3Portosplenomesenteric vein thrombosis in patients with early-stage severe acute pancreatitis显示文摘AIM To investigate the incidence and risk factors of portosplenomesenteric vein thrombosis(PSMVT) in the early stage of severe acute pancreatitis(SAP).METHODS Patients with SAP in a tertiary care setting from January 2014 to December 2016 were retrospectively reviewed. All contrast-enhanced computed tomography(CT) studies were reassessed and reviewed. Clinical outcome measures were compared between SAP patients with and without PSMVT in the early stage of the disease. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were sequentially performed to assess potential risk factors for the development of PSMVT in SAP patients. A receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve was generated for the qualifying independent risk factors.RESULTS Twenty-five of the one hundred and forty(17.86%) SAP patients developed PSMVT 6.19 ± 2.43 d after acute pancreatitis(AP) onset. PSMVT was confirmed by contrast-enhanced CT. Multivariate stepwise logistic regression analyses showed that Balthazar's CT severity index(CTSI) scores [odds ratio(OR): 2.742; 95% confidence interval(CI): 1.664-4.519; P = 0.000], hypoalbuminemia(serum albumin level < 25 g/L)(OR: 32.573; 95%CI: 2.711-391.353; P = 0.006) and gastrointestinal wall thickening(OR: 4.367, 95%CI: 1.218-15.658; P = 0.024) were independent risk factors for PSMVT developed in patients with SAP. 4A Possible Dynamic Mechanism for Rapid Production of the Extreme Hourly Rainfall in Zhengzhou City on 20 July 2021显示文摘In this study,the unprecedented extreme rainfall event during 19-20 July 2021,which caused devastating flooding in Zhengzhou City and its nearby areas,is examined based on observational data analysis and WRF model 40-h simulations on 1-km horizontal resolution.The results show that the model successfully reproduces(i)major synopticscale weather systems(i.e.,the western Pacific subtropical high,the Tibetan high,two typhoons,and the Huang-Huai cyclone),(ii)convective initiation along the east to north edge of the Songshan Mountain,where orographic lifting is obvious,and(iii)subsequent formation of the convective storm producing the extreme rainfall in Zhengzhou.In particular,the model generates the maximum rainfall rate of 233 mm h^(-1)and 40-h accumulated rainfall of 704 mm,corresponding well to the observed extreme values of 201.9 mm h^(-1)and 818 mm,at nearly observed timing and location.Importantly,the model reproduces an intense quasi-stationary,well-organized meso-γ-scale convective system,surrounded by an arc-shaped convergence zone,allowing the development of convective updrafts in a three-quarter circle around the convective system,in a way similar to“multidirectional pumping,”attracting all associated precipitation overlaid and concentrated into the same trailing region to generate the extreme hourly rainfall over Zhengzhou.Our study emphasizes the significant contribution of the unique dynamic structure of the well-organized meso-γ-scale convective system to the record-high hourly rainfall.A possible dynamic mechanism for short-time extreme rainfall production is proposed.That is,the arc-shaped convergence zone of the mesoscale convective system,acting like multidirectional lifting pumps,transports precipitation from different directions into the same region,and thus produces the extreme rainfall.The results gained herein may shed new light on better understanding and forecasting of short-time extreme rainfall.Jinfang YIN Haodong GU Xudong LIANG Miao YU Jisong SUN Yanxin XIE Feng LI Chong WU 2022Journal of Meteorological Research2022,36,1:17
5Global overview of research progress and development of precision maize planters显示文摘Maize is the most important crop for food and widely used for industrial materials,leading to its increasing demand all over the world.Precision planting is the effective method to increase maize yield.To meet the agronomic requirement of precision planting,different kinds of precision maize planters were developed.However,because of the difference of geographical environment,cropping system,farm scale and economic status among different countries,types of maize planters are various and the technologies involved are at different levels.This paper summarizes the precision maize planters currently available in the world and classifies them into four types:precision planters for tilled-land,minimum/no tilled-land,hilly&small land,and cold&arid land.Detailed characteristics have