeting. To investigate the antigenicity reduction in the TKO pigs, the expression levels of these three xenoantigens in the cornea, heart, liver, spleen, lung, kidney, and pancreas tissues were examined. The level of human IgG/IgM binding to those tissues was also investigated, with wildtype pig tissues as control. The results showed that aGal,Neu5 Gc,and Sd(a)were markedly positive in all the examined tissues in wildtype pigs but barely detected in TKO pigs.Compared to wildtype pigs, the liver, spleen, and pancreas of TKO pigs showed comparable levels of human IgG and IgM binding, whereas corneas, heart, lung, and kidney of TKO pigs exhibited significantly reduced human IgG and IgM binding. These results indicate that the antigenicity of TKO pig is significantly reduced and the remaining xenoantigens on porcine tissues can be eliminated via a gene targeting approach. | Ronggen Wang Miaomiao Ruan Runjie Zhang Lei Chen Xiaoxue Li Bin Fang Chu Li Xueyang Ren Jiying Liu Qiang Xiong Lining Zhang Yong Jin Lin Li Rongfeng Li Ying Wang Haiyuan Yang Yifan Dai | 2019 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2019,33,4: | 3
External application of a Nocardia rubra cell wall skeleton in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers显示文摘Diabetic foot ulcers are one of the most severe complications of diabetes that have imposed great financial and psychological burdens on diabetic patients.A Nocardia rubra cell wall skeleton(Nr-CWS)can be externally applied to accelerate wound healing. However, its clinical application has not yet been reported.Herein,we report two patients with diabetic foot ulcers treated with Nr-CWS.After wound debridement, the wound was covered with a sterile cotton ball infiltrated with an Nr-CWS that was diluted with 2.0 mL of saline. The covers were changed every two days until complete wound healing occurred. The two wounds healed after 3 and 12 weeks, respectively. This article aims to provide a new treatment for diabetic foot ulcers, with the hope that physicians may consider an Nr-CWS as a complementary method for the treatment of chronic wounds. | Caiqi Shen Wuhan Wei Aijun Zhang Changbo Tao Xueyang Li Yanping Guo Hanxiao Wei Qiang Li Peisheng Jin | 2022 | Chinese Journal Of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery2022,4,1: | 2
APOBEC3B and IL-6 form a positive feedback loop in hepatocellular carcinoma cells显示文摘APOBEC3 protein families, a DNA cytidine deaminase, were up-regulated in multiple tumors. However, the relationship between Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and APOBEC3B(A3B) remains unknown. It has been confirmed that interleukin-6(IL-6)has significant impacts on oncogenesis of HCC. Here, we reported that the expression of IL-6 was substantially up-regulated by A3 B in HepG2 cells. A3 B induced IL-6 expression through relocating HuR to enhance the IL-6 mRNA stability. Further analysis indicated that IL-6 also increased the expression of A3 B through JAK1/STAT3 signaling pathway, which formed a positive feedback to maintain the continuous expression of A3 B and IL-6, and thereby promoted the prolonged non-resolving inflammation. Collectively, these findings suggest that A3 B is essential for oncogenesis of HCC, and is a potential target for preventive intervention. | Shuran Li Xueyang Bao Duowei Wang Linjun You Xianjing Li Hongbao Yang Jinsong Bian Yun Wang Yong Yang | 2017 | Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,6: | 2

All-metallic metasurfaces towards high-performance magneto-plasmonic sensing devices显示文摘Magneto-plasmonic sensors based on surface plasmon resonance have been studied considerably in recent years,as they feature high sensitivity and ultrahigh resolution. However, the majority of such investigations focus on prism-based sandwich architectures that not only impede the miniaturization of devices but also have a weak transverse magneto-optical Kerr effect(TMOKE)in magnitude.Herein,we theoretically demonstrate a magneto-plasmonic sensor composed of Au/Co bilayer nanodisk arrays on top of optically thick metallic films, which supports a narrow surface plasmon resonance(SPR)with a bandwidth of 7 nm and allows for refractive index