| 1 | Preparation of multi-color quantum dots and its application to immunohistochemical analysis显示文摘Quantum dots (QDs) have the potential to be used in the multiplexed bioanalysis for their unique property:multi-color QDs can be excited at the same single wavelength light. In this work,high quan-tum yield multi-color core/shell QDs were prepared. After being water-solubilized by amphiphilic polymer based on self-assembling,the QDs would be labeled by two different IgGs and used in the multiplexed biodetection. Fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) should be avoided in the multiplexed biodetection. In this work,spectral analysis showed that no FRET appeared in water-soluble QDs modified by amphiphilic polymer. The immunofluorescence in vitro indicated that the QDs-IgGs bioconjugates had excellent species-specific detection ability with nearly non-specific binding. | 2 | Influence of fault geometry and fault interaction on strain partitioning within western Sichuan and its adjacent region显示文摘There are several major active fault zones in the western Sichuan and its vicinity. Slip rates and seismicity vary on different fault zones. For example, slip rates on the Xianshuihe fault zone are higher than 10 mm/a. Its seismicity is also intense. Slip rates on the Longmenshan fault zone are low. However, Wenchuan Ms8.0 earthquake occurred on this fault zone in 2008. Here we study the impact of fault geometry on strain partitioning in the western Sichuan region using a three-dimensional viscoe- lastoplastic model. We conclude that the slip partitioning on the Xianshuihe-Xiaojiang fault presents as segmented, and it is related to fault geometry and fault structure. Slip rate is high on fault segment with simple geometry and structure, and vice versa. Strain rate outside the fault is localized around the fault segment with complex geometry and fault structure. Strain partitioning on the central section of the Xianshuihe-Xiaojiang fault zone is influenced by the interaction between the Anninghe-Zemuhe fault and the Daliangshan fault zone. Striking of the Longmenshan fault zone is nearly orthogonal to the direction of eastward extrusion in the Tibetan Plateau. | 8 | Root cell walls and phytochelatins in low-cadmium cultivar of Brassica parachinensis显示文摘‘Lvbao-701’ is a cultivar of Chinese flowering cabbage(Brassica parachinensis) that exhibits low cadmium(Cd) accumulation and high Cd tolerance.In this study, this cultivar was compared with a high-Cd accumulating cultivar, ‘Chixin-4’, to characterize the mechanisms influencing Cd accumulation in B. parachinensis. Root cell walls were isolated by dissolving the cytoplasm with an organic solvent, and root Cd and phytochelatin(PC) contents were analyzed. In addition, a PC synthase gene fragment was cloned and expressed under Cd stress conditions. The proportions of Cd bound to root cell walls were higher in the ‘Lvbao-701’ plants(68.32%–76.80%) than in the ‘Chixin-4’ plants(35.36%–54.18%) after exposure to Cd stress. The proportions of Cd bound to root cell walls measured using cell walls isolated with a non-destructive method were higher than those obtained using a conventional method that required grinding and centrifugation. Exposure to Cd stress induced the PC production and resulted in higher PC contents in the ‘Lvbao-701’ plants than in the ‘Chixin-4’ plants. Cloning and expression analysis of a B. parachinensis PC synthase cDNA fragment indicated that PC synthase gene expression was induced by Cd and occurred mainly in the roots of both ‘Lvbao-701’ and ‘Chixin-4’ plants. However, the PC synthase gene expression level was higher in the‘Lvbao-701’ roots than in the ‘Chixin-4’ roots. | 9 | Numerical Simulation on Coseismic Effect of the November 14,2001 Great Kunlun Earthquake,Northern Tibet,China显示文摘The November 14,2001 M_S8.1 Kunlun Mountains earthquake in northern Tibet is the largest earthquake occurring on the Chinese mainland since 1950.We apply a three-dimensional(3-D)finite element numerical procedure to model the coseismic displacement and stress fields of the earthquake based on field investigations.We then further investigate the stress interaction between the M_S8.1 earthquake and the intensive aftershocks.Our primary calculation shows that the coseismic displacement field is centralized around the east Kunlun fault zone.And the attenuation of coseismic displacements on the south side of Kunlun fault zone is larger than that on the north side.The calculated coseismic stress field also indicates that the calculated maximal shear stress field is centralized around the east Kunlun fault zone;the directions of the coseismic major principal stress are opposite to that of the background crustal stress field of the Qinghai-Xizang(Tibet)Plateau.It indicates that the earthquake relaxes the crustal stress state in the Qinghai-Xizang(Tibet)Plateau.Finally,we study the stress interaction between M_S8.1 earthquake and its intensive aftershocks.The calculated Coulomb stress changes of the M_S8.1 great earthquake are in favor of triggering 4 aftershocks. | Wang Hui Zhang Guomin Zhang Huai Shi Yaolin Liu Jie Shen Xuhui | 2008 | Earthquake Research in China2008,22,2: | 0 |
| 10 | Global variations in critical drought thresholds that impact vegetation显示文摘Identifying the thresholds of drought that,if crossed,suppress vegetation functioning is vital for accurate quantification of how land ecosystems respond to climate variability and change.We present a globally applicable framework to identify drought thresholds for vegetation responses to different levels of known soil-moisture deficits using four remotely sensed vegetation proxies spanning 2001-2018.The thresholds identified represent critical inflection points for changing vegetation responses from highly resistant to highly vulnerable in response to drought stress,and as a warning signal for substantial vegetation impacts.Drought thresholds varied geographically,with much lower percentiles of soil-moisture anomalies in vegetated areas covered by more forests,corresponding to a comparably stronger capacity to mitigate soil water deficit stress in forested ecosystems.Generally,those lower thresholds are detected in more humid climates.State-of-the-art land models,however,overestimated thresholds of soil moisture(i.e.overestimating drought impacts),especially in more humid areas with higher forest covers and arid areas with few forest covers.Based on climate model projections,we predict that the risk of vegetation damage will increase by the end of the twenty-first century in some hotspots like East Asia,Europe,Amazon,southern Australia and eastern and southern Africa.Our data-based results will inform projections on future drought impacts on terrestrial ecosystems and provide an effective tool for drought management. | Xiangyi Li Shilong Piao Chris Huntingford Josep Peñuelas Hui Yang Hao Xu Anping Chen Pierre Friedlingstein Trevor F.Keenan Stephen Sitch Xuhui Wang Jakob Zscheischler Miguel D.Mahecha | 2023 | National Science Review2023,10,5: | 0 |
