Efficacy of Banxia Xiexin decoction in a rat model of chronic atrophic gastritis显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effectiveness of Banxia Xiexin decoction(BXD)in a rat model of chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG).METHODS:Sixty 6-week-old healthy Wistar rats(30 males,30 females)were used in the present study.A rat model of CAG was successfully established using the combined active immunization/ethanol/sodium deoxycholate method.BXD was prepared from a mixture of seven Chinese herbs, and was intragastrically administered to CAG rats at three different doses(6,12,and 24 g·kg^-1·d^-1).Af-ter 24 weeks, the rats were euthanized, and gastric tissue specimens were collected.Gastric mucosal specimens were stained with hematoxylin and eosin for histological examination to evaluate the degree of inflammation and morphological changes.Immunohistochemical staining was performed to examine the mucosal expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen.Serum gastrin levels were measured using radioimmunoassay. The expression of Notch signaling-associated genes was examined by quantitative polymerase chain reaction and Western blot assay.RESULTS:BXD at all three doses significantly reversed the adverse effects generated by CAG in rats.Compared with control rats, the CAG rats who were administered BXD had an accelerated growth rate, reduced inflammatory cell infiltration, improved gastric mucosal morphology, augmented thickness of the gastric mucosa, increased number of gastric glands, enhanced mucosal expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen, and elevated serum gastrin levels. | Bai Yu Chen Yongcan Chen Yu Yan Maoxiang Wei Hongquan Wang Hengcang Zeng Guoliang Yang Xiyin | 2019 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2019,39,6: | 14
Enhancement of Enzymatic Saccharification of Wheat Straw Residue by Ammonium Sulfite Pretreatment显示文摘Efficient utilization of wheat straw residue(WSR) from pulp mills is an important priority for the sustainable development of the pulp and paper industry. In this study, the effects of ammonium sulfite(AS) pretreatment with different AS charges(wt%) and pretreatment temperatures on the chemical composition and enzymatic hydrolysis of WSR were studied. The results revealed that more lignin was removed with the increase of pretreatment temperature and AS charge. The degradation of hemicellulose became severe at high pretreatment temperature, while cellulose remained stable during the pretreatment process. The enzymatic hydrolysis efficiency of pretreated WSR was increased and then decreased with the increase of the AS charge and pretreatment temperature. The AS charge exerts a stronger effect on enzymatic hydrolysis efficiency than the pretreatment temperature. Glucan and xylan conversion ratios up to 88.9% and 44.9%, respectively, were obtained. The highest total sugar conversion ratio was 67.0% when WSR pretreated with 16% AS at 165℃ was hydrolyzed with a cellulase loading of 40 FPU per gram of glucan. | Yu Zhang JiaQing Lyu ShuJing Zhao YongCan Jin | 2017 | Paper And Biomaterials2017,2,2: | 2

Sulfite-Formaldehyde Pulping and Oxygen Delignification of Wheat Straw显示文摘In this study, wheat straw pulp was prepared by sulfiteformaldehyde(SF) pulping combined with oxygen delignification to develop a sustainable methodology for chemical pulping of straw materials. The bleachability of oxygen-delignified SF pulp was also evaluated by hypochlorite bleaching. The results indicated that the Na_2SO_3 charge played an important role in lignin removal during SF pulping as well as oxygen delignification. The efficiency of oxygen delignification of wheat straw SF pulp was markedly high. After the oxygenation stage, the Kappa number decreased by over 50%(the original Kappa number of SF pulp was lower than 30) when the Na OH charge was in the range of 3%~5%.The optimal conditions for preparing bleached pulp via combined SF pulping and oxygen delignification involved the use of 12% of Na_2SO_3 and 3% of Na OH,respectively.Pulp with relatively high brightness,a low Kappa number,as well as an acceptable viscosity could be obtained when oxygen-delignified SF pulp was bleached with hypochlorite under a low active chlorine dosage. | WenJuan Wu Yu Zhang Bo Jiang YongCan Jin | 2017 | Paper And Biomaterials2017,2,3: | 1

