| 1 | 42,573 cases of hepatectomy in China: a multicenter retrospective investigation显示文摘Hepatectomy is currently routinely performed in most hospitals in China. China owns the largest population of liver diseases and the biggest number of liver resection cases. A nationwide multicenter retrospective investigation involving 112 hospitals was performed, and focused on liver resection for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). 42,573 cases of hepatectomy were enrolled, and 18,275 valid cases of liver resection for HCC patients were selected for statistical analysis. The epidemiology of HCC, distribution of hepatectomy, postoperative complications and prognosis were finally analyzed. In the 18,275 HCC patients,81% had hepatitis B virus infection and 10% had hepatitis C virus infection. 38% of the HCC patients had normal Alphafetoprotein(AFP) level, and other 35% had an AFP level lower than 400 ng mL^(-1). In the study period, 97% of the hepatectomy for HCC were treated with open surgery, and 23.81% had vascular exclusion techniques. The operation time was(191.7±105.6) min,the blood loss was(546.0±562.8) m L, and blood transfusion was(543.0±1,035.2) m L. The median survival for HCC patients was 631 days, with 1-, 3-, and 5-year overall survival of 73.2%, 28.8% and 19.6%, respectively. | 2 | Optical property and spectroscopy studies on the selected lubricating oil in the terahertz range显示文摘The optical property and spectroscopy of selected kinds of lubricating oil are studied based on the terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) in the spectral range of 0.3-1.6 THz. The samples are classified by their characteristics via the near-infrared spectrum. The experimental results reveal that lubricating oil is more sensitive in the range of terahertz than in the near-infrared,and the specific kinds of lubricating oil can be identified according to their different spectral features in the terahertz range. The effect of ambient oxygen pressure on the structural, optical and electri- cal properties of SnO2 thin films was studied. X-ray diffraction and Hall measurements show that increasing the ambient oxygen pressure can improve crystallization of the films and decrease resistivity of the films. | 10 | Cloud-based smartphone-assisted chemiluminescent assay for rapid screening of electroactive bacteria显示文摘Electroactive bacteria(EAB)can transfer electrons to exocellular solid acceptors and have widespread applications in the fields of pollutant degradation,biosynthesis,and hydrogen generation.Traditional EAB screening methods can precisely measure the bacterial extracellular electron transfer ability,but they suffer from time-consuming and labor-intensive procedures.The chemiluminescence technique is effective for the rapid detection of hemoglobin but has not been applied for EAB screening.Herein,we utilized a chemiluminescent assay to identify EAB through a multiheme c-type cytochrome(c-Cyt)triggered chemiluminescent reaction.The multiheme c-Cyts-triggered chemiluminescence was conveniently determined by taking photographs with commercial smartphones and cloud-based computing.The acquired image signal shows a significant and linear relationship with the bacterial concentration.Measurement results of the chemiluminescence intensity triggered by different bacterial species with the proposed method are strongly associated with those of the microplate reading method(Pearson’s r of 0.9795;P<0.01)and dissimilatory Fe(Ⅲ)reduction method(Pearson’s r of 0.9628;P<0.01).Furthermore,this cloud-based and smartphone-assisted chemiluminescent assay is instrument-free and easy to operate,and results can be obtained within 2 min.The findings demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively detect EAB.Therefore,it will be an alternative approach for EAB screening and can have promising applications in microbiology,environmental science,and bioenergy. | WEN JunLin HE DaiGui LUO SongQing ZHOU ShunGui YUAN Yong | 2023 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2023,66,3: | 1 |

| 13 | BRD7 plays an anti-inflammatory role during early acute inflammation by inhibiting activation of the NF-кB signaling pathway显示文摘Increasing evidence has shown a strong association between tumor-suppressor genes and inflammation.However,the role of BRD7 as a novel tumor suppressor in inflammation remains unknown.In this study,by observing BRD7 knockout mice for 6–12 months,we discovered that compared with BRD7+/+mice,BRD7^(−/−)mice were more prone to inflammation,such as external inflammation and abdominal abscess.By using mouse embryo fibroblast(MEF)cells from the BRD7 knockout mouse,an in vitro lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-stimulated MEF cell line was established.The mRNA levels of interleukin-6(IL-6),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),chemokine(C-X-C motif)ligand 1(CXCL-1)and inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS)were significantly increased in BRD7^(−/−)MEF cells compared with BRD7+/+MEF cells after LPS stimulation for 1 or 6 h.In addition,the cytoplasm-to-nucleus translocation of nuclear factor kappa-B(NF-κB;p65)and an increased NF-κB reporter activity were observed in BRD7^(−/−)MEF cells at the 1 h time point but not at the 6 h time point.Furthermore,an in vivo dextran sodium sulfate(DSS)-induced acute colitis model was created.As expected,the disease activity index(DAI)value was significantly increased in the BRD7^(−/−)mice after DSS treatment for 1–5 days,which was demonstrated by the presence of a significantly shorter colon,splenomegaly and tissue damage.Moreover,higher expression levels of IL-6,TNF-α,p65,CXCL-1 and iNOS,and an increased level of NF-κB(p65)nuclear translocation were also found in the DSS-treated BRD7^(−/−)mice.These findings suggest that BRD7 has an anti-inflammatory role during early acute inflammation by inhibiting activation of the NF-кB signaling pathway,which provides evidence to aid in understanding the therapeutic effects of BRD7 on inflammatory diseases. | Ran Zhao Yukun Liu Heran Wang Jing Yang Weihong Niu Songqing Fan Wei Xiong Jian Ma Xiaoling Li Joshua B Phillips Ming Tan Yuanzheng Qiu Guiyuan Li Ming Zhou | 2017 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2017,14,10: | 0 |