been provided for some typical precision planters and comparisons were made as to their suitability under particular working conditions.High-efficiency and high-accuracy are the main features of precision planters for tilled-land,while the ability to clean residue from seed rows and prevent planters to be blocked are the important function of precision planters for minimum/no tilled-land.To fit for hilly&small land,planters should be light-weighted and small-sized,and to warm up soil and keep moisture,planters for cold&arid land should be equipped with plastic-film mulching mechanism.Finally,developing trend of precision planting technology was analyzed and suggestions,including policy support and technical improvement,were made for developing countries to make suitable precision maize planters according to the local geographical conditions and cropping systems.Yang Li Yan Bingxin Cui Tao Yu Yiming He Xiantao Liu Quanwei Liang Zhijie Yin Xiaowei Zhang Dongxing 2016International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2016,9,1:17

7Environmental Factors Affecting Temporal and Spatial Dynamics of Soil Erosion in Xingguo County, South China显示文摘By using soil erosion maps of four different time periods and a digital elevation model (DEM), in combination withthe remote sensing and GIS technologies, soil erosion dynamics in Xingguo County of Jiangxi Province in South Chinawere analyzed on both temporal and spatial scales in soils of different parent materials, altitudes and slopes. The resultsshowed that from 1958 to 2000 severe soil erosion was coming under control with a decreasing percentage of the land undersevere erosion. It was also found that the soils developed from Quaternary red clay, granite and purple shale were moresusceptible to soil erosion and that areas sitting between 200 to 500 m in altitude with a slope less than 3° or between7° to 20° where human activities were frequent remained to be zones where soil erosion was most likely to occur. 8Propofol differentially induces unconsciousness and respiratory depression through distinct interactions between GABAa receptor and GABAergic neuron in corresponding nuclei显示文摘Propofol is the most commonly used intravenous anesthetic worldwide.It can induce loss of consciousness prior to the occurrence of severe respiratory suppression,which is also a pharmacodynamic feature of all general anesthetics.However,the neural mechanisms underlying this natural phenomenon are controversial and highly related to patient safety.In the present study,we demonstrated that the pharmacodynamic effects of propofol(50 and 100 μM)on suppression of consciousness-related excitatory postsynaptic currents in the medial prefrontal cortex(mPFC)and centromedian nucleus of the thalamus(CMT)were lower than those in the kernel respiratory rhythmogenesis nucleus pre-Botzinger complex(PrBo).Furthermore,we unexpectedly found that the GABAa receptor β3 subunit is the key target for propofol's action and that it is mutually and exclusively expressed in GABAergic neurons.It is also more abundant in the mPFC and CMT,but mainly co-localized with GABAergic neurons in the PrBo.As a result,the differentiated expression pattern should mediate more neuron suppression through the activation of GABAergic neurons in the mPFC and CMT at low doses of propofol(50 μM).However,PrBo GABAergic neurons were only activated by propofol at a high dose(100 μM).These results highlight the detailed pharmacodynamic effects of propofol on consciousness-related and respiration-related nuclei and provide the distinct interaction mechanism between the β3 subunit and GABAergic neurons in mediating the suppression of consciousness compared to the inhibition of respiration.Junli Jiang Yingfu Jiao Po Gao Wen Yin Wei Zhou Yunchun Zhang Yanjun Liu Daxiang Wen Yuan Wang Liang Zhou Tian Yu Weifeng Yu 2021Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,8:11