sensitivities as high as 717 nm/RIU.Thanks to the high-quality SPR mode,a Fano-like TMOKE spectrum with a subnanometer bandwidth can be achieved in the proposed structure, thereby giving rise to ultrahigh sensing of merit values as large as 7000 in water. Moreover,we demonstrate a large TMOKE magnitude that exceeds 0.6.The value is 1 order of magnitude larger than that of magneto-plasmonic sensors reported. We also demonstrate that the behavior of TMOKE spectra can be controlled by tuning the geometrical parameters of the device including the diameter and thickness of nanodisk arrays. This work provides a promising route for designing magneto-plasmonic sensors based on metasurfaces or metamaterials. | Lixia Li Xueyang Zong Yufang Liu | 2020 | Photonics Research2020,8,11: | 1

Active site identification and engineering during the dynamic evolution of copper-based catalysts for electrocatalytic CO_(2) reduction显示文摘To date,copper-based catalysts are one of the most prominent catalysts that can electrochemically reduce CO_(2)towards highvalue fuels or chemicals, such as ethylene, ethanol, and acetic acid. However, the chemically active feature of Cu-based catalysts hinders the understanding of the intrinsic catalytic active sites during the initial and the operative processes of electrochemical CO_(2)reduction(CO_(2)RR).The identification and engineering of active sites during the dynamic evolution of catalysts are thereby vital to further improve the activity, selectivity, and durability of Cu-based catalysts for high-performance CO_(2)RR.In this regard, four triggers for the dynamic evolution of catalysts were introduced in detail.Afterward, three typical active-site theories during the dynamic reconstruction of catalysts were discussed. In addition, the strategies in catalyst design were summarized according to the latest reports of Cu-based catalysts for CO_(2)RR,including the tuning of electronic structure, controlling of the external potential, and regulation of local catalytic environment. Finally, the conclusions and perspectives were provided to inspire more investigations and studies on the intrinsic active sites during the dynamic evolution of catalysts, which could promote the optimization of the catalyst system to further improve the performance of CO_(2)RR. | Bangwei Deng Xueyang Zhao Yizhao Li Ming Huang Shihan Zhang Fan Dong | 2023 | Science China Chemistry2023,66,1: | 0
Experiment Study and Interpretation on Relation between Modulus of Rock and Strain Amplitude显示文摘Nonlinear elasticity of the earth medium produces a numerical difference between the dynamic and the static modulus of rock. The dynamic modulus is calculated with the ultrasonic velocity measurement, the small-cycle modulus is calculated with small cycles in the load-unload experiment, the static modulus is calculated from the slope of the stress-strain curve in the large cycle, the Young’s modulus is obtained from the ratio of stress to strain in the measured point. The relationship between the modulus and the strain amplitudes is studied by changing the strain amplitude in the small cycles. The moduli obtained from different measuring methods are thus compared. The result shows that the dynamic modulus is the largest, the small-cycle modulus takes the second place, the static modulus of bigger-cycle is the third, and finally the Young’s modulus is the smallest. Nonlinear modulus of rock is a function of the strain level and strain amplitude. The modulus decreases exponentially with the ascending of the strain amplitude, while increases with the ascending of the strain level. Finally, the basic concept of the P-M model is briefly introduced and the relationship between the modulus and strain amplitude is explained by the rock having different distribution densities and the different open-and-close stresses of the micro-cracks. | Bao Xueyang Shi Xingjue Wen Dan Li Chengbo Wang Xingzhou | 2006 | Earthquake Research in China2006,20,2: | 0