Effects of Rice Straw Steam-explosion Spent Liquor on the Growth of Cabbage Seedlings显示文摘The direct use of spent liquor from pulping and papermaking engineering, which is abundant in active organic matter, can avoid resource wastage and environmental pollution. In this study, the effects of soaking solution and filtrate from steam-exploded rice straw on seed germination and the early development of cabbage were investigated. The results have shown that soaking solution and filtrate stimulated early cabbage growth at low concentrations.Optimal germination potential and the rate of soaking solution-treated cabbage seeds increased by 8%and 5%,respectively;meanwhile,that of the filtrate-treated cabbage seeds increased by 11%and 5%,respectively.Promotion of root growth by steam-exploded rice straw spent liquor was expressed in lateral root multiplication. The fresh weight of cabbage seedlings treated with the soaking solution/filtrate increased by more than 50%and the dry weight over 20%.Comparatively,the stimulation of filtrate on seed germination and early development of cabbage is superior to that of the soaking solution.Steam-exploded rice straw spent liquor is rich in bioactive lignin and oligosaccharides, which makes it a promising biostimulant for promoting crop growth. | Bo Jiang Huan Jiao Xinyu Guo Yu Zhang Yanguang Zhang Yongcan Jin | 2023 | Paper And Biomaterials2023,8,2: | 0
Enhancement of critical-sized bone defect regeneration by magnesium oxide-reinforced 3D scaffold with improved osteogenic and angiogenic properties显示文摘The healing of critical-sized bone defects(CSD)remains a challenge in orthopedic medicine. In recent years, scaffolds with sophisticated microstructures fabricated by the emerging three-dimensional(3D)printing technology have lighted up the treatment of the CSD due to the elaborate microenvironments and support they may build. Here,we established a magnesium oxide-reinforced 3D-printed biocompos-ite scaffold to investigate the effect of magnesium-enriched 3D microenvironment on CSD repairing. The composite was prepared using a biodegradable polymer matrix, polycaprolactone(PCL),and the disper-sion phase, magnesium oxide(MgO).With the appropriate surface treatment by saline coupling agent, the MgO dispersed homogeneously in the polymer matrix, leading to enhanced mechanical performance and steady release of magnesium ion(Mg^(2+))for superior cytocompatibility, higher cell viability, advanced osteogenic differentiation, and cell mineralization capabilities in comparison with the pure PCL.The in-vivo femoral implantation and critical-sized cranial bone defect studies demonstrated the importance of the 3D magnesium microenvironment,as a scaffold that released appropriate Mg^(2+) exhibited remarkably increased bone volume, enhanced angiogenesis, and almost recovered CSD after 8-week implantation.Overall, this study suggests that the magnesium-enriched 3D scaffold is a potential candidate for the treatment of CSD in a cell-free therapeutic approach. | Bo Chen Zhengjie Lin Qimanguli Saiding Yongcan Huang Yi Sun Xinyun Zhai Ziyu Ning Hai Liang Wei Qiao Binsheng Yu Kelvin W.K.Yeung Jie Shen | 2023 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,4: | 0
Vision Enhanced Generative Pre-trained Language Model for Multimodal Sentence Summarization显示文摘Multimodal sentence summarization(MMSS)is a new yet challenging task that aims to generate a concise summary of a long sentence and its corresponding image.Although existing methods have gained promising success in MMSS,they overlook the powerful generation ability of generative pre-trained language models(GPLMs),which have shown to be effective in many text generation tasks. To fill this research gap,we propose to using GPLMs to promote the performance of MMSS.Notably, adopting GPLMs to solve MMSS inevitably faces two challenges:1)What fusion strategy should we use to inject visual information into GPLMs properly?2)How to keep the GPLM′s generation ability intact to the utmost extent when the visual feature is injected into the GPLM.To address these two challenges,we propose a vision enhanced generative pre-trained language model for MMSS,dubbed as Vision-GPLM.In Vision-GPLM,we obtain features of visual and textual modalities with two separate encoders and utilize a text decoder to produce a summary. In particular,we utilize multi-head attention to fuse the features extracted from visual and textual modalities to inject the visual feature into the GPLM.Meanwhile,we train Vision-GPLM in two stages:the vision-oriented pre-training stage and fine-tuning stage. In the vision-oriented pre-training stage,we particularly train the visual encoder by the masked language model task while the other components are frozen, aiming to obtain homogeneous representations of text and image. In the fine-tuning stage,we train all the components of Vision-GPLM by the MMSS task.Extensive experiments on a public MMSS dataset verify the superiority of our model over existing baselines. | Liqiang Jing Yiren Li Junhao Xu Yongcan Yu Pei Shen Xuemeng Song | 2023 | Machine Intelligence Research2023,20,2: | 0
