| 2 | Flow modification associated with mangrove trees in a macro-tidal flat, southern China显示文摘Limited studies have investigated the modification of tidal currents by mangrove trees. In particular, the impacts of mangrove trees on a vertical velocity profile remain unclear. An automatic system is developed to observe the vertical velocity profiles within a mangrove forest composed of artificially introduced Kandelia obovata located on the Ximen Island, the southern Zhejiang Province. The results reveal low flow velocities throughout the vertical profile within the mangrove forest. The vertical profile shows an overall decrease of the velocity with an increasing height above the bed. This pattern is due to the vertical increase of the drag force by the trunks and tree canopies.In addition, the turbulent energy density also varies vertically, corresponding to the vertical structure of the mangrove trees. | 3 | Fuzzy Torque Control of the Bionic Flexible Manipulator Actuated by Pneumatic Muscle Actuators显示文摘A bionic flexible manipulator driven by pneumatic muscle actuator(PMA)can better reflect the flexibility of the mechanism.Current research on PMA mainly focuses on the modeling and control strategy of the pneumatic manipulator system.Compared with traditional electro-hydraulic actuators,the structure of PMA is simple but possesses strong nonlinearity and flexibility,which leads to the difficulty in improving the control accuracy.In this paper,the configuration design of a bionic flexible manipulator is performed by human physiological map,the kinematic model of the mechanism is established,and the dynamics is analyzed by Lagrange method.A fuzzy torque control algorithm is designed based on the computed torque method,where the fuzzy control theory is applied.The hardware experimental system is established.Through the co-simulation contrast test on MATLAB and ADAMS,it is found that the fuzzy torque control algorithm has better tracking performance and higher tracking accuracy than the computed torque method,and is applied to the entity control test.The experimental results show that the fuzzy torque algorithm can better control the trajectory tracking movement of the bionic flexible manipulator.This research proposes a fuzzy torque control algorithm which can compensate the error more effectively,and possesses the preferred trajectory tracking performance. | Kai Liu Yining Chen Jiaqi Xu Yang Wu Yonghua Lu Dongbiao Zhao | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2019,32,5: | 4 |
| 4 | Cancer-associated adipocyte-derived G-CSF promotes breast cancer malignancy via Stat3 signaling显示文摘Adipocyte is the most predominant cell type in the tumor microenvironment of breast cancer and plays a pivotal role in cancer progression,yet the underlying mechanisms and functional mediators remain elusive.We isolated primary preadipocytes from mammary fat pads of human breast cancer patients and generated mature adipocytes and cancer-associated adipocytes(CAAs)in vitro.The CAAs exhibited significantly different gene expression profiles as assessed by transcriptome sequencing.One of the highly expressed genes in CAAs is granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(G-CSF).Treatment with recombinant human G-CSF protein or stable expression of human G-CSF in triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)cell lines enhanced epithelial–mesenchymal transition,migration,and invasion of cancer cells,by activating Stat3.Accordantly,targeting G-CSF/Stat3 signaling with G-CSF-neutralizing antibody,a chemical inhibitor,or siRNAs for Stat3 could all abrogate CAA-or G-CSF-induced migration and invasion of breast cancer cells.The pro-invasive genes MMP2 and MMP9 were identified as target genes of G-CSF in TNBC cells.Furthermore,in human breast cancer tissues,elevated G-CSF expression in adipocytes is well correlated with activated Stat3 signal in cancer cells.Together,our results suggest a novel strategy to intervene with invasive breast cancers by targeting CAA-derived G-CSF. | Li Liu Yudong Wu Cheng Zhang Chong Zhou Yining Li Yi Zeng Chunbo Zhang Rong Li Daya Luo Lieliang Wang Long Zhang Shuo Tu Huan Deng Shiwen Luo Ye-Guang Chen Xiangyang Xiong Xiaohua Yan | 2020 | Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2020,12,9: | 4 |
| 5 | Berberine mitigates hepatic insulin resistance by enhancing mitochondrial architecture via the SIRT1/Opa1 signalling pathway显示文摘The aberrant changes of fussion/fission-related proteins can trigger mitochondrial dynamics imbalance,which cause mitochondrial dysfunctions and result insulin resistance(IR).However,the relationship between the inner mitochondrial membrane fusion protein optic atrophy 1(Opa1)and hepatic IR as well as the specific molecular mechanisms of signal transduction has not been fully elucidated.In this study,we explore whether abnormalities in the Opa1 cause hepatic IR and whether berberine(BBR)can prevent hepatic IR through the SIRT1/Opa1 signalling pathway.High-fat diet(HFD)-fed mice and db/db mice are used as animal models to study hepatic IR in vivo.IR,morphological changes,and mitochondrial injury of the liver are examined to explore the effects of BBR.SIRT1/Opa1 protein expression is determined to confirm whether the signalling pathway is damaged in the model animals and