1Does urodynamics predict voiding after benign prostatic hyperplasia surgery in patients with detrusor underactivity?显示文摘Objective:We sought to determine if urodynamic study(UDS)predicted voiding outcomes in men with detrusor underactivity(DU)and benign prostatic enlargement(BPE)who underwent photovaporization of the prostate(PVP).Methods:Between September 2010 and July 2015,106 male patients with BPE and DU were identified.All patients underwent PVP.Urinary retention was noted by the preoperative necessity for an indwelling or intermittent catheter.Data collection included comorbidities,quality of life(QoL)scores,prostate volume,prostate-specific antigen(PSA),UDS and perioperative outcomes.UDS parameters included volume at first desire to void,volume at first urge to void,volume of severe urge,volume at capacity,compliance,detrusor contractions,maximum urinary flow rate(Qmax),and postvoid residual(PVR).Results:A total of 106 men were included in this analysis,who had urinary retention with a Foley catheter or clean intermittent catheterization(CIC)at the time of surgery.At baseline we found patients who voided had a detrusor pressure at Qmax(Pdet@Qmax)of 10.05±6.45 cmH2O compared to 16.78±12.17 cmH2O in those who did not void(p=0.071).Postoperatively,96(90.6%,mean age 76.9±26.2 years)of patients voided successfully while 10(9.4%,mean age 80.52±9.61 years)of patients remained in urinary retention.Mean baseline Qmax was 4.895±5.452 mL/s and 2.900±3.356 mL/s(p=0.087)in those who voided and did not respectively.PVR was 319.23±330.62 mL in those who voided and 276.88263.27 mL(p=0.344)in those who did not void.No UDS parameter predicted who would void postoperatively or improvements in QoL.Conclusions:The patients with DU and BPE might be able to successfully void after undergoing PVP regardless of UDS findings.All men who voided had improved international prostate symptom score and QoL scores compared to baseline and these parameters were durable up to 12 months.Dominique Thomas Kevin C.Zorn Nadir Zaidi Stephanie Ashley Chen Yiye Zhang Alexis Te Bilal Chughtai 2019Asian Journal of Urology2019,6,3:8
2Pollen wall pattern in Arabidopsis显示文摘The pollen wall is a solid and variously sculptured structure. This pattern is determined inside a tetrad. During meiosis, the callose wall is formed outside of the meiocyte/microspore to form a tetrad. Then, primexine is deposited between the callose wall and the microspore plasma membrane which will become undulated. The sporopollenin deposits on top of the undulated membrane and develops into the pollen wall pattern, while the callose wall is gradually degraded. In recent years, much progress has been made in the study of pollen wall pattern formation, at both molecular and genetic levels. 3MPK14-mediated auxin signaling controls lateral root development via ERF13-regulated very-long-chain fatty acid biosynthesis显示文摘Auxin plays a critical role in lateral root(LR)formation.The signaling module composed of auxin-response factors(ARFs)and lateral organ boundaries domain transcription factors mediates auxin signaling to control almost every stage of LR development.Here,we show that auxin-induced degradation of the APETALA2/Ethylene Responsive Factor(AP2/ERF)transcription factor ERF13,dependent on MITOGENACTIVATED PROTEIN KINASE MPK14-mediated phosphorylation,plays an essential role in LR development.Overexpression of ERF13 results in restricted passage of the LR primordia through the endodermal layer,greatly reducing LR emergence,whereas the erf13 mutants showed an increase in emerged LR.ERF13 inhibits the expression of 3-ketoacyl-CoA synthase16(KCS16),which encodes a fatty acid elongase involved in very-long-chain fatty acid(VLCFA)biosynthesis.Overexpression of KCS16 or exogenous VLCFA treatment rescues the LR emergence defects in ERF13 overexpression lines,indicating a role downstream of the auxin-MPK14-ERF13 signaling module.Collectively,our study uncovers a novel molecular mechanism by which MPK14-mediated auxin signaling modulates LR development via ERF13-regulated VLCFA biosynthesis.Bingsheng Lv Kaijing Wei Kongqin Hu Te Tian Feng Zhang Zipeng Yu Dajian Zhang Yinghua Su Yalin Sang Xiansheng Zhang Zhaojun Ding 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,2:6
