1Evidences of rapid erosion driven by climate in the Yarlung Zangbo (Tsangpo) Great Canyon,the eastern Himalayan syntaxis显示文摘Climate and tectonism are both particularly intense in the Yarlung Zangbo (Tsangpo) Great Canyon in the eastern Himalayan syntaxis,which is characterized by the most rapid landscape evolution of anywhere in the world.Thus,the eastern Himalayan syntaxis is one of the best locations to study the interactions between climate and tectonics.This paper investigates the cooling ages of the Doxong La-Baibung profile using apatite fission track (AFT) dating on 11 bedrock samples at elevations ranging from 4210 to 710 m.There are topographic,climatic,metamorphic,and thermochronological gradients in the profile,providing good conditions to study interactions between climate and tectonics.AFT ages ranged from 4.6±0.6 Ma to 1.7±0.3 Ma,and the mean fission track lengths ranged from 11.0 to 12.4 μm.It was found that the cooling rates revealed by AFT ages increased with decreasing elevation.However,the tendency of the cooling rates revealed by the 40 Ar-39 Ar ages was different from that indicated by the AFT ages.Moreover,for most districts of the eastern Himalayan syntaxis,the compiled AFT age distribution correlates well with the annual average precipitation,indicating the coupling of the cooling and erosion rates of the near-surface rock and precipitation.The geothermal history modeling results indicate an obvious increase in the cooling and erosion rate between 1.0 and 0.5 Ma.This age is consistent with other research findings for this time,when the vapor channel of the Yarlung Zangbo Great Canyon began to take effect.These evidences suggest that climate,especially precipitation,has acting as a key factor influencing the rapid cooling and erosion in the Yarlung Zangbo Great Canyon since 1-0.5 Ma.YU XiangJiang JI JianQing GONG JunFeng SUN DongXia QING JianChun WANG LiNing ZHONG DaLai ZHANG ZhiCheng 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,11:11

3A review of ecological mechanisms for management practices of protective forests显示文摘A protective forest,including shelterbelt,windbreak,and shelter forest as its synonyms,is characterized by the protective functions of various forest types distributed or planted on ecologically fragile areas or nearby the objects that need to be protected using the ecological effects of forests.Ecological mechanisms for management practices of protective forests is one of the disciplinary orientations in forest ecology and management.Most protective forest studies are dependent on forestry eco-engineering,such as the Great Plains Shelterbelt Project in the United States,the Great Plan for the Transformation of Nature in the Soviet Union,and the Three-North Afforestation Program in China.The development of sustainable management of protective forests has been given increasing attention by governments,scientists,and media due to their impacts on environment conservation and global change.We introduce forestry ecoengineering and provide a review of their main ecological mechanisms for management practices of protective forests.Ecological mechanisms for management systems currently applied are emphasized,i.e.,the theory of protection maturity and phase-directional management;the relationship between structure and protective functions and structural optimization measures;and,the decline mechanism and ecological restoration strategies.In addition,several unresolved problems in management practices of protective forests are discussed as well as the prospects for ecological mechanisms for management practices of protective forests in the future,which include:(1)theories and technologies for management practices of protective forests at the landscape or regional scale;(2)the decline mechanisms and corresponding ecological restoration approaches across multiple scales;and,(3)the comprehensive assessment of forestry eco-engineering at large-scales based on ecosystem principles.Jiaojun Zhu Lining Song Yu Lei 2021Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,2:3
