1The biological effect of metal ions on the granulation of aerobic granular activated sludge显示文摘As a special biofilm structure,microbial attachment is believed to play an important role in the granulation of aerobic granular activated sludge(AGAS).This experiment was to investigate the biological effect of Ca^(2+),Mg^(2+),Cu^(2+),Fe^(2+),Zn^(2+),and K+which are the most common ions present in biological wastewater treatment systems,on the microbial attachment of AGAS and flocculent activated sludge(FAS),from which AGAS is always derived,in order to provide a new strategy for the rapid cultivation and stability control of AGAS.The result showed that attachment biomass of AGAS was about 300%higher than that of FAS without the addition of metal ions.Different metal ions had different effects on the process of microbial attachment.FAS and AGAS reacted differently to the metal ions as well,and in fact,AGAS was more sensitive to the metal ions.Specifically,Ca^(2+),Mg^(2+),and K+could increase the microbial attachment ability of both AGAS and FAS under appropriate concentrations,Cu^(2+),Fe^(2+),and Zn^(2+)were also beneficial to the microbial attachment of FAS at low concentrations,but Cu^(2+),Fe^(2+),and Zn^(2+)greatly inhibited the attachment process of AGAS even at extremely low concentrations.In addition,the acylated homoserine lactone(AHL)-based quorum sensing system,the content of extracellular polymeric substances and the relative hydrophobicity of the sludges were greatly influenced by metal ions.As all these parameters had close relationships with the microbial attachment process,the microbial attachment may be affected by changes of these parameters.Wen Hao Yaochen Li Junping Lv Lisha Chen Jianrong Zhu 2016Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,6:8
2Effect of berberine on activity and mRNA expression of N-acetyl transferase in human lung cancer cell line A549显示文摘OBJECTIVE:Tostudy the effects of berberine on activity and mRNA expression of N-acetyltransferase in human lung cancer cell lineA549.METHODS: N-acetyltransferase antibodies were prepared. The human lung cancer A549 cells were cultivated randomly in the wells of culture plate,and divided into the control group, and berberine0.0008, 0.008, 0.08, 0.8 and 1.6 mM treatment groups,with 3 wells for each group.24h later,A549 cells in each group were collected respectively, the content of N-acetyltransferase was detected by Flow cytometry, and the mRNA expression of N-acetyltransferase was observed by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction.RESULTS: The N-acetyltransferase content in human lung cancer A549 cells decreased with the increasing of berberine concentration, significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05 or P<0.001); and the mRNA expression of N-acetyltransferase also decreased with the increasing of berberine concentration, significantly lower in Huangliansu treatment groups(P<0.001).CONCLUSION: Berberine can inhibit the activity of N-acetyltransferase in human lung cancer cell line A549, and shows negative correlations of dose and time in a certain extent.The inhibited gene expression of N-acetyltransferase in human lung cancer A549 cell may probably represent one of the mechanisms for itsantineoplastic effect.Shengyan Xi Kunhan Chuang Kwangming Fang Yimin Lee Jinggung Chung Yaochen Chuang 2014Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2014,34,3:6
3Performance and role of N-acyl-homoserine lactone(AHL)-based quorum sensing(QS) in aerobic granules显示文摘The present study investigated the relationship between N-acyl-homoserine lactone(AHL)-based quorum sensing(QS) and the physico-chemical properties of aerobic granules.Stable mature granules were observed in SBR2 and SBR3 with average diameters of 0.96,and1.49 mm,respectively. The sludge densities of aerobic granules in SBR2 and SBR3 were1.0246,and 1.0201 g/mL,respectively,which were higher than that of flocculent sludge in SBR1(1.0065 g/mL). The results showed that the activity of AHL-based QS in SBR2 and SBR3 amounted to 2.4- and 2.1-fold induction,however,that in SBR1 with flocculent sludge was1.6-fold induction. In addition,the results also showed that the activity of AHL-based QS in the three reactors rose in the feast condition,and then dropped with the consumption of substrate. However,the activity of AHL-based QS in these three reactors recovered again in prolonged starvation. Furthermore,the results showed that the enhancement of AHL-based QS favored the extracellular polymeric substance production of microorganisms in activated sludge. Thus,it could be concluded that aerobic granules showed higher AHL-based QS than flocculent sludge,which resulted from the higher sludge density of aerobic granules than flocculent sludge. AHL-based QS was related to the metabolism energy in the feast condition; however,in prolonged starvation,microorganisms would emit more AHL-like molecules to protect themselves to resist starvation. 