An Arabidopsis thaliana (Ler) inbred line AFDL exhibiting abnormal flower development mainly caused by reduced AP1 expression显示文摘The genetic network controlling flowering and flower development consists of a set of floral integrator genes that play a role in light sensing, hormone signaling and developmental pathways. These integrators activate the expression of meristem identity genes LEAFY (LFY) and APETALA1 (AP1) to initiate the flowering transition. However, how the expression of key genes, such as AP1,responds to diverse signals during flower development remains largely unknown. Here,we report that an Arabidopsis abnormal flower development inbred line (AFDL) exhibits a phenotype similar to the ap1 mutant, with delayed flowering time and a high frequency of transition of flower meristems into inflorescence meristems after flowering. The flower organs with an abnormal first whorl lack the second whorl and the increased number of inflorescences at the first-and second-whorl positions most closely resembled the phenotypes of ap1/cal double mutants.Interestingly, both normal and abnormal flowers coexisted in a single individual.Microarray and quantitative real-time PCR analysis revealed that the expression of AP1 was significantly reduced, while the expression of its interacting genes TERMINAL FLOWER 1 (TFL1),SHORT VEGETATIVE PHASE (SVP),AGAMOUS-like 24 (AGL24),SEPALLATA (SEP) and CAULIFLOWER (CAL) and upstream genes FLOWERING LOCUS C (FLC) and FLM were increased in AFDL,which could serve to explain its phenotype. The expression of genes responsive to different stimuli dramatically changed in AFDL relative to the wild type,as revealed by the differential display of transcripts, indicating that this expression variation is subject to a threshold, leading to an on/off expression pattern of the master regulatory gene (such as AP1) of flower development.QI XiaoLi JIANG Yao TANG Fang WANG MinJie HU JianJun ZHAO ShuTang SHA Wei LU MengZhu 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,1:4
PagGRF12a interacts with PagGIF1b to regulate secondary xylem development through modulating PagXND1a expression in Populus alba×P.glandulosa显示文摘Growth-regulating factors(GRFs)are important regulators of plant development and growth, but their possible roles in xylem development in woody plants remain unclear. Here,we report that Populus alba×Papulus glandulosa PagGRF12a negatively regulates xylem development in poplar.PagGRF12a is expressed in vascular tissues.Compared to non-transgenic control plants, transgenic poplar plants overexpressing PagGRF12a exhibited reduced xylem width and plants with repressed expression of PagGRF12a exhibited increased xylem width.Xylem NAC domain 1(XND1)encodes a NAC domain transcription factor that regulates xylem development and transcriptional analyses revealed that PagXND1a is highly upregulated in PagGRF12a-overexpressing plants and downregulated in PagGRF12a-suppressed plants, indicating that PagGRF12a may regulate xylem development through PagXND1a.Transient transcriptional assays and chromatin immunoprecipitation-polymerase chain reaction assays confirmed that PagGRF12a directly upregulates PagXND1a.In addition,PagGRF12a interacts with the GRF-Interacting Factor(GIF)PagGIF1b,and this interaction enhances the effects of PagGRF12a on PagXND1a.Our results indicate that PagGRF12a inhibits xylem development by upregulating the expression of PagXND1a.Jinnan Wang Houjun Zhou Yanqiu Zhao Cheng Jiang Jihong Li Fang Tang Yingli Liu Shutang Zhao Jianjun Hu Xueqin Song MengZhu Lu 2021Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2021,63,10:3
Transcriptional and temporal response of Populus stems to gravi-stimulation显示文摘Plants modify development in response to external stimuli, to produce new growth that is appropriate for environmental conditions. For example, gravistimulation of leaning branches in angiosperm trees results in modifications of wood development, to produce tension wood that pulls leaning stems upright. Here, we use gravistimulation and tension wood response to dissect the temporal changes in gene expression underlying wood formation in Populus stems. Using time-series analysis of seven time points over a 14-d experiment, we identified8,919 genes that were differentially expressed between tension wood(upper) and opposite wood(lower) sides of leaning stems. Clustering of differentially expressed genes showed four major transcriptional responses, including gene clusters whose transcript levels were associated with Higtwo types of tissue-specific impulse responses that peaked at about 24–48 h, and gene clusters with sustained changes in transcript levels that persisted until the end of the 14-d experiment. Functional enrichment analysis of those clusters suggests they reflect temporal changes in pathways associated with hormone regulation, protein localization, cell wall biosynthesis and epigenetic processes. Time-series analysis of gene expression is an underutilized approach for dissecting complex developmental responses in plants, and can reveal gene clusters and mechanisms influencing development.Matthew Zinkgraf Suzanne Gerttula Shutang Zhao Vladimir Filkov Andrew Groover 2018Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2018,60,7:2