4Immobilization of pyrene on quartz plate surface via a flexible long spacer and its sensing properties to dicarboxylic acids显示文摘A novel photo-induced luminescence film has been prepared by immobilizing pyrene on quartz plate surface via a flexible long spacer, 1,3-diaminopropane and 3-glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane. The film shows combined monomer and excimer emission of pyrene in both wet and dry states. Steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence emission meas-urements demonstrated that the excimer emission mainly came from direct excitation of ground state dimers, and/or monomers in aggregated state. Classical Birks?scheme plays little role in the formation of the excimers. The structures of the excimers formed during the excitation are complex. Both standard excimer of sandwich-like fully overlapped structure and distorted ex-cimer of partially overlapped structure exist in the excited state of the fluorophore. The emission of the film is sensitive to the presence of dicarboxylic acids, including ethanedioic acid, malonic acid, succinic acid, etc. The emission in the monomer and excimer region increases along with increasing the concentration of the dicarboxylic acids. The time needed for the emission to reach equilibrium depends on the nature of the acids. It has been shown that the longer the chain length of the acids, the more the time needed. This observation is explained by considering the conformational reorganization of the immobilized pyrene due to insertion of the dicarboxylic acids into the space between neighboring spacers. Experimental results from similar studies using formic acid and acetic acid are in support of this explanation. 8Development of Three Multiplex PCR Primer Sets for Ark Shell(Scapharca broughtonii)and Their Validation in Parentage Assignment显示文摘Scapharca broughtonii is a commercially important and over-exploited species.In order to investigate its genetic diversity and population structure,43 novel polymorphic microsatellites were isolated and characterized.The number of alleles per locus ranged from 3 to 22 with an average of 6.93,and the observed and expected heterozygosities varied between 0.233 and 1.000,and 0.250 and 0.953,with an average of 0.614 and 0.707,respectively.Three highly informative multiplex PCRs were developed from nine of those microsatellites for S.broughtonii.We evaluated and validated these multiplex PCRs in 8 full-sib families.The average polymorphism information content(PIC) was 0.539.The frequency of null alleles was estimated as 3.13% of all the alleles segregation based on a within-family analysis of Mendelian segregation patterns.Parentage analysis of real offspring demonstrated that 100% of all offspring were unambiguously allocated to a pair of parents based on 3 multiplex sets.Those 43 microsatellite loci with high variability will be helpful for the analysis of population genetics and conservation of wild stock of S.broughtonii.The 3 sets of multiplex PCRs could be an important tool of pedigree reconstruction,population genetic analysis and brood stock management.LINing LI Qi KONG Lingfeng YU Hong 2016Journal of Ocean University of China2016,15,2:1

12Inactivity of YGL082W in vitro due to impairment of conformational change in the catalytic center loop显示文摘MINDY-1 is a recently discovered new family of deubiquitinating enzymes(DUB),but one of its yeast homologs,YGL082 W,does not show any DUB activity in vitro.Sequence alignment shows that YGL082 W possesses the correct catalytic triad,and yet did not catalyze either the hydrolysis of di-ubiquitin,crosslinking with C-terminally propargylated ubiquitin,or hydrolysis of ubiquitin-7-amino-4-methylcoumarin.After obtaining a crystal structure of the catalytic domain of YGL082 W,we identified an interesting difference between the catalytic center loop of YGL082 W and that of its human homolog MINDY-1.Because the conformation of the catalytic center loop was previously reported to be important for the deubiquitination activity of MINDY-1,we hypothesized that Glu27(instead of the corresponding Pro136 in MINDY-1) of the catalytic center loop of YGL082 W may impair the conformational change and account for the lack of activity.This hypothesis was supported by homology modeling and molecular dynamics simulations,which showed that the Pro-to-Glu mutation(P136 E mutation for MINDY-1) creates a hydrogen bond that inhibits the conformation change of the catalytic center loop of MINDY-1.Further experiments through site-directed mutation validated this hypothesis,showing that the P27 E mutation caused MIY1(a homologous active DUB from yeast) to lose activity.Lining Lu Yu Guo Tian Wang Lujun Liang Suwen Zhao Feng Wang Lei Liu 2020Science China Chemistry2020,63,2:1