4Cell cycle regulation and anticancer drug discovery显示文摘Cellular growth,development,and differentiation are tightly controlled by a conserved biological mechanism:the cell cycle.This cycle is primarily regulated by cyclin-dependent kinase(CDK)-cyclin complexes,checkpoint kinases,and CDK inhibitors.Deregulation of the cell cycle is a hallmark of the transformation of normal cells into tumor cells.Given its importance in tumorigenesis,several cell cycle inhibitors have emerged as potential therapeutic drugs for the treatment of cancers-both as singleagent therapy and in combination with traditional cytotoxic or molecular targeting agents.In this review,we discuss the mechanisms underlying cell cycle regulation and present small-molecule anticancer drugs that are under development,including both pan-CDK inhibitors and CDK4/6-selective inhibitors.In addition,we provide an outline of some promising CDK inhibitors currently in preclinical and clinical trials that target cell cycle abnormalities in various cancers.Jingwen Bai Yaochen Li Guojun Zhang 2017Cancer Biology & Medicine2017,14,4:4

7The spatio-temporal variations of frost-free period in China from 1951 to 2012显示文摘The frost-free period(FFP)first frost date(FFD) and last frost date(LFD) have been regard as the important climate variables for agricultural production. Understanding the spatio-temporal variations of the FFPFFD and LFD is beneficial to reduce the harmful impacts of climate change on agricultural production and enhance the agricultural adaptation. This study examined daily minimum temperatures for 823 national-level meteorological stationscalculated the values of FFDLFD and FFP for station-specific and region-specific from 1951 to 2012estimated the gradients of linear regression for station-specific moving averages of FFDLFD and FFPand assessed station-specific time series of FFP and detected the abrupt change. The results as follows: at both the station level and the regional levelthe FFP across China decreases with the increase of latitude from south to northand with the increase of altitude from east to west generally. At the station levelthe inter-annual fluctuations of FFDLFD and FFP in south and west agricultural regions are greater than those in north and east. At the regional levelexcluding the QT regiontemporal changes of FFP are relatively small in both the low-latitude and the high-latitude regionsbut for the mid-latitude regions. According to the linear trend gradients of the moving average values of station-specific FFDLFD and FFPFFD was delayedLFD advancedand FFP extended gradually over the 80% of China. Furthermorethe change magnitudes for FFDLFD and FFP in the north and east agricultural regions are higher than that in the southern and western. Among the 659 station-specific time series of FFP examined by the Mann-Kendall test341 stationslocated mainly in the north regionhave one identifiable and significant abrupt change. And at the 341 stations with identified abrupt changesmost(57%) abrupt changes occurred during 1991–2012followed by the periods of 1981–1990(28%)1971–1980(12%)and 1951–1970(3%). 8Nonlinear constitutive law for ferroelectric/ferroelastic material and its finite element realization显示文摘The hysteresis phenomena of ferroelectric/ferroelastic material in polarization procedure are investigated. Some assumptions are presented based on the published experimental data. The electrical yielding criterion, mechanical yielding criterion and isotropic hardening model are established. The flow theory in incremental forms in polarization procedure is presented. The nonlinear constitutive law for electrical-mechanical coupling is proposed phenomenologically. Finally, the nonlinear constitutive law expressed in a form of matrices and vectors, which is immediately associated with finite element analysis, is formulated. In the example problem of a rectangular specimen subjected to a uniaxial electric field, the procedure from virgin state to fully polarized state is simulated. Afterward, a uniaxial compressive loading is applied to depolarizing the specimen. 