4Decomposition of hexachlorobenzene over Al_2O_3 supported metal oxidecatalysts显示文摘Decomposition of hexachlorobenzene(HCB)was investigated over several metal oxides(i.e.,MgO,CaO,BaO,La2O3,CeO2,MnO2, Fe2O3,and Co3O4)supported on Al2O3,which was achieved in closed system at a temperature of 300°C.Catalysts were prepared by incipient wetness impregnation with different metal oxides loading and impregnating solvents.The decomposition effciency of different catalysts for this reaction depends on the nature of the metal oxide used,and Al2O3 supported La2O3 was found to be the most active one.Pentachlorobenzene(PeCB),and all tetrachlorobenzene(TeCB),trichlorobenzene(TrCB),and dichlorobenzene(DCB)isomers were detected after the decomposition reaction,indicating that the decomposition was mainly a dechlorination process.The detection of all lower chlorinated benzenes suggested the complexity of decomposition and the presence of more than one dechlorination pathway.Lifei ZHANG Minghui ZHENG Bing ZHANG Wenbin LIU Lirong GAO Te BA Zhiyuan REN Guijin SU 2008Journal of Environmental Sciences2008,20,12:4
5Paris saponin Ⅶ,a direct activator of AMPK,induces autophagy and exhibits therapeutic potential in non-small-cell lung cancer显示文摘Paris saponinⅦ(PSⅦ),a bioactive constituent extracted from Trillium tschonoskii Maxim.,is cytotoxic to several cancer types.This study was designed to explore whether PSⅦprevents non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC)proliferation and to investigate its molecular target.AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK)has been implicated in the activation of autophagy in distinct tissues.In cultured human NSCLC cell lines,PSⅦinduces autophagy by activating AMPK and inhibiting m TOR signaling.Furthermore,PSⅦ-induced autophagy activation was reversed by the AMPK inhibitor compound C.Computational docking analysis showed that PSⅦdirectly interacted with the allosteric drug and metabolite site of AMPK to stabilize its activation.Microscale thermophoresis assay and drug affinity responsive target stability assay further confirmed the high affinity between PSⅦand AMPK.In summary,PSⅦacts as a direct AMPK activator to induce cell autophagy,which inhibits the growth of NSCLC cells.In the future,PSⅦtherapy should be applied to treat patients with NSCLC.XIANG Yu-Chen SHEN Jie SI Yuan LIU Xue-Wen ZHANG Liang WEN Jun ZHANG Te YU Qing-Qing LU Jun-Fei XIANG Ke LIU Ying 2021Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2021,19,3:4

The width and doping density of graded region are decided through a comparative study. The P-type DBR of 980 nm VCSELs is designed with Al0.9Ga0.1As and Al0.1Ga0.9As selected as the high and low refractive index material for the DBR. The 980 nm bottom VCSELs,which consists of 30 pairs P-type DBR and 28 pairs N-type DBR,are then fabricated. In P-type DBR,the width of graded region is 0.02 μm and the uniformity doping concentration is 2.5×1018cm-3. Its reflectivity is 99.9%. In N-type DBR,the width of graded region is also 0.02 μm and the uniformity doping concen-tration is 2×1018cm-3. Its reflectivity is 99.3%. The I-V curve shows that the series resistance of the device is about 0.05 Ω. 7Controlling plasmon‐exciton interactions through photothermal reshaping显示文摘We investigated the plasmon-exciton interactions in an individual gold nanorod(GNR)with monolayer MoS2 at room temperature with the single-particle spectroscopy technique.To control the plasmon-exciton interaction,we tuned the local surface plasmon resonance of an individual GNR in-situ by employing the photothermal reshaping effect.The scattering spectra of the GNR-MoS2 hybrids exhibited two dips at the frequencies of the A and B excitons of monolayer MoS2,which were caused by the plasmon-induced resonance energy transfer effect.The resonance energy transfer rate increased when the surface plasmon resonance of the nanorod matched well with the exciton transition energy.Also,we demonstrated that the plasmon-enhanced fluorescence process dominated the photoluminescence of the GNR-MoS2 hybrid.These results provide a flexible way to control the plasmon-exciton interaction in an all-solid-state operating system at room temperature.Aiqin Hu Shuai Liu Jingyi Zhao Te Wen Weidong Zhang Qihuang Gong Yongqiang Meng Yu Ye Guowei Lu 2020Opto-Electronic Advances2020,3,1:2

