2MSG is involved in sperm gelatinolytic activity in the prawn,Macrobrachium rosenbergii显示文摘Proteases in male reproductive tract are considered to play key roles in fertilization processes.In contrast to mammals,there are limited data concerning crustacean sperm proteases.We previously identified a novel sperm gelatinase(MSG) from Macrobrachium rosenbergii that was inhibited by a male reproduction-related Kazal-type protease inhibitor(MRPINK) specifically.In the present study,MSG was found to be distributed on the vas deferens and terminal ampullae by Western blot.Immunohistochemical analyses revealed that MSG was expressed in secretory epithelial cells and sperm distributed mainly at the base zone.RNA interference(RNAi) mediated knock-down of MSG resulted in a marked loss of sperm gelatinolytic activity.Taken together,the results show that MSG is closely linked to and probably involved in the fertilization process.YANG Fan QIAN YeQing MA WenMing LI Ye YANG JinShu YANG WeiJun 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,17:5
3Current perspectives on FOXA1 regulation of androgen receptor signaling and prostate cancer显示文摘FOXA1(also known as hepatocyte nuclear factor 3a,or HNF-3a)is a protein of the FKHD family transcription factors.FOXA1 has been termed as a pioneer transcription factor due to its unique ability of chromatin remodeling in which the chromatin can be decompacted to allow genomic access by nuclear hormone receptors,including androgen receptor(AR)and estrogen receptor(ER).In this review,we discuss our current understanding of FOXA1 regulation of prostatic and non-prostatic AR-chromatin targeting.We present an updated model wherein FOXA1:AR equilibrium in the nuclei defines prostatic AR binding profile,which is perturbed in prostate cancer with FOXA1 and/or AR de-regulation.Finally,we discuss recent efforts in exploring new horizons of AR-independent functions of FOXA1 in prostate cancer and interesting directions to pursue in future studies.Yeqing Angela Yang Jindan Yu 2015Genes & Diseases2015,2,2:5

10Detection of hTERT mRNA,CEA,CA19-9 in Pleural Effusion and Its Clinical Significance显示文摘OBJECTIVE To explore the clinical significance of the human telomerase reverse transcriptase(hTERT)mRNA,CEA and CA19-9 in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant pleural effusions. METHODS Concentrations of CEA and CA19-9 in pleural effusions were assayed using automated chemiluminescence,and expression of hTERT mRNA was detected by RT-PCR. RESULTS The positive rates of hTERT mRNA,CEA and CA19-9 expression in the group with malignant effusions were significantly higher compared to the group with benign effusion (P<0.05).The sensitivity(%),specificity(%)and diagnostic accordance rates(%)of the 3 tumor markers were as follows:i) hTERT mRNA:81.8/90.5/86.1;ii)CEA:52.3/92.9/72.1;iii)CA19-9: 34.1/90.5/61.6.The positive rates of hTERT mRNA+CEA(%) expression in the pleural effusions were 97.7. CONCLUSION All of these tumor markers can be helpful for differential diagnosis of pleural effusions.hTERT mRNA had more clinical value in differentiation of the pleural efffusions. 11High-throughput screening of room temperature active Peltier cooling materials in Heusler compounds显示文摘Active Peltier cooling enables Peltier heat transfer in addition to the traditional Fourier thermal conductance,which is useful in some special applications,such as the microthermostats.From the material wise,however,the study on the active Peltier cooling materials is rare.We carried out a high-throughput workflow to screen out 5 room-temperature active Peltier cooling materials,GaSbLi_(2),HgPbCa_(2),SnTiRu_(2),GeYbLi_(2),and GeTiFe_(2),from 2958 Heusler materials.All the five materials are semimetals or very narrow band gap systems with high electrical conductivity.Some of these materials have relatively large Seebeck coefficients due to the band asymmetry.Their effective thermal conductivityκ_(eff)s,which are the summation of active Peltier thermal conductivity and passive thermal conductivity,are all greater than Cu at the room temperature andΔT=1 K.The present work gives a possible way to search active cooling Peltier materials for the applications of precise temperature control.Huifang Luo Xin Li Yuxiang Wang Yeqing Jin Mingjia Yao Jiong Yang 2022npj Computational Materials2022,,1:0