13Squeezing More Past Knowledge for Online Class-Incremental Continual Learning显示文摘Continual learning(CL)studies the problem of learning to accumulate knowledge over time from a stream of data.A crucial challenge is that neural networks suffer from performance degradation on previously seen data,known as catastrophic forgetting,due to allowing parameter sharing.In this work,we consider a more practical online class-incremental CL setting,where the model learns new samples in an online manner and may continuously experience new classes.Moreover,prior knowledge is unavailable during training and evaluation.Existing works usually explore sample usages from a single dimension,which ignores a lot of valuable supervisory information.To better tackle the setting,we propose a novel replay-based CL method,which leverages multi-level representations produced by the intermediate process of training samples for replay and strengthens supervision to consolidate previous knowledge.Specifically,besides the previous raw samples,we store the corresponding logits and features in the memory.Furthermore,to imitate the prediction of the past model,we construct extra constraints by leveraging multi-level information stored in the memory.With the same number of samples for replay,our method can use more past knowledge to prevent interference.We conduct extensive evaluations on several popular CL datasets,and experiments show that our method consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods with various sizes of episodic memory.We further provide a detailed analysis of these results and demonstrate that our method is more viable in practical scenarios.Da Yu Mingyi Zhang Mantian Li Fusheng Zha Junge Zhang Lining Sun Kaiqi Huang 2023IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2023,10,3:1

16Observations and modelling of the travel time delay and leading negative phase of the 16 September 2015 Illapel,Chile tsunami显示文摘The systematic discrepancies in both tsunami arrival time and leading negative phase(LNP)were identified for the recent transoceanic tsunami on 16 September 2015 in Illapel,Chile by examining the wave characteristics from the tsunami records at 21 Deep-ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunami(DART)sites and 29 coastal tide gauge stations.The results revealed systematic travel time delay of as much as 22 min(approximately 1.7%of the total travel time)relative to the simulated long waves from the 2015 Chilean tsunami.The delay discrepancy was found to increase with travel time.It was difficult to identify the LNP from the near-shore observation system due to the strong background noise,but the initial negative phase feature became more obvious as the tsunami propagated away from the source area in the deep ocean.We determined that the LNP for the Chilean tsunami had an average duration of 33 min,which was close to the dominant period of the tsunami source.Most of the amplitude ratios to the first elevation phase were approximately 40%,with the largest equivalent to the first positive phase amplitude.We performed numerical analyses by applying the corrected long wave model,which accounted for the effects of seawater density stratification due to compressibility,self-attraction and loading(SAL)of the earth,and wave dispersion compared with observed tsunami waveforms.We attempted to accurately calculate the arrival time and LNP,and to understand how much of a role the physical mechanism played in the discrepancies for the moderate transoceanic tsunami event.The mainly focus of the study is to quantitatively evaluate the contribution of each secondary physical effect to the systematic discrepancies using the corrected shallow water model.Taking all of these effects into consideration,our results demonstrated good agreement between the observed and simulated waveforms.We can conclude that the corrected shallow water model can reduce the tsunami propagation speed and reproduce the LNP,which is observed for tsunamis that have propagated over long distances frequently.The travel time delay between the observed and corrected simulated waveforms is reduced to<8 min and the amplitude discrepancy between them was also markedly diminished.The incorporated effects amounted to approximately 78%of the travel time delay correction,with seawater density stratification,SAL,and Boussinesq dispersion contributing approximately 39%,21%,and 18%,respectively.The simulated results showed that the elastic loading and Boussinesq dispersion not only affected travel time but also changed the simulated waveforms for this event.In contrast,the seawater stratification only reduced the tsunami speed,whereas the earth’s elasticity loading was responsible for LNP due to the depression of the seafloor surrounding additional tsunami loading at far-field stations.This study revealed that the traditional shallow water model has inherent defects in estimating tsunami arrival,and the leading negative phase of a tsunami is a typical recognizable feature of a moderately strong transoceanic tsunami.These results also support previous theory and can help to explain the observed discrepancies.Peitao Wang Zhiyuan Ren Lining Sun Jingming Hou Zongchen Wang Ye Yuan Fujiang Yu 2021Acta Oceanologica Sinica2021,40,11:0
