1Ethnic Differences in Preterm Birth Risks for Pregnant Women with Thyroid Dysfunction or Autoimmunity:A Meta-analysis显示文摘Objective Abnormal maternal thyroid function is associated with preterm birth.However,this association stays dubious in relevant individual studies for ethnic difference reasons and lack of direct supporting data.This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between preterm birth and thyroid dysfunction or autoimmunity based on ethnic differences.Methods Relevant studies were identified through searches of MEDLINE,Excerpta Medica,Wan Fang,China Biological Medicine disc,and China National Knowledge Infrastructure from inception to June 15,2016.Original articles in which an incidence or prevalence of thyroid dysfunction or autoimmunity before second trimester of pregnancy could be extracted were included.Results Thirty-two unique studies were included for the final meta-analysis.Patients involved were divided into two groups:Group 1(G1) and Group 2(G2) comprising of Asian and Caucasian populations,respectively.Positive thyroid antibodies were associated with the occurrence of preterm birth in both G1 [odds ratio(OR):3.62,95% confidence interval(CI):2.83-4.65] and G2(OR:1.35,95% CI:1.17-1.56);hypothyroidism,only in G2(OR:1.20,CI:1.09-1.33);and subclinical hypothyroidism or hypothyroxinemia,in neither group.Conclusion Thyroid autoimmunity may be a more favorable factor leading to preterm birth among pregnant women of different ethnicities,compared with thyroid dysfunction.LI Min WANG Shao Wei WU Feng Li SHI Jin YU Pu Lin PENG Xiu Ling SUN Liang 2016Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2016,29,10:5
2Malnutrition Increases the Risk of Mortality in Hospitalized Lung Cancer Patients显示文摘Background The Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition(GLIM)recently developed a new set of diagnostic criteria for identifying patients with malnutrition.Because the GLIM criteria were only introduced a little over 3 years ago,additional validation and reliability testing are needed in a variety of populations.Methods We performed an observational,multicenter cohort study.From July 2013 to October 2018,lung cancer patients were recruited from the Daping Hospital of Army Medical University and the First Hospital of Jilin University as part of the INSCOC project.Previously-established cut-off values for the calf circumference(CC,male<30 cm,female<29.5 cm)were applied as the reduced muscal mass of phenotypic criteria to establish the GLIM diagnosis.Multivariate Cox regression analyses were performed to analyze the association between the GLIM criteria and survival.Results A total of 1219 patients with lung cancer were studied as subjects.Their age was 58.81±9.92 years old,and 820 were male and 399 were female.According to the GLIM diagnostic criteria using the CC as a muscle mass measurement,303 patients(24.9%)were categorized as malnourished,142 patients(23.1%)in the adult group(18≤age<60)and 161 patients(26.7%)in the older group(age≥60 years).The patients with malnutrition had a higher incidence of anemia than the nourished patients(P=0.012).The QLQ-C30 score and KPS score indicating that the malnourished patients had a consistently worse quality of life compared to the nourished group(all P<0.001).The median survival of the malnutrition group was 42(95%CI:34-50)months,which was much shorter than the 62(95%CI:57-66)months in the nourished group(P<0.001).In the adult group,the median survival decreased from 65(95%CI:55-72)months in nourished group to 34(95%CI:25-48)months in the patients with malnutrition(P<0.001).In the older group,it decreased from 61(95%CI:55-67)months to 48(95%CI:39-59)months(P=0.001).A Cox regression analysis showed that GLIM-diagnosed malnutrition was associated with an increased risk of death among adult group(HR=1.670,95%CI:1.29-2.16),older group(HR=1.332,95%CI:1.05-1.69)and overall(HR=1.453,95%CI:1.22-1.72).Conclusion All of these results demonstrate that GLIM-diagnosed malnutrition is associated with a poorer survival for all lung cancer patients,independent of age.Fei Fei Chong Liang Yu Yin Jie Liu Na Li Jing Guo Yang Fan Meng Yuan Zhang Ling Zhang Xiu Mei He Hong Mei Zhang Mu Li Shi Wei Li Hong Xia Xu 2022Journal of Nutritional Oncology2022,7,1:4
3Optimal Waist Circumference Cut-off values for Identifying Metabolic Risk Factors in Middle-aged and Elderly Subjects in Shandong Province of China显示文摘Objective To study the optimal waist circumference(WC) cut-off values for identifying metabolic risk factors in middle-aged and elderly subjects in Shandong Province of China. Methods A total of 2 873 men and 5 559 women were included in this cross-sectional study. Metabolic syndrome(MetS) was diagnosed according to the definition of Chinese Diabetes Society in 2004. The relation between WC and MetS was analyzed by multivariate logistic regression analysis. The optimal WC cut-off values were identified using the area under the ROC curve and the different diagnostic criteria for central obesity were compared. Results The WC was the risk factor for