9The relationships between urban-rural temperature difference and vegetation in eight cities of the Great Plains显示文摘Interpreting the relationship between urban heat island (UHI) and urban vegetation is a basis for understanding the impacts of underlying surfaces on UHL The calculation of UHI intensity (UHII) requires observations from paired stations in both urban and rural areas.Due to the limited number of paired meteorological stations,many studies have used remotely sensed land surface temperature,but these time-series land surface temperature data are often heavily affected by cloud cover and other factors.These factors,together with the algorithm for inversion of land surface temperature,lead to accuracy problems in detecting the UHII,especially in cities with weak UHII.Based on meteorological observations from the Oklahoma Mesonet,a world-class network,we quantified the UHII and trends in eight cities of the Great Plains,USA,where data from at least one pair of urban and rural meteorological stations were available.We examined the changes and variability in urban temperature,UHII,vegetation condition (as measured by enhanced vegetation index,EVI),and evapotranspiration (ET).We found that both UHI and urban cold islands (UCI) occurred among the eight cities during 2000-2014 (as measured by impervious surface area).Unlike what is generally considered,UHII in only three cities significantly decreased as EVI and ET increased (p < 0.1),indicating that the UHI or UCI cannot be completely explained simply from the perspective of the underlying surface.Increased vegetative cover (signaled by EVI) can increase ET,and thereby effectively mitigate the UHI.Each study station clearly showed that the underlying surface or vegetation affects urban-rural temperature,and that these factors should be considered during analysis of the UHI effect over time.Yaoping CUI Xiangming XIAO Russell B DOUGHTY Yaochen QIN Sujie LIU Nan LI Guosong ZHAO Jinwei DONG 2019Frontiers of Earth Science2019,13,2:2

15Multi-scale integrated assessment of urban energy use and CO_2 emissions显示文摘Accurate and detailed accounting of energy-induced carbon dioxide(CO2) emissions is crucial to the evaluation of pressures on natural resources and the environment, as well as to the assignment of responsibility for emission reductions. However, previous emission inventories were usually production- or consumption-based accounting, and few studies have comprehensively documented the linkages among socio-economic activities and external transaction in urban areas. Therefore, we address this gap in proposing an analytical framework and accounting system with three dimensions of boundaries to comprehensively assess urban energy use and related CO2 emissions. The analytical framework depicted the input, transformation, transfer and discharge process of the carbon-based(fossil) energy flows through the complex urban ecosystems, and defined the accounting scopes and boundaries on the strength of ‘carbon footprint' and ‘urban metabolism'. The accounting system highlighted the assessment for the transfer and discharge of socio-economic subsystems with different spatial boundaries. Three kinds methods applied to Beijing City explicitly exhibited the accounting characteristics. Our research firstly suggests that urban carbon-based energy metabolism can be used to analyze the process and structure of urban energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Secondly, three kinds of accounting methods use different benchmarks to estimate urban energy use and CO2 emissions with their distinct strength and weakness. Thirdly, the empirical analysis in Beijing City demonstrate that the three kinds of methods are complementary and give different insights to discuss urban energy-induced CO2 emissions reduction. We deduce a conclusion that carbon reductions responsibility can be assigned in the light of production, consumption and shared responsibility based principles. Overall, from perspective of the industrial and energy restructuring and the residential lifestyle changes, our results shed new light on the analysis on the evolutionary mechanism and pattern of urban energy-induced CO2 emissions with the combination of three kinds of methods. 19Variable-stiffness composite cylinder design under combined loadings by using the improved Kriging model显示文摘The large design freedom of variable-stiffness (VS) composite material presupposes its potential for wide engineering application. Previous research indicates that the design of VS cylindrical structures helps to increase the buckling load as compared to quasi-isotropic (QI) cylindrical structures. This paper focuses on the anti-buckling performance of VS cylindrical structures under combined loads and the efficient optimization design method. Two kinds of conditions, bending moment and internal pressure, and bending moment and torque are considered. Influences of the geometrical defects, ovality, on the cylinder's performances are also investigated. To increase the computational efficiency, an adaptive Kriging meta-model is proposed to approximate the structural response of the cylinders. In this improved Kriging model, a mixed updating rule is used in constructing the meta-model. A genetic algorithm (GA) is implemented in the optimization design.