Polymeric dual-modal imaging nanoprobe with two-photon aggregation-induced emission for fluorescence imaging and gadolinium-chelation for magnetic resonance imaging显示文摘Nanoprobes that offer both fluorescence imaging(FI)and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)can provide supplementary information and hold synergistic advantages. However, synthesis of such dual-modality imaging probes that simultaneously exhibit tunability of functional groups, high stability, great biocompatibility and desired dual-modality imaging results remains challenging. In this study,we used an amphiphilic block polymer from(ethylene glycol)methyl ether methacrylate(OEGMA)and N-(2-hydroxypropyl)methacrylamide(HPMA)derivatives as a carrier to conjugate a MR contrast agent,Gd-DOTA,and a two-photon fluorophore with an aggregation-induced emission(AIE)effect,TPBP,to construct a MR/two-photon fluorescence dual-modality contrast agent,Gd-DOTA-TPBP.Incorporation of gadolinium in the hydrophilic chain segment of the OEGMA-based carrier resulted in a high r_(1)value for Gd-DOTA-TPBP,revealing a great MR imaging resolution. The contrast agent specifically accumulated in the tumor region, allowing a long enhancement duration for vascular and tumor contrast-enhanced MR imaging.Meanwhile, coupling TPBP with AIE properties to the hydrophobic chain segment of the carrier not only improved its water solubility and reduced its cytotoxicity, but also significantly enhanced its imaging performance in an aqueous phase.Gd-DOTA-TPBP was also demonstrated to act as an excellent fluorescence probe for two-photon-excited bioimaging with higher resolution and greater sensitivity than MRI.Since high-resolution,complementary MRI/FI dual-modal images were acquired at both cellular and tissue levels in tumor-bearing mice after application of Gd-DOTA-TPBP,it has great potential in the early phase of disease diagnosis. | Xueyang Xiao Hao Cai Qiaorong Huang Bing Wang Xiaoming Wang Qiang Luo Yinggang Li Hu Zhang Qiyong Gong Xuelei Ma Zhongwei Gu Kui Luo | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,1: | 0

Impact of corticosteroids on initiation and half-year durability of humoral response in COVID-19 survivors显示文摘Background:The impact of corticosteroids on humoral responses in coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)sur-vivors during the acute phase and subsequent 6-month period remains unknown. This study aimed to determine how the use of corticosteroids influences the initiation and duration of humoral responses in COVID-19 survivors 6 months after infection onset. Methods:We used kinetic antibody data from the lopinavir-ritonavir trial conducted at Jin Yin-Tan Hospital in January 2020,which involved adults hospitalized with severe COVID-19(LOTUS,ChiCTR2000029308).Anti-body samples were collected from 192 patients during hospitalization, and kinetic antibodies were monitored at all available time points after recruitment.Additionally, plasma samples were collected from 101 COVID-19 survivors for comprehensive humoral immune measurement at the half-year follow-up visit. The main focus was comparing the humoral responses between patients treated with systemic corticosteroid therapy and the non-corticosteroid group. Results:From illness onset to day 30,the median antibody titre areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUCs)of nucleoprotein(N),spike protein(S),and receptor-binding domain(RBD)immunoglobulin G(IgG)were significantly lower in the corticosteroids group. The AUCs of N-,S-,and RBD-IgM as well as neutralizing antibodies(NAbs)were numerically lower in the corticosteroids group compared with the non-corticosteroid group. However, peak titres of N,S,RBD-IgM and-IgG and NAbs were not influenced by corticosteroids.During 6-month follow-up,we observed a delayed decline for most binding antibodies, except N-IgM(−0.05,95%CI[−0.10,0.00])in the corticosteroids group, though not reaching statistical significance. No significant difference was observed for NAbs.However, for the half-year seropositive rate, corticosteroids significantly accelerated the decay of IgA and IgM but made no difference to N-,S-,and RBD-IgG or NAbs.Additionally, corticosteroids group showed a trend towards delayed viral clearance compared with the non-corticosteroid group, but the results were not statistically significant(adjusted hazard ratio 0.71,95%CI 0.50-1.00;P=0.0508).Conclusion:Our