MetS independent of BMI, blood glucose, blood lipid, and blood pressure. The optimal WC cut-off value was 83.8 cm and 91.1 cm for identifying MetS in women and men, respectively. Compared with 80 cm and 85 cm for women and men, 85 cm and 90 cm had a higher Youden index for identifying all metabolic risk factors and MetS in women and men. 10Rapid Detection of Rifampin-resistant Clinical Isolates of Mycobacterium tuberculosis by Reverse Dot Blot Hybridization显示文摘Objective A PCR-reverse dot blot hybridization(RDBH) assay was developed for rapid detection of rpo B gene mutations in ‘hot mutation region' of Mycobacterium tuberculosis(M. tuberculosis). Methods 12 oligonucleotide probes based on the wild-type and mutant genotype rpoB sequences of M. tuberculosis were designed to screen the most frequent wild-type and mutant genotypes for diagnosing RIF resistance. 300 M. tuberculosis clinical isolates were detected by RDBH, conventional drug-susceptibility testing(DST) and DNA sequencing to evaluate the RDBH assay. Results The sensitivity and specificity of the RDBH assay were 91.2%(165/181) and 98.3%(117/119), respectively, as compared to DST. When compared with DNA sequencing, the accuracy, positive predictive value(PPV) and negative predictive value(NPV) of the RDBH assay were 97.7%(293/300), 98.2%(164/167), and 97.0%(129/133), respectively. Furthermore, the results indicated that the most common mutations were in codons 531(48.6%), 526(25.4%), 516(8.8%), and 511(6.6%), and the combinative mutation rate was 15(8.3%). One and two strains of insertion and deletion were found among all strains, respectively. 15Synthesis and Structure of Vanadium-barium Complex of 2,4,6-Tripicolinato with 20-Member Macrocyclic Cavities显示文摘A new heteronuclear complex, dimer [(2-OH2)2Ba2(H2O)4][VO2(tpa)]24H2O (tpa: 2,4,6-tripicolinate trianion), was synthesized and structurally determined by X-ray diffraction technique where all hydrogen atoms have been located directly. The coordination geometry of V(V) ion is a distorted trigonal bipyrimid and that of Ba(II) ion is a capped square antiprism. One 2-O bridging bond and two hydrogen bonds act between the coordination geometries. 18Genomic characterization reveals distinctmutation landscapes and therapeutic implications in neuroendocrine carcinomas of the gastrointestinal tract显示文摘Background:Neuroendocrine carcinomas of the gastrointestinal tract(GINECs)remain a disease of grim prognosis with limited therapeutic options.Their molecular characteristics are still undefined.This study aimed to explore the underlying genetic basis and heterogeneity of GI-NECs.Methods:Comprehensive genomic analysis using whole-exome sequencing was performed on 143 formalin-fixed,paraffin-embedded samples of surgically resected GI-NEC with a thorough histological evaluation.Mutational signatures,somatic mutations,and copy number aberrations were analyzed and compared across anatomic locations and histological subtypes.Survival analysis was conducted to identify the independent factors.Results:In total,143GI-NECswere examined:the stomach,87 cases(60.8%);the esophagus,29 cases(20.3%);the colorectum,20 cases(14.0%);and the small intestine,7 cases(4.9%).Eighty-three(58.0%)and 60(42.0%)cases were subclassified into small cell and large cell subtypes,respectively.GI-NECs showed distinct genetic alterations from their lung counterparts and non-neuroendocrine carcinomas in the same locations.Obvious heterogeneity of mutational signatures,somatic mutations,and copy number variations was revealed across anatomic locations rather than histological subtypes.Except for tumor protein p53(TP53)and retinoblastoma 1(RB1),the most frequently mutated genes in the stomach,esophagus,colorectum,and small intestine were low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1B(LRP1B),notch receptor 1(NOTCH1),adenomatosis polyposis coli(APC),catenin beta 1(CTNNB1),respectively.Mutations in the WNT-β-catenin,NOTCH and erythroblastic leukemia viral oncogene B(ERBB)pathwayswere prevalently identified in gastric,esophageal,and colorectalNECs,respectively.Importantly,104(72.7%)GI-NECs harbored putative clinically relevant alterations,and non-gastric location and RB1 bi-allelic inactivation with copy number alterations were identified as two independent poor prognostic factors.Furthermore,we found that tumor cells in GI-NECs first gain clonal mutations in TP53,RB1,NOTCH1 and APC,followed by subsequent wholegenome doubling(WGD)and post-WGD clonal mutations in LRP1B,CUB and Sushi multiple domains 3(CSMD3),FAT tumor suppressor homolog 4(FAT4)and erb-b2 receptor tyrosine kinase 4(ERBB4),and finally develop subclonal mutations.Conclusions:GI-NECs harbor distinct genomic landscapes and demonstrate significant genetic heterogeneity across different anatomic locations.Moreover,potentially actionable alterations and prognostic factors were revealed for GI-NECs.Huanwen Wu Zicheng Yu Yueping Liu Lei Guo Lianghong Teng Lingchuan Guo Li Liang Jing Wang Jie Gao Ruiyu Li Ling Yang Xiu Nie Dan Su Zhiyong Liang 2022Cancer Communications2022,42,12:0
