| 1 | ENPP1/PC-1 Gene K121Q Polymorphism Is Associated with Obesity in European Adult Populations: Evidence from A Meta-Analysis Involving 24 324 Subjects显示文摘Objective Findings from the previous studies have suggested a relationship between ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase /phosphodiesterase 1 (ENPP‐1) or plasma cell membrane glycoprotein 1 (PC‐1) gene single nucleotide polymorphism (K121Q, rs1044498) and genetic susceptibility to obesity. However, such relationship is not reproduced by some currently available studies. In this context, the present study is aimed to quantitatively analyze the association of K121Q variant with obesity in all published case‐control studies in European adult populations. Methods Published literature from PubMed, EMBASE, and ISI web of science databases were retrieved. The studies evaluating the association of ENPP1/PC1 gene K121Q polymorphism with obesity were included, in which sufficient data were presented to calculate the odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results Ten case‐control studies meeting the inclusion criteria identified a total of 24,324 subjects including 11,372 obese and 12,952 control subjects. The meta‐analysis results showed a statistically significant association of K121Q with obesity [OR (95%CI): 1.25 (1.04‐1.52) P=0.021] under a recessive model of inheritance (QQ vs. KK+KQ) without heterogeneity or publication bias. | 2 | Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Gliomas Exhibit Cell Biological and Molecular Signatures of Fetal Hindbrain-Derived Neural Progenitor Cells显示文摘Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma(DIPG) is the main cause of brain tumor-related death among children.Until now, there is still a lack of effective therapy with prolonged overall survival for this disease. A typical strategy for preclinical cancer research is to find out the molecular differences between tumor tissue and para-tumor normal tissue, in order to identify potential therapeutic targets. Unfortunately, it is impossible to obtain normal tissue for DIPG because of the vital functions of the pons.Here we report the human fetal hindbrain-derived neural progenitor cells(pontine progenitor cells, PPCs) as normal control cells for DIPG. The PPCs not only harbored similar cell biological and molecular signatures as DIPG glioma stem cells, but also had the potential to be immortalized by the DIPG-specific mutation H3 K27 M in vitro. | 4 | sRNAanno-a database repository of uniformly annotated small RNAs in plants显示文摘Small RNAs(sRNAs)are essential regulatory molecules,and there are three major sRNA classes in plants:microRNAs(miRNAs),phased small interfering RNAs(phased siRNAs or phasiRNAs),and heterochromatic siRNAs(hc-siRNAs).Excluding miRNAs,the other two classes are not well annotated or available in public databases for most sequenced plant genomes.We performed a comprehensive sRNA annotation of 143 plant species that have fully sequenced genomes and next-generation sequencing sRNA data publicly available.The results are available via an online repository called sRNAanno(www.plantsRNAs.org).Compared with other public plant sRNA databases,we obtained was much more miRNA annotations,which are more complete and reliable because of the consistent and highly stringent criteria used in our miRNA annotations.sRNAanno also provides free access to genomic information for>22,721 PHAS loci and>22 million hc-siRNA loci annotated from these 143 plant species.Both miRNA and PHAS loci can be easily browsed to view their main features,and a collection of archetypal trans-acting siRNA 3(TAS3)genes were annotated separately for quick access.To facilitate the ease of sRNA annotation,sRNAanno provides free service for sRNA annotations to the community.In summary,the sRNAanno database is a great resource to facilitate genomic and genetic research on plant small RNAs. | Chengjie Chen Jiawei Li Junting Feng Bo Liu Lei Feng Xiaoling Yu Guanliang Li Jixian Zhai Blake C.Meyers Rui Xia | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 1 |

| 9 | The Significant Contribution of Small-Sized and Spherical Aerosol Particles to the Decreasing Trend in Total Aerosol Optical Depth over Land from 2003 to 2018显示文摘The optical and microphysical properties of aerosols remain one of the greatest uncertainties associated with evaluating the climate forcing attributed to aerosols.Although the trends in aerosol optical depth(AOD)at global and regional scales have been widely examined,little attention has been paid to the trends in type-dependent AODs related to aerosol particle properties.Here,using the aerosol optical component dataset from the Multi-angle Imaging SpectroRadiometer(MISR)instrument,we investigate decadal-scale trends in total aerosol loading as well as AODs for five aerosol components by particle size and morphology during 2003–2018 over land.Relationships between the total AOD(TAOD)trends and type-dependent AOD changes were examined,and the relative contribution of each type-dependent AOD to the overall TAOD trends was quantified.By dividing the TAOD values into four different aerosol pollution levels(APLs)with splits at 0.15,0.40,and 0.80,we further explored the relationships between TAOD changes and interannual variations in the frequency-of-occurrences(FoOs)of these APLs.Long-term trends in FoOs in the different APLs show that there was a significant improvement in air quality between 2003 and 2018 in most land areas,except South Asia,corresponding to a shift from lightly polluted to clean conditions.However,the effects of different APLs on TAOD changes are regionally dependent and their extent of correlation varied spatially.Moreover,we observed that the annual mean TAOD has decreased by 0.47%.a^(-1)over land since 2003(P<0.05).This significant reduction was mainly attributed to the continued reduction in small-sized(<0.7 mm diameter)AOD(SAOD)(-0.74%.a^(-1))and spherical AOD(SPAOD)(-0.46%.a^(-1)).Statistical analysis shows that SAOD and SPAOD respectively accounted for 57.5%and 89.6%of the TAOD,but contributed 82.6%and 90.4%of the trend in TAOD.Our study suggests that small-sized and spherical aerosols composed of sulfate,organic matter,and black carbon play a dominant role in determining interannual variability in land TAOD. | Ke Gui Huizheng Che Lei Li Yu Zheng Lei Zhang Hujia Zhao Junting Zhong Wenrui Yao Yuanxin Liang Yaqiang Wang Xiaoye Zhang | 2022 | Engineering2022,,9: | 0 |