findings suggested that corticosteroid therapy was associated with impaired initiation of the antibody response but this did not compromise the peak titres of binding and neutralizing antibodies.Throughout the decay phase, from the acute phase to the half-year follow-up visit,short-term and low-dose corticosteroids did not significantly affect humoral responses, except for accelerating the waning of short-lived antibodies. | Yeming Wang Li Guo Guohui Fan Yang Han Qiao Zhang Lili Ren Hui Zhang Geng Wang Xueyang Zhang Tingxuan Huang Weiyang Wang Lan Chen Lixue Huang Xiaoying Gu Xinming Wang Jingchuan Zhong Ying Wang Hui Li Jiapei Yu Zhibo Liu Chaolin Huang Bin Cao Jianwei Wang | 2024 | Chinese Medical Journal Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine2024,2,1: | 0
The Roadmap of 2D Materials and Devices Toward Chips显示文摘Due to the constraints imposed by physical effects and performance degra certain limitations in sustaining the advancement of Moore’s law.Two-dimensional(2D)materials have emerged as highly promising candidates for the post-Moore era, offering significant potential in domains such as integrated circuits and next-generation computing. Here,in this review, the progress of 2D semiconductors in process engineering and various electronic applications are summarized.A careful introduction of material synthesis, transistor engineering focused on device configuration, dielectric engineering, contact engineering, and material integration are given first. Then 2D transistors for certain electronic applications including digital and analog circuits, heterogeneous integration chips, and sensing circuits are discussed. Moreover, several promising applications(artificial intelligence chips and quantum chips)based on specific mechanism devices are introduced. Finally, the challenges for 2D materials encountered in achieving circuit-level or system-level applications are analyzed, and potential development pathways or roadmaps are further speculated and outlooked. | Anhan Liu Xiaowei Zhang Ziyu Liu Yuning Li Xueyang Peng Xin Li Yue Qin Chen Hu Yanqing Qiu Han Jiang Yang Wang Yifan Li Jun Tang Jun Liu Hao Guo Tao Deng Songang Peng He Tian Tian‑Ling Ren | 2024 | Nano-Micro Letters2024,16,6: | 0
PCL-based and Hirudin-containing Composite Nanofibers for Prolonged Anticoagulation Effect显示文摘More and more concerns about health bring the increasing demand for blood contact tissue engineering alternatives. In this paper, nanoparticles of poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)/polyethyleneimine mixed with recombinant hirudin(rHNPs)were prepared by a double emulsion solvent volatilization method, which were then loaded onto the polycaprolactone(PCL)with polydopamine(PDA)coating to form the composite nanofibers of PCL/PDA/rHNPs.The hydrophilicity and mechanical properties of the composite nanofibers were improved significantly compared with pure PCL.The morphology kept almost unchanged after 30 d of degradation in phosphate buffer saline(PBS).The anticoagulant molecule of hirudin could be gradually released from the composite scaffolds through the degradation of rHNPs in vitro. When the concentration of rHNPs suspension was 5.0 mg/mL,the composite nanofibers could better promote the growth and proliferation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs).The anticoagulant ability of the composite nanofibers was also significantly improved in comparison with that of pure PCL.The design of controlled release anticoagulant materials would alleviate the sudden release of simple fixed hirudin, which could also provide a new idea for the development of novel blood contact materials. | ZHENG Zhiwen DAI Xin LI Xueyang DU Chang | 2023 | Chemical Research in Chinese Universities2023,39,6: | 0