12Plasma exchange therapy for acute necrotizing encephalopathy of childhood显示文摘Importance Acute necrotizing encephalopathy(ANE)is a rare disease with high mortality.Plasma exchange(PLEX)has recently been reported to treat ANE of childhood(ANEC),but its efficacy is uncertain.Objective This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of PLEX on ANEC.Methods A retrospective study was conducted in four pediatric intensive care units from December 2014 to December 2020.All patients who were diagnosed with ANEC were included;however,these patients were excluded if their length of stay was less than 24 h.Participants were classified into PLEX and non-PLEX groups.Results Twenty-nine patients with ANEC were identified,10 in the PLEX group and 19 in the non-PLEX group.In the PLEX group,C-reactive protein,procalcitonin,alanine aminotransferase,and aspartate aminotransaminase levels were significantly lower after 3 days of treatment than before treatment(13.1 vs.8.0,P=0.043;9.8 vs.1.5,P=0.028;133.4 vs.31.9,P=0.028;282.4 vs.50.5,P=0.046,respectively).Nine patients(31.0%,9/29)died at discharge,and a significantly difference was found between the PLEX group and non-PLEX group[0 vs.47.4%(9/19),P=0.011].The median follow-up period was 27 months,and three patients were lost to follow-up.Thirteen patients(50.0%,13/26)died at the last follow-up,comprising three(33.3%,3/9)in the PLEX group and ten(58.8%,10/17)in the non-PLEX group,but there was no significant difference between the two groups(P=0.411).Three patients(10.3%,3/29)fully recovered.Interpretation PLEX may reduce serum C-reactive protein and procalcitonin levels and improve liver function in the short term.PLEX may improve the prognosis of ANEC,and further studies are needed.Kechun Li Tao Zhang Gang Liu Ping Jin Yeqing Wang Lijie Wang Meixian Xu Chunyi Liu Yingchao Liu Tao Zhou Yan Xu Ying Yang Boliang Fang Xin Yang Chunfeng Liu Suyun Qian 2021Pediatric Investigation2021,5,2:0
13High-throughput deformation potential and electrical transport calculations显示文摘The deformation potential plays an important role in electrical transport properties, but in the context of high-throughputsearches requires a consistent and readily computable reference level. Here, we design a high-throughput method forcalculating the deformation potential for semiconductors in the MatHub-3d database. The deformation potential is obtainedfrom the volume-dependent band edge (valence band maximum and conduction band minimum) variations with respect tothe reference level. In order to adapt the calculation of reference level to a high-throughput manner, the average value of thefirst valence electron energy band associated with each compound is used as the reference level. Deformation potentials for11,993 materials are calculated using the above-mentioned method. By considering the calculated deformation potentials,electronic structures, and bulk moduli, 9957 compounds with converged electrical transport properties are obtained. 332promising p-type thermoelectric materials, and 321 n-type entries are then proposed. Among them, 156 compounds arescreened to having both potentially good n- and p-type thermoelectric transport properties. 15Bilayer carbon-based structure with the promotion of homogenous nucleation for lithium metal anodes显示文摘Lithium metal anodes (LMAs) are considered as the promising alternatives for next-generation high energy density batteries,but are still hampered by the severe growth of uncontrollable lithium dendrites.The growth of lithium dendrites induces poor cycling lifespan and serious safety concerns,dragging lithium metal batteries out of practical applications.We designed a bilayer carbonbased structure covered with Co/C nanosheets and vertical graphene sheets (VGS).The enormous specific surface area and uniformly distributed Co nanoparticles of the CC@Co/C-VGS host are derived from its unique design,which can reduce local current density and nucleation overpotential,resulting in a dendrite-free morphology and exceptional cycling stability.Symmetric cells exhibit over 400 cycles (800 h) at a high current density/capacity of 10 mA cm^(-2)/10 mA h cm^(-2).Full cells using LiFePO_(4)as the cathode have an enhanced rate capability and a prolonged lifespan,reaching 90 mA h g^(-1)after 1000 cycles at 2 C with 73.5% capacity retention.This unique design sheds light on developing high-performance LMAs.SHAO YeQing XIE YongHui YANG Yang CAO JiaQi LI XiuWan LI WangYang ZHANG QiaoLi CHENG ShouLin CHENG ShuYing WANG XingHui 2022Science China(Technological Sciences)2022,65,7:0