| 13 | Controllable surface reconstruction of copper foam for electrooxidation of benzyl alcohol integrated with pure hydrogen production显示文摘Electrocatalytic water splitting that is coupled with electrocatalytic chemical oxidation is considered as one of the promising methods for efficiently obtaining hydrogen energy and fine chemicals.Herein,we focus on an electrochemical redox activation strategy to rationally manipulate the microstructure and surface valence states of copper foam(CF)and boost the corresponding performance towards electrocatalytic benzyl alcohol oxidation(EBA),accompanied by the efficient hydrogen production.Correspondingly,the Cu(II)‐dominated species are gradually formed on the CF surface with the dissolution and redeposition of copper in the suitable potential range.The new species containing Cu2O,CuO,and Cu(OH)2 during surface reconstruction process of the CF were confirmed by multiple characterization techniques.After 220‐cycled activation(CF‐220),the activated CF achieves an increase of current density for EBA in anode from 9.5 for the original CF to 29.3 mmol/cm2,while the pure hydrogen yield increases threefold than that of the original CF at 1.5 VRHE.The produced new species can endow the CF‐220 with abundant acidity sites,which can enhance the adsorption toward Lewis‐basicity benzyl alcohol,confirmed by NH3‐temperature‐programmed desorption.In situ Raman result further reveals that the as‐produced CuO,Cu(OH)2,and Cu(OH)42−are the main active species toward the EBA process. | Yingnan Han Chang Yu Hongling Huang Qianbing Wei Junting Dong Lin Chen Jieshan Qiu | 2024 | SmartMat2024,5,1: | 0 |
| 14 | An LC-MS/MS method for simultaneous analysis of the cystic fibrosis therapeutic drugs colistin,ivacaftor and ciprofloxacin显示文摘Inhaled antibiotics such as colistin and ciprofloxacin are increasingly used to treat bacterial lung infections in cystic fibrosis patients.In this study,we established and validated a new HPLC-MS/MS method that could simultaneously detect drug concentrations of ciprofloxacin,colistin and ivacaftor in rat plasma,human epithelial cell lysate,cell culture medium,and drug transport media.An aliquot of200 μL drug-containing rat plasma or cell culture medium was treated with 600 μL of extraction solution(acetonitrile containing 0.1% formic acid and 0.2% trifluoroacetic acid(TFA)).The addition of 0.2% TFA helped to break the drug-protein bonds.Moreover,the addition of 0.1% formic acid to the transport medium and cell lysate samples could significantly improve the response and reproducibility.After vortexing and centrifuging,the sample components were analyzed by HPLC-MS/MS.The multiple reaction monitoring mode was used to detect the following transitions:585.5-101.1(colistin A),578.5-101.1(colistin B),393.2-337.2(ivacaftor),332.2-314.2(ciprofloxacin),602.3-101.1(polymyxin B1 as internal standard(IS)) and 595.4-101.1(polymyxin B2 as IS).The running time of a single sample was only 6 min,making this a time-efficient method.Linear correlations were found for colistin A at 0.029-5.82 μg/m L,colistin B at 0.016-3.14 μg/m L,ivacaftor at 0.05-10.0 μg/m L,and ciprofloxacin at 0.043-8.58 μg/m L.Accuracy,precision,and stability of the method were within the acceptable range.This method would be highly useful for research on cytotoxicity,animal pharmacokinetics,and in vitro drug delivery. | Huiya Yuan Shihui Yu Guihong Chai Junting Liu Qi(Tony)Zhou | 2021 | Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2021,11,6: | 0 |

| 17 | Enhanced water-induced effects enabled by alkali-stabilized Pd-OH_(x) species for oxidation of benzyl alcohol显示文摘The water promotion effects,where water can provide a solution-mediated reaction pathway in various heterogeneous chemical catalysis,have been presented and attracted wide attention recently,yet,the rational design of catalysts with a certain ability of enhancing water-induced reaction process is full of challenges and difficulties.Here,we show that by incorporating alkali(Na,K)cations as an electronic and/or structural promoter into Pd/rGO-ZnCr_(2)O_(4)(r GO,reduced graphene oxide),the obtained Pd(Na)/rGO-ZnCr_(2)O_(4)as a representative example demonstrates an outstanding benzyl alcohol oxidation activity in the Pickering emulsion system in comparison to the alkali-free counterpart.The response experiments of water injection confirm the enhanced activity,and the Na-modified catalyst can further enhance the promotion effects of water on the reaction.The effects of alkali cations for Pd nanoparticles are identified and deciphered by a series of experimental characterizations(XPS,in situ CO-DRIFTS,and CO-TPR coupled with MS),showing that there is abundant-OH on the surface of the catalyst,which is stabilized by the formation of Pd-OH_(x).The alkali-stabilized Pd-OH_(x)is helpful to enhance the waterinduced reaction process.According to the results of in situ Raman as well as UV-vis absorption spectra,the Na-modulated Pd(Na)/rGO-ZnCr_(2)O_(4)enables the beneficial characteristics for distorting the benzyl alcohol structure and enhancing the adsorption of benzyl alcohol.Further,the mechanism for enhanced water promotion effects is rationally proposed.The strategy of alkali cations-modified catalysts can provide a new direction to effectively enhance the chemical reaction involving small molecule water. | Qianbing Wei Chang Yu Yongwen Ren Lin Ni Dongming Liu Lin Chen Hongling Huang Yingnan Han Junting Dong Jieshan Qiu | 2023 | Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,6: | 0 |