is involved in BBR treatment-mediated mitigation of hepatic IR.A palmitate(PA)-induced hepatocyte IR model is established in HepG2 cells in vitro.Opa1 silencing and SIRT1 overexpression are induced to verify whether Opa1 deficiency causes hepatocyte IR and whether SIRT1 improves this dysfunction.BBR treatment and SIRT1 silencing are employed to confirm that BBR can prevent hepatic IR by activating the SIRT1/Opa1 signalling pathway.Western blot analysis and JC-1 fluorescent staining results show that Opa1 deficiency causes an imbalance in mitochondrial fusion/fission and impairs insulin signalling in HepG2 cells.SIRT1 and BBR overexpression ameliorates PA-induced IR,increases Opa1,and improves mitochondrial function.SIRT1 silencing partly reverses the effects of BBR on HepG2 cells.SIRT1 and Opa1 expressions are downregulated in the animal models.BBR attenuates hepatic IR and enhances SIRT1/Opa1 signalling in db/db mice.In summary,Opa1 silencing-mediated mitochondrial fusion/fission imbalance could lead to hepatocyte IR.BBR may improve hepatic IR by regulating the SIRT1/Opa1 signalling pathway,and thus,it may be used to treat type-2 diabetes. | Jia Xu Yining Zhang Zhiyi Yu Yueqi Guan Yuqian Lv Meishuang Zhang Ming Zhang Li Chen Xiaoyan Lv Fengying Guan | 2022 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,10: | 3 |
| 6 | Tendency for Evolution of High Myopia in 308 Chinese School Children from Xi'an City显示文摘Purpose: To observe the refractive status, especially the tendency for evolution of high myopia, in eyes of Chinese school children from Xi’an city.Methods: The study was conducted in 11514 eyes of the 5757students aged between 7~18 years in Xi’an city primary and high schools. The inclusion criterion was >-6D of the spherical equivalent refraction. The object ophthalmic examinations were done, included non-cycloplegic objective refraction, visual acuity, intraocular pressure, fundus evaluation by ophthalmologists and nurses with professional training. Specially designed questionnaires were filled in and the data were statistically analyzed with SPSS10.0.Results: Of 11514 eyes, the detection rate was 81.4%(9376eyes) for myopia and 5.3%(615 eyes) for high myopia. High myopia was found in 2.6%.(300 eyes).of right eyes, 2.7%(315 eyes) in left eyes, and 2.4%(275 eyes) were in boys and 2.9%(340 eyes) in girls. Among 12 school grades, the detection rates of high myopia increased significantly with student age, with 0.9% in the 1stgrade of primary school and12.5% in the 3rd year of senior middle school. The average refractive error of spherical equivalent refraction was(-7.43±1.29) D with 95% confidence interval(-7.54,-7.33). No significant differences were found between the right and left eyes or both genders. The distribution of myopic severity was lowest(-6D).in primary school students younger than 12 years,was higher(-8D) in junior middle school students older than13 years, and highest(-13D) in senior middle school students.Conclusion: A continuous growth was evident in the severity of high myopia throughout 12 years of primary and middle school except for the first year of primary school, with growth occurring in two transitional stages between the senior primary and junior middle school years, and between the junior and senior middle school years. The distribution of high myopia was lowest, at-6D, in primary school, increased to-8D in junior middle school, and progressed to-10D in senior middle school, indicating a high risk of development of pathologic myopia during the students’ later lifespan. | 8 | Spatial and temporal evolution of landfast ice near Zhongshan Station, East Antarctica, over an annual cycle in 2011/2012显示文摘Annual observations of first-year ice(FYI) and second-year ice(SYI) near Zhongshan Station, East Antarctica,were conducted for the first time from December 2011 to December 2012. Melt ponds appeared from early December 2011. Landfast ice partly broke in late January, 2012 after a strong cyclone. Open water was refrozen to form new ice cover in mid-February, and then FYI and SYI co-existed in March with a growth rate of 0.8 cm/d for FYI and a melting rate of 2.7 cm/d for SYI. This difference was due to the oceanic heat flux and the thickness of ice,with weaker heat flux through thicker ice. From May onward, FYI and SYI showed a similar growth by 0.5 cm/d.Their maximum thickness reached 160.5 cm and 167.0 cm, respectively, in late October. Drillings showed variations of FYI thickness to be generally less than 1.0 cm, but variations were up to 33.0 cm for SYI in March,suggesting that the SYI bottom was particularly uneven. Snow distribution was strongly affected by wind and surface roughness, leading to large thickness differences in the different sites. Snow and ice thickness in Nella Fjord had a similar 'east thicker, west thinner' spatial distribution. Easterly prevailing wind and local topography led to this snow pattern. Superimposed ice induced by snow cover melting in summer thickened multi-year ice,causing it to be thicker than the snow-free SYI. The estimated monthly oceanic heat flux was ~30.0 W/m2 in March–May, reducing to ~10.0 W/m2 during July–October, and increasing to ~15.0 W/m2 in November. The seasonal change and mean value of 15.6 W/m2 was similar to the findings of previous research.
