| 1 | Advances in the Pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s Disease:Focusing on Tau-Mediated Neurodegeneration显示文摘In addition to senile plaques and cerebral amyloid angiopathy,the hyperphosphorylation of tau protein and formation of intraneuronal neurofibrillary tangles(NFTs)represents another neuropathological hallmark in AD brain.Tau is a microtubule-associated protein and localizes predominantly in the axons of neurons with the primary function in maintaining microtubules stability.When the balance between tau phosphorylation and dephosphorylation is changed in favor of the former,tau is hyperphosphorylated and the level of the free tau fractions elevated.The hyperphosphorylation of tau protein and formation of NFTs represent a characteristic neuropathological feature in AD brain.We have discussed the role of Aβin AD in our previous review,this review focused on the recent advances in tau-mediated AD pathology,mainly including tau hyperphosphorylation,propagation of tau pathology and the relationship between tau and Aβ. | Yale Duan Suzhen Dong Feng Gu Yinghe Hu Zheng Zhao | 2012 | Translational Neurodegeneration2012,1,1: | 15 |

| 4 | Metformin inhibits food intake and neuropeptide Y gene expression in the hypothalamus显示文摘Metformin may reduce food intake and body weight,but the anorexigenic effects of metformin are still poorly understood.In this study,Sprague-Dawley rats were administered a single intracerebroventricular dose of metformin and compound C,in a broader attempt to investigate the regulatory effects of metformin on food intake and to explore the possible mechanism.Results showed that central administration of metformin significantly reduced food intake and body weight gain,particularly after 4 hours.A reduction of neuropeptide Y expression and induction of AMP-activated protein kinase phosphorylation in the hypothalamus were also observed 4 hours after metformin administration,which could be reversed by compound C,a commonly-used antagonist of AMP-activated protein kinase.Furthermore,metformin also improved lipid metabolism by reducing plasma low-density lipoprotein.Our findings suggest that under normal physiologica conditions,central regulation of appetite by metformin is related to a decrease in neuropeptide Y gene expression,and that the activation of AMP-activated protein kinase may simply be a response to the anorexigenic effect of metformin. | Yale Duan Rui Zhang Min Zhang Lijuan Sun Suzhen Dong Gang Wang Jun Zhang Zheng Zhao | 2013 | Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,25: | 2 |

| 7 | Performance of Hepatitis Delta Virus(HDV)RNA Testing for the Diagnosis of Active HDV Infection:Systematic Review and Meta-analysis显示文摘Background and Aims:Hepatitis delta virus(HDV)is a defective virus and causes severe liver disease.Several HDV RNA assays have been developed,however the diagnostic efficacy remains unclear.This systematic review and metaanalysis aims to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of HDV RNA assays to aid in the diagnosis of active hepatitis D.Methods:The PubMed,Embase,and Cochrane Library databases were systematically searched from the beginning to June 31,2022.Information on the characteristics of the literature and data on sensitivity,specificity,and area under curve(AUC)of the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)were extracted.Stata 14.0 was used for meta-analysis of the combined sensitivity,specificity,positive likelihood ratio,and negative likelihood ratio.Results:A total of 10 studies were included in the meta-analysis.The summary sensitivity,specificity,positive likelihood ratio,negative likelihood ratio,and diagnostic odds ratio of HDV RNA assays for HDV diagnosis were 0.92(95%CI:0.87-0.95),0.90(95%CI:0.86-0.93),7.74(95%CI:5.31-11.29),0.10(95%CI:0.06-0.18)and 99.90(95%CI:47.08-211.99),respectively.The AUC of the pooled ROC curve was 0.95(95%CI:0.92-0.96).Conclusions:The results show that HDV RNA assays had high diagnostic performance.However,that is limited by the number and quality of studies.Standard protocols for the development of assays by manufacturers and larger studies on the use of the assays are needed. | Sisi Chen Xiangying Zhang Ling Xu Yuan Tian Zihao Fan Yaling Cao Zhenzhen Pan Yao Gao Sujun Zheng Zhongping Duan Mei Liu Feng Ren | 2023 | Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2023,11,6: | 0 |
| 8 | Effect of Boron Fertilizer on the Root Growth Characteristics and Nutrient Contents of the Tuberous Root of Yacon显示文摘[Objectives]This study was conducted to investigate the effects of boron fertilizer on the root system and nutrient contents of yacon.[Methods]By the field test method,high-and low-dose of boron fertilizer(Na2B8O13,9000 and 3000 g/hm2)and equal amount of clean water(CK)were sprayed 3 times in the soil area where plants were grown in the early,middle and late stages of yacon growth,and the effects of applying boron fertilizer on the growth and fruit quality of yacon were analyzed.[Results]The indexes of the root system of yacon treated with boron fertilizer were significantly higher than those of the CK.The yield and total sugar,vitamin C,ash,Ca,Fe,Zn and other nutrients of the boron fertilizer treatments increased significantly compared with the CK.The yields of the low-and high-dose treatments increased by 77.2%and 211.2%,respectively,compared with the CK;and the contents of total sugar,vitamin C,ash,Ca,Fe and Zn in the high-dose treatment increased by 28.4%,163.6%,33.2%,73.3%,41.2%and 56.2%,respectively,compared with the CK.The nutrients in yacon treated with the low dose of boron fertilizer were lower than those with the high dose.The application of boron fertilizer could increase the yield of yacon,improve its quality and increase the contents of nutrients such as Ca,Fe,Zn and total sugar.[Conclusions]This study provides a reference for the reasonable application of boron fertilizer in the production of yacon and the improvement of the quality of yacon. | Mengchun ZHOU Xinyan ZHOU Mao TAN Yaling DUAN Yanzi HE Maoying XIANG Hualun ZHOU | 2020 | Agricultural Biotechnology2020,9,5: | 0 |
| 9 | VAMP726 from maize and Arabidopsis confers pollen resistance to heat and UV radiation by influencing lignin content of sporopollenin显示文摘Sporopollenin in the pollen cell wall protects male gametophytes from stresses.Phenylpropanoid derivatives,including guaiacyl(G)lignin units,are known to be structural components of sporopollenin,but the exact composition of sporopollenin remains to be fully resolved.We analyzed the phenylpropanoid derivatives in sporopollenin from maize and Arabidopsis by thioacidolysis coupled with nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry(GC–MS).The NMR and GC–MS results confirmed the presence of p-hydroxyphenyl(H),G,and syringyl(S)lignin units in sporopollenin from maize and Arabidopsis.Strikingly,H units account for the majority of lignin monomers in sporopollenin from these species.We next performed a genome-wide association study to explore the genetic basis of maize sporopollenin composition and identified a vesicle-associated membrane protein(ZmVAMP726)that is strongly associated with lignin monomer composition of maize sporopollenin.Genetic manipulation of VAMP726 affected not only lignin monomer composition in sporopollenin but also pollen resistance to heat and UV radiation in maize and Arabidopsis,indicating that VAMP726 is functionally conserved in monocot and dicot plants.Our work provides new insight into the lignin monomers that serve as structural components of sporopollenin and characterizes VAMP726,which affects sporopollenin composition and stress resistance in pollen. | Wenqi Yang Dongdong Yao Haiyang Duan Junli Zhang Yaling Cai Chen Lan Bing Zhao Yong Mei Yan Zheng Erbing Yang Xiaoduo Lu Xuehai Zhang Jihua Tang Ke Yu Xuebin Zhang | 2023 | Plant Communications2023,4,6: | 0 |
