| 7 | Endoscopic characteristics in predicting prognosis of biopsy-diagnosed gastric low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia显示文摘Background: Endoscopic biopsy can underestimate gastric malignancies as low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia (LGIN). Definitively diagnosed LGIN would progress. This study aimed to evaluate predictive factors to identify malignancies misdiagnosed as LGIN by biopsy and LGIN at high risk of progression.Methods: The clinical records of patients diagnosed with gastric LGIN by endoscopic biopsy who underwent at least two endoscopies during the first year of follow-up between 2007 and 2017 were retrospectively collected. Three endoscopists reviewed photographs of the initial endoscopy, described lesion characteristics, and made endoscopic diagnoses. Logistic regression was used to analyze predictors to identify malignancies underestimated as LGIN. A receiver operating characteristic curve was used to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of these predictors. Patient clinical outcomes of follow-up >1 year were collected. Kaplan-Meier estimates with log-rank tests and Cox proportional hazards regression were used to analyze predictors of progression.Results: Overall, 48 of 182 (26.4%) patients were proven to have malignancies. A single lesion, a large lesion size, and marked intestinal metaplasia (IM) were independent predictors of initially misdiagnosed malignancies. The area under the curve of these predictors was 0.871, with a sensitivity of 68.7% and specificity of 92.5%. Twelve of 98 patients (12.2%) progressed during the 33-month median follow-up period. A whitish appearance, irregular margins, marked IM, and histological diagnosis of LGIN more than twice within the first year were predictors for progression.Conclusions: Lesions diagnosed as LGIN by biopsy with marked IM and other predictors above should be prudently treated for high potential to be malignancies or progress. | 8 | Cloning of the kininogen gene from Lampetra japonica provides insights into its phylogeny in vertebrates显示文摘Kininogens, the precursors of bradykinins, ubiquitously exist in vertebrates, including mammals, birds, amphibians, and fishes.To elucidate the phylogeny of kininogen genes in early vertebrates, we cloned the full-length cDNA of kininogen gene from the liver of Lampetra japonica.The open reading frame of this sequence contained 546 bp and encoded 181 amino acids, including a cystatin domain without the canonical binding site for cysteine proteinases and a bradykinin domain.Our results suggested that in lampreys and most of other vertebrates, there might be only one kininogen gene, which was fused by certain sequences during vertebrate evolution and encoded proteins with more functions;however, another special kininogen gene, only encoding the bradykinin domain with multiple copies in some species, arose only in amphibians for adapting themselves to the unique environment.Using reverse transcription PCR, kininogen mRNA was also detected in lamprey gut, kidney, and leukocyte, but absent in lamprey buccal gland.Our findings may provide insights into the phylogeny of kininogen genes as well as other gene families in vertebrates. | Liwei Zhou Xin Liu Ping Jin Qingwei Li | 2009 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2009,36,2: | 3 |
| 9 | Historical Evolution of Mariculture in China During Past 40 Years and Its Impacts on Eco-environment显示文摘The rapid development of mariculture in China in recent decades has satisfied people's demand of seafood, and has made a great contribution to economic development. However, mariculture has also caused some negative impacts on the eco-environment. By statistically analyzing national data(as well as data for four main provinces) regarding the mariculture area and cultivation species in China since reform and opening up, the historical evolution of mariculture during the past 40 years was analyzed, the driving factors related to policy, market and technology innovation were discussed, and the potential impacts of mariculture on the coastal eco-environment were also illustrated. The statistical results indicated that the maricultural area increased radically during the past 40 years, from 1979(116.47 × 10~3 ha) to 2012(2205.65 × 10~3 ha), with an increase of nearly 20-fold. Shandong Province represented the fastest-growing region, with an increase of 31-fold. Moreover, the cultivated species had gradually become diversified. Initially, shellfish and algae were major species, and then it developed to various species including fish, and currently shellfish and crustaceans were the major species. The development of mariculture was