17Antioxidant systems of aquatic macrophytes in three life forms:a case study in Lake Erhai,China显示文摘Antioxidant systems are vital in life activities of macrophytes. Species with diff erent life forms need to cope with distinct environments by modifying physiological characters, especially antioxidant systems. In order to find diff erences among life forms and consequence of lake eutrophication, we studied three antioxidant enzymes activity (superoxide dismutase (SOD), ascorbate oxidase (APX) and catalase (CAT)) and total soluble phenolics (TP) content in leaves of 26 macrophyte species in September 2013 in Lake Erhai, China. We found that antioxidation varied accordingly with life forms. The activities of SOD and APX in emergent macrophytes (EM) and floating-leaved macrophytes (FM) were much lower than those of submerged macrophytes (SM). On the contrary, TP content was much higher in EM and FM species. There was a negative correlation between TP and antioxidant enzyme activities (CAT and APX). The results suggested that EM and FM species rely on phenolics might to adapt to adverse environments (higher herbivores predation pressure and UV radiation intensity), while SM species more rely on antioxidant enzymes possibly due to lower demand for antioxidation and/or lack of light and inorganic C availability for phenolics synthesis. We also found FM species represent highest fitness in term of antioxidant system, which would lead to overgrowth of FM species and littoral zone bogginess during lake eutrophication. 19Paris saponin VII,a Hippo pathway activator,induces autophagy and exhibits therapeutic potential against human breast cancer cells显示文摘Dysregulation of the Hippo signaling pathway seen in many types of cancer is usually associated with a poor prognosis.Paris saponin VII(PSVII)is a steroid saponin isolated from traditional Chinese herbs with therapeutic action against various human cancers.In this study we investigated the effects of PSVII on human breast cancer(BC)cells and its anticancer mechanisms.We showed that PSVII concentration-dependently inhibited the proliferation of MDA-MB-231,MDA-MB-436 and MCF-7 BC cell lines with IC_(50) values of 3.16,3.45,and 2.86μM,respectively,and suppressed their colony formation.PSVII(1.2-1.8μM)induced caspase-dependent apoptosis in the BC cell lines.PSVII treatment also induced autophagy and promoted autophagic flux in the BC cell lines.PSVII treatment decreased the expression and nuclear translocation of Yes-associated protein(YAP),a downstream transcriptional effector in the Hippo signaling pathway;overexpression of YAP markedly attenuated PSVII-induced autophagy.PSVII-induced,YAP-mediated autophagy was associated with increased active form of LATS1,an upstream effector of YAP.The activation of LATS1 was involved the participation of multiple proteins(including MST2,MOB1,and LATS1 itself)in an MST2-dependent sequential activation cascade.We further revealed that PSVII promoted the binding of LATS1 with MST2 and MOB1,and activated LATS1 in the BC cell lines.Molecular docking showed that PSVII directly bound to the MST2-MOB1-LATS1 ternary complex.Microscale thermophoresis analysis and drug affinity responsive targeting stability assay confirmed the high affinity between PSVII and the MST2-MOB1-LATS1 ternary complex.In mice bearing MDA-MB-231 cell xenograft,administration of PSVII(1.5 mg/kg,ip,4 times/week,for 4 weeks)significantly suppressed the tumor growth with increased pLATS1,LC3-II and Beclin 1 levels and decreased YAP,p62 and Ki67 levels in the tumor tissue.Overall,this study demonstrates that PSVII is a novel and direct Hippo activator that has great potential in the treatment of BC.Yu-chen Xiang Peng Peng Xue-wen Liu Xin Jin Jie Shen Te Zhang Liang Zhang Fang Wan Yu-liang Ren Qing-qing Yu Hu-zi Zhao Yuan Si Ying Liu 2022Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2022,43,6:1