Dynamics of ionisation wave propagation in an applied external electric field显示文摘This study presents spatio-temporal development of the ionisation waves(IWs)along one dielectric tube with an extra alternating electric field.A pulsed direct current power supply is used for generating the IWs,and another alternating current power supply is used for altering the distribution of electric fields along the dielectric tube. The measurements show that the propagation velocity and density of IWs are strongly affected by the external electric field. The direct relation between external electric field and the velocity of the IWs is demonstrated.Further analysis indicates that the external electric field can be utilised to control the propagation of the IWs,resulting in a change of their density and velocity. | Yang Xia Dongping Liu Hamidreza Ghomi Wenchun Wang Zhenhua Bi Longfei Ji Xueyang Wang Zhihua Qi Bin Li | 2016 | High Voltage2016,1,2: | 0
A Quantum Authorization Management Protocol Based on EPRPairs显示文摘Quantum authorization management(QAM)is the quantum scheme for privilege management infrastructure(PMI)problem.Privilege management(authorization management)includes authentication and authorization.Authentication is to verify a user’s identity.Authorization is the process of verifying that a authenticated user has the authority to perform a operation, which is more fine-grained.In most classical schemes, the authority management center(AMC)manages the resources permissions for all network nodes within the jurisdiction. However, the existence of AMC may be the weakest link of the whole scheme. In this paper,a protocol for QAM without AMC is proposed based on entanglement swapping. In this protocol,Bob(the owner of resources)authenticates the legality of Alice(the user)and then shares the right key for the resources with Alice.Compared with the other existed QAM protocols, this protocol not only implements authentication, but also authorizes the user permissions to access certain resources or carry out certain actions. The authority division is extended to fin-grained rights division. The security is analyzed from the four aspects:the outsider’s attack, the user’s attack, authentication and comparison with the other two QAM protocols. | Yan Chang Shibin Zhang Lili Yan Guihua Han Haiquan Song Yan Zhang Xueyang Li Qirun Wang | 2019 | Computers, Materials & Continua2019,,6: | 0

Transmission of Carbapenem Resistance Between Human and Animal NDM-Positive Escherichia coli Strains显示文摘Although carbapenem use is prohibited in animals in China,carbapenem-resistant Escherichia coli(CREC),especially New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase(NDM)-producing strains, are widely prevalent in foodproducing animals. At present, the impact of livestock-associated CREC strains on human populations at the national level is unknown. Here,we conduct a retrospective cross-sectional study to investigate the prevalence of CREC from clinical settings across 22 Chinese provinces or municipalities and analyze anthropogenic factors associated with their presence. We also ascertain the blaNDMand blaKPCabundance among pig and chicken farms and present a detailed genomic framework for CREC of animal and human origin.Overall,631/29799(2.1%)clinical Escherichia coli(E.coli)isolates were identified as CREC.Multivariable analysis revealed that being male,an age below 1,an age between 13 and 18,provinces with greater chicken production, and provinces with higher pig production were associated with higher odds of CREC infection. In general,73.8%(n=45/61)of pig farms and 62.2%(n=28/45)of chicken farms had a blaNDMabundance of 1×10^(-5)to 1×10^(-3)and 1×10^(-3)to 1×10^(-2),respectively.Among all the Chinese NDM-positive E.coli(n=463)available at the National Center for Biotechnology Information(NCBI),the genomic analysis revealed that blaNDM-5and Inc X3 were the predominant carbapenemase gene-plasmid combination, while a highly homogeneous relationship between NDM-positive isolates from humans and animals was demonstrated at the plasmid and core genome levels. All the findings suggest frequent CREC transmission between humans and animals, indicating that further discussions on the use of antibiotics in animals and humans are needed, both in China and across the globe. | Yingbo Shen Fupin Hu Yongqiang Wang Dandan Yin Lu Yang Yiqiang Chen Chunyan Xu Jiyun Li Junyao Jiang Xueyang Wang Yulin Fu Dongyan Shao Dejun Liu Tengfei Ma Chang Cai Zhangqi Shen Shaolin Wang Juan Li Rong Zhang Yuebin Ke Congming Wu Jianzhong Shen Timothy R.Walsh Yang Wang | 2022 | Engineering2022,8,8: | 0