Recent Developments of FNET/GridEye—A Situational Awareness Tool for Smart Grid显示文摘Wide-area monitoring systems(WAMS)are becoming increasingly vital for enhancing power grid operators’situational awareness capabilities. As a pilot WAMS that was initially deployed in 2003,the frequency monitoring network FNET/GridEye uses GPS-time-synchronized monitors called frequency disturbance recorders(FDRs)to capture dynamic grid behaviors.Over the past ten years,a large number of publications related to FNET/GridEye have been reported. In this paper, the most recent developments of FNET/GridEye sensors, data centers, and data analytics applications are reviewed. These works demonstrate that FNET/GridEye will become a costeffective situational awareness tool for the future smart grid.Yong Liu Wenxuan Yao Dao Zhou Ling Wu Shutang You Hesen Liu Lingwei Zhan Jiecheng Zhao Haoyang Lu Wei Gao Yilu Liu 2016CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2016,2,3:2
Impact of Simultaneous Activities on Frequency Fluctuations:Comprehensive Analyses Based on Real Measurement Data from the FNET/GridEye显示文摘Simultaneous human activities, such as the Super Bowl game, would cause certain impacts on frequency fluctuations in power systems. With the help of FNET/GridEye measurements, this paper aims to give comprehensive analyses on the frequency fluctuations during Super Bowl LIV held on Feb.2,2020,so as to better understand several phenomena caused by simultaneous activities which will help system operations and controls.First, recent developments of the FNET/GridEye are briefly introduced.Second, the frequency fluctuations of the Eastern Interconnection(El),western electricity coordinating council(WECC),and electric reliability council of Texas(ERCOT)power systems during Super Bowl LIV are analyzed.Third, frequency fluctuations of Super Bowl Sunday and ordinary Sundays in 2020 are compared. Finally, the differences of frequency fluctuations among different years during the Super Bowl and their change trends are also given.Furthermore, several possible explanations, including the simultaneity of electricity consumption at the beginning of commercial breaks and the halftime show, the increasing usage of the Internet, and the increasing size of TV screens, are illustrated in detail in this paper.Shengyuan Liu Shutang You Chujie Zeng Yinfeng Zhao Wenxuan Yao Yilu Liu Zhenzhi Lin 2021CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2021,7,2:1

Adding power of artificial intelligence to situational awareness of large interconnections dominated by inverter‐based resources显示文摘Large‐scale power systems exhibit more complex dynamics due to the increasing inte-gration of inverter‐based resources(IBRs).Therefore, there is an urgent need to enhance the situational awareness capability for better monitoring and control of power grids dominated by IBRs.As a pioneering Wide‐Area Measurement System,FNET/GridEye has developed and implemented various advanced applications based on the collected synchrophasor measurements to enhance the situational awareness capability of large‐scale power grids. This study provides an overview of the latest progress of FNET/GridEye.The sensors, communication, and data servers are upgraded to handle ultra‐high density synchrophasor and point‐on‐wave data to monitor system dynamics with more details.More importantly, several artificial intelligence(AI)‐based advanced appli-cations are introduced, including AI‐based inertia estimation,AI‐based disturbance size and location estimation,AI‐based system stability assessment, and AI‐based data authentication.Lin Zhu Yinfeng Zhao Yi Cui Shutang You Wenpeng Yu Shengyuan Liu He Yin Chang Chen Yuru Wu Wei Qiu Mirka Mandich Hongyu Li Adedasola Ademola Chengwen Zhang Chujie Zeng Xinlan Jia Weikang Wang Haoyu Yuan Huaiguang Jiang Jin Tan Yilu Liu 2021High Voltage2021,6,6:0
Tunable photocycle kinetics of a hybrid bacteriorhodopsin/quantum dot system显示文摘The inclusion of inorganic nanoparticles in biological environments has led to the creation of hybrid nanosystems that are employed in a variety of applications. One such system includes quantum dots (QDs) coupled with the photoactive protein, bacteriorhodopsin (BR), which has been explored in developing enhanced photovoltaic devices. In this work, we have discovered that the kinetics of the BR photocycle can be manipulated using CdSe/CdS (core/shell) QDs. The photocycle lifetime of protein samples with varying QD amounts were monitored using time-resolved absorption spectroscopy. Concentration-dependent elongations of the bR and M state lifetimes were observed in the kinetic traces, thus suggesting that excitonic coupling occurs between BR and QDs. We propose that the pairing of BR with QDs has the potential to be utilized in protein-based computing applications, specifically for real-time holographic processors, which depend on the temporal dynamics of the bR and M photointermediates.Terianna J.