12Hepatitis B virus induces expression of cholesterol metabolism-related genes via TLR2 in HepG2 cells显示文摘AIM:To investigate whether hepatitis B virus(HBV) exacerbates hepatic cholesterol accumulation,and explore the underlying mechanisms.METHODS:HepG2 cells were infected with adenovirus(Ad) containing 1.3-fold overlength HBV genome.Realtime polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting were used to measure mRNA and protein expression of target genes.Cholesterol accumulation was measured by fluorescence microscopy.Cell toxicity due to Ad-HBV treatment was determined by the mitochondrial tetrazolium assay.The protein levels of toll-like receptors(TLRs) were determined by Western blotting.RESULTS:Ad-HBV increased hepatic cholesterol accumulation and enhanced the mRNA and protein levels oflow-density lipoprotein receptor(LDLR) and 3-hydroxy3-methylglutharyl-coenzyme A reductase(HMGCoAr) mRNA and protein expression in HepG2 cells.In addition,these inductive effects were partly offset by suppressing TLR2 expression levels by small interfering RNA in HepG2 cells.CONCLUSION:Ad-HBV increases LDLR and HMGCoAr expression,resulting in exacerbated cholesterol accumulation in HepG2 cells,which was mediated via the TLR2 pathway.Ying-Ju Li Ping Zhu Yu Liang Wei-Guo Yin Jian-Hua Xiao 2013World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,14:8
13Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. 15The Relationship between Polymorphisms at 17 Gene Sites and Hypertension among the Aboriginal Tibetan People显示文摘Objective The incidence of hypertension in Tibet ranks highest among all Chinese provinces. This may be due to genetic changes caused by Tibet's unique natural environment and agrarian lifestyle, prompting us to investigated the relationship between gene polymorphisms and hypertension. Methods Blood samples were collected from 229 hypertensive participants and 372 healthy (control) participants from five Tibetan counties. Seventeen single nucleotide polymorphisms were investigated for their connection to hypertension. Results The C allele at rs2070744 of the NOS3 gene was shown to be significantly associated with hypertension (P=0.0443; OR=1.636). Additionally, the T allele of rs4961 of the ADD gene was correlated with hypertension in women (P=0.03124; OR=1.584). Conclusion In this study we found that the NOS3 and ADD genes were related to a high incidence of hypertension among Tibetans. NOS3 gene plays a role in regulating vascular tone and blood vessel diameter, which may be altered by the low-oxygen environment of Tibet. ADD is involved in water and salt metabolism, which is consistent with the high-salt diet of Tibetans. 18Adipocyte-derived SFRP5 inhibits breast cancer cells migration and invasion through Wnt and epithelial-mesenchymal transition signaling pathways显示文摘Objective:Obesity is closely associated with metastasis in breast cancer patients.Secreted frizzled-related protein 5(SFRP5),one of the novel adipokines with anti-inflammatory properties,is associated with obesity.This study aims to study the role of SFRP5 in the crosstalk between obesity and breast cancer metastasis and identify the underlying mechanism.Methods:3T3-L1 pre-adipocytes were differentiated to mature adipocytes and a hypertrophic adipocyte model was induced with palmitic acid(PA).Cell motility was measured in MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 breast cancer cells co-cultured with adipocytes conditioned medium(CM)with or without SFRP5 protein.Wnt and epithelialmesenchymal transition(EMT)signal pathways were investigated by western blot.Circulating SFRP5 level in 218 breast cancer patients and the association with clinicopathologic characteristics of breast cancer were further determined.Online databases ENCORI and PREDICT Plus were used to exam the link between SFRP5 and prognosis.Results:Reduced SFRP5 level was detected in the hypertrophic adipocyte model.Recombinant SFRP5 protein inhibited MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cells invasion and migration induced by PA-treated adipocyte CM,and SFRP5 inhibition by specific antibody reversed the effect of SFRP5.Furthermore,SFRP5 significantly inhibited Wnt and downstream EMT in breast cancer cells.Low circulating SFRP5 level correlated with body mass index(BMI),lymph node(LN)metastasis,TNM stage and high Ki67 expression in breast cancer patients.Increased SFRP5 level was associated with favorable predicted survival.Kaplan-Meier curves showed high SFRP5 level in tumor tissue was associated with better outcome of breast cancer patients.Conclusions:Our findings demonstrated SFRP5 is a vital adipokine that mediates the crosslink between obesity and the metastatic potential of breast cancer.Promotion of SFRP5 expression in the adipose microenvironment may represent a novel approach for preventing breast cancer metastasis.Wenzhong Zhou Chunmiao Ye Liang Li Liyuan Liu Fei Wang Lixiang Yu Fei Zhou Yujuan Xiang Yongjiu Wang Gengshen Yin Zhongbing Ma Qinye Fu Qiang Zhang Dezong Gao Shuya Huang Zhigang Yu 2020Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2020,32,3:5