driven by government policies, market economy and technology innovation. Rapid development of mariculture also caused significantly adverse impacts on the eco-environment of the coastal regions. For example, the sea reclamation for mariculture decreased the area and function of coastal wetlands and the contaminants originating from mariculture destroyed the coastal aquatic environment. Fortunately, the implementation of ‘13 th Five-Year Fisheries Planning' is expected to help both improve the seafood quality and reduce the contamination in coastal aquatic environment. | 10 | Zhichan powder regulates nigrostriatal dopamine synthesis and metabolism in Parkinson's disease rats显示文摘In this study, rat models of Parkinson's disease induced by substantia nigra injection of 6-hydroxy-dopamine were intragastrically administered Zhichan powder daily for 50 days. Reverse transcription PCR results showed that tyrosine hydroxylase mRNA expression in the rat substantia nigra was significantly increased, while monoamine oxidase B mRNA expression was significantly decreased in the Zhichan powder group, compared with the model group. In addition, the levels of striatal dopamine and homovanillic acid, the ratio of dopamine to homovanillic acid, and the activity of blood superoxide dismutase were all higher in the Zhichan powder group than in the model group, but the content of malondialdehyde in blood was lower. | 11 | Genome Size of Alexandrium catenella and Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis Estimated by Flow Cytometry显示文摘Flow cytometry(FCM) technique has been widely applied to estimating the genome size of various higher plants. However, there is few report about its application in algae. In this study, an optimized procedure of FCM was exploited to estimate the genome size of two eukaryotic algae. For analyzing Alexandrium catenella, an important red tide species, the whole cell instead of isolated nucleus was studied, and chicken erythrocytes were used as an internal reference. The genome size of A. catenella was estimated to be 56.48 ± 4.14 Gb(1C), approximately nineteen times larger than that of human genome. For analyzing Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis, an important economical red alga, the purified nucleus was employed, and Arabidopsis thaliana and Chondrus crispus were used as internal references, respectively. The genome size of Gp. lemaneiformis was 97.35 ± 2.58 Mb(1C) and 112.73 ± 14.00 Mb(1C), respectively, depending on the different internal references. | 16 | Tri-functionalized TiOxCl4-2x accessory layer to boost efficiency of hole-free, all-inorganic perovskite solar cells显示文摘Tin dioxide(SnO2) is generally regarded as a promising electron-transporting layer(ETL) for state-of-theart perovskite solar cells(PSCs), however, the ubiquitous oxygen-vacancy-related defects at SnO2 surface and the large energy difference between conduction band of SnO2 and perovskite layer undoubtedly cause severe charge carrier recombination, resulting in sluggish charge extraction efficiency and non-negligible open-circuit voltage(Voc) loss. Herein, a chlorine-containing TiOxCl4-2x accessory layer is fabricated by immersing SnO2 layer into the TiCl4 aqueous solution to passivate the surface oxygen-vacancy-related defects of SnO2 layer and to set an intermediate energy level at ETL/perovskite interface in all-inorganic cesium lead tri-bromine(CsPbBr3) PSCs. Furthermore, the TiOxCl4-2x layer also improves the infiltration of SnO2 layer surface toward perovskite precursor for high-quality perovskite film. Finally, the hole-free, allinorganic CsPbBr3PSC with a structure of FTO/SnO2/TiOxCl4-2x/Cs0.91Rb0.09PbBr3/carbon achieves a champion efficiency of 10.44% with a Vocas high as 1.629 V in comparison to 8.31% for control device. Rat models of Parkinson's disease were induced by stereotaxically injecting 6-hydroxydopamine into the substantia nigra. The rat models were intragastrically treated with Zhichan powder, which is composed of milkvetch root, ginseng, bunge swallowwort root, himalayan teasel root, Magnolia officinalis, Ligustrum lucidum Ait. and szechwan lovage rhizome. Immunohistochemistry and reverse transcription-PCR results demonstrated that mRNA and protein expression of tumor necrosis factor receptor 1, Fas, caspase-8, cytochrome C, Bax, caspase-3, and p53 significantly increased, but Bcl-2 expression significantly decreased in the substantia nigra of rats with Parkinson's disease. Following Zhichan powder administration, mRNA and protein expression of tumor necrosis factor receptor 1, Fas, caspase-8, cytochrome C, Bax, caspase-3, and p53 diminished, but Bcl-2 expression increased in the rat substantia nigra.
